Disappointing. Vegetables were hard. Roast potatoes were very pale not roasted enough.

Nice restaurant! Often a bit busy, but food is always worth the wait! Definitely worth going for the roast dinner! 🧑‍🍳

Grubby restaurant, litter on floor. Chef at carvery casual in speech and actions. No beef available, told 'you've got what's left'; poorly presented vegetables; asked for potatoes to be refilled, told that had started a fight in the kitchen; bowls of condiments empty. First waitress was pleasant but disappeared after told of our concerns. Second waitress offhand and clearly wanted us gone. Will not return.

We came for a family celebratory meal, but were disappointed. We were told we were too late for the beef, so had less choice of meat . One of our party had salmon en croute, but the pastry was burnt inside. The sprouts tasted like frozen sprouts which I'm not keen on, I love fresh sprouts and that's what I expected. The waitress who brought our tea and coffee had a casual attitude. Also I noticed dropped vegetables on floor by the serving area, and under some of the tables . All in all, not a pleasant experience.

Great value cooked breakfast. I got to choose the best crispy bacon! Would be great if they had continental options but for cooked breakfasts it was fab.

AWFUL… I took my family who were visiting from New Zealand on their last day here as a “treat” what a mistake! The greeting was nowhere to be seen, there were 8 of us, we sat in the bar as they couldn’t fit us in the restaurant. That’s fine, but the food was not! The plates. They were dirty, greasy and food residue was still on them, we went through at least 10 before we found an acceptable one, they also need replacing, old, crazed just horrible! Cutlery far from clean! The food was badly cooked, cheap and just unappetising. The fried eggs looked just awful, some were undercooked, some over cooked, cheap sausages, flacid was the word that sprung to mind, bacon, stuck together and overcooked all of it was obviously picked for its cheapness including fried potatoes, hash browns, beans and tomatoes and bullet like tiny mushrooms. It was a miserable experience. I apologised to my relatives. Said it had declined drastically since the last time we ate there. The building and decor also looked tired, for want of a better word! We won’t go again. I wouldn’t bother going if I were you.

Me and my friends always enjoy a Toby carvery, we didnt have a booking but Ellie was quick to find us a table. Shane was my server today and he was excellent and very attentive to our needs. Overall we had a very welcoming and enjoyable experience. Food was amazing as always

Had a lovely carvery here with my partner today. Even though it was busy, the food was still hot and coming out fresh and our waiter Kye was so full of positivity and energy, always making sure we were okay and didn’t need anything. 10/10

New girl is horrendous. She must of forgot there was tables around the corner because multiple tables were left for 45 minutes for bills or desserts. Absolutely embarrassing

We've been here on a few occasions several years ago and was really happy but tonight we ordered a takeaway and I stood for well over an hour past the collection time. During this time I saw between 10 and 15 delivery drivers (just eat etc) and well over 20 delivery orders leave. Many just popping in and waiting a few mins before leaving again. I asked twice where the order was and was told they were busy and the chef continued bringing out delivery orders. When ours eventually came, half of it was missing and I had to return for the missing bag. No apology. Many people waiting 30 mins for their pre booked tables. All in all when we eventually got the order it was 6pm (445pm collection time). For over £50 I don't think we'll bother next time

Your staff were brilliant, friendly and helpful. Access in a wheelchair is difficult. Your planters need weeding etc. turkey was excellent. Beef fatty and grizzly. Some vegetables missing. Cauliflower Luke warm. Roast potatoes superb.

Very chaotic. No glasses so had to wait ages for our drinks. They also ran out of cutlery so people had their roasts with nothing to eat it with. Pepsi machine was out of syrup. Not the best visit. We spent over £100. Won’t be back.

Came for a birthday carvery, choice of meats is fab, and selection of veg on offer is great too. Not seen dumplings on a carvery before, but these were an additional tasty choice. We brought our own cake and it was no problem for the staff to keep this until we needed it, even lit the candles. All in all highly recommend.

Only issue we had is we where a party of 9 and we had too sit of seperate tables which wasnt ideal. We booked plenty a few weeks in advance so feel plenty of notice was given too be able too accomdate us all. Lady on the front was a little bit moody and shitty towards us when we tried too explain that we was a party of 9

Very nice here. Only thing I would say is that will say they don't have things like veggie gravy at breakfast which they r supposed to have but when we asked the bar staff they asked the kitchen and they made it for us.

Wow! This is the most amazing carvery ever! We felt as if we needed a treat so we ordered a roast and the food was absolutely delicious. The staff are so kind, welcoming and friendly. We can't recommend it enough. Thank you for looking after us so well!

The worst carvery of my life. Rude chef, vegetable, potatoes,gravy,apple sauce etc empty, ( at 12.45, service till 2pm) food cold. Manager asked if we wanted to go and get more or have refund. My father ate it cold because he was very hungry and needed to take meds. Mum and I didn't want more,it put us off. Waited almost 15 mins to pay. It seems they want to keep packing customers in, but then can't cope with service. Overall rating 0.

