Had breakfast there recently with my family. The place is nice and clean and everyone is friendly enough. We all had full breakfasts, which were OK. It's not massively brilliant, but OK. A few suggestions I would make (these aren't huge problems, just my opinion for what it's worth) - more than one food menu per table would be better. I know I can ask for more, but it's a small observation. - serviettes on every table (there were some on some, but not on ours) - I really think the food portions could be bigger, but I totally understand everyone is squeezed at the moment. The food was cooked reasonably well, and there was nothing massively wrong with it, but it just didn't set the world on fire for me. We spent £55 on four breakfasts and 4 drinks for anyone's info. All in all, I would possibly go back. But if I had family visiting from abroad that wanted to eat breakfast in the highstreet, it wouldn't be my first choice currently. Good luck to them though, nice people.

Went there today with a friend for afternoon tea priced at £19.50 pp. Whole place looked dark & scruffy and in dire need of deep cleaning. Kitchen area cluttered and untidy with open dustbin. Floor looked unclean. People serving also looked scruffy with only the lady wearing a protective apron. A glance at the J cloth and tea towel being used was enough to set alarm bells ringing reference hygiene. A visit downstairs to the toilet was an experience I would not like to repeat as, once again, pretty grim. The afternoon tea was very nice with cakes, scones with cream & jam, sandwiches and pots of tea although I was, by then, worried about who was preparing it and where it was being prepared. It didn't feel like a Tea Room, more like a cafe. It's a shame as the food was good but, we won't be going again.

Took my family out to a day trip to Rochester. Whilst we had a lot of great options around we thought the name and history of the place we thought it would be good idea to dine. I’d like to point out that we were the second last customer before closing on a weekend. We ordered a variety of food for the family, one of them a simple Tuna and Sweetcorn Sandwich, but we received a a sandwich with just Tuna and no sweetcorn, no problem, simple mistake. When I pointed it out, the waitress said they ran out of Sweetcorn, a slight frustration as if we were told earlier then we would have ordered something else. We also ordered a plain scone and received a fruit, again, nothing was done. Food was good but a bit dissatisfied with the service, but hoping the business takes it as feedback rather than a criticism.

I was going to leave a 5 star review as the food is delicious and the decor is so cute, it’s one of my favourite cafes, however when I was here yesterday a staff member (the owner maybe?) suddenly started having a go at a girl as she was leaving telling her to not shout at the staff, I would just like to say I was sat near her and never once heard her raise her voice but I sure did hear the staff raise his voice. It was also a coincidence he did it just as she was leaving, I’m all for sticking up for yourself and your staff members but why wait till she’s half out the door to say something to her so loudly for everyone to hear? I brushed it off thinking it was a bit harsh but not my problem, now like I said at the start I was going to leave 5 stars but decided to have a look at the reviews and noticed not only did that girl leave her own comment but someone else has mentioned something similar about the boss having a go at people when they have any criticism. Also any low review seems to get a very passive aggressive reply. I find this so strange. This cafe is clearly thriving so why reply so passive aggressively to people? I think whoever does the replies maybe needs to just ego check themselves a little bit. It makes me wonder if I came her again and had any sort of issue would they then start on me? It’s a lovely cafe so I will come back however that will be in the back of my mind and I hope I don’t have to deal with it.

We went here for breakfast, Or tried to. We ordered our breakfast and three hot drinks and waited for 45 minutes for the food, which didn’t turn up We appreciate that staff are busy but we had no communication at all. We spoke to them on two occasions. We were advised the first time that ‘we’re upstairs and they’re downstairs. We don’t know’. We asked for a refund, and as we left, the owner, then came out to have a go at us and told us to leave his premises because ’we are busy’. He stated that we shouted at his staff, which we did not, at any time. He then told us to get out of his premises. Rudest owner, I have Ever come across, I would never recommend this restaurant to anybody after the way we’ve just been treated. If our order had been forgotten, we would’ve understood but without communication, how are we to know? Really unnecessary reaction from the owner. You’d think an apology would be offered rather than rudeness. Response to the owner: We categorically did not verbally abuse your staff. We asked twice where our food was, no verbal abuse was used at all. Don’t you think other customers would’ve heard if we did? You didn’t apologise, not once. Nobody did. We had no communication from anybody until we enquired as to what was happening. It was me you shouted at as I left with my family. If you had spoken to me, or my family, directly and with politeness, we would have had a conversation with you but you went at me, quite rudely. Your staff were certainly busy, but nobody was rude to them.

