Tocketts Mill Country Park & Restraurant in Redcar and Cleveland

We have been to Tocketts Mill a few times and each time we have really enjoyed our meals and our time there. We like the option of sitting in the conservatory which has a really nice atmosphere, when the weather is colder they have fires which warm up the place and when it is sunny the place is a sun trap and it’s a really nice place to sit and eat. The service is also really good, staff are friendly and polite and remember you when you go back which is really nice. Our food choices have been really good, tasty, hot and the portions are generous. The triple cooked chips are lovely and we would recommend the Parmo.

Living locally, we want Tockets Mill to be a consistent reliable venue, but recently it has fallen short of our expectations. It might seem trivial to some, but the quality of the side salad has been extremely poor on more than one recent occasion. It has a withered, aged appearance something like a past its sell by date yellow label shop bought product. Because of my previous experience, on this most recent visit, I specifically told the waiter about my previous experience, and asked him to inform the chef about my concern. This had no effect, because the same limp fading salad yet again was served. In an attempt to resuscitate the dying vedgetation, I asked the young waitress for oil and vinegar, or french dressing, but was informed that they only had salad cream. Everything else about my meal was great, and this was probably the sharp contrast that showed up the poor salad. Please sort this out Tockets. We want to return to a 10 out of 10 dining experience.

Great food as always, we come at least once a month , never had a bad experience yet! Staff are super friendly and really welcoming.

Don’t know what is going on at Tocketts but went for a breakfast this morning had to wait at least 40 minutes before it arrived, and it was just an average offering ( standard full English) . Sad to say we thought we would have had a better breakfast at Morrisons cafe , and the log burner fire they have on all year long makes the small bar area unbearably hot, so much so they have the door to outside propped open. We have noticed the restaurant food quality has diminished and things taken off the menu . Tocketts was one of our go to places for a nice quality meal with good service. Definitely won’t going for a breakfast again.

Our recent visit to Tocketts Mill was far from what we hoped for. While we were excited to enjoy a nice meal, which we have done before a few times, things took a turn for the worse when our waiter accidentally spilled drinks all over our table and unfortunately, us! My 89 year old mother , and the rest of the group were left saturated 😳 Instead of a sincere apology or assistance in cleaning up, we were left to deal with the mess ourselves. The unfortunate result? Our food, once sizzling hot, went cold while we scrambled for napkins. 🚫🍽️ To add insult to injury, there was no offer of compensation or even acknowledgment of the mishap by the manager!We really wanted to love this place, but customer service is key, and Tocketts Mill dropped the ball. We hope they address these issues because a little kindness goes a long way in the hospitality industry! 🤷‍♀️

Booked for two for Sunday lunch, website quoted £15.95 for a regular adult size meal. The meeter & greeter young lady was very unprofessional right from the get-go - answered the telephone for another booking while dealing with us and walked us to our table and just pointed to the table. Set my teeth on edge right away, point taken away already. Another young lady took our drinks order, then a young man came to ask us what size meal we wanted - as our first time there, we had to ask about protocol and how we collected our meal. On arrival to the serving area, a choice of four meats (beef, pork, turkey and gammon) - server took my order and used the same knife to cut all meats (yuk)!! Another point lost. Food was average, nothing spectacular, for us it was a rare treat not to have cooked our own meal. Paid for our meal and were charged £16.95 each, I raised this with the original meeter & greeter, and she said the website was out of date. Oh, did I say, another point taken away .... Tockett's Mill, get your act together, train your staff with some manners and get your website updated. We won't be coming back and won't be recommending you.

Just had a fabulous Sunday lunch , the food at Tocketts is always good. How they manage to do 400-500 Sunday lunches absolutely amazes me. Staff always very friendly and professional.

