This was the best burger we have ever had. Quality ingredients, staff and experience. Would reccomend

The place was freezing cold; the burger was very small with an undercooked bap in it; completely like a wet sponge. Probably the oil was a bit old too, because my fries tasted like fish.

Service: Friendly waitress, knowledgeable and willingness to ensure we enjoyed our meal / night. Venue: Nice set-up, the music was great! Sadly, an overwhelming smell of the deep fat fryer lingered for several hours ... resulting in sore eyes and smelly clothes!! Meal: Average. I had a Groupon offer which was a good deal, however, I wouldn't be too happy to pay full price for what I received. I also ordered a side of onion rings as previous reviews highlighted how great they were - Mine arrived under-cooked! They were soft and pale in colour.

Will never ever visit here again and will recommend highly everyone to avoid. Went for my birthday, a group of 7. Service was extremely slow, waitress was moody and not polite. When the food came, 5 out of 7 burgers were incorrect. 2 were missing selections that they had ask for. 1 had a sauce on that wasn't asked for. 2 were incorrect burgers. My burger was completely wrong. When I told them that this was the wrong burger, I was given attitude. I asked if I could have the correct burger re-cooked. The chief came out with a ton of attitude and made me feel very uncomfortable, he asked what i wanted him to do about me getting the wrong burger. Part of there excuse was mixed up when playing up in the kitchen, however this couldn't have been the case, as the time between the first and last burger coming out was massive the first person had finished there food before the last burger came to the table. That aside, the paper under food goes soggy and you end up with clumps of it in your mouth with the chips. On that front the chips were cold. The burgers are completely over rated they are far too small, we all left hungry. However the onion rings were on point. So unless your going here to order onion rings, and get bad service, give it a miss.

Came with a small group, initially enjoyed the concept and had fun designing the burgers, however it slipped down when having to push for service to get more drinks as we weren't asked once in the close to 3 hours we were there. If service is going to be slow, at least look after your customers and ask if they need anything! We would have had so much more had we been asked!

Over visiting brother in Cardff and we finished our break with a meal in this beautiful place. The guy came over explained how it all worked build your own burger fill out the sheet and you can name your burger. Everyone enjoyed their meal food was amazing defo must place to eat. My 15 month old got her own portion of chicken and chips as there is no childs menu that i saw.

We were one of only five tables in a period of one hour and two of which walked out because the service was so slow. The waitress also got in an argument with two guys who came into speak to her, it was really unprofessional and ruined what little atmosphere there was. Don’t get me wrong, I know people have problems, but when you’re at work you’re at work. I felt sorry for the owner as he seemed like a decent guy. (You need to get the waitress in line or get rid, because I can categorically tell you she cost you two tables of two, put us staying for dessert and resulted in this review)

Five of us made a pit stop for a bite to eat on our way to the match in the principality Stadium. Time and beef was an ideal spot to get food. We all liked the build a burger menu and all of us had a different combination three beef one lamb and one chicken. The burgers were excellent and the skin on fries were lovely we all had soft drinks but noticed beers were also available. The mozzarella sticks as a shared starter were very good. One to add to my list for another visit.

Went last night and loved it. Relaxed atmosphere, loved the decor. Lovely waitress, explained how it all works there, as you build your own burger to your liking. Lots of choices, we all had a completely different burger, lamb, chicken, beef, and would love to go again to try a different combo. Food was gorgeous and plenty of it!

We arrived at around 12:15 for lunch and were met by a man I assume was the owner, sadly he said the chef had let him down so there would be a bit of a wait so it was up to us if we stayed. Using a groupon voucher which included fries and a drink we thought we’d stay and wait. The owner was extremely apologetic but we were in no rush. We ordered within 15 minutes or so and the food arrived in good time after that. The fresh, tasty burger arrived with a generous portion of fries and we were very happy with our decision to stay. Thank you for a great lunch.

If you’re in a hurry, go elsewhere! 3 tables in tonight, over an hour wait for a burger. I mean I wasn’t in a rush but you don’t expect to wait that long for a handful of fries and a burger with a bit of cheese slapped on top. Finished the main course in a mere 10 mins, then the chef decided to bring out an additional side 25 minutes after we had finished. No apology, no reason other than he didn’t have his glasses on. The place could do with an injection of some customer focused service with a chef who has a bit of va va voom. Food was tasty, but wouldn’t have hurt with a bit of salad to dress it up. Didn’t take a picture because by the the time I’d waited, I was famished. The menu started to look appealing. Saving grace was the fact I had a Groupon voucher, if id have had to pay full price I think I’d be in the pub drowning my sorrows. This was a trial run to bring my wife here, my wife won’t be coming.

