Baked sea bass, little dry from the baking and probably more cream in the sauce than really needed.

I was very disappointed with my visit . I had taken family there and we were going to eat but found the place to be a bit grubby looking . There were flies when we entered and the floor by the toilets was dirty . And when we had drinks there was a slice of lime in one of them that was mouldy . The staff were very polite and had no issue with them . But after we left later when we were walking back to the car we saw a rat near the entrance . Again I appreciate it’s by the water etc but I do feel it overall didn’t make a great impression

Actually really shocked at this place. We were the only ones in there and we ordered drinks, I was half way through my Diet Coke and seen something white in my glass. The wedge of lime they put in my drink was so mouldy the rind was white and the segments were brown and mushy. Made me feel very queasy! Dread to think what their food is like. The place was also full of flies and entrance full of debris from the street

Lovely location that was a short walk away from some busier places, and a car park literally just next door with EV charging. Good selection of drinks and food and the Caesar salad was stunning. Lots of chicken and flavour and the limoncello spritz was great on a warm afternoon. Would definitely recommend and revisit!

If I could give less than one star, I would! We took my son back to uni today, and he reserved this place for his bday dinner. The waitress started to inform us what they don't have ( seebas, linguine , hummus, and pita) Must say this was the first time when we should lieve. We didn't, unfortunately. After they rushed a bit us to choose the drinks. My older son forgot to bring his ID ( by the way, he just turned 24). He wanted to order a Hobgobling but he couldn't due to this. We said, "Never mind I order for myself, and you can have it , it is your bday today. When he had a síp the waiter ( who I assume is the same age as my son or evan younger) rushed to our table, and he said he will take the drink because he saw my son drinking from the Hobgoblin. I told him he just turned 24, and we are celebrating his bday tonight. Also, I am his mom, so I can have a "parental control." He said no, he takes the drink despite my husband saying he will drink it also we will pay for it. The waiter said we don't have to pay and he can lose his licence so he took the drink. This was the second time when we should have lived in the place, but the food order was already made. So we have got our food, which was the most forgettable Cesar salad with dry tasteless chicken breast cheap bread cubes and some grated cheese ( not parmesan) and a plate full of lettuce for £13 . My husband ordered the Bulbois. He thinks this was the British version as it was way too much tomato instead of franch mustard. Also, we had two burgers, basic stuff with chips. The waiter who took our drink never came back to ask about the food. They sent a different waitress, although she didn't wait a second for our answer when she asked how is the food. After this, no one came to the table to ask if we wanted dessert or more drinks. This was the worst bday dinner ever . When we left, I burst in tears. How could people be so insensitive and rude? Avoid this place, especially in your bday celebration, and don't forget all your ID , passport etc if you want to eat a mediocre over pricesed lettuce.

Very disappointed! Felt like a cafe rather than a restaurant. Wine just plonked on the table unopened, for us to do ourselves. My husband had mussels which were nice but my food was not up to standard, over cooked chips, hunters chicken was a flattened out piece of chicken grilled until dry, then a piece of bacon put on top with a slither of sauce then a lump of cheese melted so much it was like rubber. The whole thing was dry and tasteless. I told the waitress she apologised and brought a glass of Prosecco and said this is a sorry as it’s your birthday! Unbelievable if that’s an apology for a bad meal! I won’t be recommending this place to anyone

Nothing ‘special’ about tasteless and tepid food… We came here for dinner and quickly found a table as it was half empty. We ordered drinks and when they arrived we ordered a main pasta dish from the daily specials menu and fish & chips. 30 minutes passed and we asked a staff member where our food was as people who had ordered well after us already had their food. Returning from the kitchen, she told us our food was “just being plated up”. Ten minutes later we received our food but had to wait for cutlery while our food cooled in front of us. The fish & chips were good but my pasta dish was barely warm, the pasta overcooked and the chorizo not cooked at all. Too much cream made it oily and overpowered the crab, the spinach barely present, no hint of any wine and it was not seasoned. It was awful. At no time did anyone ask us if our meals were ok, and when we decided to leave there were no servers to be found. Disappointing.

Well table booked for 7pm we all arrive just 5 minutes before a few at 7 , we had table for 20 adults and kids. One other large table with people were there before us and a couple of smaller tables with people, waiters brought menus and specials over and advised what was not available sold out, so that was fine. Came back not long after to get drinks orders which was fine. However food orders, 4 people had starters took over a hour to come, they didn't ask if we wanted mains and starter to come up same time and didn't ask if kids meal wanted to come with starts by 8:30pm kids getting tired hungry which hour and half is a long time to get honest. Ask how much longer they said she bee soon by 8:45 /8:50 mains started to home up, however two kids chicken nuggets still not ready 15 minutes more then nuggets came up. To be honest very disappointed we were not offered and discount or drinks , untill I ask would they consider a free drink for us, due to the time frame waiting for food which really was actually total 2 hours. The waiter went and asked manager and we got free, drink they could have offered the drink yo us without me asking or money off bill due to timeframe. Shame as it was for joint bday night venue , staff friendly but unable to cope with large groups. Hopefully service will improve for next visit but bring small groups instead.

