Toby Carvery in Birmingham

Oh dear! My partner and myself went for breakfast this morning (Sunday 16th). Booked for 10.40. When we arrived hungry were told there was no bacon... We struggled to find a table that had been cleared?! When we went to get our food folk were waiting for sausages. A lady said the ones that were there were barely warm. When a fe did arrive they were swimming in oil. The food looked very limited. No black pudding, the beans and tomatoes we in far too much sauce/juice hash browns soggy. One of the staff was stood there making paper serviettes look pretty whilst customers waited for food?! My partner who never complains said the coffee was stewed. No pepper on our table or lemon available for my drink. Our experience at best - WOEFUL! This was such a shock as I had breakfast there with a friend for the first time a few weeks before. It was fabulous (and I told the manager this and I raved about it to my partner and friend). I couldn't wait to return... However today, I was embarrassed..(egg on my face)! Carveries have also been very good indeed. Come on Toby. I will give you the benefit of the doubt this time. You clearly had a bad morning but someone could have gone to Tesco/wherever nearby to purchase bacon. Bottom line; You need to do soooo much better. There's nothing wrong with your customers hard earned cash. If this becomes a regular occurrence it won't be good for your reputation.

Ae sat with Molly a d she was fantastic we had a friendly service and molly was attentive The carver Emma was lovely she helped with our son who was being fussy and cooked some nuggets for him.

Had breakfast here this morning. I couldn't believe the audacity from the woman in purple with a white cardi on behind the bar this morning. Her attitude stinks. How she works in hospitality is beyond me. Zero people skills.

Food was good! Was expecting slightly more food as it was a help yourself, all you can eat breakfast. It's not table service at that time in the morning either which was confusing. But it was lovely. Both me and my family loved it there

Early sunday evening. Managed to grab a non waited table. Staff were helpful although it would have been betterl if they informed us of a choice of a waited or non waited table else we may have waited another 40 mins for a table to free up. Fine, drinks selection standard commercial brands. You go up to queue for food, had to wait probably 10 minutes to get served. Meat - turkey, pork, beef. All fine, nothing spectacular. Very small portions served on a standard plate. Roast potatoes- Those golden roasties with slightly browned edges? No, think more burnt outer and mush on the inside. Biggest disappointment of the meal. Yorkshire puddings - good size, good flavour and texture, though disappointing you only get 1 as standard. Stuffing - it was weird, slighty mushy, bland. Peas/carrots/greens - boiled veg, looked far gone, didn't try any. Surprised no roasted carrots, but looked lifeless and unappetising. Gravy - plenty of it, ok flavour, again nothing spectacular. Sauces - nice selection of apple, cranberry, mint etc... although running low at the time Overall, The staff were good, maybe overstretched, but the food, even for the price...very poor. Maybe the kitchen was having an off night, overstretched too so standards were slipping? But I dont want to return to find out and I won't risk going to any other Toby either.

Birthday meal with family. Food was very dry, inedible, lamb, beef were just scraps, turkey dried out, burnt roast potatoes and mash was stuck to spoon it was so dry A thoroughly disappointing afternoon

Had an absolutely cracking experience at Toby Carvery, all thanks to the delightful Molly! From the moment we walked in, her infectious smile and upbeat attitude made us feel like VIPs. She served up our roast dinners with the precision of a surgeon and the charm of a stand-up comedian—seriously, if Toby Carvery had a reality show, Molly would be the star. The food? Perfection. But Molly’s service? Next level. She had a way of making you feel like you were the only table in the restaurant, even though it was packed. And let's not forget, her ability to make sure the gravy boat was never empty was a true skill. In short, if you're ever at Toby Carvery, ask for Molly. Not only will you get an epic meal, but you'll leave with a smile on your face and a story to tell!

Only rated 2 stars for atmosphere as there was only a few people there when we got there, but got better as the afternoon went on. But the food was lovely with a good choice of meat and veg. We will be going again in the near future, when it's not the school holidays

Great , efficient service at a busy time , but Waitress Molly Fz was quick to ensure a well needed drink was on table once I'd collected food. The food is as always quality . Plenty of meats > pork , gammon , beef and Turkey to choose from together with a wide range of fresh green and root vegetables ... a great food experience after a long day at work .

Great service very friendly. The food was fantastic, it would be nice to have brocolli as an option and the gravey could have been hotter but the chef gave lots of meat to all of us which was great. Recommended for sure.

I'm amazed that this place is so busy! The food was abysmal, the service slow and a bit haphazard and, while we were waiting in the queue for food my son pointed out that the faces of the staff, while they were OK with the customers, they all looked as though they would prefer to be elsewhere! Me too folks, me too! I know that carvery food isn't the best but the vegetables were gross, overcooked (of course) and not that hot. Will I go again, I think not thanks.

