Smugglers Den Inn in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

The Smugglers never fail to deliver. Last night we had 4 great tasting meals in a great atmosphere and good service and at a reasonable price.

Another lovely evening at smugglers den, food was as good as always, love the consistency never had a bad meal there. Staff friendly and up for a laugh. Highly recommended.

Family meal booked late and accommodated for. Great food quality and portion sizes, lovely location and atmosphere with great staff.

Stopped for Sunday lunch with children. Atmosphere was lovely in this 16thc pub, with fire lit and tables full of familys, children and dogs. Service was quick and friendly. The meal was ample with plenty of veg, Yorkshire pud and roast potatoes but the best was the beef. It was sublime. Not a bit was tough. Just lovely. Plates cleared in good time and children had dessert. It's not cheap but you pay for what you get. However, if it wasn't for the beef, I might feel £60 for 2 adult, a child sunday roast with 2 child desserts and 3 drinks a tad rich.

What a great find, we went with my daughter and kids and then with my mum and on both occasions the food, service and ambiance were excellent. Proper pub atmosphere and decor and it looked very boujee when we drove up at night, ideal.

We live reasonably near but have never tried this pub. We found it on Google maps and decided to go somewhere else for Sunday lunch for a change. We were not disappointed. Lunch was freshly cooked, good selection of veg, nice and hot and the service was friendly. We will be back for sure!

Absolute stunning old pub 16th century hid away. Couldn't believe it when I walked in what a little gem this place was. As soon as we walked in, the whole atmosphere on the age hits you instantly. Very friendly staff and really pleasant service. We all had the Sunday lunch, and the portions were big and absolutely delicious. Please, if you're in the area, this is a must place to visit, and I will most certainly be back.

We came here whilst staying in Crantock a year ago and thought it was one of the nicest meals we've ever had, and very reasonably priced. We didn't hesitate to return when down in Cornwall again this weekend, and it was just as good. Both times we visited with our two whippets - it's very dog friendly too. We'll be back!

I'm not into sunday roast but my partner Julie loves them. I reckon it's one of tje best we have ever had and not expensive either. Loved the cauliflower cheese side as it has loads of cheese 🧀

Food was great 3 star at Atmosphere as we didn't book so put in what looked like an extension facing car park with back doors open it was very cold and a large family of kids...perhaps more thought for a oldish couple as on the face of it lots of other tables but we didn't ask to move

Absolutely gorgeous and very cosy pub. The staff are wonderful, super helpful and polite and couldn’t do enough for us. The food is fantastic, delicious and warming and beautifully presented. It’s also dog friendly - perfect for dog owners and dog lovers alike. You couldn’t ask for more!

Very miserable bar man. Looked at us with utter distain when asked if dogs were allowed inside. Then decided to serve everyone else who came to bar after us. Went to order food after eventually ordering our drinks to be told they had stop serving food even though menu said lunch was available between 12pm and 5pm! Shame as the reviews looked good. Maybe he was having an off day or maybe hospitality is not for him.

Amazing food, came a few years ago and had the blade of beef, thankfully still on the menu and still as amazing as ever! Staff are lovely too and really friendly!

We recently visited the Smugglers Den. The service was great but sadly the curry I ordered was not the greatest. The chicken was very chewy. I did mention this to a staff member and all they said was "sorry" they did not take this any further.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch and a desert the dog also had sausages cooked for her perfect 👌

Come here couple of times a year, food is always ok, some nice options and 1 or 2 specials, menu has been the same for years, needs a refresh and few more options. Cosy little pub. Friendly staff.

Lovely pub stayed for food too. The biggest portions we have ever had and my husband can eat alot! Would definitely recommend. Very good quality freshly cooked food and decent prices for drinks which is great for the area. Young staff were helpful, welcoming and very friendly. Well done to all! 😀

Delicious food in a charming old cottage and very well waited. 3 starters, 3 mains, 1 pudding plus drinks was £88, which felt very reasonable.

