Two very bad experiences 1. Afternoon tea was served after a 45 minute wait by which time the tea had been drunk and when the food finally arrived having had to ask where it was the sandwiches were dry having clearly been left out. We made a complaint and were told there was staff shortages. In fairness the bill was reduced by half and free sparkling wine was provided. The staff were apologetic and said they knew the could do better and to give them another try. So we did on the 11/01/2025 2. Went with family this time and the service was spot on. We have the 3 Sunday roasts and the belly pork. The food was cold the portion sizes on the meals varied between plates with some having more vegetables that others and others having no meat. Extra gravy had to be asked for added to this the roast potatoes were small and hard. Due to being with family no complaint was made. I have eaten at other Browns restaurants and this one has a long was to go to catch them up

It was my first and last visit unfortunately 😐 The food was delicious but it was spoiled by sluggish and uneducated staff members. They asked us if we would like to have a jug of water(it was not delivered in the end at all so what's the point of asking?). I asked for Cortado and instead the very young waiter brought me an espresso with extra milk on the side. Is it that difficult to ask more experienced member of staff for advice or simply use Google? Cortado is available in plenty of coffee shops, so there's no excuse for not learning such a basic term. Pity. I considered to come again. I liked the building itself and warm greeting at the arrival until your staff showed their lack of skills.

Let me start by saying the refurb they have done is spot on. The decor is great and it looks superb. A massive upgrade from the Toby Carvery. Having been here a few times now it is obvious they need more staff. I don't think I've received a coffee within 30 minutes of ordering it. Today it was 50 minutes and it arrived after the food, which took 40 minutes to arrive. It also came without the traditional complimentary biscuit. No point asking for one as it would have taken half an hour. 😬 I felt sorry for the guy taking orders behind the bar as he had to serve, pour the drinks and ALSO take the plates of food to the tables. I don't know how many pairs of hands the management think he has, but the truth is not enough for what was asked of him. I haven't eaten in the restaurant side, just the bar area, so don't know if they prioritise that side to the detriment of the bar. I may never find out, unless I want to take a whole afternoon off, in case my worst fears materialise and I'm left starving and hangry. Note to management: the building and decor deserve 5*...you won't get anywhere near without a massive increase in staff and reduction in waiting times. Lovely brunch though, despite the small portion of beans...the poached eggs were done perfectly. 👌🏽

Save you time and money and do not visit . Visited last Sunday to wait 1 hour and a half and still no food arrived . Had to ask if we could order drinks , asked for table water 3 times never arrived .when we came round to ordering we was told on a Sunday there was no beef. A lot of the food they had ran out of so limited food to order . One hour and a half later the food arrived cold . Had a quiet word with the manager to be very rudely told he would take them off the bill. Didn't offer to change them . Didn't really want to eat cold food . Asked if I could pay for the 2 drinks I have had and leave after being in the restaurant 1.45 mins to be told by the manager to leave and forget it as he was walking off to the kitchen ... poor service and very rude male manager . Will not revisit !

I had the pleasure of being served by Monika during my recent visit, and I can honestly say she made the entire experience unforgettable. From the moment we sat down, she greeted us with a warm smile and an infectious enthusiasm that immediately made us feel at home. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive, and she provided excellent recommendations based on our preferences. What stood out most was her attentiveness without being overbearing—she seemed to anticipate our needs before we even had to ask. Whether it was refilling our drinks just in time or checking in to ensure our meal was perfect, Monika's service was impeccable. She was professional, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about making our experience special. If you're lucky enough to have Monika as your waitress, you’re in for a treat. She truly goes above and beyond, making her one of the standout servers I’ve had the pleasure of encountering. She is the definition of excellent service

I have visited twice in the last couple of weeks, and while the food has been consistently good, the service has been disappointing. On this visit, we placed our drinks order along with our food, but we had finished our starters before our drinks even arrived—despite asking multiple times. Additionally, our side orders arrived well after our main courses were served. I’ve received better table service at McDonald’s!

I feel as long as costumers order before 12 they should be able to get breakfast.

Drove 30 miles to have lunch as we had been to canary wharf last week so thought we'd try the one nearest to us.. checked online menu's and decided to have the lunch two courses. When we got there we were told that they weren't doing the lunch menu..there was an issue with the cocktails and some of the food on the menu wasn't available, it was still only the festive menu ..The place itself was lovely..a little cold in the area we sat, the radiator next to us was stone cold... It's 3 degrees outside so not ideal... Staff were ok ...I can't comment on the food as we didn't stay.