We hired the downstairs for an afternoon tea hen party celebration. The staff are super friendly and helpful, they offered a wide selection of sandwich fillings. They catered for us all and it was all prepared fresh once everyone had arrived. There was too much food but we had 1 person who didn't arrive. They gave us boxes and foil to take home as didn't want to waste anything. Tiny Tim's is such a hidden gem in the heart of Rochester, highly recommended. Thank you

Last year I had my very first afternoon tea here on my birthday and absolutely loved it. After that, I had a few more afternoon teas, (one even at a very fancy and quite expensive place where my sister in law had her hen do) but Tiny Tim's has raised the stakes for afternoon tea extremely high for me. As I wouldn't shut up about this, my partner decided to give it a try too so we rang up last minute on his day off and turned up an hour later. The staff is absolutely lovely, the atmosphere was very relaxed. We did get some extra sandwiches with our order too which we really appreciated, it was such a lovely touch! The quality of their food definitely stands out. Every single item on the tiers is fricking delicious. Sandwiches are made with soft bread and are freshly prepared upon order, scones are served warm and the petit four are all to die for! I always get so excited trying them all 😁 I honestly don't understand the bad reviews on here but surely those people don't appreciate good quality food. For about £20 per person I think it's very fairly priced considering the cost that goes into ingredients and production. Being a home baker myself I know how much time and effort goes into preparation. Adding the cost of everything else that comes on top of it, you can barely make any profit without people starting to moan. So please, If you can't appreciate good food, stay away from Tiny Tim's. However I know I'll be back for sure! 😊

The title says it all really. I planned a surprise party for my parents here and had 18 people coming including 5 kids. From the initial booking right through to the end of the meal, the staff were helpful and friendly. We were given the whole of the downstairs, which was fantastic as it meant the kids wouldn't bother anyone. They also blocked off the bathroom for just us so that we wouldn't be disturbed by other guests (so thoughtful!). They even decorated with balloons and flowers; the flowers the owner had arranged himself just for us too and let us take home afterward! We had the high tea option, which was £13.95 a head and the amount of food was amazing! The cakes both looked gorgeous and tasted amazing, I had the gluten-free cakes and they were so good! The sandwiches were also great with a range of fillings (I even got to choose what I had in mine!) Unlimited tea and coffee kept everybody very happy and full too! They also let you bring your own alcohol and provide glasses, which was brilliant and this meant my mum could have her favourite bellini with her meal. This experience was one of the best meals out AND parties we've ever had, my mum was so surprised and said it was the best party and just how she would have wanted a party to be. We also were told they can do a sit-down hot meal with a roast too (with notice of course) so I don't think there's anything they can't do here! We absolutely recommend this place for a party and can't praise it highly enough. If you're looking for somewhere for your party, check out Tiny Tim's!