We stood waiting for 10 minutes as there were no serving staff. The meat portions were small, and the beef offered was the scrag end. But overall the food was good, and a new piece of beef was tender. A good value meal.

Cold food, poor service will not be going back

We visit here often as the roast is very nice. We always seem to be able to find a table. Staff are nice and the gravy is very good.

The food was enjoyable, some of the meat a little dry but overall good and plenty of it. Lilly our waitress was a lovely lady. The Honeycomb Sundae was to die for, yum! Cocktails were delicious.

Firstly want to start with the drinks. Had 2 small bottles of Diet Coke, when the barman said £7.10 if I had balls I’d of dropped one! That’s absurd, you are robbing people. Now the food…it was blah. Beef dripping roast potatoes didn’t taste like beef dripping roast potato’s. Yorkshire pudding looks impressive but don’t taste impressive. Gravy… tasted like brown water. On plus side meat was nice.

Attended the weekly quiz. Ross the quiz master is brilliant. Top gent, perfect balance of professional and a good fun. Highly recommend.

when we walked in we did not have a booking however Maisie still managed to find us a seat despite how busy they where. beth and shane’s service was fantastic even though they where clearly rushed of there feet. i thoroughly enjoyed my meal today with my sister. will 100% be coming back and will recommend to friends and family.

We arrived during a busy period and the host happily found us a table, the food was amazing, and the service was perfect! Shane and Bethany were friendly, sweet and very accommodating! Will be returning

We love carvery at The George but on this visit they were clearly understaffed - they were all working very hard, but queues for the carvery took over 30 minutes. When we did get to the front of the queue, we found our vegetarian melts had been kept next to the beef carving station and had debris from carving on them, making them inedible for us. The rest of our party had already collected their carvery before our vegetarian options were ready so, after queuing ourselves for a further 30 minutes, they had finished their meal. It’s not the staff’s fault at all - there were too few of them and they were looking exhausted - but it was a disappointing experience this time round and my partner left without eating.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Toby Carvery in the George Roborough, and I must give a special shoutout to Ellie, who made our visit truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, Ellie greeted us with a warm and friendly smile, making us feel right at home. Her attentive service throughout the meal was impeccable—she anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, and nothing was too much trouble for her. Ellie’s knowledge of the menu and recommendations were spot-on, and she made sure our drinks were always topped up. What stood out the most was her genuine care for ensuring we had a great experience. It’s rare to find such dedicated and personable service, and Ellie’s efforts truly elevated our meal. The food was delicious, but it was Ellie’s outstanding service that made our visit unforgettable. We’ll definitely be returning and will be sure to ask for Ellie! Five stars without hesitation.

Want very happy with serving the meat it was so paper thin and very little also not very hot we r paying for my nephew had little bits as if it was a child meal it didnt go down to well

Very disappointed with breakfast today. No fried bread, no scrambled egg, the food was lukewarm at best and the bacon was solid, hash browns were hard and dehydrated. I have visited this place lots of times but today was shocking, I will try the lord louis next time.

Really enjoyed meal, was hot n delish👌 Where we sat was very warm but staff member on request opened window for me n perfect temperature there after. (only warm as sat opposite the carvery serving). Brad helped me with the Wowcher voucher i had previously paid for (main n dessert for 2 people). Was very simple but i had been afraid i may loose the e'mail if i tapped on anything incorrectly. The vegetables were varied and well cooked, neither too firm nor too soft. The meat was great but they could give slightly more than they do. The young servers are very pleasant and work hard. 😁

We went for an evening meal with grandchildren (youngest was 10). Booked a table for 6 in advance but maybe shouldn't have bothered. Table wasn't ready and was then shown to a table for 5. An extra chair was found and we squeezed in. All but the vegetarian went for the carvery. Good selection of meats and all were well cooked. Good selection of veg all suffering from exposure to heat-lamps, but they were edible. Roast and mashed potato was awful. The vegetarian option was cooked and placed under the lights, we had been told that they would tell us when it was brought out but it had been left under the lights for some time. Desserts were fine and the waitress was attentive and keen to rectify mistakes. Overall the meal was good value for money and I would go back. If you are a potato lover, you may want to find somewhere else!

The service from staff was brilliant very warm and welcoming, always making sure everything was to a great standard, it was a very hot day yesterday so staff kept making sure all windows were open and that there was a breeze for customers and other staff to feel comfortable. Food was absolutely divine once again .

Me and my boyfriend had a carvery. The red cabbage was completley tastless which was disappointing. There was 4 types of gravy but only two of them were marked so it was confusing to know which one was meat and which one was vegeterian. Q was hughe and quite busy on a Sunday afternoon. We had a nice drink in the garden beforehand.