Great to have a brasserie in the park. We visited twice in December, atmosphere and staff are excellent, as is the quality of the food. The only reason I have it a 4* is no lobster available, which happens but I would have expected to be advised on arrival of any changes to the menu. Food options are fabulous:

Amazing! Such a warm welcoming place to be. Starting from the service from the team, our server Amber made sure that we were seen too and never ignored, starting with the drinks service was prompt and often. Moving onto the menu, so many choices. Specially coming with my two children who are fussy and it’s hard for us to dine in other restaurants, however she made sure that our children liked what they ordered knowing the menu inside out/amazing energy about what they serve. The food came out swiftly with no long wait times, and they were beautiful. The way the food is presented 10/10 the way the food tasted 10/10. On top of that they are dog friendly which was amazing for the Kids! so cute & sweet! AMAZING place too dine! From the service too the food, considering they opened a month before Christmas they have amazingly pulled everything together and smashed it! Can’t wait too see you guys soon! :)

This isn't actually the worst restaurant we've been to, but it's very close. We booked well in advance after reading the reviews and promptly paid the £120 deposit for a table for 12. After all, the 2500+ reviews couldn't be wrong, couldn't they??? On arrival, i brought a round of drinks 2 pints cider 1 wine spritzer, 1 malibu with coke, 3 cokes, & 5 lemonade. £64.80, I'm guessing they make the drinks on the premises. We were promptly shown our table and found there were just 10 settings laid out. Of course, I mentioned this to the manager, who I might add had called earlier in the day to confirm our table for 12, with a very sullen attitude after a few minutes there were no other tables available. So we squashed ourselves onto a very limited 10 place setting. In retrospect, we should have left then, but getting all 12 together, we decided to make the best of the situation. At this point, I also would have liked an apology from the manager. Ignorance is as the ignorant do, I suppose. Looking at the menu, it looks very appetising. Looks are, as they say, definitely deceiving. My youngest granddaughter summed up the burgers as Tesco's own brand. The fries were frozen & and the fish were definitely from the reduced aisle at Iceland salad dressing with meal were none existent, and there was more fat on the ribeye steaks than flesh. Wasn't all so bad as my future son-in-law did enjoy his belly pork meal. I'd just like to say that 12 meals and 12 drinks cost £365 approximately, that's £30 per meal, 7 of which were from the children's menu. For a meal of this quality I suggest you pay the £5 parking fee in Sutton town and eat at the wetherspoons where a meal + drink costs and average of £15. In fact, I've changed my mind THIS SIMPLY IS THE WORST PLACE I HAVE EVER EATEN. My advice is that Miller and Carter or wetherspoons would be more suitable

Excellent service, meal, arrived at best time to dine there, but on exit struggled to get out with so many people arriving at once at 3pm in main entrance. Very overcrowded too many tables in that room, dogs must have felt nervous, alot of people looked agitated, displeased. Could not see GM or assistant managers or any front of house staff. Maybe if GM was at entrance to meet and greet people calm the situation, direct so many at a time to booking desk then front of house team show them their tables it would not have been so chaotic. Felt it was a fire, health & safety risk.

Not a good experience. It overpromised and under delivered. We were sat at a table where there was a draught from the door and everyone walking past us on the way to the restaurant. The food was such a disappointment, we had roast cod, shepherd's pie, linguine and blade of beef which was probably the best of the 4 dishes. The service was shaky to say the least. It was like the chef and staff needed more practice before opening. We won't be returning. Oh the coffee was good though even if it was delivered to us saying they didn't know which one was which and with a thumb touching my biscuit.

The new Browns restaurant is not worth the trip. It's the same old Mitchells & Butlers food just a more expensive brand. You'll get the same food from The Cock Inn, Horse & Jockey, Miller & Carter or any other Mitchells & butlers chain pub. Way over priced. The service was terrible, very slow with them making a mistake on top and having to re-cook a meal. Really disappointing. If you're looking for a nice restaurant where they don't buy their meals from Brakes then try Pizza By Goli, hands down far better quality and you don't feel like you;ve been robbed.

I love the one in Bham so was excited this has moved to Sutton. Lovely food but the service was really poor unfortunately. We were there from 12 til 4 and only had 2 courses! It took them an hour, and us asking 3 times, for tap water. We waited 45minutes for dessert. The server said she couldn't remove the tip from our bill and would need to get a manager. She wouldn't accept both our 'free cocktail' vouchers we had been emailed, saying she could only take one (we had to show the terms and conditions to show this wasn't the case). Just all very very slow. Maybe just more training needed for staff?!

