Paul was lovely on the bar. Music was excellent, vibes were on point, lovely wine, love the old fashioned style pub decor

We love it here! Staff are always really nice (Paul is a fab barman) would recommend it for a quiet drink or food and drinks!

Our server Demi was great! Super lovely staff and service all round, and the food slapped! Loved the chicken burger and the pork belly, the app was super simple to use. Will deffo be recommending this place to others. Got my eyes on that rosemary garlic cheese thing next time.

Sitting contentedly in the Fighting Cocks after having a fantastic Sunday lunch. The lamb, beef and chicken sharing platter was absolutely top class,and once again, we've had a lunch of top quality produce that's superbly cooked, reasonably priced and served by smiling, friendly staff. Thanks for another top notch meal.

I doubt there's a more chilled out pub in Birmingham. This is a large old coaching house set in the middle of Moseley's cosmopolitan High street. Big, airy, large stained glass windows, nice open real fire with large tables, unobtrusive chilled music in the background and a cool chatty beer garden out back. I'm always astounded at how quiet the place is on a Saturday afternoon with just a few tables taken up but that makes it such a terrific place to come and unwind and enjoy unforced conversation with the people you love. I must mention the food - I've never been let down here and it's in my top 5 places to eat in all of Birmingham. Fresh ingredients cooked properly and consistently are the tune played here. The cod and chips always satisfies but the creamy and lightly spiced sausage and mash I recently had cooked by Chef Tarek was sensational. Highly recommended.

Great place and great staff. Often pop in for a pint of Peroni or 3! Food is excellent and the garden is great, even when it's a bit chilly the heaters do the job.

Ate near twice on my recent trip to Birmingham, lovely atmosphere, all the staff were friendly. The steak was one of the nicest I've had In ages was cooked perfectly just how I like it and lovely pint of cider, definitely will return on my next visit.

I visited for the first time on 27/07/24 with a group of friends and I really enjoyed all aspects of my visit. From the atmosphere, architecture, decor, the customer service (friendliness of the staff), etc. I will definitely be going back as this type of venue appeals to me and my senses! Thank you to the staff for making my experience a beautiful one!!!

had 2 pints & a packet of crisps £14.50 😆🫣 a tad pricey for what it is. always pretty busy but not a patch on the old fighting cocks pub before it became a so-called 'gastropub'

I went for Sunday lunch and was very disappointed!! The food was so overcooked! The potatoes where almost in edible as they where so hard and overcooked! The beef was grey the rest of the veg was ok. Such a shame as the reviews said it was a great place for a roast!

Fantastic roast at decent prices. Thyme roasted potatoes and cauliflower cheese were very tasty. Added bonus of a free pint for the Dad at the table due to it being Father's Day. Busy, but not rushed and staff were very friendly and helpful.

Shaun and all the wonderful staff Paul,Ben,Demi etc at the fighting cox are running a great pub it's such a shame that the area manager OZ has taken away the loyalty of the regular customers by stopping the reduction in prices at the weekend considering its the most expensive pub in moseley...very poor management..I for one will be taking my buisness elsewhere.

Recently improved wait times for food. That was what was holding it back before.

The venue itself is pleasant and the staff seemed friendly, however, given that this venue was rated as one of the better gastro pubs in Birmingham the food was not tremendous (had to send back my daughters rock-hard burger bun) and the service was slow (30 mins for a starter on a quiet Monday evening). Not the great experience I was hoping for to celebrate my birthday at a venue I hadn't visited before!

