Just love this pub, full of quirky corners, interesting decor. Really friendly staff, always warm and welcoming. Often go for pre drinks.Will definitely try food menu next time here.

We called in on a Saturday afternoon to thank the staff for taking care of my 80 year old mum who fell badly whilst crossing Wellfield Road after leaving the bistro and was badly shaken. So caring - they stayed with her for over an hour. They have a lovely brunch menu so we enjoyed a brioche roll with bacon and sausage accompanied by delicious coffee. Very tasty and the staff are super!

Rude beyond belief. Obnoxious. 2 ladies shoved in the back corner. Asked to change tables. Told tables weren’t available despite many tables being free. Very discriminatory … age is obviously an issue despite affluence!!

Wow! Friendly, professional, attentive service. Their small plate tapas was delicious, fresh, well prepared and presented. Don't miss this one!

Came here today for lunch with my dad. We had tapas which consisted of chicken and chorizo, calamari, garlic prawns, spicy wings, breaded cheese and bread and oil. Thoroughly enjoyed every since bit, and nether of us are easily pleased. I’m surprised by some of these bad reviews, the food was superb quality, hot, reasonably priced, a lovely vibe and the waiter, a young lad was so pleasant and well mannered. Thank you, will be back soon!

I went to cameo for the first time last night. A really chilled setting, great staff and the tapas was delicious. The perfect place for a couple to drink and dine. Highly recommended

First visit here and was pleasantly surprised by the variety of wines and cocktails on offer, run by friendly and attentive staff. Even with the Covid measures in place we felt comfortable and relaxed, I would definitely stop by again!

Despite living just around the corner, we've never been here before. Currently they have a small plate/tapas menu with lots of choice, and table service. The food was excellent. Chorizo, honey glazed sausages, caprese, prawn tempura, spring rolls, bbq chicken. All really tasty and decent portions. Good spacing between tables, staff wearing masks and we felt safe and comfortable. Would happily go here again

Food was ok but service very poor and waitress did not know the difference between Coke Zero and Diet Coke, portions very small, don’t go if you are hungry

Popped into Cameo for Sunday lunch with a friend and chose the lamb roast. It was delicious the meat was tender the vegetables tasty and the gravy was great. Attentive service relaxed atmosphere. One of the best Sunday lunches we have had in Cardiff.

Dropped into Cameo with a friend for coffee.Managed to get a window seat which was nice. They offer a selection of menus. Have a dining area upstairs too. Staff really friendly will make sure I try the food on my next visit. Lovely local bar and restaurant.

My last meal in 2019 and what an experience. The food was fantastic, cooked well and presented to a 5 star standard as was the service. Despite being a £40 TDH menu the chef didn’t hold back and he is a credit to the culinary arts. Cameo will become a regular indulgence for me. Well done.

Service was ok, but the food was absolute terrible. They really need to up their game and get a decent chef. Definitely won’t be returning in a hurry.

Not sure about the food, however they have good selection of drinks, staff is friendly and helpful, will be back for drinks after meal in next door (Saraztro)

I went here last night and paid £22 for two pints of IPA, a small white wine and a single gin and tonic. If you are popping out for a drink you are much better off going to a local pub like the Albany. I have eaten here and food is bistro type fare. Not great!

Excellent place for a coffee and cake to meet up with friends. The food is also good for a lunch or dinner. Car parking is easy. Service is friendly.

I recently returned here due to convenience, improved customer service and Morretti on tap..however on asking the waitress if the meat was Halal the reply from the Chef was he did not know.

We live nit far from here but had never been here for a meal. We were really impressed, a good choice on the menu, excellent service and lovely food. Would definitely go three again. Only minor minor issue, is that the disabled toilet is very close to where the tables are at the back. Fortunately not used while we were there.

Just popped in for a quick pint of ice cold Moretti. Then had arguably the best chicken burger I’ve ever eaten. Highly recommended.

