Came here for Mother’s Day and what a lovely day it was. Food exceptional and great value for money staff absolutely amazing couldn’t do enough for us. The pub has a very friendly atmosphere and is spotless lots of seating and great parking will deffo be returning. Highly recommend you won’t be disappointed.

Had a fantastic meal last night for valentines 💌 the whole night was perfect the room was really romantic , the staff were brilliant and the meal was absolutely delicious , have been for food before and is always lovely , they really went the extra mile last night to make everyone’s valentines night extra special 💌 welcomed with glasses of Prosecco and given a little love sweet box on way home ( very cute ) 🥰. Will definitely recommend celebrating any special day/night with the Duke in future xx

Having eaten here before I was confident about the food, service and welcome, and I was not disappointed. This occcasion was a celebration with more than 20 people joining at various times. Tables were booked individually and staff switched the seating to mean we could eat while in close proximity, chatting between tables. Coming from as far away as Chesterfield, everyone raved about revisiting. I have highly recommend people here before and stand by that recommendation.

First time visit for Sunday lunch.Food was well presented, hot and very tasty, choice of 3 sizes and good value for money. Definitely be coming again.😋😋

13 Friends & Myself From the Aphasia Mansfield Group went to the Duke of Wellington, on Tuesday 6th February, the staff were really friendly & nothing was too much trouble. They went above & beyond to satisfy everyone. Absolutely lovely people !! I would definitely recommend trying this lovely place, Great atmosphere, great food, great customer service. We will definitely be back soon!

We came in as friends / family … 3 children and 3 adults on sunday (4th feb) and wow o wow were we impressed!!!!!! first of all the staff were just lovely!!!!!!!!!! All the adults had a roast which was so tasty and the amount of meat you got was amazing and very generous!!!!!! And the children LOVED their meals …. and my food loving son said it was the best burger he’d ever had !!!! We cant wait to come back ! Thank you !!

Well went for food at The Duke of Wellington! All I can say is omfg! I cnt explain how fantastic the service and food was! The staff were brilliant and the chef is next level! Us lot have eaten in some of the best restaurants in the country! And this was up there, will deffo be going again!

Worth a try, both the chicken and vegetarian Thai curries were lovely! And the puddings!

Lovely friendly pub Great quality Sunday lunch. Plenty of food options and super ales. Turned up without a booking and the manager couldn’t have done more and found us a table. Would recommend popping in if you’re passing.

Great atmosphere and friendly service. The menu gave choice of Sunday lunch meats or vegetarian options, plus an additional selection for those not wanting the Sunday lunch experience. First time we’ve been for dinner, we went for Sunday lunch with the family. Family said there meats was perfect, I had the nut roast and loved it. Will definitely be returning !

After hearing how lovely this food was we decided to try for ourselves, and so glad we did! Not only was the food absolutely beautiful, the staff were really friendly and couldn’t look after us enough, nothing was too much trouble, we ordered our food which we didn’t have to wait long for at all, the chef personally asked us if we were enjoying it too! I would definitely recommend trying this lovely place, fab food, fab customer service! We will definitely be back soon! 😊

Since the new menu was launched in October along with a new Chef, the quality of the food has gone from rustic & good to classy & awesome. The standard of food is reflected in the price but this is still below more established quality...

If you are a Forest fan and Forest are on the telly...... What a place to be. Great atmosphere even if you're not. Great food great atmosphere great service and great people. If you're not local you're welcome anyway. Loved it 👍👍👍

A fabulous meal for four of us tonight. I had the peppered braised beef which was cooked to perfection with lots of lovely fresh cooked veg. Followed by Xmas pud. Great service and the we were entertained by Newstead brass band. A fabulous night 😄

Old school local pub. The menu was a refreshing change with lots of original dishes and only a few old favourites.Really enjoyed our homecooked dinner! Lots of seating for a meal with a small separate bar in the front if you just wanted a drink and company while watching the match in telly there.

Brand new menu here it the Duke and it didn't disappoint, infact the meals were cooked to perfection and were absolutely spot on, good portions too. Keep up the good work Hannah and team. Brad & family

Stopped here with the wife for a few drinks last night. The initial service was brilliant however once we sat down with our drinks a group of men sat near us started speaking loudly about inappropriate things. One man in particular was saying these things...

Had my reception in the function room, walked in and the decorations were layed out perfectly. We had it booked for 6 and we went in at that time. However the DJ that we had booked through the pub turned up 5 mins before and took him an hour to start playing our playlist. All in all the organisation, attitude and vocabulary could be much, much better on his end. Bar staff were helpful and friendly, food was basic but that was to be expected.

Met two friends for a light lunch and reserved our table ahead in the tap room as my friends have a well behaved dog. You can reserve In the Lounge area too where we have dined before all good rooms The food was promptly served piping hot like homemade quality chicken and mushroom pie chips garden peas and lovely tasty gravy. Great choices on the reasonably priced menu. All three of us enjoyed our meals very much.

A cosy country pub with common sense. Clean, tidy with beer and food prices really well. Quite the surprise. We will be back.

