TJ Cafe Bar in Calderdale

Over £20 to get a breakfast and latte delivered and to say I was shocked is an understatement...£6.50 for the worst breakfast I've ever had iny entire life🤢 sausage undercook and smelled and looked off, half of each bacon rasher was virtually raw ( god knows how they managed that and tomatoes that had that tainted smell like they were days old or not stored correctly..... avoid at all costs, top price for bottom dollar food, I expected more from a town centre establishment

Food was plentiful and delicious served by friendly staff

patoe was hard and tuna crunch was watery and there was a sprinkle off cheese not good at all

Ordered here a few times and never had a problem however, today we ordered a BEST but the egg was rock hard & no tomato instead mushrooms? Wasn’t informed of the change, they have the number however chose not to inform us of the change to the sandwich. The mushrooms had soaked into the bread and was inedible considering my partner is allergic to them! The breakfast was terrible, stale bread & again the egg rock hard. Terrible.

Hot drink not sent again, food nice but not as good as usual

complete shittt overcooked everything , undercooked egg, missing items, iteams asked to not have splashed everywhere no answer from cafe to resolve

Wouldn’t even give it a one to be honest but would not recommend at all I felt ill and robbed to be honest 3.95 for Aldi frozen sausages that wasn’t cooked eggs raw no no. Sorry

Had a lovely cheese and onion toastie. was abit disappointed that they don't hardly have a vegetarian option even if quorn was added would of been more better options.

don't know where to start, think this is the worst breakfast I've ever seen, took well over an hour to be delivered, to start with, clap cold, it look like somebody had been swinging the bag around, all the food was at the back of the box, on inspection the bacon was rock hard the sausages, full of fat, I've never in my days seen anything so bad, the whole lot went in the bin. I will never order from here again. abysmal.

Great food as always. Treated my mom as she's never tried your food. She loved every bite and is looking forward to her pudding

If you like a huge range of classic old school lunch options, chips, t-cake sandwiches, paninis, simple burgers, Full English, jacket potato, yummy classic cakes this it THE BEST cafe in Huddersfield and Halifax centres. In my opinion but I like things that are easy going and not the rage so.... It's not fancy but it's got good prices, good portions and a bit of typical British fodder- almost from days gone-bye. Sometimes you want something different, sometimes you want a bit of childhood nostalgia without being crammed in a greasy 4mx4m cafe or having to take it out in a paper bag from the bakery.

Nothing special. Simple food, cheap prices, so don't expect anything good. Toilets were dirty, plus they let the customers from the Bar across from them use the facilities. There are lots of better places to eat in town so look around first before sitting in this cold , lifeless restaurant

3 off us chose the breakfast. I hate leaving negative reviews, but on this occasion, I need to the sausages tasted very cheap. Bacon was undercooked beans tomatoes aren't hard to do, so they were fine, but the worst thing was the toast. WOW, it was rock hard like it had been sat for 4 days after being made. I mean, I have a big strong dog, and she would have struggled to chomp on the toast I don't think we will be going back, unfortunately, because I like to champion little cafes etc. Sorry guys

Was let down by breakfast. Spam was that thinly cut , might aswell not been included & we paid extra for it! Milkshake was best part of this order but we was missing a straw.

Portion sizes are very generous. Salad was fresh and flavorful. Delivery driver was late but the cafe thoughtfully compensated with a free chocolate bar. Very kind!

Affordable place in middle of town center to have breakfast. Staff is friendly and food is affordable, atmosphere is nice. Please do not they do not cater to any dietary restrictions and vegetarians options are limited, but I was able to enjoy a cheese and tomato panini with chips.

1st order here. Thought the price was steep until I saw the portion sizes. More than worth it and very tasty

Stumbled across this place whilst on a day out in Halifax. The service was very warm and friendly. Food is excellent and great value. The coffee was also good quality and hot. Would strongly recommend.

A good cafe with a full menu. Prices are very reasonable. Nothing too fancy.