We used to eat at this venue all the time and loved to be able to sit outside in the evenings with the family even when the weather wasn’t great as there were heaters outside and side panels if needed. Now they have gone and whilst the outdoor area is still great in the sun for us it’s lost its appeal when the weather isn’t so great. We find the acoustics inside mean it is too noisy to chat easily. Sadly we have had to find other places to go of an evening on the Barbican.

Having always loved this place we recently had a poor experience here. So I am sorry to say I have deleted my previous positive review. We saw part of our order sitting on the pass for a longtime and consequently one of our meals was not hot. The waitress did offer to replace this but we declined as it would have meant one of our group watching us eat and then having to eat after the rest of us had finished which was not a satisfactory solution. At this point the staff just left us to eat, no offer of drinks/extra food was made. Whilst the fish & chips were good the bouillabaisse was very disappointing (just lacking flavour & tasting more like fish in a tin of tomatoes). Such a shame as this has been one of our go to places to visit with friends from out of town. If you are thinking of going the deck is lovely and the breakfast has previously always been good but after this visit I really don’t think I can’t risk taking friends.

I’m not from Plymouth but visited to see my girlfriend’s family and we came here for a family meal. Everything about this place leads me to believe that they are very much trading purely off of their location. As an example, an old fashioned is £8 but a Hugo spritz is £11.. I don’t think management understand what GP is. Food cost and sizing is also super laughable. I ordered the Angus burger for £16 and have had bigger (and better) at McDonald’s for a fraction of the price.. where as my girlfriend had the Thai curry for the same price and had a portion big enough to feed a family of 4. The business operation seems flawed or that the owners/management are incredibly inexperienced. Our waitress, whilst pleasant enough, also had very long false nails and whilst she was carrying our plates to the table, I saw her thumb nails touch multiple items of food which is frankly just a bit gross. It was incredibly expensive for mediocre and lack lustre food and the only reason I can pin this down to is its location. The owners seem incredibly green with little to no knowledge of how to successfully operate a hospitality business. Will not be returning

We dived into this restaurant last week and had a selection of sides to share. Positives are definitely the location and the food. We had chips, prawns and chicken and it was amazing and so hot! The staff were super friendly and helpful. Service was quite slow, considering it was empty when we went in. But then the rain started and the place filled up within minutes. Negatives are really only small things. The noise of the chairs scraping on the floor. Holy heck... put some rubber on the feet please, it was continuous scraping and banging and so loud! The turning up of the music until we were almost shouting across our table for two. Most people are in there to eat and drink and chat. Please don't think they also want excessivley loud music. Leave it as a nice hum in the background. In the end, someone turned it down anyway. Finally, a more regular check on the toilets is probably an idea. Toilets that are easily accessible by the public are going to run out of loo roll much quicker. As was my finding. I went in 2 before I found any. Yes I would go back.

We went here for a sunny Sunday morning breakfast and was horribly disappointed. Firstly trying to get to a table on the sun terrace, the floor was covered in trip hazzards and simply should be looked at by a H&S team. Trap doors with hinges and doors slightly open sticking up and lights that look like they have been there for ages with wires sticking out (Pictures added) that look like they have been set up as traps. Then the service (that looks more like a complete lack of training rather that the waiters fault). The waiters did not know where the table numbers were. That the food is sent out over a period of 20 mins and not all at one time. This included no butter for the toast or ANY condiments until all had been put on the table so nothing could be eaten until it was cold. Then there was no ketchup (oh BTW we were only the second customers in there this morning) which would not have been too bad if the food was not completely bland. Now the food. As I said, it was completely bland, no seasoning on anything. The bacon was all rock hard and over cooked, the hash brown was dripping in oil and the scrambled egg looked like it was an egg put in a pan, stirred once and then plonked on the plate with nothing added. Who you can give it this little treatment and make it bone dry I don’t know. £11 per breakfast, I think you have given up caring because people will just turn up for the sun terrace. Well not me. Really disappointed.

I arrived 10 minutes before 9am and walked through the litter, taped off cables and miscellaneous cluttering. I'd already changed my mind about risking breakfast before I had got halfway to the end of the decking, having also noted the state of all the tables and chairs. Not being dog friendly inside and not fit for a dog outside, we both walked away with our tail between our legs.