The pub is a great place for quality beer but alas waiting for the food was a long tedious affair,we ordered food at 3.00pm and it wasn't until 3.30pm that we enquired about the food and were informed the starters would be out soon,they arrived at 3.50 we were told that due to the wait the sweet would be free of charge due to the wait encountered.we asked if we could have a complimentary beer and two sweets the waitress stated that was no issue The main course arrived at 4.15 which was excellent,the sweet arrived a lot later and eventually,when the bill arrived the two sweets had been charged along with the complimentary drink,my wife had to explain that these had been offered as complimentary due to the wait endured by us,the sweet and drink were duly dropped from the bill but only due to my wife explaining our situation. The pub is excellent for quality ipa but is let down drastically by the service and waiting time of the food the waitress service seemed disingenuous it is a real shame as the food was good when it eventually arrived and if i was to drink there it is a great pub

Really good Birmingham pub, nice atmosphere (families in for Sunday lunch). The staff were fab and the food was excellent. Improvement points, maybe a bigger selection of deserts? We asked for more gravy but that wasn't a problem, you just got us more gravy. No, it was excellent - I will come back for sure.

Possibly the best fish and chips in Birmingham? Very fresh, excellent beer batter, great chips. Service can be a bit slow at times, but the beer's great and the staff friendly. And the spacious Arts and Crafts style interior is a comfortable, atmospheric place to hang out in

Friendly pub especially for dog lovers. We ordered lunch and beers, which were very slow to arrive. The food was delicious but the roast beef was just too small-3 morsels and it was gone. Its not particularly cheap either--my pint cost £6.70? 2 beers, one coffee and 3 lunches-main course only- was £69.00. The lounge looked very tired and in need of attention. There are much better places locally.

I popped into the fighting cocks the other night for a catch up with friends. Whilst there we were informed by their lovely staff that there was a new cocktail offer, 2 cocktails for £13. We couldn’t resist taking up the offer and ordered some of their lovely bar snacks whilst we were there.

I used to rate this as the best pub in Moseley but it has gone all corporate lost it's edge. It still does a very good range of beer. Getting back to how it was so another couple of stars. Happy to say that the Cocks has got it's mojo back. Have had several excellent meals. A welcome return.

We visit for the quiz most weeks, Demi is great and we can always rely on her to lift us up on a Monday! Atmosphere and decor is perfect very pub like but more of a modern feel. We do sometimes have food and it is always great, although quite expensive compared to other similar places. The roast dinner is highly recommended!

Visited here on a lunchtime which was extremely quiet. We ordered drinks and food. The menu was extensive and a good choice. My husband chose the seafood linguine and I chose the sausage and mash....the food arrived in a reasonable time. While my husband really enjoyed his food mine was not so good. The mash is advertised as clotted cream mash and the potatoes were crushed rather than mashed and no taste of clotted cream. It was just lumpy!! The sausages however were tasty. The fact this is a two star review is a combination of the food and the service. As mentioned it was quiet and not once were we asked how our food was....in fact the girl behind the bar seemed more interested one of the younger customers at the bar. We finished our food and left 20 minutes later....the plates had still not been collected. Will not be returning in the foreseeable future which a real shame.

We always attend the pub quiz. Demi was fantastic, as always, & it’s well worth a visit.

I hadn't been to this beautiful place in absolutely years, but it was like returning to somewhere that felt like a familiar pair of slippers. The gentleman who served us (Paul) is a total credit to this establishment. He's witty, funny, helpful, knowledgeable and efficient. I can't wait to return here. I Love this place all over again ❤️

Great burgers and such friendly service and a very welcoming place

I visited here a few days ago (I wanted to as I’m an aspiring writer and this very pub is referenced in a couple of my books) and was so impressed by the very cozy atmosphere, the food and how friendly the barman/landlord was. It’s in a lovely old building with a clock tower. Would recommend to anyone.

We booked for Sunday Lunch. We had the sharer platter. The food was amazing and plentiful. The service was great and we will definitely book again.

When our food finally arrived it was very nice however it took exactly an hour from ordering for it to get to our table. Our server, Poppy, did come back to us after half an hour to apologise for the wait. Apparently they had taken a large order although our table was next to the kitchen and we didn’t see what looked like any large orders being brought out. She did ask if we’d like a free coffee. Nice gesture but we didn’t want coffee before our lunch. After a further 25 minutes she came back, apologised again and said it be 5 minutes more and she was right. However a wait of an hour on a Sunday is just too long. We didn’t have time for dessert as the car park was for 2 hours and time was up. Having not been before we have no idea if this is the ‘norm’ or a one off however based on this experience we are unlikely to return.

