Toby Carvery in Bath and North East Somerset

Popped in for breakfast as we were in the area visiting family. The morning staff and Manager were lovely and welcoming. The food was good, fresh and hot. Good value for money. Will definitely be visiting again.

Used the "too good to go" to collect several meals. Over a year later receive a letter demanding £310 in unpaid parking fees. No prior communication regarding this at all. No option to contest with the parking company as they just passed to debt collection agency.

Don't go it's worse than ever.Never been this bad.i will never go back. Every thing is over cooked or missing waste of money.

Each time I visits this restaurant it great food, staff are polite, easy parking, 10/10 the manager with glasses is very polite and friendly, the waitress was the same lovely, the chef's very good. All meat was cooked very well, only bit was the gravy was slightly too thick, and people made a mess near the add on condiments like apple sauce mustard etc. apart from that fantastic meal.

We find ourselves saying 'this is the best one yet every time we go!! Lovely meat, veg and roasties and huge Yorkshire puddings! The sundaes are second to none. Very friendly staff too.

We had carvery, adult & child. There wasn’t a great selection of veg, 1 of us like 2 of them & the other only liked 1 option. What veg was there was cooked perfectly! The meat just fell apart & was very tender & tasty. The child ate for £1 which was the main reason we came to you! If it was full price we wouldn’t have visited, only due to price not quality. Clean & tide restaurant & carvery area.

Well refurbished, bright and welcoming decor. Staff reasonably friendly. However, server in t-shirt, shorts and trainers - really? Food hot, reasonably-sized portions of meat. Wider selection of desserts than before refurb, so we appreciated that. £93 for five mains and drinks plus four desserts, so approx. £20 per head. Definitely good value for money.

Great value super staff. Was even reminded about entering car reg. was offered dessert so went for the chocolate fudge cake which was massive and definitely worth it

A warm friendly greeting from the staff, who also checked if we parked in the carpark to register our vehicle details on the consoles. The carvery was great and good value for money and has a variety of fresh hot food options including vegan . Shout out to Ryan our server and Steve the carver.

Been here many times before but today was the last. Breakfast: hardly any food out, so asked one of the staff twice before anyone came out from the kitchen. Ask for the potato and onion hash. The chef said it hadn't been prepared. Asked if there was any on it way out, to which he replied Yes tomorrow! Asked for eggs, he said he already just put some out (6) about 8 people queing! Asked for fresh black pudding as that out was dried out. Some came out, but you couldn't even cut it. Guess it was yesterday reheats. Asked for the breakfast gravy and was told NO, and he walked off! Hash browns were cold. Never encountered such a rude employee. Went to complian. Manageress couldn't care less, said she knew who we were talking about and would have a word with him. She didn't even apologise!! Won't be going back. Wasn't just us, plenty of customers complaining to the chef.

A lovely visit yesterday. Parking is easy, quickly seated in an area of my choice. The gentleman who carved my meat was very friendly and polite, and gave decent portions. Sadly no crackling during midweek and the gravy was on the thick side for me, but otherwise a good veggie selection. The beef dripping potatoes are crispy and delicious! The highlight of my visit was June. It's lovely to be served by someone who clearly really enjoys their job. June walks around with a smile permanently on her face, cleaning tables as soon as guests leave, and chatting to families and small children. I was able to pay quickly and easily, including using my 25% off voucher. I will visit again just for those potatoes and June's happy face!

The placed looked nice and clean. Parking was not a problem. Food below average. Service was ok. We were actually thrown out early and told to drink up as staff wanted to finish early. This was 45 minutes before closing time.

We won a Facebook competition (4 standard carvery’s, 4 ice creams and 4 refillable drinks) This was my first time coming to Toby Carvery Maes Knoll and it definitely won’t be my last! The food was amazing by far the best carvery I’ve had in a very long time! The gravy was amazing! Having mac n cheese was an extra special touch too 👌🏼 only thing missing was pork crackling, hopefully you’ll have some next time I visit! The kids loved the huge ice creams!

The waiting staff are lovely and friendly. The cooks/serving staff disappeared for a good few minutes leaving my husband and I - at different times - waiting to be served. The beef was lovely, very well cooked, very tender. The yorkshire puddings were large, very light and crispy. There was no lamb which would have been my first choice of meat and the turkey was very dry indeed. The two measly slices of beef and turkey I was given was disappointing. The carrots looked way over cooked and uninviting, the roast potatoes were ok'ish, the macaroni cheese was not at all cheesy. The gravy was very nice. I think the food being left under the very hot serving lighting and therefore not being turned occasionally would definitely not help. Such a shame as so much food was obviously going to be wasted.

Cant go wrong with a Carvery, supported by loads of tasty veg and swimming in the magic gravy. My 2 year old drinks the gravy like orange juice, she likes it that much!!! The breakfast is good value as well

Firstly, we were called up for our food and then we made to wait for 10 minutes whilst the server threw the old meat away. To add, one of us ordered a 'melt in the middle' and left it over the pass. When we got it, it was cold and there was no 'melt' in the middle. Secondly, the vegetables were dried out and cold at the same time, and could possibly be left over from Christmas. They tasted like cardboard. When we asked the meat server for some fresh vegetables, he turned to us and "that's not my department." One of us had to stay there for an extra 10 minutes and even had to ask the manager for the fresh vegetables after asking two other servers. Thirdly, when the waitress up to us and asked if the food was good we all said that it was either bad or terrible. When the server was sent back, on the managers behalf, she was apologetic and polite about everything, however the manager showed no interest in rectifying the situation. Although they didn't charge us for the dinner, we wouldn't eat there again even if they paid us. No one goes to a Toby Carvery expecting Michelin Star, but you would expect hot edible food.

