Sainsbury's in Plymouth

Just had a really good time at my local Beefeater Josh served us and was excellent. We were treated with polite respect and good sense of humour. We chose the fish and chips which was delicious, served hot and fresh. Then were tempted to a sweet. Thank you Josh. "We'll be back"!!!

Great selection, good food shopping experience!

Plenty of parking. It is a large store and busy but plenty of pay points which make shopping relatively quick and easy. A good range of products including plants, homeware and clothing in addition to groceries.

Everything from a super store you need

Large store. Great range of products brands and cheaper own brand. Large clothing area. Pizza bar. Fresh bread. Their own brand products are decent quality too. Good for a family shop especially for those on a budget.

Not a bad supermarket, petrol is cheap. The road system is set out odd, from the fuel station, u have to drive through the car park to get out.

Always love a trip to Sainsbury's unfortunately I didn't have time to look and enjoy the clothes section. I was disappointed by the fresh meat section no pork loins or anything similar just beef steaks or chicken

Typical Sainsbury's store but NO electric car charging points, come on Sainsbury's you need to move with the times as some of you there stores have like my local one in Plymouth with 8, still not enough, 150kw chargers

Good coffee in cafe. Shame it is closing next year. Good TU clothing in store and good food especially bread.

One of the better Sainsbury's, been there for a number of years. Dependable and quite spacious.

The wife likes to shop here occasionally. We normally go to Tesco callington or Launceston. I hate supermarkets but sainsburys at marsh mills was ok as I could sit in the cafe and have a coffee and cake. Last time I used the wifi to watch the masters snooker, Shaun Murphy's 147 break. Sadly sainsburys are closing their cafe's. So we won't be coming back unless Costa take over like in the Launceston Tesco's.

Good supermarket. Terrible toilets. They have now introduced a self service checkout area with one set of tills but queues at both ends, causing customers to argue over who's next. Also when I've been there it's unstaffed meaning when your till goes wrong or you need approval you are left waiting. It's really weird.

I love Sainsburys. My absolute favourite superstore. It has changed a little over time as has the others. The music is a little too loud now and the trolleys are falling to bits but it’s still my favourite place to shop.

Clean, really good range of products, happy staff, on the expensive side of supermarkets but a well run superstore. Plenty of fresh fruit and veg.

Excellent found everything I needed without any problems

It was extremely busy but so well organised, the shelves were all full, fridge's and freezers were all stocked up. The queue was excellent the way it was done, everyone had to queue in a line by the freezers, there we're 3 members of staff letting you know where the next till was free, it moved quickly and a member of staff was there handing out chocolates xx So well done Sainsbury's well organised.

Plenty of disabled parking spaces and easy accessible .but then trying to find healthy food .WITHOUT SUGAR. Nearly impossible. Eventually I found some ready to eat salmon which didn't have sugar .then I looked to eat chicken. Not a problem until you want just chicken without ANY SUGAR added well wish you luck

Sugary junk food, very little vegan or healthy. The manager & senior manager could not find anything healthy and vegan for me to eat. A disgrace!

Large Sainsbury’s with plenty of choice

Beware of the packaged meat. It looks good when you look at the packet but when you open it the underside is all sinew and gristle. I had to throw more than half away.

Great store with integrated Argos, one of the better places in Plymouth to go for range of products.

Staff are very helpful and friendly

Excellent shopping centre, with great choice of quality food and drinks, very helpful friendly staff.

Staff friendly and shop well stocked, visiting on a Sunday early December when Christmas was being shopped as its put u p tree week. Prices fair and store was clean, Shopped at Argos also Went to Sainsbury's cafe on way out and had a Christmas roll bit they had run out of stuffing balls so gave an extra sausage and all was happy, member of staff serving on till was very busy but was so nice and chatty and friendly, he seemed to know his stuff very well and the service he gave was very natural. All in all a good visit

Advertise opening at 7am. It's 07.05am and they are still closed . Suggest buy a watch that's tells the correct time. Also why are the gates still closed thus preventing access to marsh mill roundabouts. Can only leave by the embankment route.

Shop always looks fantastic in the mornings shelves always full what ever time of day .staff amazing always willing to help

It's a supermarket?? It's kept well stocked, although I was looking for swimsuits at the end of August so unsurprisingly there wasn't much choice. Apart from that it's great, right next to the A38 and has a petrol station which has good fuel prices.

