My husband and I rarely eat in British pubs Well, this is an exceptionally great place for beer and bites and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Really friendly staff. Claudia behind the bar is amazing, with a fountain of knowledge of the area and its history. Great little old school pub. 10/10

Been there twice, loved the friendly atmosphere both times. Fondly remember watching England vs Switzerland with some regulars who were welcoming and we had a nice conversation! Will return at the end of month, promise. Til then!

Used to be a good pub now max crowd is about 4 people...drinks very expensive no food no TV place filthy counters and bar that is so sticky you stick to it

First time back in many years but such a poor experience. Furniture worn and room dirty. Toilets in poor condition. HPA and Butty Bach at £4/pint. General clarity just acceptable initially and flavour OK. Residual solids at bottom of glass. Told bar staff, "not many people drink ale." Total indifference. Avoid.

Used to be a wonderful pub when Tony was there. Now no food available, no real ales, no atmosphere. So sad

Had been in here once around 10 years ago and had a good time, was going past recently so thought I'd pop in again. Friendly and welcoming lady behind the bar, and I picked out a nice pint of HPA from the decent beer and cask ale selection. Reasonably priced too, I thought. I quite liked the classic pub ambience while I quietly enjoyed my pint.

my husband and son went to this pub as it was my sons 18th so went for his 1st legal drink with his dad, had been searching for that traditional pub feel for ages an when found this they were buzzing an have been twice since. staff lovely an welcoming. we thought these bars were all gone so was over the moon to find theres still at least one left. defo recommend to others, an going again tonight.

Went in for quick drink ,if you want a quiet pub this the place for you, still good service ,serves food..nice ambience..

Having been to the black eagle recently, we had food and the chefs were amazing great food however the site looks like it needs a clean as I would say it hasn’t been cleaned for months. Only one toilet working with a terrible smell. The food is great however the pub itself lets it down. Has great potential however needs a deep clean. Such a shame

The Sunday dinner was the best dinner I’ve had ever and I’m a foodie Chennai was our bar tender and she’s amazing 🤩 wonderful personality and friendly nature x

Ace Sunday roast. Good service and a proper hot dinner. Got loads on my veggi plate. Would have posted a pic of my mates roast but it was eaten too quickly!

It's fantastic that you've bought this beautiful little pub and basically saved it by not messing up the interior and exterior so I thank you for that. A bit of advice though - I think you really need to get somebody in there that understands real ale and keep re-stocking said ales. When I visited, you were running very low or had run out on a number of ales. I worry that without the real ales people won't want to come because that is the main draw - and I'd hate to see this place fail.

Held my moms funeral wake here yesterday. Absolutely first class. Wonderful selection of food. Made very welcome not only by staff but the regulars as well. Made a hard day easier. Special mention to Claudia. Lovely lady with a lovely heart. From the bottom of my heart I thank you all dearly.

An Oasis in a sea of small industrial businesses, always enjoy a trip here, usually 2 or 3 cask ales available, pub is split into 3 drinking areas, with a bar, lounge and back room, there is also a large dining room used for private bookings, plus a nice garden to the side of the premesis. A 3 minute walk from Soho Benson Road tram stop.

Nice little hidden gem, staff are lovely and a friendly atmosphere. Only downside is the unreliable opening hours and lack of clarity when it comes to when the kitchen is open.

Revisited here after many years absence. Still a gem. The beer was excellent. I am sure Tony (the previous Landlord) will be proud of his legacy.

Wow a hidden gem, is an understatement was having car worked on in the local area, and was suggested too pop down and visit while awaiting for things too be sorted on car, walked in and was greeted, and then placed my order for food no joke no lie 10 mins later cracking bacon sausage and tomato sandwich was popped in front of me, With a smile, by god was in absolutely beautiful presentation and tasted beautiful too. May have too swing by here a wee bit more.

Ordered on Deliveroo. Took an hour to arrive, 40 minutes of which was them making my food, a sausage and bacon sandwich and a coffee. The coffee absolutely stunk and was 90% milk. It was almost as if they had reused coffee beans from half-drunken drinks. The bacon was undercooked and chewy and I found 2 small bones in the sausages, one of which, I accidentally swallowed. I literally spat out the coffee when I drank it and had to throw it away. It was literally inedible. The sandwich was only just about edible, I only forced myself to eat it because the charged me just under £9 for a sandwich and a drink. To add insult to injury, they even charged me 10p for the cheap blue plastic bag that it arrived in.

Really excellent pub with a good selection of well looked-after ales. A very warm welcome from landlords and regulars on arrival, a nice pub well worth a visit. The Black Eagle serves a variety of british food such as breakfast sandwiches and burgers, and their sister pub the Soho Tavern just over the road serves up a good curry and tandoori offer too.. both well worth a visit.

Great traditional pub, always a friendly welcome. Staff and regulars are great. Beer is normally on top form with several to choose from. Two minutes from the metro, worth a visit.

