Toby Carvery in Barnsley

Carver Harry cut me some beautiful slabs of fatty marbled pork and beef and Server Charlotte provided wonderful table service and help with getting all the vouchers to work in the app.

Amazing staff, tasty food and lots of it, great service, ten out of ten, good value for money ,look forward to returning. Thankyou.

Cannot believe the difference in quality from the carvery to the breakfast. Carvery fantastic, breakfast inedible. Called in Saturday morning for 2 breakfasts and the service was fine but the food was terrible. The place wasn’t busy so I can only assume that’s the reason for the stale food. Eggs were inedible, bacon solid and over cooked, Yorkshire puds like cardboard and certainly not fresh, beans tasteless, mushrooms all wilted, potato dish was ok. Literally had probably 5 mouthfuls and left. Just short of £25 for two cokes and a disgusting breakfast. Absolutely would never return even if it was a fraction of the cost. Spoons looks like luxury compared to this! Shame

Me and my family come here on a regular basis. Recently, we were served by Donna. She made sure our food orders were taken and delivered to us promptly. She did a fantastic job. Our carver John took our carvery orders promptly as well and gave us nice portions of our requested meats. The food was nice and warm, our desserts were delicious too.

Excellent service as always ,the food was delicious, it's our local carvery we visit a couple of times a month , Charlotte S was our very helpful friendly waitress and asset to the business

Can't speak highly enough. Carverys are always a bit basic in terms of cuisine but this one definitely ranks way up there. The staff were wonderful and so friendly. Donna who served us in particular was fantastic. Will 100% be using this place again. Wonderful

A lovely meal with fantastic staff. This particular evening the carvery had had to cope with visitors from two other carveries, so unfortunately had almost run out of meat. However, given this challenging situation, all the staff were so apologetic and friendly- they couldn’t have done more. Ruby, our waitress, in particular was so fantastic at serving us- checked on us constantly and was and incredibly friendly. Whilst not our favourite meal in Toby, we accept the extenuating circumstances and appreciated the service more than ever. Well done Ruby and crew!

The carvers ( Ted and Harry ) were excellent at accommodating to my dietary requirements, the handsome carvers also gave my friend some extra meat in which filled her up significantly ☺️

AMAZING!!!Our server Kacey was wonderful a very beautiful woman, her tiara made me smile. She was VERY kind and was constantly checking up on our meals. The carver Harry was nice too.

Won't be giving this place anymore of our custom. Family of 8 and every meal was dire!! Felt sorry for our waiter as all he could do was apologise on behalf of the so called Chef (I would be embarrassed at turning out such over cooked food!) Pity they don't do Minus ratings! Not usually into complaints but this needs to be addressed by management. From what I saw, others weren't happy either, I think someone just got up snd walked out!!

Our first visit to Dodworth The venue is very pleasant the staff are very nice and welcoming. Our server was Charlotte who was very pleasant and attentive. The carvers were Ted and John who were quite the double act which made our experience at Toby a good one so 4 stars to the staff. But now to the important part of our visit the food. We had the cavery which was for the money good value. The meat and vegetables were good but big let down were the yorkshire pudding terrible sad and rubbery what a let down. So would I visit again yes I would hopefully the yorkshires will have improved

Carvery was disgusting gammon undercooked roast beef chewy roast potatoes inedible due to being rock hard. Plates were cold and so was gravy. Spoke to person in charge and she at least said there would be no charge. Would never return to any Toby Carvery

Great looking carvery, served promptly. Disappointed to find a hair in the stuffing while eating. The waitress did professionally handle our complaint, which was referred to the manager, who removed the stuffing from the carvery immediately and recompensed us. Good food, slight mishap on this occasion. Don’t forget to input car registration on tablet.

Let's start with the positive. Carver Henry customer service skills excellent and welcoming. Food well presented with plenty of choice. Now for the negative - server Donna. Concerned that she was having either a really bad day or that previous reviews regarding how friendly she is/was are inaccurate comments. When taking our order she never smiled, her manor was sharp and somewhat abrupt. Don't expect cartwheels but a simple hello and a smile goes a long way."What do you want to drink?" "Pudding?" Not offered coffee or tea and went to get the bill before we could ask. Funny as the table of gentleman nearby were either regulars or friends as they received a very different approach. We did feel as though we should have apologised for choosing to dine at Toby Carvery, Dodworth.