My wife and I went to Cameo last week as it was our Anniversary. The staff behind the bar and in the restaurant were brilliant - We hadn’t booked a table, as we didn’t plan on going out for dinner, but they told us one would probably free up soon. We sat in the bar area had some wonderful cocktails and after what seemed to be a short wait we were taken to our table in the restaurant. That food was great, the wine was great and the atmosphere was lovely. Would highly recommend. I think my wife and I found our new local. Thanks again for a wonderful evening Cameo.

What a joke paid nearly £20 for a sea bass main that had a 4inch sea bass and lots of broccoli!!! Complained and was told by chef sea bass were small this time of year 😂😂😂😂if it wasn’t so bad it would be funny !!!

Family lunch gathering in Roath, we found ourselves with some shade on a hot Easter Sunday, in the rear yard at Cameo.

First visit. We were two couples out for a late afternoon lunch. It's not often you find all parties finish a meal and agree it was exceptionally good. Well prepared, well presented and delicious. Add to that the attentive service and it's 5/5.

Based in Welfield rd Cardiff, is a very special " coffee house and teashop" exceptional coffee, with a special £3.50 coffee and welshcake with a dark choccy or biscuit Staff are just Delightful, lovely social circle as well thoroughly recommended. T

Went here to celebrate my husbands birthday, thought I would take him for breakfast before we headed into town. Ordered 2 eggs Benedict’s, tea and coffee, unfortunately I was disappointed in the taste of the food. The presentation was good but I think as a recommendation to have Palmer ham than cut ham underneath the eggs would be better. I did advise the waitress that the hollandaise sauce was very vinegary which she agreed and did take the drinks off the bill which was nice of her.

I was at the establishment having a hospitality dinner booked for 11.30 before we moved onto the wales rugby game later in the day. There was 16 of us in total, a soup starter came out cold, a steak was the wrong type & cook type and there was no time left for dessert as we had to get to the stadium, we were told we could return for our desserts and could return to the upstairs seating area. However when we returned after the match upstairs area was closed and were directed back downstairs to the restaurant area where the leader of our group was dealt with in what I can only describe as appalling customer service! When we tried to explain our situation to a ‘manager’ she accused our group leader as aggressive and had no interest in dealing with our concerns or requests!! And to top it off the so called ‘owner’ decided to intervene and stand nose to nose with our group leader and repeatedly say goodbye. Appalling & embrassing service considering we spent a lot of money there and walked back in the rain to the establishment. Management team need to take a long hard look at how they treat there customers!!!!

This place is a quaint restaurant and cocktail bar in the upmarket area of Roath Park. The bar area is a little small but the staff always help with seating. There is a smoking area to the rear but closes at 8pm .The restaurant is over 2 floors and offers a wife variety of food at good value.

A friend suggested meeting at Cameo, she had not eaten here before, but said she'd had coffee and it had good atmosphere.

Went in on the off chance as Juno Lounge was full. Never been before but was very impressed. I had the steak which was perfectly cooked and one of the best I’ve had. Partner had the Lamb which she loved. Only negative was the pepper sauce was watery. Definitely going back.

First and last visit for Sunday lunch. Arrived on time for our booking. Waitress took drinks order straight away and then forgot about us entirely. After 10 minutes I had to ask for one of the many waitresses to take our order. Starters appeared 30 minutes later. They were acceptable in terms of food quality etc. It took 10 minutes to eat these dishes. 40 minutes after this our main courses appeared - luke warm at best. This was after I had to ask a waitress where our food was!

Visited here for a friends hen party as she wanted somewhere near her parents so her mum didn't have far to travel. Staff uninterested, wanted to speak to someone about some of our food being luke warm as if it had been sat around waiting to be served the chef was rude and dismissive. We put it down to maybe an off day but now seeing the news we've realised that this is the culture of the place and we were lucky to just walk away. Google Molly Phillips and this club. We won't be going again and we are going to find somewhere else to hold another hen party for my friend once she's married and back from honeymoon to make up for this one.

We visited on Wednesday 27th November we support a young man with aspergers a nd he can be very demanding. Staff were excellent with him and we had q great meal and a lovely evening. Thank you very much.

We have just had the best Sunday lunch we’ve had in a very long time. I chose the Sirloin & my husband had Brisket. The meat was cooked to perfection & so tasty. We could not fault anything & with a large glass of wine each it was the perfect venue for Sunday lunch.

