I used to be a regular at what was once a lovely, friendly pub but since it was taken over from Weatherspoons, the quality has gone down. Food is terrible and one never knows when food will be available (have been in several times when food was supposed to be available only to find out kitchen was closed). And prices have soared. One never knows what the price will be as they keep changing. The last time I went in they tried to charge me £4.50 for a Diet Coke!!! I don't pay that at fine dining establishments in the West End!. It's a pity because it used to be filled with 'regulars', with a friendly atmosphere and good food and nice staff.

This place is no longer a Wetherspoons! It used to be a great place to visit, but it has declined under new management. The atmosphere is unwelcoming, and the closing times seem unpredictable. They really need to update their opening times online. The Toll Gate used to be a place where people could come together and have a good time, but I will be avoiding this pub from now on.

Won't lie, a bit grimy, but to be fair, we did stumble in sometime after 10pm on a Friday. That being said, the bar staff were on it and wait times weren't too crazy. Nice big outdoor seating area. It is split, in a sense, so half of it was only accessible by going into the pub, but what of it? Great casual vibe, no room for airs and a good place to get hammered at a reasonable price 👍🏼

This was a Wetherspoons bought over but got no crowds due to high prices! Then they lowered the prices got the crowd back now prices hiked AGAIN by over £1 a drink unheard of! Three different chefs, kitchen open, kitchen closed, kitchen open again. Miserable manager who won't even look you in the eye, he gives out to staff in front of customers, argues with customers in front of customers very uncomfortable. They have a totally fake website!! Not sure who is running this but they have no idea about the drinking culture. Def won't last with these attitudes!

Beer is fine, it’s lovely and quite spacious, but they post on here that their closing time on Sunday is 12:30 and they actually shut at 10:40. Well, the bartender told me that they shut at 11 and then a security guy came around and told me to leave at by 10:40 so I guess that’s the real closing time. Probably won’t be back as I’m not sure I can trust a place that closes a full two hours before its stated closing time.

As far as spoon pubs go this is the best one I have been in. Come here a few times in the last week and I have not had to get out my spoon sanitising wipes to clean the tables. Most spoon pubs I have to wipe the tables from the sticky mess that is left even after staff have cleared the table of glasses and plates. Today a member of staff saw that I had just sat down and came over to wipe my table, if only other spoons did this. Excellent staff and very accommodating, not like some where asking them a thing like "please clean my table" is taken as an insult and greeted with disdain. The manager nod this pub should be congratulated and looked upon as a mentor for other less capable managers who see it as their duty to befriend their staff and not give any consideration to the paying punters. I have heard this pub is closing so I hope they retain the staff as they know how to operate a pub. Thanks to all the staff at The Toll Gate.