You select each part of your burger from bun,sauce, salad, cheese and type of fries. The idea is that you build your own burger. Vegetarian and vegan burgers are available.

Burgers were fantastic. We were told there was a new chef who has taken control of the kitchen. Great flavour and balance. Will be back and hope it's just as good.

Do you ever need a £15 burger and chips? If you do, visit elsewhere. The staff were welcoming and the table by the window was great, but it became clear fairly quickly why the restaurant was more than half-empty. To be fair, the inflated prices were clear from the menu. A choice of bun and toppings was promising, and a beef mixed grain topped with guacamole and aioli was the choice. But the quality of burger and bun was undone by the bland afterthoughts and "cheesy chilli fries", and the whole experience underpinned by a ridiculously overpriced glass of Isla Negra Sauvignon Blanc which was more than the price of a bottle. It wasn't the Sauvignon that left a bitter taste in the mouth. Had a pudding later, which helped.

Really dissapointing experience today at time and beef. We used to love going here. Today we booked a table for 10 at 18:00, via google. We got asked if we booked and the guy said oh yes thats your table. The guy taking our order said he would bring the kids food first which we found really nice. However we waited 1.5 hour for the starters (came first)and then mains which all came together. No apology for the wait at all!! Only to find out our friends who were also dining today there got free drinks because of the wait of our table and because apparently we did not book in advanced enough(not my fault if you let people book short notice)I find this highly unprofessional i understand there was 10 of us and there can be a delay but to say we didnt book to your convenience,offer compensation to other customers and complain about us is disgusting!!

Lo que es peor cuando nos quejamos lo máximo que podían hacer era quitar 3 de la factura. No me impresionó. No volveremos Qué vergüenza ya que el concepto es bueno.

Hamburguesas deliciosas y un gran concepto de "construye tu propio". Sin embargo, reservamos y nos dieron la mesa por el inodoro. Esto no habría sido un problema, pero la gente seguía yendo al baño y dejando la puerta abierta, que estaba esencialmente en el exterior, por lo que había una gran corriente y seguíamos cerrando la puerta. Estaba lleno pero el servicio era lento, por suerte estábamos fuera por la noche pero estábamos hambrientos y la porción de patatas fritas nos recibieron con casi una hora después de haberlo pedido eran decepcionantes. No nos quejamos, ya que teníamos una oferta grupal, pero si no hubiéramos sido demasiado caros (las bebidas y el extra para las papas fritas casi duplicaron nuestra factura también). Recuerde llevar dinero en efectivo ya que no se acepta la tarjeta.

I live nearby and love supporting the independent restaurants and cafes over chains, but this place just can’t seem to sort themselves out! Tonight was my third visit over 1.5 years, and I’m not going again. The first two times I was astonished at how expensive it was to build your own burger, but did mildly enjoy the beef patties. Then, over the course of 1.5 years, my partner and I have tried multiple times to visit the restaurant to find that they are closing (at 7.55pm on a Friday?!? Should be prime time!), not serving anymore despite seeing freshly served visitors or the place isn’t even open.

If I was just scoring for the taste, I’d give this place 5 stars without a doubt

Visited yesterday with my wife and what a great concept.

We went with a groupon that included a side of skin on fries. I asked if I could upgrade to sweet potato fries and was told that was fine. After the meal we went to pay and was charged 3.50 to upgrade skin on fries to sweet potato. It seems it was not an upgrade - we were just paying for an entirely new side. Which also meant we missed out on the side which was included with our groupon.

We both rated our burgers the best we’d tasted in many years. The menus consists of building your own burger combo, it’s easy and helps with selection. The young waitress was really friendly and made us feel very welcomed! Thanks a lot!

We got a Groupon for a burger & fries there so we took a walk from the centre of Cardiff (about 20 minutes) and took in Time & Beef for lunch.