I visited herr on a weekday (Wednesday) and was left with a rather average experience. I gave it three stars mainly because the food wasn’t as fresh or tasty as I’d hoped. It felt like the kitchen wasn’t putting in the extra effort to ensure quality, which really made the meal fall flat. Additionally, the service was lacking; the staff didn’t check in on us regularly, and we had to wait a long time for them to come over or even ask for anything. Overall, while the ambiance might be promising, the combination of subpar food and inattentive service made it a mediocre visit.

Lovely food, good service, only complaint was alarm siren right above our table and no warning it was going to be tested nearly had a heart attack 😳 apart from that all good 👍😋😍

Not sure why it’s such a high price on a Sunday TBH food is no better than any other day. Meat is cut very thin at times at this should not be the case at £15 a head . Rather have quality meat than fill up plate with potatoes ect

We had molly as our waiter. She made this lovely plate for my dad as it was his birthday. Was so stunning and we were more than happy with her and our food.

Had a very great experience, molly was brilliant and had fantastic customer service.

I have been to this carvery many times and not really had any complaints until today . Today was a Sunday and was really busy and the food was not up to standard. The meat had lots of fat on it , the stuffing was completely dried up and the parsnips tasted of fish . The cauliflower cheese was hard in places and mushy in others . And the Yorkshire puddings were cold . We booked for 6 people at 4.40pm , we had to queue, and had just finished our dinner when at 5.40pm we were asked if we could free up the table as it was needed . That we would be welcome to finish our drinks in the bar area . Considering we spent £100 , I was very disappointed by the whole experience and it was supposed to be a celebration for my daughter’s birthday.

Normally a decent meal. However, tonight was a disappointment. The food was cold and had to be reheated in a microwave and the beef was more fatty than anything else . On the upside , our waitress was lovely. The one at the Broadway. Walsall is much nicer to be honest so we won't be returning .

I quite enjoyed both the food and especially thr staff, the person whom served us was kind and caring. The only reason I didn't give a five star was the chairs being dirty (see the attached photos). Overall I would recommend it.

Dirty toilets, dirty gravy station and people waiting around asking for gravy when it does arrive still no cleaning of the station as more staff standing around talking and just walking past the station and dirty floor and food very dry don’t come here very often but when I do it not improved think it’s definitely my last time

After ordering from just Eats app and not being able to go to restaurant placed order when delivery came checked order and there was missing items rang restaurant up to put on hold then cut off to ring back up again be told to reorder missing items and get refund back from the just eats app which I found misleading as you have to pay for delivery twice then the restaurant said they would put extra in the order which they did Not happy spending over £84.68 waiting for £8.00 to be refunded leaving a bill to pay £76.68 For x4 Sunday dinners would have been cheaper if I went in the restaurant or restaurant got the order correct at the time of ordering remember to check orders as this has been a very expensive experience and incompetence of the kitchen staff I thought when ordering Sunday dinners you get a Yorkshire pudding with every dinner you order but they decided to only put two Yorkshire pudding in the bag not 4 which should of been very disappointing but thanks to Paige the manager for giving me the extras and the missing items back which could have been avoided.

Husband placed an order for my Birthday and the starter Bungle was missing. My Husband rang up explained the situation and was told by the female on the phone and she confirmed with her Manager said, that we would have to Cancel the Order and reorder. My Husband rang up again as this was not acceptable, why should we have to pay twice even though we are getting a refund which will take a couple of days, it’s beside the point. The Point is they received the order from Just Eat, so there shouldn’t have been a problem. Anyway my Husband cancelled the order spoken to the Manager on the Phone, she told my Husband to replace the order and she would look out for the order and put a gesture of Goodwill in. If all this was done in the first place and not having to ring back up again there wouldn’t be an issue. Customer Service is about getting it right the first time and correcting it, after all this my Husband notices two Yorkshire Pudding are missing. Won’t be ordering online again after spending over £70.00 for 4 Adult meals.

Exactly what you would expect from a carvery. A fair selection of veg/potatoes. At peak times the queues can get very long and you can sometimes be waiting for fresh food to come out or for tables to be cleared. Carpark fills up quickly in the afternoons and evenings - remember to register your car. Wheelchair access.

Since the closure of the Toby Carvery in Sutton Park this has become my closest choice for a cost effective carvery it's like what you would expect from a Toby I still prefer the Sutton Park one for quietness and nice views and sadly this one gets very hot in the summer

I was very disappointed this time with the carvery as the meal was only luke warm and the gravey was also luke warm, which made it even less appetising.

Visited today with the Grandchildren for the first time in several years and so glad we did! This is by far the best carvery within this area and we were impressed by the great welcome and service from the team, with a special mention for Sam & Jo! Thank you and we will be back!!