Having been to Browns in Birmingham many times, I love the place. So looking forward to visiting in Sutton. Came on Sunday for my mothers 85th Birthday. Just cannot understand having a pianist and singer. It was just way too loud. My mother and father both wear hearing aids, and was just so uncomfortable for them. We moved tables after the speaker being turned down several times and suddenly getting loud again. The place is lovely, there's just no need for it. A warm welcome awaited us. Slight problem in that we were not offered the festive menu , but soon resolved. We were virtually forced into three courses, but no matter. the service was efficient and friendly. Then came the food. The cheese salad was not as on the menu. The grilled goats cheese was substituted for a cold feta like cheese. The watercress was substituted for pea shoots, there was no blackberry or elderflower. Having said that it was still a pleasant dish. The turkey duly arrived . Here again substitutions with no explanation. The red cabbage had be changed for some sort of green veg, possibly kale. Still a good plate of food, but disappointing to be altered. Also for us the parsnips were rather too al dente. The final issue passed me by until I got home. There was supposed to be a £5 reduction for Monday lunch. That had not been given No problems with the desert. Overall it was a pleasant meal, but not one to be recommended completely. I think that I need to go back in the new year and see what the normal al la carte menu is like.

First proper day of being open so I thought I’d go in for breakfast with my pooch. Brown’s have done a lovely job with the interior bringing it up to date from a tired looking Toby carvery. I was greeted by a friendly chap who sat us down by the toilets on the bottom level, I was happy here sat in the sun on a nice & level table for 2. I ordered a cappuccino & a traditional breakfast which came to £19.20 (inc a £1.75 compulsory 10% service charge which the staff do get to keep). The drink came first which was lovely & a perfect warm up to the frosty walk I’d just done. A very nice touch with a dog bowl of fresh water for pooch. The breakfast arrived around 20mins later but was fresh. The sausages were beautiful along with the 2 perfectly fried eggs. The mushroom was very tasty but a little too salty for me. I’d consider opting for a larger pot of beans & just to give the butter a little melting before serving. Overall though it was a very warm & pleasant first experience of Brown’s restaurant & we will be returning for sure. 🐾8.5/10

When the chef later showed up, I went to get my roast, some lady that works there said I wasn't allowed to go back for seconds. I calmly tried to explain to the lady 3 times that I was getting my roast but she kept interrupting me, I asked the chef who served me if I had been before which she replied No. The worker without any apology just turned around and said.....these people just take things... I'm black by the way and did not like that comment. I asked her what she meant by these people. Very rude short lady. I was so annoyed because I paid for my meal only wanted what I actually paid for. Having waited over 15 mins our online booking was cancelled so had to inform the reception desk who wasn’t aware of our booking which explained why we watched several parties who arrived after us be seated. Then finally making it to the carvery counter there was no beef, no lamb and little else. When I enquired I was told they’d been busy to which I replied “Really!? Well that is stunning, a carvery that’s busy on Sunday at dinner time! You’d have thought you would have maybe anticipated being busy”. We arrived at 5pm having not had to negotiate as much traffic as thought, our booking was 6pm, without any fuss or drama the guy on the front desk invited us to have a drink in the bar and he would give us a shout. The barman was so friendly, I honestly thought we had gone to sleep and woke up in a different world. 25 mins later (35mins before our booking time) we where called to our table and a delightful lady named jo, she continued the same attentiveness as the other two chaps had shown, she just connected with our family of 3 adults and 2 children, nothing was too much trouble for her, she had this same connection with all the diners in her section... Amazing Update, visited 31.08.2023 with same family, served by a delightful lady named laona, sausage sandwich for 4yr old not a problem, even though it was not on menu. Carver unconcerned about the charcoal, and I mean charcoal roast potatoes on his deck, did not respond to my request to change them, when wife asked him he supplied another tray of slightly less burnt roasters.no up selling by carver either. Carver didn't display any charm to his customers, very unlike the rest of the team.. Update 21/10/2023 Although at 5.30pm on a Saturday, the place was quite full, we were shown to our table and felt a genuine welcome from the young girl who served us, we were on the table directly opposite the gravy bar. I did feel that the meat serving portion had shrunk, 3 small bits rather than proper slices, I only had one meat by the way. Thr price was £10.99 per head, the price has risen and the portion size shrunk... No discounts for blue light or defence taken on Saturdays or Sundays, another blow to our stretched finances. Guinness served tasted not smooth, more like other beer had been put in it, when I was a barman, it was common to empty drip trays into guinness barrel... Not saying that this what was done, it tasted like it though. So yes,, it was nice hot food but value for money, not so good in my humble opinion, still able to fill your face with veg and potatoes, also mac and cheese. Perhaps the tiny portion was because it was lamb.