It’s a quiet place run by a lovely couple who couldn’t have been more polite, helpful and appreciative of people supporting their business.I can highly recommend the Artful Dodger breakfast for those with a big appetite and The Dickens for those who only like a little of everything. The portion sizes are generous and the quality of the food was exceptional. The chips are even better than chip shop chips! The tea was hot and The cappuccino wasn’t just froth. The service was fantastic, didn’t wait long to be seated or served our food.My partners quote, “That’s where you need to go if you have a quality hangover, it will sort you right out!” Great value for money, even with the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, We gave a £10 tip because we felt it was worth paying full price. They have followed the government guidelines very well and I cannot recommend enough. Had the all day breakfast. Wet cutlery put down on our table, no serviettes. Bacon very underdone for my liking (just about cooked), eggs and beans stone cold, toast horrible. Couldn't eat it. Witnessed the incident mentioned by 'valueseekerkent', where the server, an older, bald man, was extremely rude. Made a terrible atmosphere because he had a go at this poor customer for no reason, very loudly, so that the whole place could hear. His manner even with us was very odd, he seems completely unaware of his rudeness. When I went up to pay, this same man was clearing plates and had put the black dustbin lid up on the counter, on top of plates and cups. Place generally feels grubby. Level of hygiene and service appalling. I will never go back. There are cards on the tables asking for Tripadviser reviews, I hope management look at these reviews and take some action. I would if it was my business.

My girlfriend and I visited on Valentine's and were immediately met with warmth and exemplary customer service. A peaceful, homely atmosphere in the heart of historic Rochester was much appreciated on a cold February afternoon! Excellent vegan options for my partner and coffee brought to us as soon as we arrived.

What a charming place I had the pleasure to visit a couple of weekends a go with my partner. The staff were so accommodating and could not do enough for you. We both ordered the all day breakfast with different specifications and we were both very pleased when our plates arrived. Beautiful big portions and not greasy at all. We wish we had enough room to sample the beautiful cake on display in the cabinet (next time for sure we will try them). Thank you so very much and we will be back again soon.

After reading all the reviews I was expecting Tiny Tim’s to be an excellent cafe. However, as soon as we walked in the door I noticed the floor was filthy. I would have left immediately had we not arranged to meet someone there. We just had coffee as the cakes looked very sad sitting in the cabinet, they were certainly not homemade cakes. The toilet was dreadful with a roll of paper from which to tear a piece off to dry your hands. This was filthy from so many people touching it with wet, dirty hands. We didn’t stay to eat and found a lovely little cafe further up the road. I only chose Tiny Tim beacause of all the review said on this site. I cannot understand how a place can be so far off from its reviews! I did see some people served a cooked breakfast as the serving was huge, so maybe people are willing to overlook the cleanliness of a place for the sake of a big fry up! Very disappointed.

An amazing family outing for afternoon tea. Have seen other reviews on here about ‘weird sandwich fillings’ which is nonsense- you choose your own from a really wide range- traditional up to minted lamb! Very well priced great staff who got everything ready quickly. Cannot recommend highly enough

The breakfasts are amazing. Huge portions for a very good price!! Still waiting for the day when I manage to finish it!! My brain and mouth are saying “must eat all of the yummy food” where as my belly is saying “no more can fit!” The lovely staff always make my visit a huge pleasure and have never left there unhappy or disappointed. Would highly recommend Tiny Tim’s.

I recently booked Tiny Tim's for my friends baby shower and they could not have been more helpful. They let us hire the private room they have downstairs and had set it all up for when we arrived. They even helped get the guest of honour downstairs to help surprise her! The food was also great and great value for money. Couldnt have been happier - thanks Tiny Tims!! :-)

Having checked days before to confirm table booked for 2.pm a birthday celebration when we arrived at 2.pm notice on the door saying closed the place was full no table had been reserved for us we were offered downstairs to a horrible basement we refused to sit down there with bins of rubbish, when we did sit down upstairs we had pots of tea delivered to the table, we then waited and waited for our sandwiches etc after about 45 minutes they arrived.

We visited Tiny Tim’s today with our 2 dogs & baby. They were so accommodating even though they had full tables with a group of cyclists. We all ordered something different & the food was delicious. All beautifully cooked & nicely presented. Nothing was too much trouble. Every customer had the same warm welcome & it was a pleasure dining there. The lady was lovely to talk to & is a real asset to the establishment. Thankyou very much & we look forward to coming back!

