Called into the Ship Inn Saltburn for tea on Wednesday 21st August The staff average The food 2xfish And chip's horrible small portions.small amount of chip's on both. The fish was a rip off small And stunk fishey. My son had steak it was small And not medium cooked as requested.my daughters had the beef pie.Big rock hard And dry And tasteless.Needed gravy to eat it And there wasn't enough The rip off portion of peppercorn sauce was lumpy gloopy And a small amout. All in all Greene King the food was rank.all cool too not piping hot as you would expect. We can't recommend the Ship Inn Saltburn. We actually all Left hungry. What a mistake it was wasting £80. The Sweet's we got were horrible too 2 star's to the Greene King Ship Inn Saltburn

Been a few times to the ship since it was revamped and taken over by Greene King in 2023. However it seems now they have it up and running they are becoming greedy. Went for drinks as the Friday evening DJ was on and the place was virtually empty and now I know why - £15 for a glass of Merlot and a pint of Madri. Yes there are really nice views but you could go and sit up at the Spa Hotel for a better view where drinks are cheaper and food is tastier. I checked pricing on app against another local Green King establishment and they were a good £3+ more for my round. Will be the last time we visit which is a shame as could be busy all the time but reality is there are much nicer and realistically priced bars / restaurants in Saltburn where we have experienced real food and not bog standard dare I say ping ping food, we have eaten here previously. Take a look Greene King before you lose even more trade.

Lovely views and a nice enough atmosphere. Great for dogs. Love to walk to Saltburn and make this our first stop with our dog. What I didn't like is that I noticed that the mayonnaise was left outside for customers to help themselves in the sunshine on a hot day. That's an accident waiting to happen. Food hygiene would have a field day. That's a no from me

Nice pub on the seafront at Saltburn on Sea. Standard Greene King, but that's not a bad thing. Good choice of beers. I liked the beer garden which overlooked the sea. I thought the fish and chip cabin was a nice touch. Only disappointment was the scampi which were tiny and some just seemed like coating, the fish and chips on the other hand were lovely. The chips in both were very good. Wouldn't stop me from revisiting though,

Great place to take your dogs with a half decent menu. Lovely staff and a good size with plenty of tables. But don’t have the pie. It looks amazing when it comes out, but It’s a pastry case half full of gravy and some tiny lumps that I suppose are meant to resemble beef. It should be banned under trade decorations. This used to be a great pub with delicious food, until it has been taken over by a chain, however we went here for Sunday lunch I ordered the beef that should have been served pink, I was brought turkey so they changed that to the beef, the beef was not pink, frozen roasties and instant gravy. Yorkshire pudding was nice. For £15 you expect to get food a little less bland. Kids meal for a fiver, a little scoop of beans. A little scoop of mash and two cheap sausages. We were also sat at a high table with a baby where the high chair would not reach so we were moved to a shorter table

The pub is still beautifully located and the look inside is identical but sadly with the pub being bought out by a major chain the stunning menu has been replaced with the terrible bog standard menu the company uses. What was a local menu serving fantastic chips parmos etc is now sadly just a memory. Will still visit for a pint but will save the food for someone else

The Ship was taken over by Greene King a little over a year ago. The previous owners had moved on, along with everything that used to be The Ship that we fell in love with, (except the spacious outdoor seating area with great views of the seaside). Now, the food has changed, the beer has changed and the staff have changed. So, let's start with the 3-star Food. All in all it was fine, with your standard pub style of food to choose from, but the little things like the chips, which barely covered the plate, made you feel they were holding back on purpose. The 3-star Service: the staff greeted you with smiles and were polite, however, no one mentioned that food had to be ordered at the bar. The table we had reserved was next to the kitchen and the staff were hovering around this area throughout our meal, chatting amongst themselves not aware that this was hindering are own experience. If the staff want to chat to each other, please don't do it near the customers. And that feeds in to the 3-star Atmosphere: the place has been done up nicely and is very clean and dog friendly, which is a nice touch, but it lacks the atmosphere the previous owners had, which was warmth.
