Insomnia Coffee Company in Cardiff

Visited today 15th August 2020. Had a coffee in a dirty mug. I asked for a clean mug and the man who made it said it was coffee drops. But the coffee drops were dried on. If it was freshly made they would have been wet. Very unprofessional and rude. Need proper training.

My friend and I have taken to touring Cardiff coffee shops in our lunch breaks when we can, and trying to find the best coffee in Cardiff. Insomnia held the top spot for me for a while. The strength of their bold coffee flavour held me for a while, and the food, though not cheap, always makes for an enjoyable "café experience" for me.

Stopped here as a change to the usual Costa etc. Was pleasantly surprised - the coffee was very good (in recyclable takeaway cups as the dishwasher was broken.) The only problem was that the nearest toilet is on a different floor (with the escalator/lift being on the other side of the floor!)

I visited this coffee shop in St David’s centre Cardiff. Big mistake. The coffee was dire and the muffin dry with no taste and very little blueberry. Should have stuck to Costa.

Nice coffee shop with food deals. Coffee ok , just a pity the service is so slow. Still if you're in St David's 2 , this is somewhere to sit down and rest your feet , and have a coffee and snack , as long as it's not too busy the service might be ok

It's clean, decent prices, acceptable food, service was good. I've been in a number of Slug and Lettuce pubs in the UK and they're all pretty much the same. If there's nothing really interesting nearby this is a safe basic choice for food.

After shopping for a while I needed a drink and a sit down and saw this cafe in Debenhams. There's plenty of selection of hot and cold drinks and cakes. Prices are reasonable. My only critism is my cappuccino was literally spilling over the top of the mug as it was so full. The chocolate muffin went down well!

First time here, last time here!!!! don't mind paying £2.50 for a flat white which was nice but 1 saucer between 3 and no biscotties. What type of coffee shop is this

This is the best hot chocolate in Cardiff particularly with marshmallows and cream!, Been several times and it is always good my granddaughter 7 loves it!

We've been to Insomnia Coffee upstairs in Debenhams directly opposite Starbucks a couple of times for coffee and cake in recent months and think it's a great find that's not really been widely publicised and, until now, without a TA listing either to help people. You get good, strong but smooth fairtrade coffee here, and at reasonable prices for an in-store concession we think, with excellent cake too in our experience. With standards like this, this Irish coffee chain ought to do well in the UK and we look forward to trying some of their other franchise outlets in due course