Wow, great Sunday Lunch, I had the salt marsh Lamb, it was delicious, lots of vegetables and crispy potatoes. We would definitely recommend a visit, will be back again!!

Always liked the Cameo and the new Chef has taken the specials to a new level. We shared a truffle & cheese ravioli for a starter.....DELICIOUS. Then we both had the Monkfish & Pancetta on a curried risotto.....WOW. Friendly service and ambience top notch......as always!

Have visited here several times. The atmosphere is great as is the service. The Seville green olives with sundried tomatoes are delicious as is the butternut squash soup. The bartender also makes a mean bloody Mary. Great place for a light bite but I need to sample a main course. I'm sure it will be delicious.

We popped into Cameo early evening on a Friday night. As always we received a lovely welcome and after a quick drink in the bar area we were seated at a quiet table for two in the restaurant. We decided to just have a main course, my partner had the pan fried chicken and I went for the Monk fish wrapped in Parma ham on a bed of curried prawn risotto from the specials board. Now the service and food in Cameo is always good however our meals were extraordinarily good, both meals were spiced to perfection and the monk fish and curried prawn was an absolute culinary delight. Thank you to the chef and all the staff for making a quiet night out into a perfect evening...

We needed to find a nice place for a quick meal and saw this. Nice stylish front and menu with mixture of simple and interesting foods attracted us. As we walked in we were not sure where to go as the bar ares was very busy but the waitress immediately became up to us and welcomed us taking us through part the bar to the restaurant area. She was lovely - explaining the menu and quickly getting us drinks. We had the Chicken Milanese and the Burger. They happily changed the seasonal veggies to sweet potatoe fries and a tomato salad at no additional charge. The food was presented beautifully and was quite simply delicious. Steve’s burger had onions, peppers, relish and lettuce and his chunky fries perfect. Service was prompt but not rushed and we were in and out in just over an hour. As we left it was as clear this was popular as the bar had filled up and was very lively. We will definitely be coming back here again!

Have eaten here twice in the last month and both times, the food took a while to arrive. However, the sheer choice available, the cheeriness of the staff and a superb vegetarian curry dish have made up for this. The garlic mushrooms are good as is the bacon baguette. The food and service is not as fast as it could be but that fits with the ambience of the place as a relaxed but smart eatery.

Went to the Cameo for supper last night and was, yet again, mildly disappointed. Only had a main course which was one of the vegetarian options. It consisted of a vegan bun, lettuce, tomato and what looked like a store bought/ heated from frozen vegan burger. There was no sauce in the burger but one came on the side (a spicy ketchup), which was essentially ketchup mixed with pepper? As in black pepper from a shaker... It also came with some chips. Could have done better myself. Restaurant wasn't bustling but the food still took about 45 minutes to arrive.

Popped in to meet up with a client over a coffee, and wanted somewhere quiet but private enough so everyone couldn't hear our conversation, and fair play the Cameo was absolutely perfect. We sat to the left as you walk in, within 5 minutes one of the young members of staff came over and we ordered 2 drinks which came very swiftly and the then we ordered some food. Ordered a quick snack and it was very nice, and the price was good too, so happy with that also,

This place is a gem! Recommended to us by friends who’ve recently visited we went this evening for the first time. It won’t be our last! Maria greeted us as soon as we entered and she was a delight! Nothing was too much trouble and she was so welcoming. The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and intimate with a boutique feel. Cocktails, wine list and good on-tap beer was a great start. The food was excellent! Every dish was clearly made fresh to order and was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Beef Sliders for starters were tasty and quality, and the sea bass on pea and prawn risotto I had for my main is to die for! Honestly can’t say a bad word about this place - we were blown away by the service and the food! Bring on next time!!!

me and my friends ordered food there and it took very long time for them to arrive and when it did, it wasnt even warm nor hot, it was cold. the service are so slow it is unbelievable.

This is the second time I have come to this bar for Sunday dinner and been let down. They ran out of meat completely and my family were left stranded without dinner after taking our drinks order. We complained, and although the the staff were very apologetic, we weren't offered any compensation. They say they serve dinner until 5pm, we arrived at 4. Totally unacceptable and it ruined our evening.

