Tasteless, completely flattened toastie served by foh staff who are not suited to working in hospitality. Selected crisps to accompany my toastie which the staff member then tossed onto the counter behind him. Noted that crisps were a week out of date prior to opening them. I returned them ; they were thrown a few feet into an open bin, staff member tossed another ( different flavoured) packet on the counter with a ‘ There you go’. Not so much as an insincere ‘ Sorry about that’ from this pair. Staff clearly disinterested and focused on their own’banter’. Poor staff attitude, poor quality food, waste of money, won’t be back.

I have given my custom here for some time but I now feel that value for money has been substantially reduced with the recent price increases. The location and music is good negated somewhat by the price and quality of its coffee.

Have great personal memories in this venue and took family here for a visit. Terrible visit all round. Asked for a menu , someone behind the counter just pointed above them without a glance towards me. The menu itself was very disappointing so we didn't order anything apart from a flat white which was burnt. Shame

So actually although the 1 star review coffees were fine as were the wee sweet snacks and the two FOH staff were lovely and chatty. That said I was out shopping for my birthday with my wee old mum and we stopped mid way for a coffee break before heading home. As I said coffees and cake were grand and we had a nice chill before heading off. It was only when we were nearly home my mum started getting quite distressed as she realised she left her jacket somewhere (the jacket is sentimental of a time with my father in Berlin they spent together). I phoned up the places we had been but had only really stopped at tinderbox. When I phoned, I was met with hostility and utter laziness. “I’m sorry said Sonia, I can’t check as I’m in the office and have faaar to much paperwork to do. You will have to come and check yourself.” I did get to the branch and it was dead. Two managers and two FOH for a Monday and lo and behold Sonia had been granted mercy away from I can only assume the Clyde rivers worth of paperwork to “help” a customer. Now maybe I should not have said I wanted a word with her and beckoned her over with a “come here” motion but Sonia and their pure lack of customer service by this point had made me quite angry and my wee old mum upset. She also would not provide me with further details to make a formal complaint against them. I would deeply appreciate a nudge from an area manager as this person has the social skills of brick. Anyway Sonia, I hope you read this and learn manners. You work in hospitality and with your aversion to humans I’d say find yourself a new career. Maybe as a traffic warden, as being polite and helpful to customers is clearly not in your purview.

been to this branch often and usually good but late afternoon today (7/9/23) the service was awful. Having made my coffee in the cup, the Server wiped the cup with a cloth that did not look clean. She did change the cup when I insisted but did not apologise and was not pleased to do so. The cafe was quiet but many of the tables could have been cleaner too and so could the women's toilet - overall really poor and hopefully just a bad day.

Can't believe this, I went in for a coffee / juice with my wife and sons. After we got our drinks my son asked if he could have a toastie so I went over to the fridge and picked it up noticing the price was £4.05. I handed it to the girl and she scanned it and said £5.85 please, I said it is not £4.05 as it states on the label, she then looked at me like I was stupid and said well it's coming up as £5.85 on the till. I then asked her to check it again. She reluctantly asked her supervisor who said "Oh yeah that's the Charing Cross price." It's a bit misleading but that's the price do you want it?" I replied yes but at the price on the sandwich, at which point she asked me to stop doing that, implying that I was being aggressive. It turns out all the cheese and ham sandwiches were marked with the price £4.05. she then again asked me if I wanted it and out of sheer principal I said no and will never set foot in the place again. By the way we had already spent about £20. Through out this I was completely calm and the girl was not, she was trying to make out I was loosing my temper and that I was creating a problem, this was not the case. We left straight after this as we could hear all the staff talking about us!

I popped in here for some quick food and it was fine. Nice ice cream, pleasant cosy atmosphere, and lets you relax a little throughout perhaps a busy day if one is on the horizon. Being in town a little early for a meeting, I took the opportunity to grab a little lunch in this Tinderbox, as I used to visit their Ingram St branch regularly in the past. Being vegetarian, I picked up a cheese and tomato flatbread and ordered a flat white at the bar. When it arrived after being heated, I noticed that it contained ham, so took it back to the counter. I was told that it must've been my error as they only had ham in that day. Despite being sure that I'd read it correctly, I was prepared to accept it as my mistake, but nevertheless went and double-checked the rack I'd taken it from. There were others there also clearly marked cheese and tomato. Another server then admitted that she must have mislabelled some of them by mistake. There was nothing else in stock that met my dietary needs, so I immediately started to worry about where else I could go with the limited time I now had left. The staff were extremely unhelpful and at no point did I receive an apology nor was I offered a refund for what they admitted was their own mistake. Mislabelling food is obviously potentially very dangerous, but to dismiss it with a shrug, and to be happy to charge people for food they can't eat is breathtaking. I'm sure I could've embarrassed them into issuing a refund if I'd made a scene, but the onus shouldn't be on the customer to throw a tantrum in order for basic service to be provided.