Good to see they have the excellent EV chargers at this store, always enjoyed the Cafe here too

Parking: 2 hours free, so no need to worry about validating your parking. Product variety: found it to be really good, and comparatively better than Plymouth (where I come from) Overall found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

Not too busy at 1400 on Monday. Lots of stock on display which is great. Nearly everything I wanted was in stock.

They now allow beggars to abuse you outside the front door. Filthy.

Not great for disabled users people are rude not staff my wife gets barged knocked meant over and she feels invisible in the store we use it cause it’s the best choice around but it’s the same everywhere

Easy to get into, Plenty of parking ..shelves were empty but had a lovely clothing section couldn't leave the store easy because the barriers were shut..so have to drive all the way up in the opposite direction and turn around..waste of a trip for a stale tasting item from fresh bakery...(certainly didn't taste too fresh)

Cheaper than Tesco now. And the fresh products are better quality, and last longer.

On the plus side the staff are friendly and helpful and the prices are reasonable but you get what you pay for. Cheap cafe food. Nothing looked home made. It all looks like it has been taken out of a packet and plonked on a plate. Nothing was particularly appetising

We arrived shortly after 8am and decided to have breakfast before shopping. The staff were welcoming, attentive and courteous. I ordered the Big Breakfast and a latte my wife had a danish with a double espresso, the food arrived a short time later. The eggs were done to perfection the bacon and sausages were of good quality and very tasty a lovely juicy mushroom with baked beans and hash browns with toast, I really enjoyed it ! The coffee was of a good quality. I really like the atmosphere. We will definitely return and we also highly recommend

It's good as far as supermarkets go. What more can you say it's Sainsbury's .

A novel shopping experience. Wide aisles, well signed and goods a plenty. Good service. Friendly staff.

Sainsbury needs to balance number of checkouts with what shoppers want!! We'd like more people serving the checkouts!! Serving people who spend a lot of MONEY..

Everything was fine there and we can find everything that we need!

It's a supermarket, it sells produce. There is quite a lot of non-food items at this branch making it a little more like a department store. The fresh fruit selection was rather disappointing when I visited and the oranges were anything but juicy despite this being the selling point. I guess it is convenient for some but there are other supermarkets in Plymouth.

I like the products, good value,variety and choices . Large range of Halloween stuff at the moment and Xmas already catered for!! Layout entering and leaving the car park can be a little confusing if you aren't local and don't know which road you need . Toilets clean, cafe available. HATE self service tills and in my opinion,too many are of that type.

I usually enjoy shopping at Saintsbury but so often I go there and there are no small trolleys available. I then end up with a baskets, so they lose out as I then buy less. Loads of larger trolleys that aren't used, that tells you something.

Strange layout means that shoppers are going endlessly backwards and forwards. Well stocked, good produce, bad layout

Ideal stop for breakfast or lunch if you're on the way to the ferry port,also use the toilets.

Huge store, so busy on a sunday

Big, light, airy and a great selection of "stuff" that you need or even don't really need. In house Argos and shelves of Habitat goods. The only big supermarket in the area that stocked fresh curry leaves... major plus point.

I hate having to walk around a pretty much empty store to look for my only basket. Staff standing around chatting but not putting collecting them and putting them by the entrance. Loads of items not on shelves. Asking the staff to remove the tags off an item at the check outs only to be told. I'll do it when your payment is authorised (I was just hitting pay by card). Then for him to walk off and me have to wait ages for another member of staff to wake up

Worst Sainsbury breakfast I ever tested at mash mills Plymouth. Dry hash brown. Look at the becon. Is this really worth £5? I don’t think so.

Seems to have problem with steak pie in restaurant as on last three occasions have had none left at lunchtime (13:00hrs)

It's Sainsbury's, always dearer than everyone else

Very large sainsbury's, very clean. Good was good in cafe.

My local shop. Plenty of parking spaces and great produce.

Love to shop at Sainsbury's always feel comfortable. Fruit and veg display always well stocked. Bakery head straight for the cakes.

Massive stock good produce (except the vacuum packed mince but that's a personal gripe) also has an argos inside

I shop at all of the major supermarkets, from Aldi to Waitrose. Of the bunch, this store is the 'best' shopping experience. Shopping Isles that are wider than most, combined with staff whose priority isn't to focus on emptying their cages. Price and food quality, tick. Even though built in 1986, Sainsbury's Marsh Mills is still a timeless classic icon.

Very grotty building in need of refurbishment. Very uneven floors made it very difficult steering very old trolley around. Shall not rush back

It's like a Sainsbury's, but where all the customer service went to die. God forbid you get a trolley check; welcome to 10 mins waiting while the staff chat instead. Wonderful. Rest of it is fine.

