Toby Carvery in Ashfield

Spent nearly £50in the water mill food was awfull the Yorkshire pudding tasted of hot oil and the rest just tasted burnt I think the gravey was burnt so made all the food taste burnt gone down hill over the last few months

I have recently had a stomach operation and can only eat small amounts, I asked if I could have a child's meal which I was refused. My daughter wanted a child's meal and the chicken nuggets didn't look cooked and was told she couldn't have chips with her meal and had to have things off the carvery which she didn't want, so overall we were very disappointed.

Visited quite a few times! Ellie is constantly professional, kind and funny. Great with children. Will be back to see you soon! Luke, Anna, Alicia & Elsie!

Had a lovely meal here, Katie was serving our table and although she is rushed off her feet while we were there (dont think she ever stopped lol) she made sure we wasnt ignored and was polite and considerate. Only thing I would say is that this place gets super busy and I think sometimes the app doesnt reflect that in the booking system

We came here on a thursday and was a brilliant service wasn’t waiting long at all, we was served by nicole which was lovely and efficient, would definatly come again.

Our server Julie was very friendly, polite and promptly took our order. The food was plentiful and delicious. Gibbo serving the meat was friendly and pleasant too.

Staff were excellent the lady who we meet at entrance was brilliant we arrived 10 minutes early and table not quiet ready only took a minute to sort out The young lady who was waiting on our table was also excellent and very helpful and friendly The food was lovely so can't fault their Asked for quite area which was what got

Had a nice carvery here though some of the meats looked dry and people had opted for other options. Portion size okay though had more meat tye previous time I had visited, depends on your server on the day! Staff were okay as was the atmosphere. Nothing exceptional. The Maccy D's of the carvery world.

Service gone down drastically. Carvers unable to understand simply instructions. No gravy or sauce available food cold by the time I sat down. Staff reluctant to remedy the faults and other than free sweet. Won't be going back!!!

Fantastic food, as always. The staff were very polite and accommodating. Our waitress Emma was helpful, considerate and knowledgable. It was a pleasure to be served by her.

Had a fabulous 3 course meal. The food was tasty and fresh, lovely veg, very tasty and lots of choice. The meat was very succulent, Tony the server explained what we were getting Nicole was really lovely too she looked after us well

Honestly, I’ve eaten here a couple of times and this review is fair. Consistently the service here is awful, there is no attention given to guests and expect a significant delay before a drinks order is taken. If this wasn’t a carvery where you’re required to get the food yourself there is no way this location would be in business. The food is brilliant and I can’t fault the quality or taste, but the service is absolutely terrible and not deserving of 1 star.

Food was lovely staff were lovely price was a bit over however for the standard and atmosphere we didn’t mind paying that

We were made to feel welcome throughout the visit! It was clean, plenty of tables available and staff were pleasant and made us feel welcome. The veg could have been much fresher which it usually is. It was on this occasion going dry and not as hot as it normally is. This was a shame as the quality of food is excellent

Service was excellent katie was very good at her job. Didn't have to wait that long we had the carvery ,plenty of choice from meat to vegetables but the food wasn't hot. We had ice cream for pudding and it was yummy..

Meat Yorkshire vegetables all lovely roast pots could have been crisper on out side but overall lovely

We came for my dad’s birthday tea, he’s never been to Toby’s before so this was a treat. Nicole who was our server was really friendly and nice, she is good with her banter as we told her my dad was 70, she was straight in there with the charm 😂 She also was patient with the app/signal as it is quite bad in Toby’s but she sorted us right out. Bless her. Lewis who was on the carvery deck was friendly and nice also, sometimes when you go to places they cannot get you down the line quick enough with a grunt but Lewis was lovely ☺️ Tip top , thank you again ! Tea was lovely

Went to King's Mill hospital over the road for a spot of physio on my ankle after severely torn ligaments left me in agony. And a boot. That wasn't the pubs fault. Well, not unless a member of staff had happened to be forty miles away, 8 weeks earlier and shoved me over in the street. They hadn't, my wife saw me fall, unhindered, like a weak sapling in a light breeze. Still limping and gritting my teeth through the pain inflicted on me at the hospital, we ventured to the pub for lunch. It was very nice good food, excellent pub. Considering I felt nauseous through the pain that's high praise.

Nicole was our server today, she was very polite and well mannered, checked on us and gave us very fast service, lovely girl :)

We were offered the bar area, which was OK. However there was noone working on the bar so after waiting 10 minutes I had to go find someone to take the order, while 3 girls stodd chatting at the reception desk. To make it worse they looked over twice .They said the menu order wasn't brought to the table but then brought other people's orders to the table. I ordered 3 cokes. 1 tasted like the drip tray. So I went back to the bar for the gentleman to ignore me until he had served 3 people that had just got to the bar. No apology just took the coke and changed it.. No mint, apple or cranberry sauces on the station and tool them 10 minutes to refill when asked. Terrible customer service for the entire meal.