Brilliant Authentic Pub. Brilliant Atmosphere and since the new management… Been even better! Lovely Ales, Lovely Food and Lovely Staff. Highly Recommend it for everyone. Vegan, Vegetarian and Meat!

Wonderful staff, great food, highly recommended

Great old school real ale pub with a friendly landlord. Nice beer garden with lots of wildlife and a sun trap so bring your shades! 6 handpulls on so plenty of choice. If you're on a beer crawl catch Metro to Soho Benson Road or taxi from Jewellery Quarter to get here. Taxi to Hop Garden in Harborne from here is around £7 if you're going onwards to other real ale pubs.

Lovely pub , as you enter you are warmly welcomed by the staff make you feel at home, nice variety of ales and bevarages. The food is lovely here the best breakfast in Birmingham hands down. Amazing Sunday roast , pav kash and the team there are lovely.

Very good, excellent bar woman will return again. Under new managment but still good service and a good place to chill.

The kitchen is back open and their is a new management team in place, don't worry people the service and atmosphere are still top notch and the food is even better!

Durante nuestra visita el 14/02/2020 (NO para San Valentín: P) aunque el pub estaba tranquilo, te sentiste muy bienvenidoLas 3 damas que servían (2 detrás del bar y 1 cocinera) hicieron todo lo posible para que nuestra fiesta de 9 disfrutara de nuestra noche de la mejor manera posible.Especialmente la cocinera, ella fue increíble, muy amable, te hizo sentir como si hubieras conocido sus años. Acomodar mi gusto muy adquirido, cocinar mi comida a la perfección no puedo esperar para volver!Las mesas se despejaban regularmente, por lo que no tuvimos un exceso de vasos vacíos.Siempre nos sirvieron con una sonrisa, los modales eran de uso constante y, sobre todo, muy amables¡Altamente recomendado!

The Black Eagle is a lovely vintage pub with well priced meals, especially for their size.

The food is good old fashioned home cooked. Value for money and large portions. Staff friendly and helpful.

First off this is a friendly, real ale pub!! It has a strong history of serving great ales/bitters/mild aka beers. Check out CAMRA etc. for info! Anyway, it's also a really nice and friendly pub for decent drinks and food at a really reasonable price! The do at least 8 pies (including vegan and vegetarian options) plus everything you'd want from a pub menu - fish'n'chips, shepherd's pie, liver/bacon, scampi etc. It's not gourmet but it's clean, friendly, quick and it'll fill your tummy! They also have an event room for Sunday roasts but also for evening events.

Hasta hace poco, la comida había sido excelente, pero hace unas semanas un nuevo cocinero se había hecho cargo. Las comidas no estaban al nivel habitual y todos decidimos no volver a comer allí. Sin embargo, en nuestra visita anoche, el cocinero original estaba en la cocina y la comida fue una vez más excelente, de ahí la crítica de 5 estrellas. Siempre que Sharon esté cocinando, sin duda recomendaría este pub / restaurante.

Good old fashioned home cooked food

Old style pub and decor, however what it lacks in modern looks makes up with the food, real ale, ambience and friendly staff. Food is very good standard with plenty of choice on the menu. Highly recommend and now I am a regular customer.

One of the best!!! Lovely ladies, served us masala chips even when it wasnt in the menu. A great place to have "pint and chat". Always end up having a few extra drinks when sarah's serving, she is the best.

A very good traditional pub with an interesting history. Always had a positive reputation for the food and on our visit we enjoyed home cooked pie. A good choice of real ales and one of the rare pubs in Birmingham to offer Bathams. Quirky original features and a relaxing outdoor space.

Wow! This pub seems to be steeped in tradition judging by the original features. I've always wanted to visit here based on the pub's reputation for food.I enjoyed a pint of Burton Bridge XL Mild, my partner had a Pinot Grigio. I also tried the Bathams and my partner had a wonderful Turkish Delight Gin. For our late breakfast I had meat and potato pie with chips, peas and gravy my partner had the steak and kidney pie etc.Friendly bar staff from Wednesbury (manager?).I will return and try the faggots.

Este pub todavía no está a la altura de los logros pasados.La comida es una combinación de demasiado cocido o muy poco cocido, lo cual es una molestia ya que lastima los dientes como locos y termina en la basura.Las cervezas de verdad todavía carecen de calidad, algunas están bien, pero principalmente faltan.No es el lugar era y lamentablemente probablemente nunca lo será de nuevo.

There was a small but brilliant beer festival going on - that was unexpectedly delicious. We sat in the beer garden and it was lovely in there!

Has a great Saturday night there a few weeks ago. One of the few old fashioned pubs left in Birmingham and is well worth a visit.

Not many traditional places about which take you back in time to enjoy the simple joy's of a pub, although I did have a breakfast here which wasn't great, but I did go for the beer and quite a great selection too!

Our group of five ordered different items from the menu and they all arrived together. Well cooked , large portions ,great value for money and friendly service. All washed down with an excellent pint of Bathams bitter.