10/10 for location and looks. Very picturesque inside and out. Sadly that's about as good as it got for us. Service was terrible. Tbf the 1 guy behind the bar was doing well keeping up with the entire pubs drinks, but then they all sat waiting to be taken to tables for about 20mins. No cutlery or napkins given with food and they don't tell you where to get it. Beef pie was incredibly dry meat, bangers and mash comes without gravy??? Pork belly my wife had was a bad cut being 95% fat. We were seated in the dog section (as requested) which had multiple babies crawling on the sticky carpet floor under tables where strangers dogs were. Not the pubs fault but an accident waiting to happen. All staff too busy to notice or say anything. Oversold tables for number of staff and food needs a serious quality review. It was basically a very busy weatherspoons vibe inside a very nice looking place.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Very accommodating of our dogs (and plenty of water bowls for them. There is also an outdoor play area. I would not recommend the ribs as a large amount of them were just gristle and inedible. 3 of us had them, so it wasn't just a one off bad batch. They were also quite dry, sadly, so we were quite disappointed. Some of our party had the tacos, though, and I am told they were delicious. The puddings were really good and it was nice to find a restaurant which offers custard! Prices were fair. We would visit again and recommend it friends but would not have the ribs.

we go to cornwall every year in June and we always go to the Smugglers Den Inn and the food is outstanding. and the staff are so friendly and dogs are welcome that is so good for us because we have four dogs

Lovely picturesque pub, really nice Sunday roast, nice service.

Setting is lovely. Accessed down a tiny country lane. Next to, what looks like, a good campsite. Beer garden attractive and dog friendly. Wedding in the summer extension meant that staff were a little stretched and unable to get drinks to us in a timely manner. They were friendly though and trying their best. Atmospheric decor inside and lovely thick old walls. Food choices were less than we were expecting and just run of the mill pub food choices rather than gastro. Portions big. Scampi good, fish OK, halloumi tacos great, steak overcooked, burger average, fries better than average but not great.

We had a meal to celebrate my Birthday and it was definitely the right choice.It is a lovely place with lots of character and the staff and friendly and helpful.Food was amazing and host was exceptional.All round great destination.Would highly recommend,will definitely go there again.

Well what a beauty, just had a meal at the smugglers in cubert with friends, it was a perfect evening, very friendly welcome, the staff were very polite and happy, and the food was first class, definitely will be back again soon, 10/10👍

Nice pub in a lovely location. Food left a little to be desired as it was quite dry. Also requested some condiments from the waiter which never materialised and no-one came to check if the food was OK. Bit of a shame as we were really looking forward to it given the reviews.

Went for my father's day meal while on holiday in Cornwall, me and my sister in law , had the pork Sunday roast, and i have to say it was possibly the worse I've ever eaten , tasted like prison food , 100 percent microwaved meat , thin strips of fatty gelatinous meat . what made it even worse was instead of giving us separate veg , they give us one small side dish of veg to share , what a disgrace 13 pound per meal , I've had better at weatherspoons , 100 percent won't be coming back The wife said her stake was nice tho , and the lad serving us , was very friendly and all of the serving staff was grate 95 quid for 3 isn't actually a bad price , but the food was below standard

We really enjoyed our evening in the Smugglers Inn. The menu was a slightly more inspired version of your regular pub grub, but it was the atmosphere, tucked away location, and commitment to the smuggling concept with seafaring paraphernalia displayed throughout that made this a charming spot. Lovely outdoor tables and welcoming to dogs in and out.

Staying in Cubert,meant this pub was in walking distance across the fields, which was lovely in itself. The pub is obviously hundreds of years old, and you can feel the history in each room . The food was pretty good. We will definitely be back

Managed to get a table last minute on a bank holiday Saturday 😃 Service was great, food was lovely. They were more than happy to swap chips for a salad, and they were more than happy to oblige other customers substitutions too. Can't fault it! Will definitely go back before our holiday ends 😃

Fabulous meal with excellent service.

We rang Sunday morning to check for availability, friendly team members on the phone advised us of free times and where we could sit. We opted to sit in the Markey with the dogs. We ordered 3 x times chicken wings and a garlic bread to start. Wings were beautiful and the garnish was excellent. We had the fish chips and mushy peas and the ploughmans. Nice crispy batter, and the fish was beautiful. Ploughmans was excellent.Excellent service and food. We look forward to visiting next time we are here. Thankyou team Smugglers

Been here a couple of times with my other half and our retriever. The food’s been great, the staff have been just the right amount of attentive, and they’ve been very accommodating with our seating requests.

Warm welcome and the food was tasty. Service was very rushed which is a shame.

We visit this pub on every trip to Cornwall. While it is still okay, the menu is tired and the decorations have not been updated for at least 25 years. There is a newer area that serves pizza in season which we haven't been in. The service is good and it is still a popular pub but it hasn't moved on at all - a bit like a comfortable but old pair of slippers!
