The Griffin in Trafford

I came here for Dinner with my friends and I cannot fault them. From the great service from their manager Sam, to the amazing food! I had the Mushroom and Ale pie and can honestly say it’s the best pie I’ve ever had 😆 and then for dessert I had the stick toffee pudding which was delicious. The pub/restaurant itself was gave such a welcoming atmosphere and was cosy inside with the log fires. It’s also dog friendly, which is a bonus! The beer garden here will be lovely on a sunny day so I can’t wait to come back. Can’t complain about anything and can’t thank the staff enough for a great experience and will recommend to my family and friends!

Food was delicious, very good choice of lunch menu, amazing and friendly Staff. Food portions equal to price,definitely willa be coming back soon.

Shocking drinks prices. Over £6 for a zero Guinness. £5.50 next door in the Stamford. Bad service. Grumpy supervisor and the barman has to get help to open the till for a cash transaction. Poor service levels

We do love The Griffin, but since moving to Sale our opportunities to visit have been few and far between. However, at the request of my 9yo daughter, we got the opportunity to go back last Saturday to catch up with some friends. Savanna, as always, was a brilliant host and attended to our never-ending requests (I guess it happens with kids!) with a continual smile. She was really patient with the kids as they flip-flopped over their orders, which is always appreciated. I had the Rump steak sandwich, which was really tasty, served with the Merlot and Beef Dripping Gravy. It was delicious and the steak was cooked really well. I also shared some squid with my daughter, which was also delicious; very light batter and again, very well cooked - hats off to Chef Sam! I finished with the Raspberry and White Chocolate Tart (from the Specials board), which could possibly one of my new favourite puddings. (NB. if you like desserts C&B pubs are great - lots of variety that are all really tasty). It really is a lovely spot to enjoy some great pub food and the effort put in by Lara and the team is much appreciated.

Had the steak and ale pie, crust was perfectly crispy and the inside was delicious, mash was light and fluffy and paired with the rich gravy it was to die for. Pub itself was gorgeous and polished, and staff were friendly and very attentive. Large selection of drinks too. Would recommend coming here!

Was there for a wake very nice public house and the staff were lovely.

We visited for a roast after visiting Tatton park, everyone enjoyed their meal. My stepson left his jacket and the staff went above and beyond and posted it to us as we live an hour away! Thank you

We were so well looked after by Savanna and Jamie. We have gluten free and vegetarian requirements as a family and they guided us through the menu and communicated what we needed with the kitchen. A great atmosphere with a really friendly team.

I lived in Bowdon , left in 1976 and first time I have been back . We had lunch at the Griffin .Francine and Sam were very helpful and the lunch was excellent

A lovely pub, nice interior. Found a relaxing spot. We just had a drink here but recommendation based on this visit as rarely go. Barstaff were good too. Toilets seemed quite clean.

My friend and I had a lovely lunch as usual. The staff are always very friendly. We will be going again next week.

We had a party if 40 after a funeral on Tuesday . The buffet and service was excellent, staff very polite and helpful. A gluten free plate was made up , on request before hand. A big thank you to you all

Dropped in for a meal whilst out shopping and it was such a pleasure to find a quiet pub with great food to. Arrived hot and tasty and not a long wait to enjoy. The staff were pleasant and welcoming on arrival and whilst we were there. Definitely a pub to revisit.

Sam the manager is lovely, welcoming, friendly and chatty. Lara is fabulous who I’ve known for years. Savanna looked after us on the night, she was funny, helpful and delightful. Altogether the Griffin is a regular haunt for me to visit and I love it.

The best place to come for an after work drink, with Francine & Demi playing the perfect hosts, pulling the perfect pints. Thank you.

First time here as we were in the area and wanted to eat before our drive home. The place looks great, however the food was not. Waiter told us that afew options on the menu had sold out. We ordered steak and ale pie, it was dry and consisted of more fat than meat. We had hunters chicken, unfortunately the worst weve ever had, small, burnt/dry, lacked bbq sauce and cheese. Child had sausages, they enjoyed them. Staff were pleasent enough but we wont return.

Had a lovely meal today (Easter Sunday), We chose off the specials menu and everything was very fresh and very tasty. We were served by Demi and we were very well looked after.

I visited the Griffin to carch up with friends. We initially chose it for practical reasons- easy to access and equidistant! The menu was an eye-opener: we were spoiled for choice and were all very happy with the quality and quantity of the food. The sharer starter board and Korean Chicken were incredible. And the prices were very reasonable. Our server, Luke, was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Like Arnie S says - We'll be back.

