Met up with friends here for a breakfast. Staff were pleasant and friendly. It's an all you can eat breakfast which is great. Food was good for an all you can eat and for the price. Even having a yorkshire pudding in the morning felt good! Heard that this restaurant will be closing soon which is a shame as it's a great location inside sutton park.

I dished my vegetables, potatoes and all the trimmings while waiting for the chef to cut me a portion of the roast, after waiting for a while, I went back to my table. When the chef later showed up, I went to get my roast, some lady that works there said I wasn't allowed to go back for seconds. I calmly tried to explain to the lady 3 times that I was getting my roast but she kept interrupting me, I asked the chef who served me if I had been before which she replied No. The worker without any apology just turned around and said.....these people just take things... I'm black by the way and did not like that comment. I asked her what she meant by these people. Very rude short lady. I was so annoyed because I paid for my meal only wanted what I actually paid for. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO THERE....HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!

Took half hr to seat us even though we’d booked. Having waited over 15 mins our online booking was cancelled so had to inform the reception desk who wasn’t aware of our booking which explained why we watched several parties who arrived after us be seated. Then finally making it to the carvery counter there was no beef, no lamb and little else. When I enquired I was told they’d been busy to which I replied “Really!? Well that is stunning, a carvery that’s busy on Sunday at dinner time! You’d have thought you would have maybe anticipated being busy”. Food was decent but severely lacking any semblance of organisation.

This is a review from when it was a toby carvery and not browns who have adopted the reviw....Right from the start it was just great... We arrived at 5pm having not had to negotiate as much traffic as thought, our booking was 6pm, without any fuss or drama the guy on the front desk invited us to have a drink in the bar and he would give us a shout. The barman was so friendly, I honestly thought we had gone to sleep and woke up in a different world. 25 mins later (35mins before our booking time) we where called to our table and a delightful lady named jo, she continued the same attentiveness as the other two chaps had shown, she just connected with our family of 3 adults and 2 children, nothing was too much trouble for her, she had this same connection with all the diners in her section... Amazing Update, visited 31.08.2023 with same family, served by a delightful lady named laona, sausage sandwich for 4yr old not a problem, even though it was not on menu. Carver unconcerned about the charcoal, and I mean charcoal roast potatoes on his deck, did not respond to my request to change them, when wife asked him he supplied another tray of slightly less burnt roasters.no up selling by carver either. Carver didn't display any charm to his customers, very unlike the rest of the team.. Update 21/10/2023 Although at 5.30pm on a Saturday, the place was quite full, we were shown to our table and felt a genuine welcome from the young girl who served us, we were on the table directly opposite the gravy bar. I did feel that the meat serving portion had shrunk, 3 small bits rather than proper slices, I only had one meat by the way. Thr price was £10.99 per head, the price has risen and the portion size shrunk... No discounts for blue light or defence taken on Saturdays or Sundays, another blow to our stretched finances. Guinness served tasted not smooth, more like other beer had been put in it, when I was a barman, it was common to empty drip trays into guinness barrel... Not saying that this what was done, it tasted like it though. So yes,, it was nice hot food but value for money, not so good in my humble opinion, still able to fill your face with veg and potatoes, also mac and cheese. Perhaps the tiny portion was because it was lamb.

In the past I've had hit and miss experiences with the restaurant, but even with the misses I've still returned time and time again, the past few years have been nothing but pleasant and enjoyable, the food is always to the same great standard, the waiting staff always friendly and chatty (just the right level of chatty for my slightly introverted self) and the owner is a hard working and passionate lady! I have lived around the Sutton area all of my 30+ years and the carvery in the park has always been an idyllic location of my years, whether its being an early hungover Sunday binge breakfast in my late teens or a thirst quenching trip for unlimited drinks during the scorching summer holidays of my early teens. This traditional location to this day is still a go-to for an easy dinner mid week when washing up just feels like someone else's problem. So tonight, to walk in through the double doors and see the news of the closure is incredible saddening. My last meal of gammon in the Sutton park toby carvery was probably one of the best gammon joints I've had over the years, I wish all the staff (even the traitors 😉) the best of luck in the future and would like to thank the manager and all her efforts! You will be missed, and whatever comes after will be a mistake. #bringbackthebird

Where else would you go for a roast dinner if you were not cooking yourself? Outwardly this is still an impressive building, inside it is really showing signs of wear. My partner had never been before and found the waitress/server's instructions confusing and patronising at the same time. With three types of meat and unlimited veg and gravy, what's not to love? Well, the veg and meat were only lukewarm and by the time we had waited for a gravy top up even colder! The desserts were good though, as long as you are a fan of traditional British school dinners.

I visit this establishment every fortnight on a Sunday morning to enjoy breakfast with a friend. The staff are consistently courteous & attentive, & the food is always served warm, fresh, & delicious. I have never had cause to complain about the quality of the food or service. In my opinion, this is the best Toby Carvery in the area. I have previously tried two other Toby Carvery restaurants, but the food was not of the same standard - it was often lukewarm or even cold. When it undergoes refurbishment & renamed, I will struggle to fine somewhere else to go & get the same quality service. I would like to express my appreciation for the excellent service that I have received over the past year....to the staff cook & Management. 10/10

Toby in Sutton Park is an excellent place as it is, with carvery, desserts & drinks, all at reasonable prices for a good meal out. And a very convenient location for a lot of people. We have enjoyed going there for many years. We think it is a tragedy that you are thinking of going up market and converting it to a relatively high-class restaurant. There are plenty of other places to eat locally, in that category.