Christmas shopping in Glasgow and built up both a hunger and a thirst. Tinderbox was the only eatery that wasn’t packed. This should have been a red flag. I entered the venue and looked at what was on offer and we both decided on a panini each with a bag of crisps plus a latte each. The young lady who served us made no eye contact what so ever. She did speak ‘I’ll heat those, what else do you want?” Cheerfully I asked for two large latte’s. “Anything else?” No thank you that’ll be all for now. She tapped in the amount without telling me how much I was about to pay and held it for me to tap my card. I asked how much it was and she just turned the screen for me to see. Then she threw a oblong disc on the table number 5 on it followed by “when your foods ready come and collect it”. Not a smile, not a please and not a tank you. I thought how miserable she looked and clearly unhappy to be at work or working. I thought oh well it’s just one person. The device with number 5 on it vibrated and I returned to collect our food. I went to the counter and this time a different female server. I tried a smile thinking a friendly face would hopefully raise a smile. Sadly, it was in vain and the response was “there’s your food” no thank you. Thankfully the coffee and the panini’s were great. Sad that the service didn’t match the quality of the food on this occasion. Perhaps an off day for the team but their customers shouldn’t need to suffer at their hands.

Very disappointed. Unhelpful manager. Having bought soup, toasties, cakes and a pot of tea, staff were afraid to give me a pot of hot water for the special tea bags I drink which the café did not have, because the manager did not approve. After arguing my case, I did get my hot water but the manager was clearly very reluctant to help. I have never encountered this difficulty in any other establishment.

We later learnt that this coffee house several outlets in various parts of the city. This particular outlet had both indoor and outdoor (under the canopy which is completely sheltered) seating. The indoor appears a bit dark and gloomy coming in from a bright sunshine lit through the glass dome of the roof outdoor seating. Each table had a QR code to register your presence to the Covid authorities. The coffee was nice blend of smoothness with taste with no bitterness. The custard tart reminded one of the Portuguese speciality.

Visited for the first time in a while whilst doing some Xmas shopping with friends and was shocked at the standard level. It was very busy yet two members of staff were putting together one order at a time, causing a large back log of orders and lengthy wait. Customers are now given a buzzer (a Covid nightmare surely?) and ordered to sit down whilst they wait, presumably so the staff can take their sweet time preparing orders without the pressure of customers witnessing their inefficiency and lack of urgency. There's a tall, greying, portly barista with an extreme attitude problem that wouldn't know customer service if it ran up and tweaked his nose and the tables were dirty. In fact, one of them was covered in a smattering of chips which is bizarre considering this place doesn't even sell chips. Oh, and the coffee was luke warm garbage water. Do yourself a favour and go else where.

I've been in Tinderbox Princes Square a few times. They do not take customer details. There is a small QR barcode available but members of staff do not ask customers to scan it and enter their details. Most times I have to ask! Now the staff are providing a "buzzer" that you have to take (so much for contactless!) go to your seat and wait for it to buzz when your coffee is ready. I questioned how a buzzer being handled fitted into Covid precautions and was told he had washed his hands. Also the one-way system is not used by staff. They really just pay lip service to Covid precautions.

Have been here a number of times over the last couple of weeks as a change to Tinderbox in Ingram Street and staff are great and pleasant. However, later in the afternoon you can feel rather unwelcome with chairs across the toilets, washing floors round about you and generally feeling in the way of closing up. If there is such a rush to be finsihed and appreciate staff costs but perhaps close half an hour earlier if this is an issue rather than making people inhale the smell of floor cleaner when drinking a coffee.Such an easy solution or wash the floors first thing when the centre is not busy.Back to Ingram Street

Opted to go here as we didn’t want a meal as such, but just a snack & a drink. Seemed to be a good choice of drinks (both hot and cold) , but rather surprised to see a selection of uncovered cakes up at the serving counter with nothing to protect them from customer’s coughs & sneezes. Had a tasty enough cheese and ham baguette/panini & a deliciously fresh & moist piece of carrot cake. However, there was a definite lack of clean tables, and we had to sit at a dirty one and push all the used crockery from a previous visit to the far side of the table. Nobody cleared it during our sit-down, and saw no signs of staff doing so around us. Admittedly it was a busy period , with a Xmas music concert taking place on the lower level - but even so .......!