El viernes a mediodía y el lugar estaba medio vacío. Además, como han dicho otros, ¡hacía mucho frío! La comida, como el concepto de construir tu propia hamburguesa pero era pobre. Elige tu bollo, ok, pero vino tostado. No me gustan los panes tostados, así que hubiera sido mejor si me lo pidieran, tostados o no. Burger en sí era muy delgada / pequeña, puede ser similar en el menú de 99 p cadenas. Los ingredientes estaban bien, pero nuevamente la escasa porción I. La opción de “aros de cebolla” significaba 1 pequeño anillo de cebolla. Las patatas fritas eran de piedra fría, grasosa y en muy pequeña porción. Estaba bien llenar un espacio para 5 cada uno, pero no regresaría.

Fuimos a una cita doble con otra pareja después de enterarnos del sitio web First Table, donde puedes reservar una mesa anticipada con un 50% de descuento en la comida, de lo contrario probablemente no habríamos visitado esta hamburguesa.

I'm disappointed that I have to give 2 stars.....I think this place is worthy of 4, but as someone who eats out most weekends I don't feel I can.

Sorry for the late review but really wanted to make sure I did. Came here on my birthday and really enjoyed it. The service was great and the chef/owner was so friendly and chatty. Had a good laugh and the music playing in the background (his own compilation) was right up our street. If you want to go out, have great food without all the pomp then this place is perfect! We will be back.

Shame about the long wait. We waited over an hour for our burgers. When they arrived I asked for vinegar and it was brought to the table once I had almost finished my meal. The side order arrived towards the end of the meal. Not great! Such a shame as when the food arrived it was very nice. Lucky we had a Wriggle code as I wouldn't want to pay full price!

Absolutely delicious burger! The meat is good quality and I overheard the owner saying it is locally sourced from the butcher across the road. The staff are really attentive. Couldn’t fault this place at all. Recommended!

If you love burgers then I would certainly check this place out. You make your own burgers and the staff are very friendly and helpful along with reasonable prices.

The concept is simple build your own burger fresh local top quality ingredients. So this should be nice but top end burger joint.

When a place comes 2nd in the UK Best Burger Awards you have to try their food, so that's what I did. I found their burgers to be fantastic and the staff rate very highly too - friendly, welcoming, chatty, like an old mate. They also do craft beer on tap here for those who love a beer with their burger.

Time & Beef has a great menu concept where you get given a menu card and create your own burger: you can choose the type of bun, patty, toppings, sauces, cheese and side. There are a lot of varied options and you even get to name your burger. They also do a lunchtime deal of a burger and fries for £5.95 which seems very good value to me!

Time and Beef is brilliant, the burgers are amazing and I've gone for different fillings every time and never been disappointed. Their drink selection is fab and they are always so welcoming! I cannot recommend highly enough.

Great night at Time and Beef. Wonderful food, onion rings were slightly greasy and don’t try and find ‘sauce’ in the word search- due to a typo you’ll need to look for ‘szuce’. Wonderful service and we will definitely be back.

There are lots of choices for burgers in Cardiff but this place stands above all. We’ve been several times and on every occasion the service has been fantastic and the food even better. The concept is superb (backed up by great produce) and the drinks menu is also quality. Absolutely nothing negative to say about Time and Beef, love it!

Visited Time & Beef with my young daughter for an expeditious lunch as we had some things to do in Canton. Very appealing pop up restaurant with Hipster design. Warm welcome, prompt service. Built my burger to apportion and had two sides as well between two of us still could not finished all. Thanks to Steve and his crew for our great experience. Recommend to all!

This is the first time I have ever felt the need to write a bad review for anything. Booked a table for 8.30 for a birthday meal and was told at 8.40 that the table would 'probably be another 20-30 minutes. Went elsewhere. Clearly more interested about packing in as many people in as possible than having any sort of customer care. Shouldn't take bookings if they are incapable of managing them properly and let greed take over. Have been a number of times before but will not go again because of the unhelpful attitude.

Came for the lunchtime deal which was £5.95 for a burger and fries. Firstly I've given them an extra star for the price we paid. However I'd have been pissed off if we had paid full price.The burger wasn't the best looking. The patty looked rather flat and the taste didn't particularly stand out. I could have cooked something just as good from a supermarket burger.What I found strange was a complete absence of salad with the burger. I expect at least lettuce and tomato in my burger, however you get none of this. Just the patty, bun, and literally whatever else you order. I was satisfied with my burger for the price I paid, however I don't think I'd have been happy paying full price. Also there are so many other burger joints around town that serve better burgers. Don't think I'll be returning.