We arrived just as the doors opened on Tuesday 6th February, for a lovely breakfast. Everything was cooked to perfection especially the potato hash.

Food was amazing, and the service was great. In all honesty, there is nothing to improve on, everything was perfect for a meal out with my father The pigs and blankets we had ordered were quick to be delivered, and they were perfect.

This was one of the best roasts I’d had in a long time. The king size plate is excellent value and the quality was really good! I loved the warm atmosphere and choice of sides. We will definitely be returning

Everything from start to finish was excellent. A nice welcome, a very pleasant relaxing atmosphere all of the staff did an excellent job, particularly our lovely server Natalia. The carvery was all very delicious and a great choice as always. I must say though that the ambience and general atmosphere has greatly improved, making it a much more pleasant experience now, to what it was a few years back.

When you read other reviews from previous diners , it shows how poor the management is , to address the common faults here . Unfriendly chef(s) , poor amounts of meat given , very poor vegetables, ( as if they have been there for hours ) & the worst ….. roast potatoes that are soggy ….. 2 trays of them & even the gravy just luke warm . One of the worst we’ve ever visited on our travels. After our party of 5 spending nearly £100 for the privilege of the above ……. save your money .

The food and service was as good as ever, however the final bill was a shock and was considerably higher than of late. This will defiantly make us think twice about booking again anytime soon.

As a regular here I can honestly say whilst the food is average…(you get what you pay for) overall this place provides a good experience, everyone has there bad days… and people generally only review if there’s something to complain about. I’ve been coming here for the best part of 20 years. The staff know me by name, the company who owns the pub regularly put on 50% off and more the staff are run off there feet with hundreds of people walking through the door, I’ve witness customers be rude, argumentative and quite frankly an embarrassment to themselves. The team work there socks off and generally are extremely pleasant and professional, despite many difficult people visiting. It’s mass produced food, far from Michelin star but absolutely worth the price, you couldn’t cook it for the price you pay. Will be back next weekend. Mr Simmons

Visited on a Monday evening and it was quite busy, but our server Logan got us seated quickly and nothing was too much trouble, she even fetched us ice from the bar as the ice machine was not working, the meat was excellent and a delicious array of vegetables too, Logan was very professional and polite a real pleasure.

I would be hard pressed to name a worse eating experience than the one my friend and I had yesterday at this Toby Carvery ! The absence of half the vegetables and fatty chunks of dried roast beef made this an uneapetising meal ! They were out of mashed potatoes, potato gratin, parsnips, cabbage cauliflower cheese ! The choice left was frozen peas, frozen green beans and carrots ! We couldn't eat the beef ! The man cutting it shared the end fatty prices between us which we couldn't eat ! Told and showed the manager who said " I will sort it !" Then disappeared ! We were given a full refund and have vowed NEVER to return !

We booked for a carvery and arrived a little early, we were showed to our table by lovely staff. We had time for a drink before the carvery began for the day. Then when open We queued, the meat server was also lovely, friendly and welcoming, gave us lovely amount of meat, and everything was beautifully fresh, there was lots of choices available all steaming hot and smelt divine. Our meals were absolutely gorgeous, as always! We will definitely be returning as often as possible. The prices were amazing as its cheaper in the week anyway but then found out they were running an offer, you could download the app and get 50% off mains which was brilliant! First time at a Toby Carvery and was skeptical due to some of the reviews, but we had a pleasant experience. We did book a table, however the place was quite empty but it seemed everyone got put in the same area so seemed we were all sat on top of each other which was disappointing and the music was very loud. Food generally all ok, good selection of vegetables and staff attentive, meat was nice but limited amounts. Yorkshires were lovely. I believe you should ensure you put your registration number on the screen at the entrance to avoid a parking ticket which a lot of people seem to have issues with.

Arrived at Toby carvery with 11 mates all out for a nice roast. Had a nice time with a nice roast. 2 weeks go by and I receive I fine through the post!! My first time at a Toby carvery and never would I of thought I’d need to put my ref in to park there. Maybe if it was in the city center but not where this is situated. Absolute joke! £100 all because I never saw a sight/ tablet that said I need to put my reg in. Literally in disbelief that euro car sharks can charge you for parking somewhere that you actually went for a meal! Avoid!

We went for a family carvery meal on 19th July. While l dished up my vegetables there was no spoon for the dish l wanted. No staff were there to ask. I used a spoon from another vegetable dish. A male staff member then appeared and had a go at me!! Saying it was contaminating it. I discovered he had the missing spoon and he had taken it away to dish up takeaway food. He was in the wrong for removing the spoon and disappearing with it not me. In the potato celeriac dish while dishing up l found a long hair within the food. This was actually in the vegetable dish at the carvery area so there is obviously not enough hygiene in this particular restaurant. All other Toby restaurants l have found to be excellent so this one must be an exception to the rule.

Probably the worst Toby I’ve been too, arrived at 9:30am and there was no food and the food that was stone cold my orange juice was warmer then the food.

Food was good. No member of staff told us we had to log our registration number, hence we got a £50 parking charge. The signs are not obvious and it uses anpr. Staff need to ensure all customers are made aware of car park charges

Was very busy during my visit due to special offer, but this didn't effect the service or food. All staff were very welcoming and helpful, the chef serving the meat was rushed off his feet but was still served with a smile, food was piping hot and delicious as always.

This place has the best manager in the world. We really wanted to tip him but wasn’t allowed. He made our experience 100 times better. Sadly didn’t get his name, will definitely be going back again soon. Give this man a free drink!