Meat was amazing. Had gammon, beef and pork. Yorkshire pudding, gravy, carrots, mac and cheese, all incredible. Pub itself has an amazing atmosphere, bar staff super friendly. The sausages were terrible. Like breakfast sausages that were kept under a heat lamp for 3 hours, put in the fridge and then reheated for dinner. Disgusting if I'm honest. And the roast potatoes were clearly overcooked and reheated resulting in that dry burned taste where the skin is kinda like cardboard. Disappointing for a Toby. Why the roasts and sausages were allowed out im unsure. The server at the carvery tonight also looked so unbelievably depressed. I do hope they're okay. I also overheard a few things which makes me believe management may have some issues with their culture and how they treat bar staff. I do hope I'm wrong about that.

I am disabled. I'm in a large mobility scooter and I was able to get into the property and to a table easily. The friendly staff welcomed me and the girl got my drinks and even collected my dinner from the carvery for me. The meats were full ogf the bone soft but no bones. Very nice roast in there.

Absolutely appalling service staff talking away drinking energy drinks ignoring customers at the bar waited ages to check in kept walking past not even looking at you or to say be with you soon. The manager needs to be on the ball but she enjoys yapping herself and laughing with staff Badly run restaurant and ignorant staff

Staff are helpful and friendly. Food is alright. It's a standard carvery roast. Some weeks are better than others. Puddings are mostly good but would avoid the rice pudding, it's a weird kind of slop.

Choice of vegetables not always available and meat dried up

Drove all the way out there to be met with a tacky sign saying bookings only. We checked on the website before we left and nothing had been communicated about this. The place with empty too! A man drinking a pint outside said it was because they ran out of meat…: what … it’s a Wednesday. Maybe comms this on your website. The staff didn’t say anything to us as were busy having a laugh though we made eye contact. We felt embarrassed like we use stupid for coming due to staff.

Not been here for a while as we have been disappointed but today we really enjoyed the carvery also our waitress Paige was helpful and friendly which makes a difference

Lovely food and very friendly staff

Despite previous great visits, on Sunday ques were excessive, so some on the table had finished food by the time others had returned with their plate. We were also seated in an area where there was a blocked drain (staff stated they were aware of this) and waves of excrement could be smelt whilst trying to eat. We complained and the manager reduced the bill by a measly £3.99! I'd rather pay full price and not smell excrement. If they was aware of the issue they should have closed this part of the restaurant. Father's day meal ruined.

Breakfast is really nice really worth the money

We only went to the restaurant, which was lovely food. But if you order a child’s portion (due to surgery I have to) make sure they give you a small plate because you will get charged for an adults if you have the larger plate despite how little you have on it.

I can’t even describe how rude the manager of this place was towards me. I went there to pick up a order and was the first person in the queue then I asked politely about the order to be collected and OMG, she was extremely rude and a complete nonsense, I tried to explain that the deliveroo order was ready to be collected so it wouldn’t take a second to give it to me so I could leave the place to the costumers behind me. (But she clearly thought that my job wasn’t that important and that I had time to just sit down and wait until she sorted out all the 10 people behind me) … what a absolutely disgusting behaviour. Being kind cost nothing, and it doesn’t matter if you are busy or not. You are not more important or special than others.

Very good place for a roast we ho regularly.

I had been a bit reluctant to go as the past few times were less than impressive. I was going to review today anyway, as this was my 4th visit in the past few months and I wasnt holding much hope to be honest. But my partner wanted to go, so we did. This time was a huge improvement. The beef wasn't chewy like it had been almost everytime, and there was a much larger selection of veg. All in all, very good.

I came for breakfast at 10am, and although it was early, carys was extremely friendly and welcoming, had a lovely chat with her, very enthusiastic about her job. i thoroughly enjoyed my experience breakfast was lovely as always, and the staff just as good.

Great hot carvery, good choice of vegetables and meat. Lovely staff as well. Tasty puddings as well, alcohol and coffee available.

The food itself looked overcooked and unappetising. It tasted pretty bland.As fir signature gravy - almost zero taste ! Meat portions were also on the mean side , 2 slices of 2 meats , both thin and on the small side. Refillable drinks were good value but a tasted watered down. Staff were the only positive.

Was my birthday so thought we go here food was disappointing and awful lamb didn’t taste like lamb and chewy parsnips completely burned veg is always same old veg boring bland never cabbage who has macaroni with roast bland had to ask chef to fill spuds up and had to queue 20 mins as busy only 1 chef serving on a sat last time was bad thought try again this time was worse not sure what is going on with the food lately but taste awful so bit disappointed for my birthday meal wish went elsewhere

The restaurant appeared to be understaffed and wasn't accepting walk ins, we had however booked 2 weeks ago. The service was steady and the 2-3 girls serving in our area were working tirelessly. All but 2 tables were fully occupied in our area and some were large groups of 8 - 12 people. The food is what you expect from a Toby and Defense Discount after 7pm Friday discount made the night out incredibly reasonable. Credit to the staff

Visited on Easter Saturday! All 4 meats were on, had the large plate and took the opportunity to fill up the plate! Everything was beautiful!

Had a carvery with 3 others meal was very nice. Clean and tidy in the restaurant ,staff were very helpful . unfortunately, there were two toilets out of use in the ladies, so there was a queue .