Lovely little boozer that’s changed a lot over the years. Friendly bar staff, good variety of food and beers and there’s a screen for the sport for all sport fans who like the sporting activities.

This was a really great roast dinner, it would have been 5/5 if it hadn't gone cold so quickly serving it on those silly boards. The meat was cooked to perfection, Yorkshire pudding was excellent, veg was great. Roast new potatoes were nice but proper roasters would have really made it and if it hadn't gone cold so quickly! I would definitely recommend this, it's so hard to get a good Sunday roast & this was great! Just eat fast!

Meat part of meals ok but vegetables very disappointing. The green veg portions were small and the potatoes and root veg all over cooked

Ben was hosting the quiz and did an excellent job of keeping everyone engaged and laughing. We were amazed with the vegan options, we ordered a plant based burger and the this isn’t chicken burger special which even came with sweet potato fries. Beautiful pub.

Our server Ben was fantastic so attentive didn’t forget anything on our drinks or food order even when there was no apple sauce he popped to the shop brilliant !!

Booked for 4pm to have the Sunday lunch platter but when we arrived it was not available probably because we had a latish booking. Selected the beef dinner instead which was still lovely. Felt a little out of it as we were placed down the side out of view of everything and even the staff so had to ask for drinks and the bill. Food is great hats off to the chef 🧑‍🍳

We initially visited Tuesday evening but we would have been the only people eating in the restaurant area so left to find a bit more atmosphere. We returned Thursday evening when it was much better with an almost full restaurant area and music playing. The turkey pie and chicken and bacon burger were both very good as well was the beer which is the norm for this pub.

Because I've had a stroke, I asked if I could speak to the server Ben to one side, which he kindly did. The room was quite noisy and I struggle to speak and understand at times, which he really understood. Ben kindly brought our drinks and burgers (one cheese, one plant based) over, and both were delicious. Nice fries too. We stayed longer than we expected because the relaxed atmosphere, board games, Christmas decorations, log fire and Glühwein, but by then it was getting too much for me and sadly my condition meant we had to leave. Heartily recommend.

Me and my friend bring our babies here for lunch every Monday and cannot fault the service. The food is always great and Paul cannot do enough to accommodate us. It really is the highlight of our week!

My local pub Brilliant place to have a quiet drink in the week or have a good laugh and night out on the weekend. In the heart of moseley with a large beer garden that is heated. The food is absolutely beautiful, all homemade made and cooked with great choices for vegetarians and meat eaters. The vegan options are amazing aswell.

Lovely pub. Used to come here years ago when I lived in the area but the food I had last night (veggie sausage and mash) was so bad I had to cover it in salt and brown sauce to get any flavour! It took ages to come and was a busy night but I've had better microwave meals and it cost £14.50 so i very very disappointedm I was offered a free dessert but I should've asked for a partial refund as I feel ripped off

We enjoyed a great Festive lunch last year so decided to return this year and weren't disappointed. Again the service and food were faultless. The table was beautifully decorated. There was an open fire burning and Christmas songs playing. Two veggie eaters and two meat eaters loved the food and it really did feel like Christmas. See you next yearxxx

I have a specific set of needs. The owner and manager could not of been any more accommodating , kind and friendly. All without making me feel like a pest. The service was excellent. They kept us informed and the food was marvellous.

I went to the fighting cocks on sunday with my friend to enjoy a comforting Roast. It was delicious as per usual. We were seated upon arrival and our drinks orders were taken straight away. We didn’t have to wait long for our roasts which came out piping hot with all the yummy trimmings and the added extra of cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets. Fantastic Food and Stunning Service as always.