Took an hour to come, Chicken doner wrap was dry and had no sauce (asked for it without chili sauce) chips were nice. banana milkshake tasted like it was made from fresh banana but had a really weird aftertaste. Wouldn't order again.

Spot on as usual, and the fact it's still as nice and fresh as it was when I worked here 18 years ago makes it all that little bit nicer :)

First time customer, was very tasty. Drinks and milkshake were nice too. Only issue was the salad was a tad warm as was on top of the warm food but other than that it was great, I'd order again

Saturday 13th May 2023 I visited this lovely cosy cafe I had a jacket potato meal and coffee the food was good, and the dining area on my visit was clean and well set out I would use this place again when in Sowerby Bridge

The worst place we've ever had the displeasure of eating in. We were going to go to Subway but instead opted for a local business to support a small business. Generally seems clean. We were advised to be seated and the tables were cramped and we were next to the cleaning buckets and toilet. Upstairs toilet was broken and seating upstairs freezing. We were on a tight time schedule so asked how long food woyld be. Polite waitress said 10 minutes. We waited 25 minutes and had to chase our food. Our food happened to 'just be ready'. We ordered a hot beef steak, Canadian steak and a sausage bacon sandwich. The steaks were processed meat slices from a low budget and low quality meat. The bacon was full of fat. The food was cold. We refused the Canadian steak and had to share the 'food' we could eat.the females of the cafe, particularly the young blonde waitress, were polite but the food is a complete catfish from the awful slop we received and thick lumpy gloopy gravy. We weren't charged for the food we rejected. I don't like to leave bad reviews or complain but it really was awful and a shame as smaller businesses could do with the support and unfortunately we wouldn't return even if we were paid to

Lovely sandwich, with real chicken not just that ready mixed stuff you get that is just sauce! Didnt do fill for atmosphere as it was a take out, seemed lovely and relaxed though, and will probably eat in next time I am there.

Well toast was cold sausages done in fryer like cardboard 1 bit of bacon horrible breakfast will not be going again

I used to love this cafe, great coffee and lovely food. Shame it's gone down hill gradually over the last couple of years. Standard Coffee very weak. Sparse sandwich filling, ordered a BCT and got a BLT, and bowl of chips were cold and squashed not very appetising at all. Paid just over £8. I'm not a complainer just won't go again or recommend.

I went in today with my friend and the service was very slow, they appeared to be short staffed, the staff could have been a lot more polite and cracked a smile. One girl in particular was miserable and spoke to me quite rudely. The owner/manager guy is also miserable, he always has been, even years ago. If you don’t want to work with the public, don’t work in the public industry serving the public. You don’t attract customers by being miserable and rude. Disappointed with the service we received today. We won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

Nicely place cafe. Staff are great as is the service. In these hard times when prices are stupid, this cafe manages (I know not how!) to keep it's prices at an attractive leval, except for weekends when they revert back.

Coffee isn't hot. The service was poor. We had drunk our coffee way befor our sandwiches came and had to buy another. Staff couldn't be bothered. Will not go there again

Wasn't too bad, coffee wasn't really that hot. Service was a bit slow. Staff got confused over our order. But an ample sized toasted Bacon and sausage sandwich. Prices were a bit high for what we ordered.

Atrocious service wrong food brought numerous times, still did not get some of items by time we left, food poor, sausages poor and fries fatty tasting.

Excellent full English for £3.50 (not on Saturdays) friendly and efficient table service, sit in, take away or sit out in the arcade with your dog.

Great staff, food and atmosphere. You can either sit inside or outside just take a seat and staff come to you with a smile 😃

Dined in with my two boys, the food was lovely. There was what I assume to be one of the owners children helping out, taking orders and delivering food Food is prepared fresh so don't expect immediate service of food, but this is reflected in the quality of what is served. We will be back again

Freezing cold cafe. Unpleasant sausages on the breakfast which fell apart as soon as a knife went near them. Staff quite polite but did not make up for the nasty food.