Amazing! The menu makes your mouth water and the burgers are just as good as they sound! I NEED to go back to try others! Everything's cooked fresh to order and you create your burger so great for fussy people too! The Mozzarella sticks are THE BEST I've ever tasted! EVER!

Such a fabulous concept ... such a disappointing outcome!! If you want a fully-customised burger and don't mind small portions, a charred patty and over-inflated prices then this is the place for you!!! I was expecting a gourmet burger but rather had a patty that dwarfed into insignificance in the bun!! The bill totalled £50 and the quality was inferior to that of Burger King the following day. I won't be revisiting! Got Beef is infinitely superior! Also the price warrants more than eating from paper and a tray!!

We came here due to a walesonline review and first impressions were great. The place is cool, the DJ playing makes it feel like a place for a night out and the staff are excellent (really good in fact)The ordering system is brilliant ! Great choice and a really fun part of the experience. The starters were excellent, we had nachos and calamari which were superb, couldn't be faulted. The nachos in fact were as big as a main course in some places.The burger itself for the main course were tiny however, it looked big on the plate but the patty was much smaller than I would expect from a specialist burger joint. A cooking issue was resolved very quickly by the superb staff however. We then asked for the bill which was quite steep to be honest. Beefy boys in Hereford is our favourite and whilst time & beef is good it's not up to that level yet. It wouldn't take much to make it much better though.

Regret paying over £45 for 2 burgers, fries and 2 drinks. Happy to pay this for a good burger however (frozen) fries were still firm, chicken burger dry and over cooked, paid £1 for a scrape of aioli and another £1 for a tiny bit of guacamole. For these prices I would expect much better quality. We also came out smelling like grill and the really loud tinny music was not good. In fairness, friends beef burger was tasty, and waitress helpful.

This place is trying to do too much. Poor quality food (ordered a vegan burger that tasted meaty) that was way overpriced, the place seemed odd atmosphere... it all seemed rather gimmicky.

It was an extremely quiet time when myself and my partner visited the restaurant. First impressions was great - great vibes and a really cool concept. As we were the only people in the restaurant at the time, we had a good service. Our starters came and for the price of it we wasn't expecting just 3 small chicken goujons. The main was tasty, a really nice burger. However, we could not believe the price of the food. Extremely over priced considering what you actually get. For the 2 of us the bill fell just a few pence short of £50.00 for one starter and two mains. The concept is definitely there, but the prices are unreasonable and not good value for money. Due to this we won't be visiting again.

We visited the restaurant last night as a table of six. We walked in to two other tables, one being a table of 8 and another of 6. We waited a good 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive and then where told our food would take atleast 45 mins because of the other two tables where in front of us in terms of ordering. Not only did the burgers take over an hour to come, they where very average and extremely overpriced. I had a standard single patty burger with 'extras' such as gerkins and tomato sauce etc and every 'extra' is an additional cost which is not clearly shown on your burger ordering form that you hand to the waitress.I felt very sorry for the waitressing staff who where so under pressure due to miss-managed bookings. Would definitely advise against visiting this restaurant. It has all the makings of being a good restaurant but is not being executed well at all at the moment.

Called in after looking at the menu in the window. They had a very good value lunch offer on, £4.95 for a burger, 2 toppings and fries.Choice of buns was nice and the toppings were plentiful, jalapeños a and gherkins were very good as was the homemade salsa. You can also close which cheese you have but I didn't have cheese this time, I wanted to try the beef. The beef was good, well cooked and tender. It was slightly overshadowed by the toppings, next time (and there will be a next time), I will pay £2 extra for a double patty. You have a choice of pattie as well, 3 meat, beef, lamb or chicken and 3 veggie, chickpea and sweet potato, black bean and chipotle or pulled oyster shroom and hickory BBQ. Interesting. Coffee was pretty good too.If you like burgers, you like choice and nice people, give it a go.Wouldn't mind fresh juices though.Thank you Time & Beef

Good and drink we're brilliant. Love the concept of designing and naming your burger as well as the ordering. The garlic and herb fries were lovely and not at all greasy or oily. Well worth a visit.