Proper local friendly pub with a really good range of quality beers and other falling down water's, outstanding home made food,really good atmosphere helped along by the fantastic patrons and staff, kids, dogs and Morris Dancers are all welcome, free music supplied from a iPad on the wall (bring your own five year old to operate it if required) all are welcome to pop there favourite tunes on, live music once a month, Sky and BT Sports with Bar Billiards, Darts board, Skittles, Quiz night, Open the Box, Sticky 13's and other prize winning games to boot... M.B. 10/10

We booked the Eileen Proctor night for 7th December 2022, for this to be cancelled 2 hours before the show was about to start. I had to message the facebook page to see when this would be reschduled and they told me it was now going ahead 15th February. The week before this was due to go ahead, I messaged the facebook page to make sure this was still happening as I hadn't seen any advertisement for this. It took 3 facebook messages, an email and 3 phone calls for me to get a response. The response when they finally answered the phone was a rude lady telling me she knew nothing about the event and nothing was in the diary. I asked if the manager could call me as we had paid £45 for this and needed the refund. All I got was a rude facebook message saying she didn't have time to call me back and it had been rescheduled again for April. At this point, they were just making up dates just to tell us anything. My friend (who booked the tickets) went in to collect the refund which they said we could have to be greeted by a rude huff from the waitress and to be told we had to wait. Would not recommend to visit this pub as my first and only experience has been disgusting.

Popped in for a pint. Was really welcoming. The blonde barmaid..I think her name was Jade..was very welcoming! Rushed off her feet. Did it all on her own! Not sure if she owns it..but she should!! Poor gal deserves a pay rise!

We have been to the Duke stacks of times for drinks but never for food, well let me tell you the Sunday dinner was first class, just like me gran used to make, they even do the old school puds as well, and the prices are unbelievably reasonable, think we will be back for a lot of Sundays to come, good friendly efficient service, a big shout out to y'all.

If there's one thing I can say about this place is that it's amazing! It's been My local for a long long time. I will not go many other places, The atmosphere is so . chilling, I always feel calm and right at home. The staff have became friends and the landlady cannot do enough to make your visit welcoming , just feel as though we have an extended family. Thank you team Duke for always making us feel welcome 😀

pint , atmosphere , service all great

I was passing by this pub and popped in for a quick pint. I believe it's the job of a bar staff member to stop customers from swearing every other word for a ten minute period. However when it's a member of the bar staff behaving in this manner one can only conclude that you cannot take a lady or business contact into the pub, ever. 24/11/22.

A busy little boozer that accommodates for the lowest common denominator but lack anything that makes it stand out. It's got the usual suspects of fizzy largers and bar swill, but unfortunately is heavily lacking on the real ale side with only one pump working with a middle of the road inoffencive ale. We looked at the menu for food but we're bitterly disappointed with the options. Again, there is very little imagination and nothing to stand out... We got the feeling that food is very much an afterthought. We decided not to order food and go elsewhere.

Not good at all. Sulky , uninterested staff. Can’t comment on food as I was told at 2.40pm I couldn’t order food as lady in kitchen finishes at 3pm.!!Dark and dingy decor. Wouldn’t bother trying again.

Was served mouldy cheese on jacket spud. Which was last choice after wanting a curry told unavailable then asked for pasta told unavailable. If going for a drink it's great friendly bar staff. But I would give the food a miss just reheated in microwave

It’s a difficult with this place, walked in to the tap room with drunk blokes glaring at us, as it was poorly marked where the ‘restaurant’ side was. Made our way to the ‘restaurant’ in reality it’s a few tables and chairs with nothing on them. No menu’s on tables, cutlery etc. everything to say it’s not serving food really. I think the owners or a relation to the owners were in, very loud, everyone gets to hear their business… fortunately there were only us in. their children running around (which ordinarily I don’t mind with a small baby of my own) but when your kinda representing the business maybe don’t have your own running around. Could hear the microwaves pinging with our food. I didn’t expect it to be too fresh to be honest with the pricing , however £17 for two mains and a children’s should be fresher. The lady who we could hear all her business in the bar, put her pint down when the dinner bell rang, and gave us our 1970’s placemats and cutlery. Nostalgic really, although she didn’t smile and ask if we wanted anything else, she did give us a pint of vinegar on the table, even though we all had mashed potatoes. Food was as to be expected, bless the lady in the kitchen, she no doubt does her best and I can’t fault her. Personally the pub would suit a restaurant atmosphere but unfortunately they seem more focused on the boozing culture in there. Maybe a few more years down the line I’ll try again. For now though there’s much better choice a stones throw away.

I have been here before but not recently. First impressions today were not good. Our table was booked for 12:00 and the lady who unlocked the door disappeared into the kitchen and nobody else appeared for a few minutes. There were no menus either. Eventually a young girl came and gave us a menu and served us drinks. We ordered the steak and mushroom pie and it was absolutely delicious. All home cooked and piping hot. Good value at £6.95. This pub used to be very busy on a Sunday and it’s a shame that it isn’t the case now. It has recently been refurbished and is clean with a nice decor. The food is definitely 5 star if you don’t want anything fancy just home cooked tasty food. The staff are friendly too

I really like the duke of Wellington but due to covid compilations they are like many up against it . Good food but I think they should put an A board outside for passing costermers

I would prefer not to give them a 1 star review. He came to our table and falsely accused us of smoking weed in front of the entire pub. He said he was going to bar us due to this. I spoke to the manager ,( who accused us) and asked him why he did that because it was so rude. He responded with he knows everyone in this pub and no-one would do that. VERY VERY RUDE