Poor service left waiting at the bar for a long time as told only bar tables left, told to collect food as not doing table service from ordering from the menu, not the carvery, then the table who ordered just after got their food brought to the table. Given wrong drinks and when queried was asked by the person who just served if I had poured these from the self service. I love Toby carveys but this has to be the poorest service I've had at any I've been too.

Second time visiting this particular Toby, and it's now my favourite. Staff are fantastic; Shoutout to Alicja! who served us, absolute credit. Lewis the carver was also very welcoming. Looking forward to visiting again!

This is a great place to go for a carvery. Everyone was friendly and our server Matt was very attentive. The portions were really good and I would definitely recommend to others.

Despite having to wait a bit for seating, there was quick service by our waiter Georgia, and the carvery was lovely, the carver Richard managed to convince me to go to king size, it was very worth it!

Went today for lunch, greeted at the door by a lovely lady, and taken to our table, from then we had the lovely Jemma looking after us she was a star, we will definitely be coming back thank you all at watermill:)

Not very sure about the food ive been 3 times for breakfast and 1 hour later my stomach is not good and im on the toilet.

Excellent roast dinner with really tender meat (thanks Kyle, you carve a mean slice of beef) and superb roasties and Yorkshire puddings. The service was friendly and efficient. When faced with the problems caused by a brief power cut, our server Matt, couldn't have been more helpful.

Great service by Georgia, so friendly and welcoming. Delicious food, the carver Kyle gave a good portion and was very kind.

The service was brilliant my waitress alicja was very welcoming and nothing was too much for her, also the carver Kyle was very respectable and very funny would recommend anyone come here

Went yesterday and was served by Chloe L, she was a wonderful waitress and was polite and helpful with my family’s needs. Meat was yummy and a good selection of veg on offer. Carver was Gibbo and was well spoken and kind.

Absolutely love the Toby Carvery. Hands down the best Carvery place out there. I go to The Watermill in Sutton-In-Ashfield and the staff their are lovely as well. Makes a big difference when visiting a place 👏🏼

Food was great as always, best carvery in the area for those lazy weekends and one of the Chefs (Michael) made our experience even better.

Best Toby I have ever been to! Cracking service, meat was plentiful and juicy, roasts crispy, veg just perfect. Manager Shaun was great, helping cater for my wheelchair bound grandmother. He even made a fuss over my toddler and made his day.

Went in for a monday lunch, i was greeted by shaun who quickly helped us to our table then my waitress chelsea was very well spoken and helpful with our starters and puds!! our caver lewis was very polite and generous with my meat portions, the veg was nice and fresh and was extremely tasty will be back again very soon!!!

Well organised and the carvery was excellent. Only downside was the queue to get to the carvery and people doubling back because they decided they wanted to add something else to their plate.

Regular visititor for both breakfast and carvery, staff are always pleasant and food is always to standard.

The waitress was great, but the meat was tough and the cleanliness of the restaurant was diabolical.

I came in last Sunday, it was busy as expected, and we did have to wait a while to be seated, but this was expected due to not booking. Our server, Georgia, came over and took our order, drinks arrived quickly. There was quite a long line for the food, but it was worth the wait, the carver Chris gave us a good amount of meat. We did have kids who were hyper at the time, but our server interacted with them directly, and made them feel very included. Overall a good experience

Arrived on time and was seated on time. We ordered drinks went to get out food and we're half way through our meal with no drinks in sight. We ordered bottomless drinks, all they had to do way bring empty glasses and we were 5 feet away from the bar. I had to flag down the waitress who had clearly forgotten. The food was very nice, beefs a tad fatty. Would have liked broccoli and parsnips available. Waitress didn't seem to busy when it came to us paying. It shouldn't take 25 minutes to get 2 empty glasses

The carvery coukd improve on roast potatoes they are not really roasted not at all crispy like roast should be. The cauliflower was almost raw

Fantastic food, brilliant price, all fresh and refill drinks! Love this place and only started using within the last year! Recommend to family, couples anyone really! Staff are always friendly even when its peak times and really busy!

I thought the price of 3 adult carverys 1 child’s carvery and one child’s chicken nuggets which wasn’t cooked properly and not edible and a drink each was £83 they gave us 3 king size which we didn’t ask for but got charged for overall I thought it was poor value for money and 5 out of 10 for food quality should be lower due to the nuggets but the carvery was at least edible much better restaurants close by with better value for money

I love this place. I've been twice this week once to spoil mum and the second time I didn't know about was for my daughter and family to spoil me. The place is exceptionally clean and the staff are happy to help with anything. The chef is always a happy chappie, his food is amazing too. Whilst I've never seen the cleaning staff, I'd also like to thank them too, as I've never seen the place dirty yet. Looking forward to my next visit guys, thank you so much for all you do.