First of all we got there and they had run out of most beers after the weekend. We wanted 2 pints of draught IPA but could only have one. We went with a Peroni and our second round they ran out of them aswell! We were told it was a 'typical monday'!!!!Then we were told there was no lamb and no pulled pork.When the burgers came the chicken was only luke warm, my girlfriend didn't finish it as she didn't trust it. The rolls looked and tasted like they had been defrosted. For a burger that costs 11 quid + we expected far more and were very disappointed. We were very annoyed with the pricing strategy aswell as it was a quid extra for onions and a quid extra for lettuce!!! Could have overlooked the pricing if the burger had been up to scratch.Having read a few blogs and heard some good reviews we were really surprised. We checked trip advisor just before we left and should have listened to it as they were some very negative reviews on there.The only good thing was the service which was perfectly timed and friendly. We were given 10pc off our bill at the end too to compensate for our disappointment but i dont think it was enough to encourage to return in a hurry. My recommendation: go to Got Beef or Grazing Shed instead.

A friend booked the table online for a Christmas works meal. One of the party had arrived before us and tried to confirm our booking with the staff. We were told there was never a booking made for us even tho we had a confirmation email from the restaurant. From this point on I knew this evening wasn't going to be as smooth sailing as we hoped. So as we waited 15 for our table we were told that there would be a 40-45 min wait on food so we decided to jump the gun and order ASAP. Time and beef use a system where you create your own burger by ticking off different options on a piece of paper. I went for a lamb burger with halloumi and onions strings. So we were finally sat down and the rest of the party and ordered their cocktails and I had my Coke Zero (no Diet Coke available- slightly strange!) And so the wait began - we had previously stated to the manager that we had to be out of the restaurant by 9.15 as we had another activity after our meal and they confirmed we'd be done and paid by then. Well an hour went by and still no food - it's not a big restaurant and two big tables were eating as we had just sat down so there wasn't a rush on. Also watching two members of staff having a make out session behind the bar was slightly inappropriate especially when you're sat waiting patiently for your meal. Hour an 15 arrived and our starters still hadn't arrived. So I told the manager just bring out everything all at once once it's cooked. Now 9 arrived and after asking a further 2 more times our food finally arrived. Well I've never had to inhale my food as quickly as I did that evening - and two bites into my burger I realized they had definitely not given me a lamb burger but it was beef. At this point I didn't care and finished what was an over cooked, dry, mediocre burger if I'm honest. The Cardiff burger scene has see such a surge over the past few years and let's just say T&B will not be in the top 10!! I also had the Mac & Cheese bites which were bland, tasteless and burnt! The only highlight for me was the garlic and herb butter tossed chips which were actually really nice. After we'd finished our food I calmly went to speak to the manager to explain as our food wait was double to stated time and frankly our experience wasn't a very pleasant one that we wouldn't be paying for our food that evening. He looked at me in complete disbelief and told me that I was being rude and that I should understand that he had to keep his business going and that I was being ridiculous. He also said we'd got out food so what more did we want....not a 1 1/2 hour wait for my food maybe?!? In the end we settled on paying half of the bill which I still don't think we should have done. All in all our visit to Time & Beef was pretty much a disaster - rude staff, mediocre food and a try hard concept of a restaurant. Let's just say when the incredible Got Beef opens its second restaurant a few doors down from T&B later on this month I'm sorry to say but I think they'll be calling Time on Time & Beef very soon.

We visited here on a trip to Cardiff. It came highly recommended so we thought we would give it a go. You have something similar to a betting slip to tick off your selections. Firstly we ordered Mac and cheese bites for starters - I was very surprised when it arrived because it had jalapeños in it and nothing was written on the menu about this spicy addition. I didn't really enjoy it but when the waitress asked she then apologised and offered us 50% off the starter without us actually complaining, which was unexpected but appreciated. We also ordered 'billionaire fries' and 'garlic and herb butter fries' which I thought would be a tasty treat - unfortunately it was more of a token gesture with a sprinkling of flavour rather than the gastronomic hit I was expecting.The burgers were tasty but nothing special and certainly not worth the bill at the end. I can honestly say I won't be recommending or returning.

Absolutely loved the idea of Time and Beef's menu, and was not disappointed on our visit. A fun concept, followed up with great food. Love the fact they source all their food locally and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Cocktails were so good that we completely forgot to tip!! Feeling so guilty, sorry Steve!! We will be back.

