We use this place as a pre-match Pub and it does its job very well. It's not posh and doesn't pretend to be but it does provide a good service for 1st° match goals. We didn't bother going inside as they have singing section outside and cell can of beer cider for cash only! The service is fun and friendly and a little bit rude at times but that's part of the appeal. The toilets leave something to be desired but that kind of fits in and it's about a 10 minute walk from the pub to Old Trafford.

Delivering my daughter to university this weekend I was staying locally. Decided on this place for a few beers. Excellent service from a friendly and very personable landlord. Chatty and friendly without being overly pushy. If I lived nearby I’ve no doubt this would become my local. Great few pints of Neck Oil and a decent selection on offer. Will definitely return on my next trip 👏🏻

Came here with my family after a long day of moving into a new flat and, wow, what can I say! We were welcomed with really friendly faces and the atmosphere was warm (but a little empty sadly due to Covid.) There was lots of laughs and jokes, and the staff made us feel so welcome. We ordered two burgers and the fish and chips and everything was so delicious!! I would really recommend it here, and i can imagine that the atmosphere is improved tenfold when everything goes back to normal. The locals were so friendly too!

Quality atmosphere before a United game. Cheap beer and a short walk to the ground. There is a tent outside where you can buy cans of beer, which is handy because it can take a while to queue inside.

Rather than rush away from Old Trafford, this is a great place to stop for a pint. Lots of staff, quick service, lots of TV’’s.

This is the WORST place I have ever eaten in my entire life and I am 41 so have eaten in a lot of places over the years. Even walking into the pub I had a bad feeling as the place itself has dated decor, is messy and unclean. Against our better judgement, my Father and I stayed for lunch and soon lived to regret it. Firstly, there is no table service so I had to keep getting up and going to the bar to order our drinks, food, coffees etc which meant that I could not relax and enjoy myself. The bar was staffed by a couple of young girls who did not have the basic manners you would expect from someone working on frontline customer service. The girl that served me did not use her manners (Please, Thank you) and was rude and blunt in the answers she gave to my questions. As for the food - The menu has the heading "GREAT FOOD" which I think trading standards should investigate as there was nothing 'Great" about the food we were served. Even when we were ordering the food it was a painful experience as everything we requested was answered by "We don't have that" or "We're out of stock" etc. There was literally 10 items that were not available which I think is poor practice. When we did eventually receive the food we managed to order, it was overcooked, badly presented and tasted stale rather than fresh. My honest advice to anyone thinking of dining here is to swerve it and go somewhere else - trust me you will thank me for it.

This pub is located opposite Trafford Bar Metrolink station and just a 5min walk to Lancashire cricket ground and 10min walk to Manchester United's Old Trafford... This is a large pub with spacious car park; so can see this being popular on matchdays - especially due to it's location... We called in on a non-matchday Saturday to find the pub about half full... the decor is quite modern and there are a couple of TVs showing SkySorts; so you can follow your sport updates if you wish... The pub is a Marstons pub and offers a good range of drinks with three handpulls offering real ale... when we called in i enjoyed a pint of Pedigree and then a Cumberland Ale... The food was quite cheap but very tasty... most mains were priced at around £5.50 and included Steak & Ale Pie, hot Veg Curry, Hunter's chicken, All Day Breakfast, Fish & Chips, Chicken Tikka Massala, burgers, tacos, etc... you could also order steaks or mixed grills for about £7 or lighter bite choices including a fish & chips dish etc for £3.50... We enjoyed our dishes... me - the Chicken Tikka Massala with half rice & chips, poppodom, mini naan bread, & mango chutney... my wife - the Steak & Ale Pie with chips... the portion sizes were good but could have benefitted from a few more chips, but for the price and prompt service we could not complain... However, where this place let itself down was the bar staff... the gentleman serving was good, but the lady serving was more interested in playing on her phone and we had to tell her several times to get served before she heard us - pretty poor & this stopped me ranking The Tollgate as a 4 out of 5 (instead of the 3 out of 5 i gave it); as to me customer service is the most important thing especially in pubs... Overrall, good cheap food and drink at a pub handy for both Lancashire and Man United games, but it does need to improve it's bar service...

The fluffiness of the bap is like a cloud either side of a flab of tasty juicy flesh. Delish. Get down on Match Day and tell your friends.

Great atmosphere on match days. They have tvs around so you can catch early games whilst eating and drinking plus there is often a barbeque in the car park outside. Don't leave it too late though as it does get very very crowded on matchdays so arrive early to eat in comfort with a good menu at reasonable prices.