Went for Sunday carvery. Arrived on time to have lunch at a pre booked table. Our table wasn't ready and we were told to have a table in the bar. My wife is disabled and couldn't walk that far.I explained this and we then had a 20 minute wait sat in the freezing entrance for our table. We were seated and our drinks were ordered.we collected our food, 1x beef, 1x pork and 2x gammon. All the meats were dry and the roasties had a horrible taste. The Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese and mash were nice. 2 of us ate most of our plates, 2 of us hardly touched their meals. Because we were still hungry, we asked for the pudding menu. It didn't arrive so after a 25 minute wait we left feeling hungry. £79.40 for 4 people including a drink each. Still hungry writing this review. Not recommended.

Jut down the road from us so an easy option for an evening meal. Slow cooked lamb shank for me and roast beef dinner for my wife. The shanks were cooked to perfection served on a bed of mashed potato with Mediterranean vegetables which I'm not quite sure worked for me. Fortunately I had my wives horseradish sauce to cut through the fat of the lamb and oil the roasted vegetables were cooked in. The roast beef and vegetables were delicious and very good portion sizes. We had haloumi fries and sweet chillie sauce for starters delicious and our sweet was raspberry vanilla tart again delicious. The service was perfect and I highly reccomend Tockets. We shall certainly be going again.

Food was absolutely amazing, staff very friendly and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for you. Service was nice and quick.

We booked a short 4-night stay through Hoseasons. On arrival, we enjoyed afternoon coffee and cake at the on-site restaurant. The caravan was lovely and clean, and lots of thoughtful touches such as a welcome tea tray. It is a small site but very private and quiet which we really liked (even our teen enjoyed the peace). All the staff were helpful and courteous. On our last day we booked in for breakfast, it was a bit of a wait but when the food arrived it was delicious. We will definitely book in here again, it was a great base to visit local attractions such a Saltburn by the Sea and Whitby.

Steaks and prosecco at Tocketts Mill. How lovely! Looked forward to it. But our day out was spoiled by the bighead waiter. So casual - so offhand with customers. Who does he think he is? Not welcoming in any way. Treats you as if you're a pain in the rear during his time, trampling all over his shift! As if you're a damned nuisance being there making him show you a table or getting you menus. Ugh. Cannot abide these sort of hospitality people. They have forgotten you're going to be paying £100 or so for a couple of steaks, beers, wines. Shouldn't be employed if they're just going to make customers feel upset/annoyed/disappointed..

First time at Tocketts Mill and can honestly say the only fault was the wait for the food after we ordered. Maybe might be a good point to let customers know that there could be a wait from ordering to actually getting the food. Once food arrived couldn't fault it or the service. Will definitely be coming again with family next time.

This place is such a lovely relaxing environment. We spent several nights here whilst on holiday at Tocketts Mill. We has starters, mains along with with a sweet on a couple of nights. One night it was the carvery. Every was delicious and cooked to perfection. The locals are so lucky to have this restaurant on their doorstep. You won't be disappointed if you decide to try here. The manager is lovely along with his staff, but booking is recommended as it was booked up most of the time.

The service was unbelievable, Claire ensured every aspect of our visit was catered for. Our pre ordered buffet for 20 was delicious and offered a wide range of choices to satisfy all tastes. The overall experience was exceptional and all staff were a credit to the establishment. 10/10 👍

An unplanned decision to stop off for a light snack ended with me having one of the best parmesan's I've ever had. Fresh chillies added at my request made it magnificent. As always had a lovely lunch.We have never had a bad meal here and we come regularly. Today is had the cod and chips with mushy peas ...glad I didn't order the giant cod. My regular was home but delicious. My husband had the steak and Guinness pie. That was large too but we did manage to clear our plates. Couldn't fit a sweet in .

Although it was quiet we did have to ask to order after waiting 15mins. Drinks order came & 2 were wrong. Food was mediocre. Nobody asked if "everything allright"?. Even when I paid the large bill

A family dinner spoilt but an excessive (1 hour + wait). We left before it came out as we could see another table still waiting - and they all looked fed up! In my view, they have too many tables, crammed into the main restaurant - but the kitchen capacity is not able to serve the amount of covers required. I suggest they review the capacity against the kitchen supply, and either reduce the amount of tables, or increase the kitchen capacity. At the moment I cannot recommend any one of a friends or family visit Tocketts Mill. I think this issue lies solely with management - reassure its going to be fixed and we will return in the future.