My sister and I had been looking forward to visiting Time and Beef for a few weeks so we were glad that it lived up to its reputation. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. Service was perhaps a little slower than you would get in a chain restaurant but we both agreed that we actually quite liked this for a change as we didn't feel at all rushed with our meal. I loved being able to pick everything that goes on your burger as it meant I could have my ideal combination including a heaped topping of pulled pork (which I highly recommend!). But this also makes it great for fussy eaters as you can have as many or as few toppings as you like! Another great surprise was that the meat was actually served nicely pink in the middle - though I'm sure you could get it more well done if that's what you prefer. The garlic and herb fries were nice, though I would have liked them to have a stronger flavour to them, and the portions were a good size. We also very much enjoyed the cocktails and there was a great selection to choose from. My sister even claimed it was the best mojito she ever had! In fact we enjoyed the cocktails a little too much and we completely forgot to leave a tip when we paid (!) - but we will definitely be making up for it next time we visit as this place is certainly worth another trip!!

Tuesday night and still busy. Amazing burgers and clever drinks combos at this intimate and friendly eaterie near Cardiff City Centre. Steve and his team have got burgers cracked. Definitely a must go to burger restaurant.

My first time visiting after hearing and reading some good reviews. I'm a sucker for a good burger, when I hear words like homemade, locally sourced, organic ect it's music to my ears.Time & Beef seemed to tick these boxes, decided to go for a late lunch with a friend. On arrival was met by a friendly member of staff who asked us to take a seat, she them went through the menu and took our drinks order. I found the "build your own style" quite interesting however even for my 36 year old eyes the font on the order form was very small and difficult to read.Our orders were placed I went for a simple brioche bun with beef, jack cheese, bacon and tomato sauce. I didn't want to overload on the flavours as they pride themselves on the quality of the beef. Food arrived quickly enough, immediately I could smell the tomato sauce, not a good smell but a very vinegary whiff. I hoped it was just the pot that was on the table but it wasn't. The burger was covered in the stuff under the burger, on top of the burger, I tried to persevere, but the taste was so overwhelming. It was like eating a burger from a burger van with that really cheap sauce in the dirty bottles. When the waitress came over to check I explained the problem, she offered to cook me a fresh one but as we were pushed for time I declined. Biggest shock came when I went to pay and I was charged for the burger, rather than argue the case with the waitress (She was very pleasant and apologetic) I decided just to pay however I have no intentions of returning.I just don't understand why a company with such high values would choose to soak a burger in very cheap ketchup. A very disappointing experience.

Food was tepid, burger was drenched in some much bbq it's all u could taste and roll was tough, certainly wasn't fresh and certainly defrosted. For a burger place to get a burger wrong....

Went for an impromptu lunch with a mate and went to this beefy bad boy as he'd not been before. It didn't disappoint! Mac n cheese starter is a winner but it is all about the burgers. Create your own, so many possibilities, tasty patties, plus good beer... what's not to love! Definitely try it if youve not been before.

Went to Time and Beef for date night after a recommendation from friends. We were warmly welcomed by the waiter and drinks came quickly - lovely gin cocktail for me & hubby had a nice cold pint of Goose Island IPA! Great concept - delicious burger with everything you want in it! Good fun making and naming the burger too. Really nice staff and lovely service. #bestburgerever, we'll definitely be back.

My first experience at time and beef was a terrible one. I visited Cardiff from London to meet friends and we heard great reviews about time and beef. We arrived at time and beef as a party of 6 and the decor was lovely. We ordered cocktails which were poorly made. The menu was easy to read and well printed. We waited over an hour for our food which hadn't come even though two tables came after 15-25 minutes after us and their food came before us. When the food came after numerous questions to the waiters where our food is and with no joy I decided to speak to the manager. About 15 minutes later our food came and the chips were minimal and undercooked. The burgers were all cooked to death. One of our groups onion rings were uncooked. A terrible experience for us all and we were very disappointed.

Having read thousands (it feels like) positive recommendations of Time and Beef I was excited to visit. My burger was alright - but over cooked. Despite it not being busy, we were told there would be a wait thanks to a large table (of 10) having just placed an order. Struggle to understand how they can't keep up with a large group - surely there's usually more than 10 customers in the restaurant at the time. The bill was quite expensive and to be honest I've had much better burgers elsewhere. I'd go back to make sure they weren't having an off day but I'm in no rush - especially considering how many other great options there are on Cowbridge Road East.