We finally found a sort of clean table in one area. No one came out to check we ok. I went into check if I had to order inside Restaurant inside not busy at all. Placed order food came with drinks Food was ok, no check if we enjoying food. It was not a relaxing environment at all As it looked like the debris from a busy Saturday night had not been cleaned up. I went to use the ladies toilet, one was filthy and other one was acceptable. When we walked through the bar to leave the restaurant the two servers still deep in conversation. No goodbye or anything. We felt we were more of an inconvenience to their working day. Surely rather than stand talking to each other they could have cleaned the outside tables, our plates and cups were still left on the table when we left. Took over an hour for the young inexperienced staff to take the food order, and nearly an hour for it to be served, the children were climbing the walls by then, and their meals came last, and had items missing. Limited desert options, which were not correct when served. The owner and his family tuned up after we had been there an hour, and food was served to his table very quickly... Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!

Pier Master's House is one of Plymouth's fascinating historic buildings! This building was once the home of the port administrator, and is a testament to its maritime importance. It is now used as a museum, where you can learn about Plymouth's maritime history and local maritime culture. The inside of the building recreates the life and work conditions of the time, and there are many interesting exhibits! There is also a beautiful garden surrounding the building, which is fun to take a leisurely stroll through. It's especially located along the coast, so you can enjoy the seascape while experiencing history! This is a highly recommended spot for those interested in Plymouth's maritime history and history buffs!

We were pleasantly surprised to be able to book a table on the eve of NYE but we got an early sitting which was fine as we'd been on the go since silly o'clock. After walking around the old harbour area (well worth a visit), we headed back to the Pier Master's House and noticing we were slight chilled and wet from a recent downpour, we were shown to a table close to the fire ..thanks. The food was lovely, plenty of it and steaming hot fish pie. We opted to share a cheese board for one person but this big board of cheese and biscuits came out. "This is a lot for one person." I enquired. "Oh did you ask for one person..?". "Yep". Minute or so later, the waiter returned "our mistake, please enjoy with our apologies". I think we only ate a quarter of the selection so we offered it to a family whose 4 young children had been so well behaved throughout the evening...hope they enjoyed it..? The price...doesn't matter, the food, drinks and staff were all excellent, thanks😊

I would thoroughly recommend The Piermasters House. My latest visit was last night the 16th of December when I ordered the Bouillabaisse which was an absolute delight, Half a dozen muscles and even more king prawns. The white fish was chunky, tender delicious the sauce divine and perfectly seasoned. Served with rustic bread washed down with a crisp dry white

Attend for brunch and made use of the outdoor seating, which overlooks the nearby marina. Staff were very friendly and served us in a timely manner. We ordered coffee along with brunch which tasted great. Definitely will return. Only issue we had was trying to book a table via the website which said they were fully booked at our preferred time when in fact when we arrived there was only one table in use, clearly may pay to phone to check if the booking system says they are full.

We decided to have an impromptu visit here tonight . On the specials menu was roast beef with all the trimmings!! What it didn’t tell you was that all the trimmings were frozen even down to the roast potatoes and no way were the yorkshires homemade. We were absolutely disgusted 😡 I asked the waitress if the potatoes were frozen she shrugged her shoulders and said she didn't know!! The meat was tough and hard to chew!! How can a trained chef Serve this out as a meal? Photo is what I left !!! Will definitely not be returning !

After our first choice The Fisherman's Arms was fully booked, this was the first restaurant we came across. Lovely location with a choice of tables inside or out we opted to sit inside. We were told to sit at one of 2 tables set for 2, one which was in front of heater and very warm and the other near the entrance with a draught. Subsequent couples came in and sat where they wanted as there were a number available and in better positions! We only had a main each and although my fish was pleasant enough the sauce accompanying it was very runny and the chips lukewarm. My partner's Plaice was overcooked and lacked much in the way of fish. On collecting our plates, we were asked if everything was ok with the food. Despite pointing out the above, the waitress simply shrugged off my comments with no acknowledgement/apology. Overall a less than pleasurable experience.

Went there for my daughter’s graduation had to send back her meal to be cooked properly.I had chicken Popeye which was awful no cream and garlic sauce it turned up as breaded chicken just dumped on top of new potatoes presentation was atrocious. I would only recommend this place to someone who I disliked immensely ,paid £118 for the privilege 😡

Last year we discovered the unattended converted horse box near Devonport Park but in January we found the established shop/cafe in Albert Road. Very friendly and good selection of food all home baked. We think round the back of this cafe.

It’s gone! I’ve been buying my kids stocking fillers from here for the last 10 years or so and was mortified to visit today to see that the stall no longer existed. It always had a fantastic selection, both new and some of our old favourites. Very sad to see it go but the owner told me last year, that it had been a struggle since Covid lockdowns. It obviously took its toll. Farewell, but don’t know where I’m going to get my stocking fillers now!? Edible bank notes, bars of nougat, bubble gum, giant laces, jaw breaker gob stoppers…….😭