By far the best readily available coffee in Glasgow. The vast majority of coffee in Britain, but especially outside of London is burnt and bitter beyond drinkability, I usually opt for a flat white, diluting the taste of the actual coffee, I rarely venture for an espresso as they’re almost always repulsive. I nearly fainted with pleasure today, when a beautiful little shot of espresso passed my lips, it was so so good, almost as good as the Italian service station coffee! Otherwise, all’s well here, sandwiches etc are fine but the coffee’s definitely the headliner, I can’t emphasise enough just how good it is, even if you go to a top restaurant in Glasgow you’re very unlikely to get a reasonable espresso, but here - wow!

Both our coffees were lukewarm and had to be taken back and remade. No apology for the poor coffee and no eye contact when returning to the counter for the second lot of coffees. The whole experience was completely underwhelming and very poor customer service. Why work in an area where you have to deal with the general public, when you cannot muster the energy to be friendly and welcoming? You may be closing in 35 mins....but hey, guess what, that means you are still open and still working for the next 35 minutes!

However, I was in a few days ago and got a soup and latte. I was exceedingly disappointed with the soup. In total it cost me just over £7 for the latte and soup, and considered taking the soup back it was so thick - I didn't though because it was busy and I feel awkward making complaints. It was as though it had been heat up and not even stirred before given to me. I left more than half of it drank my coffee and left. For the price they charged for the soup I should of had something of more quality. It is a shame that one bad experience can put you off, but from now on I'll be going elsewhere.

Good coffee in the city centre is hard to find, I previously started with Starbucks, (then I realised it's all gmo and chemicals) Pret (okay but always a bit weak), Laboratorio (too cool for syrups, coffee is too strong personally), never liked Costa and not a fan of Nero...but this is one place that is consistently good, and that is important, i'm sad when I'm not near this coffee place as I have to settle for something else, but definitely, favourite!

Used to visit tinderbox frequently, but not been for a while. So went today. It wasn't fully busy, but so many tables had cups from the last clients. I had to ask twice to have them cleared before I sat at my table. The assistant thought I was joking the first time I asked -arrogant little person he was. The price of coffee & cake is ridiculous in here now. Coffees are about 50p dearer each and traybakes about £1 more than most other independent coffee houses. The cakes I am sure are from the same bakerys- Don't taste any better. Coffee is now not made with any love. Care or attention.... And it shows. They are so many other independent coffee shops in Glasgow that far superior in service. Price and quality of service. Will I return -nope. Not until tinderbox up there game. It appears that other TripAdvisor members are now also agreeing with this.

stopped in here for a light bite. No prices on individual items which you have to continually try and match what is in the fridges to whats on the boards away above the counter. Staff appeared to be a bit rude/ dismissive/ disinterested. about £30 was very expensive for what was effectively a tea, a coffee and two toasted sandwiches a small slice of stale cake and a can of fizzy juice. Wont be back in a hurry!

Tinderbox is lovely. Coffee is good atmosphere is welcoming if try to be hipster too much around the edges. The sandwiches etc are a little on the expensive side but are consistently good and often more interesting than standard coffee shop affairs. I recommend the sushi when they have it. Can sometimes take a wee bit of time to get served depending on how many staff are working.

A lovely cup of coffee , but more importantly fantastic staff who saw a clumsy male struggling to gift wrap a present for his girlfriend with purple tissue and a gift bag and kindly provided sellotape, scissors and a smile. Many thanks :-)

Met a friend for coffee here after work. They have a large choice, I opted do an iced coffee. I asked for this blended which was ok'd at the til and then paid for. I then got to the barista who explained it would separate when blended therefore I was advised not to. Average coffee. Quite expensive. Wouldn't rush back. Would be better going to Starbucks.

Good selection of coffee and interesting sandwiches and soup. Good cakes that seem fresher and more appealing than some of the bigger chains.

We had tea and sweets here, the tea was fine and plentiful though milk was oddly served in little shot type glasses that didn't pour well at all. Apple pie and citrus tart were fine but nothing special.

good for a quick workday lunch. Sandwiches are served with a small side of crisps and mayonnaise. The excellent flavoured San pellegrino is available here, so sometimes I don't even have a coffee. Cakes are on offer, and sometimes macaroons. Wifi available.

I am referring to Tinderbox in Princes Square Glasgow. I always pop in here for a quick lunch. The sandwiches coffee and cakes are always lovely. The staff behind the counter always very friendly. However my first time to use their toilets and what a disappointment! Oh dear they are really dreadful I was so shocked. It wasn't just from one day I'm talking about the floor, all the woodwork that looks like it hasn't been cleaned for months and months.

Service awful. The staff seemed extremely miserable. Had a sandwich - very expensive but very mediocre. Sad because the Tinderbix in the West End is really good

We stopped off for drinks and sandwiches and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality. The sandwiches looked banal but were actually very tasty and most enjoyable. Don't overlook this place when in Princes Square!