Having read really good things about Time & Beef I was excited to give it a go, so took my partner for our anniversary. It started so well, the decor is very well done on an industrial theme, and the ordering system of filling out how you want your burger, is really fun. Unfortunately when the food arrived the fun was over; the chips were dry, hard, tasteless and lukewarm, I can honestly say these were the worst chips I have ever had, I’m not sure if they were under cooked or just a bad batch of potatoes, but I didn’t even eat half of them. The onion rings were pretty good but again lukewarm. Then we come to the burger, which was the best bit, but well short of Time & Beef’s claim to be “the best burger ever”. The beef patty although tasty seemed a little small and the pineapple slice had come straight out of the fridge, and not warmed as stated on the menu. Now that isn’t the end of the world, but if you are promising “the best burger ever” then you have to get the little things right. The bacon was ok and the cheese was good, but again there wasn’t much of it. The burger alone cost £10.50 and it wasn’t worth it, not even close. I would have complained but our waitress never came to ask how everything was and being an anniversary dinner I didn’t want to make a fuss. We were finally asked how our food had been, after we had paid the bill, and I did say I had been very disappointed, to which our waitress apologised and left it at that. We went on a Monday night and it wasn’t busy so I can’t excuse them on that basis. I don't know if this was just a bad night, or a new chef, but it was one of the most disappointing meals I have had for a very long time. Visited 10 October.

Went for a quick meal on Saturday night, staff were lovely and soo were the chips! But disappointed in my burger, it was very overcooked and I'm not that fussy! They were very busy so didn't bother to send it back as I waited nearly an hour to start with. I'm sure this was down to how busy the place was but not what I expected for the price at all.

Amazing burger place! Loads of veggie options. Really well cooked and decent portions, so many options there's something for everyone. The cocktails looked amazing too, I'll be back to try some!

Basically Build your own Burger.... It was delicious... But soon adds up price wise if you've got a big appetite. The Resturant was quite quiet only 2 other tables were eating and it was a Saturday night. But the burgers were will be back

Came across this place for an impulsive afternoon food and drink meet up with my sister. I don't usually rate burger places. My general feeling was a burger is a burger. However, I was very impressed with everything about this place. You have the burger buns explained to you - what suits what type of burger you build. They explain where there produce is sourced from. There is a wide range of fillings and sauces. The waiter/manager was very helpful, friendly and eager to please. We had Pinot Grigio which was lovely, they did run out but gave us a more expensive wine for the same price due to the inconvenience (still preferred the Pinot mind) I can't wait to go back again.

1st visit here, the staff were very friendly, professional and attentive, loved the food and would definitely come back again xx

Visited here for the 1st time since its change to time and beef and I wasn't disappointed at all great burger great service and the staff where very helpful and passionate about there product and brand will return in the evening

With so many great burger joints in Cardiff now I was highly disappointed. The burger was about half the size of the bun so when I cut it in half one side was virtually just bun and was very pricey, way more so than GBK or Got Beef. Food was ok but nothing great, won't be visiting again with so many other great burgers in Cardiff.

Just awesome. Best burgers in Cardiff. They also deliver via Deliveroo. The ingredients are top drawer, beer served is well kept and the service is very friendly.

Walked in a was fairly quite but it was a Thursday, soon after we arrived it filled up nicely. Very friendly service by all and felt very welcome. Had some really good beer on tap as well as a good choice of bottles. Didn't look at the wine menu but there appeared to be a good selection.It's a build your own burger concept so the scope is almost endless. I was very impressed that they didn't rely on the boring brioche bun that everyone else seems to do. They had a choice of four different buns. I had a potato based bun which was very much like a sourdough, it tasted great. For all you brioche lovers there is a brioche option but please don't be so boring. The rest of the fillings are all great and well portioned so you feel your getting your money's worth.My girlfriend thought the sweet potato fries were the best she'd ever had, and she knows her way around a sweet potato.Overriding feeling as we left was a really good burger and even better hospitality.

Really enjoyed our visit to this place. Burger tasted great. The mini mac and cheese weren't as good as hoped though which was devastating!! Dry and not cheesy at all. Maybe it was just an off day for the chef.All in all though the burger choices are great and the staff very friendly!