My grandson took my husband and myself here on Saturday for afternoon tea. It was one of the best we have had . Sandwiches, we're fresh well filled and excellent. Cakes and scones did not disappoint either. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A very enjoyable experience

Such a shame on a return visit to Rochester so though I’d visit tiny Tims as I remember there lovely scones so took my family in there for lunch on Sunday, when I came in instantly regretted it. There was an awful smell of grease. Young Waitress was lovely but couldn’t help but notice the rather rude owner. He was very abrupt when I asked to use the toilet and said point blank no because the party downstairs paid for it to be out of order. Not overall happy would rather go somewhere else and get better service for less money. Left feeling very upset as not only had the owner been rude to me but another man over a cup of tea while my husband was trying to pay. Won’t be returning sorry but very awful experience.

Went for afternoon tea for my birthday yesterday, was awful, frozen cakes, broken cake stand, massive man size sandwiches with really weird fillings, the chicken and bacon mayo was gross, didn't have hardly any fillings, strawberries bruised and warm and clotted cream warm n runny such a shame.. Expensive and over rated for what it is.. And the toilets are all out of order as well.. Defo not afternoon tea material

I had visited this place a few years ago and remembered it being a lovely place to stop for a cream tea, so on a recent visit to Rochester I visited again. On entering, it wasn't immediately clear whether it was table service or whether I had to go to the counter, so we simply sat at a table that had yet to be cleared and hoped for the best. On observing other customers I could see one group were eating a fry-up, whilst the other group were eating an afternoon tea from tiered cake stand; the juxtaposition was very odd. A very pleasant young lady came over, cleared the table for us and took our order. We decided on a cream tea and some other light snacks af a sausage roll and tea cake, all came in good time and were perfectly acceptable, though not of the quality I would think is possible for the price charged. There were nice little touches of strawberries with the cream tea and crisps and light salad leaves with the sausage roll, but I would prefer a higher quality sausage roll and fresh clotted cream with the scone than the extras. The tea came in a nice pot with a china cup and saucer, which again felt strange whilst sitting at a veneered plywood table on old pub seats. What made it feel even stranger was that there was a television on the back wall tuned to sky tv blurting out a commercial radio channel - why?!. In my view, this place doesn't know if it wants to be a greasy spoon cafe or a sophisticated tea room, but I know that if I want either in future, I will go elsewhere. Rochester doesn't need another low-end cafe, but the tourists and locals would love an English tea room offering a selection of quality cakes, drinks and sandwiches. Drop the fry-ups from the menu, give the place a clean, whitewash the dated 'scrooge' decor, invest in new quality furniture, don't store junk and supplies near the entrance where we can all see it, either prevent the chef (owner?) from coming up to the seating area, or at least put him in whites so we're not wondering about the hygiene of the kitchen, and it would get plenty of custom a year round and nobody would begrudge the price. The location and staff are an asset, the other things are letting it down.

I took my mother and friend for a treat as seen the reviews and looked ok . Well when we walked in the door the entrance way and steps were rotten with dirt . That should have been the sign there and then to leave . We sat down and looked at the stained menu and I picked the vegan option only to be told got no vegan !!!! my friend the cheese ploughman’s that was advertised on the big board outside . My mother the cheese baguette . Well when it came up we thought we were in a different place as the pictures online showed there were crusty baguettes we were given as only I could describe as a long life sweet smelling hot dog roll!!!!! And my friends ploughman’s was the same roll no coleslaw and pickle like the pictures . So I went to the counter to ask if I could have pickle for the ploughman’s and was told if we had any we would have put it on your plate !!!!!!!

We only had coffee here and it was .... okay. It looked a bit tired and the coffee was good enough, but not worthy of anything better than “average”. We’d had breakfast at Quills that morning and that was much better. We didn’t have food so can’t comment on that. I think there are better places in Rochester.