After a long day shopping in this fine city for a gig, we decided a beer and a snack were required. It was late in the day but this place had seats so we ordered a couple of beers and a packet of salty popcorn.I'd gone to get a seat and hubby brought the beers out saying they weren't even cold. Seriously, they were so warm, they were hot! And the salted popcorn was sweet! Naturally I took it all straight back and asked whether the lager was acceptable as it was and to be fair, I was given an immediate refund for the beers and we left. No apology, as expected.A bit of staff training wouldn't go amiss.

Right in the centre of Princeses Square, great coffee and even better to find an authentic portugise custard tart. Would I come back again, you bet I would.

We stopped here for quick tea break and we chose a table still full with cans mugs from previous customers with the hope that someone from the staff would come and clean it. Despite my husband ordered and came over with the tray nobody came to clean the table. I then went in and asked if someone could remove the things from our table and they started discussing between them who should have done that. I was waiting seated all of this time but, as expected nobody came so we cleaned it by ourselves! Plus, the tea spoon which came with my tea was dirty and so was the teapot! Shame!

we stopped here on a sunday morning with a group of about 10. great location and very cool vibe about the place. the tea itself was good and other people with us seemed to enjoy the coffees. The buns etc all looked delicious with the exception of a bowl of oat with berries which looked like they had been sitting out for a week - they might want to not display that or at least give you fresh berries if you order it! I was thinking about ordering the porridge but very quickly changed my mind when I saw the state of the berries!aside from that, staff were friendly and it was a nice stopping point to kill an hour in the morning.

The coffee and cakes are nice but I really object to having to pour my own milk and fetch my own knives and napkins when you are paying Princes Square prices. The staff were unwelcoming and pointed to the milk and cutlery with a grunt.(which was across the way so I had to carry my tray over to fetch it) Next time I'm in Princes Square I won't be going there.

I went here with a friend and found it to be a jolly good place to stop and take a rest during a busy shopping trip in Glasgow. We found the coffee and tea to be plentiful and hot. We also had an assortment of pastries and biscotti and they were delicious. The staff were helpful and friendly although very busy. I will definitely return when next in Glasgow.

Really dont like to give a poor review, staff were friendly and Princes Square is a great location. We ordered a chocolate pastry and two coffees(latte and cappuccino). The pastry was heated up on griddle and was burnt, not just well done but really burnt black as was the pastrty at the table next to us. I had a cappuccino and it was lukewarm at best.It wasn`t a disaster as we asked for another pastry(chocolate ones finished) and we made the most of it.Staff were friendly as I have said but I cant help wondering how hard it is not to burn a pastry or serve hot coffee. The menus on table could do with a clean as well.On a positive note the pastry we ended up with was delicious and fresh, just a pity the basics weren`t right.

I dropped into Tinderbox in Princes Square today for a coffee with my friend and I'm afraid I was not impressed with the service at all. We ordered coffees and a toastie to share - we were charged around £5 and paid not thinking anything of it. Whilst we were waiting on our order we were told by the staff member that he forgot to charge us for the toastie...cue another £4.95. Whilst waiting on our order, I noticed the guy was using whole milk to make the coffees yet we ordered skinny. I mentioned to him and was told "oh sorry". I asked if we could take a seat and the response was "yes, just come back in a few minutes for the order". We sat down in the Princes Square courtyard and heard a yell for our order. I went in to pick it up with no acknowledgement from the staff at all. The toastie was on a plate, not cut in half, no side of anything and disappointingly there was approx 1 slice of bacon on cheap white bread...I would expect more for the £4.95 price tag.All round it was a disappointing experience. I would not usually write poor reviews on Trip Advisor, however, I searched online for email details of the company to contact them directly yet nothing was available. There are far nicer places to casually eat around Glasgow. I suggest Riverhill on Gordon Street would have been a better choice as they provide fantastic service and fabulous quality & selection of foods.

Visited with my friend one afternoon. Ordered one of their 'icebox' drinks as I didn't fancy a coffee. With my first sip I could tell it obviously wasn't what was ordered - it was an iced coffee. Took it back to the counter to swap. Girl behind the counter just stared at me, no 'how can I help' or anything like that. Explained what the issue was, got a reply of 'oh' and a blank stare. Eventually she took the drink off of me, explained the problem to another member of staff and returned to 'mutter' that my drink would be ready soon (I could barely make out what she was saying.) A few minutes later I was handed my drink. At no point did anyone apologise. I got the wrong drink, these things happen, but the problem was caused by the staff not apologising or even really acknowledging me. Also, my friend's teacup was badly stained and in desperate need of a proper clean. We shared a slice of cake which was lovely, but very over-priced. I wouldn't recommend this place and won't be returning.