My wife and I have visited Time & Beef a few times since it has been open. As others have mentioned, you can pick your burger combination, and put as much or as little as you like on it. Despite that, I still always go for the vegetarian, with chorizo and some other bits. Once you find the perfect combination, you don't want to change...The food is really good, the bar is equally so. They have a couple of Tiny Rebel beers on draught, plus a whole host of bottles in the fridge, and a good cocktail menu. The best thing about this place though - the service. All the staff are friendly, without being over the top. They know when to chat, and when to leave you alone. As a customer, you are always made to feel welcome, and its quite clear you can sit there all night if you wish to do so. They are equally happy for you to sit and have a full meal, or just stop in for a drink.To address comments re the cost - I dont agree that the prices are high at all. You get good quality food, made to order, and delivered by people who want you to enjoy it.I highly recommend a visit. If you see someone sitting in the window with a pint of Tiny Rebel, thats probably me...

The food was amazing. Build your own burger is a great idea. The service was excellent as well. Fully recommend visiting if your in Cardiff.

Brilliant home made burgers and friendly service, a lucky find on the Internet as we needed a nice place to eat before Rod Stewart concert at nearby Cardiff City Football Ground. Highly recommend!

We knew we wanted to visit Time & Beef after seeing it climbing up the ratings on TripAdvisor. Popped in with our grown up kids last week as they both fancied it. The staff were lovely, friendly and very attentive. We had two cocktails both of which were delicious. The choose your own burger system is fun and easy to use. The burgers were tasty if they are your thing, although it is not really the type of food I want to eat too often. it is a very casual venue and done out really well. All in all not a bad experince, but we did feel that almost £100 for 4 of us is pricey for burgers, so watch the pick your own system as the prices do creep up.

Attended here after reading some of the reviews and we were not disappointed, fresh homemade burgers with endless amounts of toppings to choose from.. Had the lamb burger with garlic and herb tossed fries. Will be going back !!!

We have just come back from our second visit at Time and Beef and again, it was delish! We have been twice as a family but it's also a nice place to go as a couple or with friends for a tasty burger & good drink!! Amazing atmosphere, funky decor, friendly staff, all fresh locally sourced produce, variety of drinks including cocktails and tasty burgers with a unique twist as you get to build and name your own burger by picking your bun, meat/veggie option, cheese, toppings etc...so many options and such a great concept! They have previously had more lively nights with live music (bank holiday) which we missed but would love to try. Highly recommend visiting Time & Beef! It's definitely my new favourite burger place!

There's so many burger places in town these days, it's hard to know which to choose! But believe me when I say, you should choose this one! Locally sourced food... Incredibly friendly staff... Amazing cocktails and a fun and inspiring burger concept. Worth a visit! I promise.

The deep fried macaroni is a must - it's changed my life! Great service, everyone was very friendly, the food was amazing - would definately recommend!

Went on meat free Monday. For once a place which does a selection of burgers for veggies that doesnt feel like an afterthought!We both really enjoyed our burgers and sides. I had the cheesy aubergine, he had the chick pea. The onion rings and mozzarella sticks were ace too. Price was a very reasonable £30 to feed and fill two.My only suggestion would be perhaps to add a tempeh or fake meat type of option.We will be back!

Visited Time & Beef off the cuff with some colleagues yesterday (27.05.2016). Cool, trendy looking little place and nice staff. We all decided to order brunch and they have a nice little tick box method of ordering. Being veggie I ordered a veggie type brekkie. Food took a good while to come after we'd ordered drinks and unfortunately mine was barely warm. Everyone else said theirs was fine, so don't know why mine (especially my beans) was barely luke warm.Food comes on a type of small tray with paper on top (under your food), which doesn't look or feel quite right, especially when you have baked beans and sauce. For what you get I also feel the brunch is quite pricey and I could have easily eaten more, paying £5.90 for orange juice and a very small veggie brunch. The others enjoyed theirs though and people on a near table ordered burgers, which looked amazing! Despite my criticisms I would try Time & Beef again and perhaps opt for a veggie burger option next time, as the burgers looked very filling and delicious. As well as it being a lovely place and staff there being very nice.

Loved creating and naming our own burgers, can't wait to take the kids here next time. Lovely cocktails and food tasted great plus reasonably priced. Funky decor for a romantic night out!

Food was amazing! Lots of choice, loved the fact that you could customise your burger!! Could tell that the meat was good quality! Fun idea to name your burger after you've picked everything. Customer service was amazing and we were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked through the door. Would recommend to friends and Will definitely be back again!!

The first thing you need to get your day started is a good Breakfast and when it's delivered with a smile all the better. The Guacamole is exceptional. Looking forward to being back for a burger.