We sat in and it was uncomfortably cold we discussed leaving but thought we would give it a go.. ordered two breakfasts and the sausages were raw.

Super cafe in the old market area of Halifax town. I got a lovely breakfast for £3 and a large cappuccino. You can order wine or beer with your food. It's popular with the locals and the staff are friendly.

Stay away!! Me and my friend have been seriously poorly after having breakfast here!! We both started with it at the same time and the only thing we have eaten together was from this place! Not good and the place smelt extremely damp !!

Very enjoyable meal, reasonably priced, good service

Terrible service. Took 4 attempts to get order right. Then food arrived and one main meal missing. By the time the missing meal had arrived everyone else had finished.

I wasn't impressed with the waitress who was quite a misery, I expect good customer service, it counts for a lot. There were five that ordered food and I just got a black coffee as they didn't even have any soya milk. I won't be going back.

Lovely little cafe that I often visit with kids in tow. A bit of a Mediterranean type menu which suits my family perfectly. All the food seems to be freshly prepared and all seems clean. Staff are well mannered and friendly. Can't ask for more.

I could not believe the disgusting and outright rude reception i recieved from the cook. I was vacating in Halifax and fancied a full English breakfast. As soon as i walked in he was very sharp, he asked me what i wanted and to just sit down and dont speak to him. This cook will definitely be the demise of this cafe if they do not fire him. Absolutely disgraceful

Went in on a Sunday afternoon, waited a good 10 mins before staff came over to take our order. Member of staff explained that they were short staffed, which I get sometimes happens. So common sense would suggest to limit the menu but who ever was in charge didn't have an common sense. We waited nearly 50 mins for sandwiches all which we asked for with chips. When they did arrive we received no chips. No sorry I missed them from your order or anything from staff. 2 customers walked out without even ordering and other customers kept having to remind staff that things were missing e.g milk for coffee and glass for pop. Sorry but I will not be going back.

2*Lasagne, chips, glass of house wine, (Best veggie lasagna I've eaten in 20 years too), meaty lasagna "fantastic" my omnivore friend claimed, still cheaper than a cr*ppy burger meal from "the king", I love trying new places when out and about but Sorry Halifax, these people will have my business every visit now!!! Thankfully we had cash, as it's a cash only place!!! Beautiful!!!

Worst place ever! owner treats the staff with little to no respect, one day working here and he underpaid me! disgusting! when i approached him about the pay he said it was minimum wage and it wasn't,, standard of food in general is disgusting. me and my family will never go to this place. disgusted by the way i was treated

Not the best. 2 out of 4 of us got the wrong order but it was busy so we accepted it rather than have to wait again. Also, be warned they don't accept card payments, but we never saw this displayed anywhere until we told by the girl on the till. Luckily we had enough cash on us!

Clean cafe with friendly and helpful staff, only had time for a drink today teapot of tea provided 2 1/2 cups of refreshing tea. Food being served looked fresh and diners seemed to be enjoying.

They advertise offers on the window but prices inside are a lot higher false advertisement! Food isn’t up to standards even at a higher price presentation is awful you’d think they were on salad rations! Won’t be going ever again!!!!!

I notice advertising board bacon with hot drink went in assistant ask what i wanted i said the bacon with hot drink speacial it was not until i went to pay for it i was charged £4.00 I said it was £2.50 on the board out side she said thats to go not eat in I had not seen this the words were so small so for two rasher of streaky bacon and nearly cold coffee £4 well not go there again i would give it no stars

Nice food and reasonably priced. Problem is the staff deciding to clear your table while other members of your party are still eating. Then they had a little boy sweeping up around you again... whilst still eating.

Me and a family member both had same food poisoning symptoms after eating here!

Come here 2- 3 times a week. Lovely place very clean. The staff are very friendly and it's reasonably priced. Kids are very welcome. Overall a great place for a cuppa and nice food