Went in for food with a few friends a few days ago. We were told to sit anywhere so we did. We waited about 10 minutes for food menus and yet we still had to ask someone for them. Ordered a few cocktails which came quickly. Didn’t taste nice. We ordered food, starters and mains, which took ages to come in a quite dead restaurant. No apology or update on when the food would come. When it did it was okay, nothing special, didn’t have desserts, but we weren’t given a dessert menu anyway. Evening ruined by substandard service. Don’t recommend. Won’t come back.

i went with 2 friends for a social evening and was very disappointed when placing our food order we had a long wait ,it was early in the evening and very quite so not sure what the delay was .we received our food and it was very good however after we finished our meal we were not offered a desert menu so after waiting a while we got fed up of waiting so went and asked for the menu .we then ordered and asked for the bill at the same time to save any more waiting.on receiving our deserts we asked them to return one as it looked and tasted awful.we were offered alternative but were totally fed up by now .to make matters worse where we were sat close top the door someone had somehow brought dog poo in and so my one friend was unable to eat her desert,while this was not the restaurants fault there was no apology we then asked them to take the one desert of the bill and they then brought back another bill charging us the same !terrible service all evening on what was a reasonably quiet evening no offer at any time to reduce the bill or offer drinks as compensation for a very poor evening.needless to say we will not return.

Drinks and food are extremely over priced more than some restaurants/ bars In town?!? Double G & T and a pint of lager £17! Absolutely ridiculous prices. We didn’t eat here this time but the last time we did the food was terrible. The garden area shuts at 8pm so on a lovely summers evening you are told to sit inside or stand in a tiny bar area. The place just doesn’t work, Over priced for what it is. Such a shame. We will not be returning here again or sadly would we recommend to friends or family

Our son took for a meal last night. The meal was booked for 7pm. On arrival the restaurant was packed. However, was were showed to our table upstairs which was much quieter. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive. The menu was very varied and to suit most tastes but quite pricey. However, having said that the food was of the highest standard. We all ordered different choices. I had the mushroom starter which was the best I have ever tasted. Followed by Fillet Steak which was awesome. Would I go again. Most definitely. Well worth a visit.

We don’t have a budget when it comes to comes to a good meal. Indeed, there are places where we wish they’d put the prices up a little in order to filter people. However, dinner here was expensive for what it was. It’s really not up there with the chains like Cote and Brasserie Blanc yet charges much more.

Lunch with friends which we were all looking forward to. The service was extremely slow and we were told twice (10 minutes apart) that our meals were being plated up. We suspect our order was forgotten. When it eventually arrived the food was ok.

Catch up lunch with friends, always nice to visit Cameo in Wellfield Rd, lovely location, always bumping into someone you haven’t seen for ages. Food is consistent we ordered the beef sliders (2 small brioche burgers and chips) which were more than adequate for lunch Followed by coffees . Lovely relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff, £21.35 total.

Called in for a meal on Friday night staff very friendly and polite was able to find a table for two, the service was quick and prompt the menu is very limited and very overpriced for what you get two starters two small main courses two drinks and a bottle of water just under £60 very pricey for what you got food was good and tasty cannot complain wouldn’t recommend this place due to the cost. This Obviously haven’t concerned a lot of people as the place was packed

Excellent location, nice decor, terrible service! ordered a coffee not very busy inside took 25 mins to arrive. Went up to counter to ask where it was told 4 to make will do it shortly...... no apology! Judging by last few reviews management need to address service issues. These are pointers for you, don’t rely on name or location! Plenty of other options in this area.

Food arrived tepid, roast beef was tough, roast potatoes hard and chewy, gravy cold and Yorkshire puddings like rubber. Sorry won’t be visiting you again.

Called in on my own for a Full Welsh Breakfast this morning. Very nice place, really nice staff, and the breakfast was first class! Well worth the visit!

Excellent roast beef followed by a selection of cheese (shared) and chocolate cheesecake with mango sorbet. All hit the spot and washed down with a nice bottle of red wine. Friendly service and a great atmosphere made for a lovely leisurely afternoon. Will go again without doubt.

