Starbucks - St David's Centre The Hayes in Cardiff

Morgan is great!! The guy in m front of us was pretty rude and Morgan handled it with such grace and patience! He was so cheerful and happy and made us smile on a rainy day!

I spent two minutes watching two staff members avoiding my eye contact although I was standing on the other side of the counter and they were facing me. Obviously dumped my purchase on the counter and went to Costa coffee to be greeted by a smiling staff member

Gor to town a little early for a show in St David's Hall, so stopped her for a coffee to kill some time. The staff were lovey and helpful and talked a non starbucks person through their menu and helped me decide on the best drink for me. Both drinks were made in good time and were really enjoyable. We sat in for a little while and saw the cleanilness of the place give that it had been open all day and obviously had had a lot of traffic through the doors. The toilets were clean also and the staff were quick to clear tables as soon as they were vacated. I would happily visit again.

I was in Cardiff to attend an appointment at Apple Store. I had time to kill so came to grab a cold drink, sit in and read my book. The staff member at the entrance was very welcoming, smiley, attentive and helpful. The same can’t be said about the rest of the staff. There were three possibility four other staff members about and despite this there was still a cue of nearly ten people. One staff member was putting stock away and taking her time about it. The staff member on the till and the barista were tacking amongst themselves between serving customers customers. There was no attention or urgency being paid to the growing queue of customers. The staff member was not really smiley or welcoming either. First time in this SB’s and it was a very poor first impression. The only staff member I can praise was the one receiving and welcoming customers.

Called in for a hot chocolate and latte service was quick place was very busy seating limited.Internet access available.The only negative in our visit was you had to see a member of staff for the code to use all toilets.If the staff are very busy because of one toilet for men’s women’s and disabled all requiring a code to open the door.

Filter coffee was great. So was the lemon cake. Staff not so good. Quite rude and very indifferent. The coffee was hot and fresh but the staff seemed fed up. One asked me to scoot aside, another said she'd call me when the latte was ready. She didn't, so when we eventually got it, it was luke warm.

I witnessed a waitress here, refuse to serve a group of Middle Eastern students, because they were talking in a language SHE didn't understand amongst EACH OTHER. Most of the people that go there are foreign students, so why employ somebody like this god knows ! We take linguistic politics seriously in Wales & everybody & anybody are allowed to speak any language they choose.

Poped in for a hot coffee very nice and staff very warm and welcoming.Nice inside and very clean.Super .

Great friendly staff here and great coffee as usual! Nice relaxed setting! Will be coming back, no doubt multiple times!

Busy place but can get a nice view from the window of the main street. No pumpkin spice available on the day I went but coffee was nice anyway.

At least with Starbucks you know what your up for what ever city you are in. The place could do with a little attention to detail with their cleaning, but the coffee is ok as long as your not a connoisseur

Not bad - never been a great Starbucks fan, but this was pretty good for late night food and coffee. Panini was pretty good and the coffee better than any other Starbucks I've had.

After initially getting lost meeting a friend here, the staff were great and the prices were reasonable considering. It was decently clean in there.

I visited here with my husband today after a day of Christmas shopping. We usually enjoy the coffee in John Lewis but both fancied a festive coffee so went to Starbucks in St David’s centre. On arrival it was busy but not overly busy. I ordered two regular toffee nut lattes and a blueberry muffin. We were told we would have to have the coffees in takeaway mugs as they had run out of mugs in the regular size (they were all left on the empty tables as they hadn’t been cleared!) We found a seat and noticed that there were all crumbs and dirty marks all over the table and the floor was strewn with rubbish-empty wrappers and crumbs. The place didn’t look very clean and tidy at all. The coffee it self was ok, I enjoyed the festive one in McDonald’s more. The blueberry muffin was nice. Just disappointing on the whole.

Called in before show in st davids hall ,no atmosphere very bland coffee shop,went to use toilets (two out of three) not working, empty coffee cups cluttering tables ,really need to keep tables clean.will go to MC Donald's next time.

Typical Starbucks but with outdoor seating in the Hayes. Service good and seating comfortable, can't fault it.

Three ladies wanting a sit down and a refreshing drink, whilst on a shopping trip.cafe was not packed to the rafters so staff should not have been that stressed out &stretched; that they couldn't clear the tables and pick rubbish up off floor. Hardly any cleared tables to choose from, majority had clutter from previous customers. One of my party went to the toilet whilst I queued to buy beverages. My time in the queue was acceptable but barista making drinks didn't follow my request written on cup, I ended up with NO ice instead of less ice. The toilet was in a disgusting state so I mentioned it to the baristas whilst collecting the drinks at end. She said she would sort it- 3/4 hour later when the rest of my group visited the toilet it had not been rectified. I've visited much cleaner tidier Starbucks.

Can't really go wrong with Starbucks and they made my favourite drink, Chai Tea Latte well. Notes from a wheelchair: Ample space to manoeuvre inside. Counter too high so rather hard to order beverages independently. Didn't need to use loo so can't comment.