The four of us went for Sunday lunch, and it was a birthday. We were initially sat in the conservatory but asked Nagi, the manager, if we could move. I have eye problems and my son in law is highly autistic. It was louder in there and bright. A little wait and our request was granted. Always accommodating, friendly and welcoming. The carvery was delicious and the raspberry cheesecake was so rich and bursting with flavour.

Amazing food, Amazing friendly staff, spotless venue. From walking in the door the staff can not do enough for you. Very welcoming. Food cooked to perfection. Ample portions and piping hot. You will not be disappointed dining here.

Booked in advance for a birthday celebration. On arrival we were challenged regarding our booking and told if we didn’t like it we could go elsewhere! Made to feel very uncomfortable. The attitude of the staff put a damper on our family celebration. Will not return. Customer service shocking.

Went today about 1.40 on Friends who'd been last week recommendation. Was quite busy, but, almost as soon as we were in, very pleasant young gentleman came to us, showed us to a lovely big table for 2. After just a few minutes (good, allowing us to 'settle in') very pleasant mature waitress asked us if we'd like drinks, we ordered, and very soon we had them. The same waitress returned and asked if we were ready to order. My wife opted for the Beef & Vegetable casserole, me for the Steak & Ale pie, both off the small plate meal deal. Not long to wait, and the well presented dishes came, hardly small plates either !...lovely and hot, and tasted superb. The restaurant is set in beautiful surroundings, it's very clean, airy and homely. Our bill came to £23.80, excellent value..in a venue where the staff are so friendly & efficient. Another 'to go'place for us !!

Although it was very quiet soon after we arrived we waited ages to be spoken to, during the meal no-one came to ask if all was well/ more drinks etc. Not a very good evening.

We went to Tockets Mill today for the carvery to celebrate a 70th birthday. There were 14 of us in total and we were pleased to see that we had been put around a large square table rather than a long thin one. That’s about where the pleasure ended. We had two vegetarians who had paid the same price for the meal as everyone else but were told that they just had to have the carvery with no meat. When asked why there was no vegetarian alternative they were told they could have the vegan option if they went and sat back at the table. The vegan option was chilli and rice, not an adequate alternative to a carvery. Our plan had been that, as there were 5 separate family units we would order drinks separately from the bar to make paying the final bill easier. We were promptly told that we were not allowed to do this and that all drinks had to be put on the table bill. At the end of the meal the bill arrived only to find that the cost per carvery was actually more than advertised on the website. When we challenged this with the manager we were told that the same thing had happened several times last weekend also. No attempt was made to rectify the issue and no changes were made to the bill. The food was average and the drinks were expensive but the poor service means that we are unlikely to return.

Not the place for me, told to go up for carvery to then be told in front of a restaurant full of people to go sit back down. No apology & made to look like we had done something wrong. Felt embarrassed by the situation & I did not end up getting a carvery but friends did & they said the food tasted good.

We decided to have the battered cod with mushy peas and chips today, it was absolutely delicious, a very generous portion of cod, so fresh and delicate. Pudding was pecan tart and raspberry meringue both decadent in style and flavour, another sensational meal. Always a pleasure

Celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary with lunch here. Excellent food and very good service. We will be back to try out the Sunday Carvery. Fully recommended. Easy parking was the icing on the cake.

Yet again another superb meal, despite being extremely busy the staff remain friendly and helpful, creating a lovely ambiance, today we had the Gammon it was cooked beautifully, hats off to the kitchen staff for the delightful food they constantly serve, thanks to toy all, we will be back

Went with a friend for a catch up,we were served promp by Marc and soon ordered our meals, we both had the chicken donuts off the specials board and it was delicious, followed by Malaysian curry and gammon. We had intended to have a dessert but couldn't fit one in. Our meals came out quickly and Marc topped us up with wine,what more could you ask for. We'll be back soon to try the evening menu.