Called here for something to eat, have visited before but immediately noticed how much better everything was. Nicely decorated restaurant, lovely greeting from our server, Charlotte. The carvery selection had also undergone a transformation - choice, of beef, turkey, gammon, roast pork or roast lamb. Henry the carver was polite and pleasant. Generous portion of meats, lovely Yorkshire pudding, and an exceptional choice of vegetable as and potato dishes. Very impressed with the quality on offer and would recommend

Food was fab, waitresses and bar staff were fab. Great prices, absolutely brilliant. Apart from the chefs. We were trying to pick up the tongs for parsnips ect. They were burning hot. A lady pointed this out and the chefs behind the counter predominantly a younger one was really really rude to her. It was completely unnecessary, there was zero reason to be so rude. Like I say, the waitresses were amazing. They went out of their way to be sooo helpful and deserve medals. I know it was hot today and that must of been tough on all the staff . Being rude to that woman for no good reason though, was poor.

Food was spot on, Chelsea was brilliant and got us what we needed. Always love a carvery and at short notice got us sat down quickly

Quickly shown to our table on arrival & our server Kacey gave a friendly & efficient service sorting out a drinks order & pointing us to the carvery which we had decided on. At the carvery, Harry asked for our choices & carved the meat expertly. Another member of the team was checking the veg & bringing fresh dishes. The Apple sauce had run out. The food was all hot, well cooked & tasty. The Toby app gives free treats & carveries too. A value for money meal.

Dinner was lovely, customer service was brilliant & plenty of car parking spaces available. Overall the visit was amazing 😀

I wouldn’t bother booking, can’t get your table anyway. Walked in seemed like they had over booked. Reported people arrived late and had therefore put the service behind. If people arrive late they should lose their table or you are taking too many bookings

As always a fantastic Sunday lunch and great service from Donna 11/10 and the two carvers 10/10. Excellent parking please remember to put your car registration in the machine at reception.

Our hostess Ruby took such good care of us. She sat us down, visited with us and took care of us even before our server got there. She is a positive reflection on the Toby Carvery experience.

AVOID at all costs, I called for coffee on Saturday morning it was the first time we'd been and were unaware of the parking requirements, no one asked us if we had entered our reg, never even thought we'd have to do this as it's a pub/restaurant. Needless to say we won't be going again £100 parking fee !!!

We visited Sunday for Mother’s Day . Had a great visit the staff all really pleasant and they all work really hard . Very busy Toby only expected this as it was Mothering Sunday but this didn’t stop the staff looking after us really nice visit lovely food . Went here yesterday for mothers day with my mam and two sisters . The moment we walked in it was like a cattle market which was understandable been mother's day . Well told to go in bar area while table was ready . Right they squashed 4 of us in a tight corner in the bar my mother is disabled . I went and told them I booked a month ago for the resturant she said you in resturant which I said no its bar .told her we were squahed my mam carnt walk properly and she couldn't carry carvery .to which she said will get someone to carry it I can carry it but not the point .anyway we all go up the staff serving the wS a rude one my sister asked for beef but could she have the fresh beef as the one he was cutting from was very fatty ti which he said rudly all meats fatty other beef same if I give you that ya will send it back .to which she said meat as got a bit of fat in but that will choke so.eone he just shrugged is shoulders .got dinner had to weave in and out of people stood up so not to spill. We usually visit the Wakefield Toby Carvery, not anymore. Dodworth Valley is now our go to. Everything was spot on, great selection of meat and various vegetables. Everything tasted beautiful, piping hot. Abbie was attentive, always checking that everything was okay, if we needed anything to give her a shout. Lovely Sunday lunch experience. Highly recommend

Not a great experience, seems to have gone rapidly downhill. Shown to a dirty table, food underneath the table. Gristly pork, undercooked parsnips and cauliflower cheese, serving spoons too hot to touch... Delays in service, obviously short staffed and it wasn't busy.