When you think of a carvery, anyone will say Toby. This branch is up there, the staff are friendly and conscientious, check backs are non intrusive. I went for the King carvery, with the extra yorkie and 2 sausages (either Lincoln or Cumberland) meats were moist and tender. Veg selection was varied, and its nice that you can go back for more at no cost. For dessert I went for the hot apple pie and ice cream(definitely Mr whippy esq) and again made to perfection, especially the gentle crunch of the apples. Overall you can't fault it, worth every penny. Will definitely return.

This was the first time we had visited Toby Carvery in Sutton Park for sometime and we were very impressed with the standard of food. I had beef and turkey from the carvery which were cooked to perfection and the large choice of vegetables ensured it was a highly satisfying meal. Erin who took our order, gave us a welcoming smile and nothing was too much trouble. We both felt she is an excellent ‘ambassador’ for Toby. If I’m honest, this busy restaurant deserves to be refurbished and retained as a Toby. I’m not sure that the rumoured decision to convert this restaurant into a Brown’s is the right one.

We were more than half way through food when our drink order was taken Then on our last mouthful of food we were asked if everything was okay with our meal. Was she kidding. A few others were complaining about the same thing. In fact I think they only had one member of staff doing anything so we did take that into account Very poor service though. Not the usual level of quality food and service that I've become accustomed to at Toby Carvery. A certain server was straight rude, with no apology when delivering the information, just "No lattes, coffee machine bust this morning". Food was okay. Hash browns were pretty much burned, and the yorkies dripped grease even though they tasted/felt like they'd been there for 3 hours. Asked a different server where the toilets were, didn't even look up, just pointed left and then right and said that way or back round there. Generally disappointing.

Went here for my daughters birthday. 13th May. The table was booked under her mother's name about a week before. We arrived for 7pm and were shown to our table. We ordered drinks, and my daughter ordered a couple of starters. Now it was quiet, but the drinks took a bout 5 mins to get to us. The waitress did apologise for the delay. The starters arrived and we went to get our meals. Whilst eating them, we were told that service was closing and if we wanted any more food to go and get it. When we had finished, the table was cleared except for the garlic bread, which we received a box for, and then it was if the staff were deliberately staying away from the table. We were not offered any deserts, just brought the bill to us. Being in the trade myself, I know what it's like when it's quiet, but customer satisfaction should always be a priority. On the positive though for the we had was good value.

Arrived for our booking to for lunch, was greeted and shown our table, ordered drinks went to get our carvery and asked for a toddler plate because we had our granddaughter with us who is 4. When she goes there with her mum the staff give her a toddler plate because she don't eat meat or yorkshire pudding, just pasta and veg. The chef told us we had to ask a member of staff for the little plates. Not a problem, off we went to find a staff member at the bar ( think all member of staff was at the bar talking) . A young girl told my son we couldn't have a toddler plate and had to go back to the chef and get a childs plate. I went and asked thinking my son had asked for the wrong thing. When i get to the bar the young girl was calling my family for asking for a toddler plate. When she seen me stud there she was abit shocked. She then told me to go back to the chef So we did and he asked them for the toddler plate as my granddaughter. But she told him we couldn't have one, anyway after all of that we finally got our meal which was cold as it had been on the table for so long. We finished our food and my granddaughter should had got a desert with her main. They didn't even ask us. We paid and left. My moan isn't about the childs plate it's only £1.50 different. It's about the girl needing to get all the staff in a circle at the bar and call us. This made us feel uncomfortable and like we was being watched. I won't be going back there Anytime soon.

I came to toby carvery today for lunch with my friend and we are utterly disgusted with the management in this restaurant. We were sat near the bar so overheard the conversation that went on, a customer had ordered incorrectly and an item of food was missing ( a simple and easily rectifiable mistake if you’ve ever worked in hospitality before) the member of staff wasn’t in the wrong. Despite that, even if they were the way the manager was speaking to all members of staff was despicable its a wonder anyone still works there he was so rude and patronising on an obviously busy shift. I feel sorry for all the staff that work there and hope they dont have to deal with him too often :)

One of my worst experiences here. They seemed short of staff and food was burnt also dropped food and gravy everwhere. Even found a foreign object in my food

We love the Greenhouse and had not been for a while. So when we arranged to meet friends there for Sunday lunch we hoped it was still as good. We were not disappointed, the food was excellent and so was the service by the lovely Ellie M. Thank you Steve and everybody for looking after us. See you soon.

Absolutely awful. The food had been there for ages and some of it was hard and unable to chew properly. The service was poor. Will not be going there again

Thursday 31st October 2024, My husband and I came here for an impromptu lunch. We had not been here for some time. The Bistro had, had a complete make over and was very bright and fresh in décor and pleasing to the eye. The menu was as extensive as ever and had lots of interesting dishes to choose from. We studied the menu and made our choices and then went to the counter to order and pay for our food. The food when it arrived was served piping hot and was very well presented. My husband had the smaller full English breakfast which included a pot of tea in with the price, which he said was very nice and very filling. I had the three egg omelette with ham, mushrooms and cheese which was served with a dressed salad and golden chunky chips. It was really delicious and very filling. I washed all this lovely food down with a nice latte coffee. It was nice to spend a very pleasant hour and a half here. We will be returning in the not to distant future.