Stopped while shopping at St David's and had a nice coffee and cookie to help us gather energy for more shopping.

I love the caramel macchiato in Starbucks, I've had many and will have more! This was just a quick visit for takeaway while out shopping. Our order was taken quickly and drinks arrived quickly. Fresh and hot. Very nice.

Whenever we go in there we always end up taking coffee out. The tables are always full of previous customer as if the emphasis is on getting the coffee served rather than the overall experience. disappointing.

I bought two christmas coffees and throughout my order the barista spoke to other colleagues reguarding what she was going to wear the christmas party. She spoke over my order the first time and had to ask me to repeat. Then when I asked if skinny was available in the coffee she replied with 'no soz'. That is not the correct way to speak to a customer

There excuse for everything they do incorrect is 'we're a franchise'. The Christmas drinks are very disappointing, nothing is the same as I've had in every other costa.(bristol, other Cardiff stores and Merthyr) my Black Forest hot chocolate was plain with no syrup or flavour, cream but no sauce. The worst thing is you cannot get extra sauce out of the staff because their reply is 'we're a franchise' I assume they mean they are different to every other store but this seems unlikely to me. Won't come again

Obviously it was match day so it was ram packed. Waited 15 minutes for my drinks but that's about what I expected. There were only 3 members of staff that were out front, which surprised me due to how busy it was. The festive drinks were lush. Extra bonus was I was able to charge my phone too.

Our hotel was nearby this location so it was an obvious choice when I needed a quick bite to eat, having tried their sandwiches in several different countries. However, was most disappointed when early in the evening found their sandwich selection almost non-existent and so was forced to go elsewhere, never to return.

Never visited a Starbucks before this year but I'm so glad I did. The coffee is the best I've tasted but I'm ashamed to say I have become an avid fan of the Caramel Coffee, Caramel Cream and Strawberry and Cream Frappaccinos, I refuse to go to Cardiff now without visiting Starbucks to have one of these to drink on the way home. Staff are very friendly and polite. A pleasure to visit here

I am a tea person and my wife a coffee person. Starbucks works perfectly for our needs.

Have to say that the staff here are incredibly friendly, courteous and patient when you don't really know what you're going to eat or drink. Very well located in the heart of some of the trendiest shops I usually choose this starbucks over the others in the city.

Going for a coffee but put off by the mess outside Cigarette ends all over the place the area around could not have been cleaned since they opened. It would help is they tried putting ashtrays on the tables. The glass in the door and windows were dirty.

I go here regularly sometimes I stay in to drink my coffee with a snack, or I get my large coffee take it and drink it on my way to work, staff is friendly and fast

As always good Starbucks coffee and a light and airy place to sit and chat. The staff were friendly and the filter coffee was on offer for a £1, what a bargain!

Call in here usually on a trip to Cardiff, there isn't much to say really it's just another Starbucks. Could be a bit cleaner though, tables need clearing a little quicker.

I visit this branch pretty much everyday I am at work and each member of staff is as friendly, competent and efficient as the next. They always get my order correct, they are always speedy despite me often going in at peak lunch hours. There are always spaces to sit and they always do the best they can to keep a very large and busy branch clean and tidy.

This used to be a nice Starbucks, but has gone down hill, the outside seating looks scruffy and the inside of the store is dirty. Tables not cleared and customer service poor. We will not be going in gain.

It was late on a Sunday evening and I went into Starbucks for a cup of tea, the Ginger haired barista by the name of Holly was incredibly rude. Not only was she disrespectful but she didn't place the lid correctly on my take out tea so when I picked it up the boiling hot contents spilled all over my hand, now I'm aware we all make mistakes but She didn't even apologies or offer any assistance despite the fact I was clearly in pain, I had to apply my own medical attention and she was even disgruntled at the fact she had to re make my drink. Incredibly rude.

I dont normally bother to visit chain coffee shops (sometimes Costa isnt too bad) or write reviews on them but this Starbucks experience was so bad i have to.

This has to be the best, as the team are the most friendly I've ever encountered at any Starbucks in the UK!

After a day of shopping the kids and I needed a pit stop. We were close to Starbucks so ambled in for a drink and a cake. The service at the counter was quick and friendly. Unfortunately the cleanliness was disappointing particularly in the toilets. The disabled toilet was dirty, it clearly hasn't been cleaned recently. And the baby changing table was also stained and dirty. The ladies wasn't much better with a thick layer of dust on top of the cistern, but there was toilet roll. I understand that it must be a busy unit and I'm not a clean freak, but more attention needs to be paid to cleaning. Such a shame.

Staff are very helpful and attentive. Always happy to visit here, even though there are several Starbucks in the vicinity, this store is by far my favourite

Current Spiced Pumpkin Latte is the best and this franchise is very clean and the staff are polite, efficient and friendly. Seating is comfortable and patrons were not hastened to leave..