Excellent calamari must be one of their best dishes. Never disappoints. I was really looking forward to the coq au vin as it’s also my ‘signature dish’ so was eager to compare. No comparison !! Instead of using chicken thighs, I was presented with half a chicken which although being generous included the ribs and innards which were not pleasant and so difficult to find the meat. Apart from my moan, all our guests enjoyed their meals and we will return, but not for the coq au vin !!

I recently booked the upstairs lounge for a surprise birthday for my husband. The manager (Antoine) provided excellent service at all stages, and went to a lot of effort to ensure everything was arranged to suit our needs. We selected hot buffet options (plus nibbles on arrival), and the chef went to special trouble to plan some "small" desserts for us (the sizing was actually pretty generous) to go alongside the cake we brought ourselves. The room was perfect for our party (roughly 40 people), allowing for some people to be seated but encouraging informal mingling amongst the guests - particularly useful as we had kids of a range of ages present. The food was superb and very plentiful and they did well to cater for a range of dietary requirements (even at fairly short notice). Our waiter Tom was also excellent, providing great support and service on the night, and allowing us to respond flexibly to guests' needs in terms of timings and arrangements. Highly recommended!

Visited with a group of chums who lunch at various Cardiff restaurants. The staff were friendly, the food, frankly was excellent. The only problem was the decor. I realize the Cameo has gone for a bistro style decor and they want to also attract a cafe trade but the decor is too austere for the quality of food. The origin of the name Bistro is the Russian for faster, a demand for fast food. This is certainly better than fast food.Step up a notch Cameo, perhaps start with table cloths.You could have a winner

Never had food there before and knew from previous visits that the staff were friendly and there is a good vibe at the bar.

Second visit but first time eating. Good atmosphere in the bar but a bit cramped and nowhere to sit, so we decided to sit at our booked table early. I found the seats/tables a bit close together and it was pretty noisy. They did not have the starter I wanted so chose the calamari which was quite pleasant. 3 of our party ordered porcini mushroom ravioli. Looked great when it arrived but the filling was far too strong. I only managed half the plate and my friend had to scrape out the filling. When asked I told the waitress who said she would tell the chef. Heard nothing further. Suppose I could have complained more but didn't have the energy as despite the food we were having a good evening with friends. Would have been good value had the food been good. Will visit again for a drink on our way to eat somewhere else.

Really nice atmosphere in cameo . Staff extremely helpful and pleasant . Food good and neither expensive or cheap . But well cooked and presented . Drinks a bit pricey but comfortable seating and rear garden . Would recommend very pleasant lunchtime

Our first visit and very impressed with service, quality and choice. The food was freshly prepared and cooked, well presented and very tasty with good sized portions.

I have to say this place continues to grow on me. The chef certainly knows how to cook meat perfectly. Steaks, lamb or the duck special that the wife just had, all cooked perfectly and decent value too.

One of the best Sunday dinners I've had out in a long long time. Plentiful portion, tender meat - ordered the pork and tried the beef and lamb shoulder and all were fantastic. Reasonably priced. Service great too. Thanks very much. Will definitely return.

Firstly a lovely buzzing bar area, very helpful and attentive staff.. But! Iv never managed to have a good main course here, this was my third visit over about 18 months/2 yrs, my starter always nice but each time my mains been So disappointing..on this occasion I chose off the specials menu...when I see the word Venison, I'm sold.. but this was awful.. I'm sorry you can't braise venison.. at least I now know.. and please don't put bisto gravy on food and call it a red wine jus.. literally. Very poor effort, my husbands steak was delicious however and our wine gross, we gave it to the table next to us. This was the first and very rare night out after having a young baby and it was cut short with naff food. I'll come back but for drinks only and the fact that the staff are so smiley and helpful.

In for lunch, had a steak baguette with chips (proper chips from potatoes, not fries from powder) which was really good and at £10.99 pretty good value. However drinks were priced including 50p for a squirt of soda and £1 for a dash of lime cordial. Staff were really nice and helpful, so overall 4 stars deserved!!