The ‘so called’ SMART SHOP continues to deteriorate in availability and waiting times, but worst of all the toilets were ‘unbelievably smelly’ today!

Shopping in this store for ever Brilliant

We had a great well cooked fryup. The Staff were brilliant, very friendly. The downside was the Gents toilets, clean but the stench like dead fish was overwhelming. It's a shame as everything else about the store is brilliant.

Despite my previous comments about great electric charging, (below), I'm not going to do any more big shops at Sainsbury's as the till queues are too long and the self checkout system is a ´pain in the rear' when you have a trolley load. I'll only go when I have a few items to get and the self checkout is less of a hassle. Previous review: Great to see Sainsbury's investing in 8 high speed 150kw chargers for ev's with simple contactless payment without any app required. I've switched to shopping here from Tesco because I can now charge up and shop at the same time. Just a shame that there isn't a beneficial price for Nectar card holders as that would seal the loyalty.

The staff are very helpful which is great when you are not very familiar with the store layout or how the systems work.

Increased by one star from last review. The reason is smart shop... Takes away the necessity, in most cases, of having to ask any staff any questions. Petrol station staff are still far too preoccupied with their own personal conversations to respectfully serve anyone who dares not to pay at the pump. Food prices are a bit better now and quality has improved somewhat. Best ring doughnuts. FACT. 2024 No change... Still happy.

Probably Sainsbury's I've ever been to. You see it as you approach Plymouth and it looks like a ferry port with its huge sail-like decorative top. On the inside it is much like every other big supermarket, it has everything you might need, is well laid out and has a bakery in the back. My one complaint is that the toilets often aren't very clean and cubicles in them are often shut down

Only popped in quickly for milk but a few empty shelves, staff were good and helpful

Self service checkouts now totally outnumbering tills where human interaction is required and is a much better experience. Very disappointing.

Excellent big shop. Great Cafe. The only thing that lets it down is the stench in the men's toilets. Went in there 6.00 this evening otherwise I would have scored it 5 stars! My wife wondered what the smell was in the foyer to the toilets.

Heavy chairs which are not easily movable. Wrong chairs for a cafe. They create an awful discordant sound when dragged along floor. Hardly relaxing!!!!

Tried out the hand held barcode reader today. It was a breeze, even for an over 60's who's had a Stroke and brain tumor!! Will be using it again when I am aloud to do the shopping. Only went for petrol because I had a double points voucher and the petrol is cheapest in my area of Plymouth. However, my wife did pop into the bank to purchase some Euros for the family. She had no problems, and the transaction was easy!!

Great quality fresh produce and variety of food in store. Staff are very polite and helpful too. Produce always fresh and well presented. Sainsburys taste the difference range is great value for money.

Too expensive compared to lidle and aldi

Big place to get almost all the neccessary things for the house and even few outdoors.

Good place to shop, got clothes area as well, close to premier inn so not far to go for shopping if staying at the premier inn, walk is about 5 min as you have to cross to Sainsbury's via a foot bridge or you can drive over to it.

It is like all good Sainsbury's, just a lot bigger. They had everything we needed whilst self catering near by.

Friendly staff as always and open till 10pm at your convenience.

We collected a click & collect order here while on holiday. The collection spot is under a gazebo, which was great as it was a hot sunny day. Staff were friendly. Despite being a busy time of day on a Saturday, there was lots of parking.

I like this store but time and time again they only have one checkout open with a huge que of customers waiting. Have informed the manager multiple times but never changes. Not every one wants to do self checkout. Please bring more human staff to these lines as you are letting the store down

Shirin served me on tills and would like to give her some recognition. She had brilliant customer service! I had lost my nectar card and was trying to quickly download the app in order to get my nectar prices. I almost gave up when Shirin offered me a new card which gave me around £8 discount on my shop. Was really nice of her to take time to sort this out for me, especially as they were so busy already that day. Thank you!

People complain about the young generation but I have to put a SHOUT OUT to a young lady called Amalee (apologies if the spellings wrong) I was shopping for clothes and couldnt find much in my size or anything I liked, this young lady went off trying to find my size and items I described, nothing was to much trouble, another shopper was having the same issue as me, Amalee was amazing, she also helped this lady find items of size and design. Thankyou and what an absolute asset this young lady is to Sainsbury's nothing was to much trouble, everything done with a smile and a positive can do attitude. Myself and the other lady will return thanks to you Amalee. What a change from if its not here we don't have it!