In the past I've had hit and miss experiences with the restaurant, but even with the misses I've still returned time and time again, the past few years have been nothing but pleasant and enjoyable, the food is always to the same great standard, the waiting staff always friendly and chatty (just the right level of chatty for my slightly introverted self) and the owner is a hard working and passionate lady! I have lived around the Sutton area all of my 30+ years and the carvery in the park has always been an idyllic location of my years, whether its being an early hungover Sunday binge breakfast in my late teens or a thirst quenching trip for unlimited drinks during the scorching summer holidays of my early teens. This traditional location to this day is still a go-to for an easy dinner mid week when washing up just feels like someone else's problem. So tonight, to walk in through the double doors and see the news of the closure is incredible saddening. My last meal of gammon in the Sutton park toby carvery was probably one of the best gammon joints I've had over the years, I wish all the staff (even the traitors 😉) the best of luck in the future and would like to thank the manager and all her efforts! You will be missed, and whatever comes after will be a mistake. #bringbackthebird

We had the buffet breakfast which was generally not edible, e.g bacon and sausage very greasy and was visible. Also the eating and toilet areas looked in hygienic

Dirty toilets ruined this for me. I took my grandaughter to use the facilities. So dirty. Loo roll wrapped around brushes. Dust and dirt around cubicles.

The carvery was very nice but the deserts were very disappointing, staff were pleasant enough.

Lady at the reception was very rude and inhospitable, claimed to be fully booked however the restaurant was half empty, would not recommend this branch

Apparently they only had enough meat for those that had precooked.so said the manager. The place was empty, it was 7.45pm and when I looked there was a full turkey and gammon. Well if your face fits your welcome.it was for a party of two and one is a vegetarian. They officially close permanently on September. Great

Came here to complete some work... Fantastic hospitality from Lisa and Sofie. The food on the deck looked inviting, perfectly cooked and well presented however I was here to complete my work so didn't eat any.. Smashing location right in the park, I believe it's staying in the M And B group but shortly having a revamp and changing to the browns brand so I'm unsure if it will stay a Carvery or go to plated meals... Hopefully the staff will transfer over to the new brand and stay on site as everyone I interacted with during my visit was excellent with myself and all the customers... Very polite and professional.

Very tired buildings would benefit from an overall food that didn't look or taste fresh as it was earlier. Fri lunch, really, should have all been fresh

The waiters/ waitresses customer service is excellent so we give them a tip. Management are lovely and go above and beyond for customers to enjoy their Toby carvery experience

Where else would you go for a roast dinner if you were not cooking yourself? Outwardly this is still an impressive building, inside it is really showing signs of wear. My partner had never been before and found the waitress/server's instructions confusing and patronising at the same time. With three types of meat and unlimited veg and gravy, what's not to love? Well, the veg and meat were only lukewarm and by the time we had waited for a gravy top up even colder! The desserts were good though, as long as you are a fan of traditional British school dinners.

Went to sutton coldfield Park carvey. On a Monday. We had to ask for our own glasses for a drink. And then when they arrived they was slammed down on the table. We then went and fetched our carvey. The meat was amazing. The vegetables was good but the roast potatoes was dry and no flavour.. Will not be visiting on a Monday evening again

Skipped going to Toby in general cause of poor food quality but it seems it's on the up again. Great food, good portions in regards to meat. Friendly staff and not too busy.

I visit this establishment every fortnight on a Sunday morning to enjoy breakfast with a friend. The staff are consistently courteous & attentive, & the food is always served warm, fresh, & delicious. I have never had cause to complain about the quality of the food or service. In my opinion, this is the best Toby Carvery in the area. I have previously tried two other Toby Carvery restaurants, but the food was not of the same standard - it was often lukewarm or even cold. When it undergoes refurbishment & renamed, I will struggle to fine somewhere else to go & get the same quality service. I would like to express my appreciation for the excellent service that I have received over the past year....to the staff cook & Management. 10/10

The food was cold, this might have been due to how quiet it was. However the service was amazing with drinks coming in less than 2 minutes and the waiters/waitresses were very polite.

Great value for money! It seems like everywhere you go these days for food they’re trying to do you over on price. The Toby Carvery here in Kings Norton has remained great value and have been consistent in their delivery. Visited here during a weekday, and the service was great! We were warmly welcomed on entry and seated. It didn’t take long for drinks to arrive and then we queued for the carvery which was not too busy. I don’t really have much criticism when it comes to the carvery as the price is reflective to what’s on offer. I would suggest bringing back some more vegetable options such as sweetcorn, which wasn’t present on my trip here. Also, the meat is on the shy side when being carved. Slightly more or thicker cut slices would have earned the 5* rating along with more draft options at the bar, which is like a trip back to the early 2000’s with the choice options. The dessert was also very nice but noticed they have reduced in size since my last visit here. Either way, it tasted nice and is still a lot cheaper than most other places these days. The service here was great, and the waitresses are on their feet constantly working hard and making sure we were happy with everything throughout. They are a real credit to the franchise.

The Farmhouse is a popular place to eat. Their breakfast meat items are locally good quality sourced; the eggs had an orange yoke, another good sign of freshness.

Nice place, fantastic in summertime. Play ground for the little ones, a lot of space to play and run.