Popped in for a short break whilst visiting Cardiff at a conference. Service efficient, staff pleasant and surroundings ok (although the armchairs were showing signs of wear and tear). All in all', up to expected corporate standards and would recommend.

A busy coffee shop in a good location. A good selection of hot and cold food or drinks available. I had a toasted sandwich, very good. The wait for food was minimal . Quite impressive considering tho busy it was. do not be put off if you see a queue as it moves very quickly.

Friendly Staff, not too busy in the mornings, wasn't left waiting/queuing for ages as usually can be in Starbucks. Only complaint is it is a bit expensive, as is every other Starbucks.

Friendly and quick and perfectly located to take for on the train home. You know what you are getting from starbucks so there is little surprise. They always get my order spot on, would certainly go back.

Always good to get exactly what you expect. Very friendly service and even 25p off for trying a small cup of their hot chocolate. Food expensive as ever. Coffee of the day is strong, bold as ever. Hot chocolate to die for.

Of all the Starbucks in Cardiff centre, I always come to this one as it is quieter and the staff are more friendly. I've popped in before for early breakfast when I was in Cardiff waiting for my car to be serviced and it was great. This time we called in at 7pm on a Friday evening for coffee and a cake.

Popped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning. It opens at 8, and we were almost the first customers in the door. Tables were dirtly. Toilets were uncleaned, and smelly. Staff were trying their best but really poor quality for a Starbucks...would not go there again.

Stoppedc here on way back to station, asked for a filter coffee, and because eteh filter machine was at the end of its cycle was offered a seat while I waited. Good customer service.

A very busy coffee shop that's always packed ...ideally situated , great variety , you will have difficulty getting a seat in the busy times

It's coffee. More specifically, it's Starbucks' coffee. It's basically exactly the same as every other Starbucks you will go to. You'll never be able to use the bathroom, you'll hardly ever get a seat outside and the service is alright as long as it isn't busy. Okay job, guys.

Always busy but the staff are on the ball and a re very friendly. They always have a good range of cakes and savoury food.

A typical Starbucks coffee shop which gets very busy. There was quite a long queue on our visit, and it took ten minutes to get our order. There was only one table available (actually two which we joined together for four of us). Tables are chipped around the edges, and there are ugly stains on the surface from hot liquid mugs and cups. You cannot say it is dirty: it just looks in need of freshening up the decor and some new tables. Acceptable coffee and choice of snacks.

Called in on for a quick cuppa and a bacon bap this morning and there was a queue which did move quite quickly, i had the peppermint tea for a change, it was ok. We managed to get a table but had to move the cups and plates from a previous customer. Staff were friendly and helpful. The seats are always comfy and i enjoyed my bacon bap!

The drinks we got were nice but the service was very slow leaving us waiting for over 5 mins for two hot chocolates. Finding a table was an effort as was finding one with enough clean space for our mugs. I appreciate it is a city centre store and busy but maybe a few more staff are needed to cope with the demand :-)

We visited here on a wekday and it was very busy, but they had ample seating. The only drawbak is that there was not enough staff to cater for the customers and we had to wait a long time to get served but when we did the staff were very polite and friendly.

Theres always poor standards in this Starbucks.Tables left dirty ,still full of other customers cups and rubbish.N0 attention to the overall cleanliness.Serving counter an absolute shambles.Needs a mature manager with some old fashioned discipline,which we seem to have lost in this country.

Standard decor Starbucks but nice and spacious. The sofas at the back are very comfy. Bit of advice. The staff will 'encourage' you to buy medium drinks. i.e. They'll ask, 'medium' when you order.

Just like back home, except in a foreign country with a slightly different accent. We can get the same drinks and pastries that we love at home.

I have visited this branch of Starbucks on many occasions. The venue is always packed (given it's prime location in the middle of the shopping mall) and the staff are always very friendly.

Standard starbucks - and I'm not really a 'bucks fan - but the staff here are lovely. I only come because I get smiles and giggles everytime.

The usual fare but reliable, you know what you`re getting! Good view over the street. The opposite direction from the old David Morgan restaurant view from which I enjoyed people watching.

It's a Starbucks - not the devils haunt. The staff were well trained by their manager, delivered what I expected but I would have liked to had the chance of more independent coffee shops on the main strip.

I never did like Starbucks coffee because it's weak and expensive. Now I know they don't pay their taxes I don't go at all and hope others will walk with their feet until this tax dodger coughs up like the rest of us.

Always head straight to Starbucks whenever I visit the city. It's convenient for the centre being right by St David's retail complex. Even though I'm not a daily or weekly visitor by any means, the staff here always remember my order in exact detail

This was my first visit to a Starbucks. My wife paid, therefore I can't comment on the price!

Youngsters think this place is cool it is ok and that is it.

We live near this starbucks and this was not our only visit, no matter how busy they are the staff always serve you with a smile and never panic. There is free Wi Fi and plenty of seating. The coffee is always nice and hot, nice for a break when shopping.