Arrived early for an appointment nearby, lovely pot of tea at The Griffin - good service, quiet in the bar and restuarant area pre 11:00 am

First time for me visiting this establishment, at first glance, on the outside looks in need of updating. Trying to get inside from the carpark with a pram and disabled person is a no go, if there is one there was no disabled entrance open from the carpark, we had to go around to the front. Once inside we were met by a staff member who said there were a choice of tables we could sit at, we chose one of the booths. We sat down & the staff member gave us the menus & asked if we would like any drinks, which we ordered. After a short while we ordered our food. Food arrived fairly quickly. But baby decided he was going to wake up and wanted feeding, so mum took him out of the pram and pulled a chair from a near table to sit on as booth not conducive to breastfeeding a baby. But while she was sat on this chair she was getting wet from a leak in the ceiling and had to move. When we brought this up with the staff member she "oh yes we know". If you know then really you should have told us before we sat down. However the food was lovely and other than a hole in the ceiling the inside was clean and tidy. I hope this leak is repaired before we return again. Would I recommend - Yes! I would - just make sure the ceiling between the fireplace and the booth hasn't got a hole in it, if you've a baby you need to feed.

The food has improved lately. The staff are as always great. Quite place without TV is part of the attraction.

Took son and 2 year old twins for lunch on Tuesday. Staff were very helpful with the girls and made sure that their food came promptly and provided crayons etc to keep them amused. Good range of meals on the menu.

We went in for drinks only. Lovely place but shocked that the cost of a low alcohol beer is more than the alcoholic version. No incentive for a designated driver trying not to feel too left out!

A lovely place to go, eat and socialise. Always try to get here when I am up from the Cotswolds. Friendly, kind staff working here. Would recommend for a relaxing afternoon or evening.

Had a great Christmas meal with great service. Hope there is a plan to redecorate the outside as it lets the place down by giving the wrong impression of what to expect inside.

We attended Saturday brunch but unfortunately we left having been served food that was not relevant to the menu. We had apologies from the management which was sincere and their service was extremely good. The issue was obviously the chef and the obvious failings in employing somebody who evidently had no food experience. We were served a dry grilled fillet of salmon on toast (supposed to be smoked salmon and egg), a plate with a hash brown, burnt/dry scrambled egg and a wedge of cheese that had been under a warmer (supposed to be farmers breakfast), staff were informed by the kitchen and in turn us 30 minutes in that the porridge was not available. Drinks were spot on, staff very friendly and apologetic but absolutely not good enough for what is supposed to be a premium pub in a premium area. The saving grace was there was no charge and no food eaten.

A small group of us had a meal here last night. Food was lovely, great atmosphere and service. Our server was Jess who was super attentive and couldn’t do enough for us!

Came here for a Sunday roast dinner with our 3 year old son. I am very close to having a baby and we thought it would be a nice treat to go out before I have a section and can’t do much. We booked a table for 4.30 arrived 5mins early and was seated. We weren’t offered menus or a drink order taken for almost 15mins. We then ordered food, starters and mains. We waiting for an hour and still not had our starters. My son was getting very hungry and more unhappy and my partner and I regretted even coming out. I asked how long and the starter was brought out. Then another 15-20mins and mains were out. The food was average and Luke warm but by this point we weren’t going to send back. We ordered trio of roasts and the beef was extremely rare (still mooing). There is rare then there is not cooked. Being pregnant I did not risk eating it. We were offered free desserts due to the wait. We ordered brownies and I ordered a cappuccino. The desserts came and as we had nearly finished the coffee came too. I decided I no longer wanted the coffee and just had enough and wanted to leave. I was annoyed and fed up. I had to go up and ask for the bill as we were just left. The desserts weren’t on the bill but the coffee was. I asked for it to be removed as I no longer wanted it. The reaction was as if I was the one in the wrong! I paid and we left! Over £50 for bad service, average cold food and a disappointment. Wish we had stayed at home

Food good and plentiful but could fo with being slightly hotter.

Told us they dont accept walk ins and you have to book 1h before. 1/3 tables were empty.

This was the first pub I ever drank in, some 50 years ago. It has retained all of its character. Fine view of the church.

This is a nice pub but I think the decision to refuse cash is unwise. I was at another card only establishment only the previous day and when their system failed they were unable to take any payments at all and had to refuse orders meaning that the food they had prepared was either wasted or unsold until the following day. It also makes people less likely to tip the staff. I know it's not illegal to refuse cash but I support a change in the law to ensure that all businesses accept legal tender of whatever variety, card or the currency of the UK. So 3 stars it is.

Attention to detail very poor, Staff inadequately trained. Food presentation and quality very poor. Nan bread not heated . Chicken tikka massla with no chicken. First plate dirty had to change. Servres had no hair nets or aprons. Could do a whole lot better.

Used to go here years ago. Was lovely to go back. Late afternoon on a Thursday. Lovely and relaxed. Able to sit outstanding enjoy the weather and the comings and goings with a couple of cold ones.
