Very greasy food - very…… extremely expensive. 3 breakfasts and two teas £47.95!!!!! Girl on the till was lovely. Eleanor they call her. So pretty and sweet them the “supervisor” trunchball attitude - not very friendly at all. There was no smiles or good morning, nothing… Front of house lady very pleasant and actually listened to what we had to say. Please listen to customers. Not everyone likes Lincolnshire sausage and not everyone likes greasy mushrooms … to be advised if you don’t like it leave it!!!! An option would have been nice…. Please staff, be kind to your customers. Takes a long time to build up a business and very short time for it to be ruined. Thank you for the offer of a cake to take away as this was a birthday breakfast for my son. Very sweet of you …. Appreciate your time and listening. Hopefully kitchen staff will take notice too.

Visited here with my family this week, we ordered two pots of tea and a black coffee. When it arrived it was debatable if the cups and saucers had been washed and the tea pots were stained beyond belief. Surely this establishment has a dishwasher? The crockery had definitely not seen a dishwasher in a while and looked as though it just been rinsed under the tap. Considering the prices I won’t be visiting again

Menu change - for the worse! Restaurants need customers to be satisfied, they will then spend more, return more, give positive reviews and recommend to family and friends. Unfortunately the menu change will decrease the chances of that happening and begin to affect the profit! By not understanding that customers have many different preferences, the new menu does not consider how valuable choice is. The new menu is basically ‘like it or leave it’. Young families and older people, who might not want a full breakfast plate or even a smaller breakfast plate, can’t order scrambled egg or a sausage or beans on toast. God forbid you want a poached egg instead of a fried egg on the breakfast. The posters near the till share that the menu items have been costed and portioned therefore swaps and extras are not available. I query this because if every item is costed properly, what is the difference between a poached egg and a fried egg - it is perhaps the chef deciding what he is going to cook and what he isn’t?! The staff have clearly been getting it in the neck from customers about the menu changes, hence the posters but the restaurant should realise the feedback is valid! As a weekly customer, I didn’t mind paying the cost of my breakfast as it was cooked how I like, with an extra on top. If I can’t have what I like, cooked how I like, I can’t justify the cost! The food for the breakfast (apart from the sausages) is brought in by a catering truck (the same as every other pub/cafe), not organic, not from local producers (all local beef, pork, chicken farms available), not supporting the local grocers in Barton therefore it doesn’t have anything special enough to warrant the cost. A shining light for the restaurant is definitely the wonderful waiting staff - they go above and beyond for customers. We won’t be returning on a weekly basis therefore the shop, garden centre and walk round the other units will miss out on us spending too!

Wow this place is a little gem.... You can spend many hours having a wander around the garden centre then stop off for lunch..... Well Lunch was to die for ... We opted for the Ploughman's for 2,it was £19.99 but can't fault nothing about it.....worth every penny..... The service was quick and friendly. If you don't want a sit down meal or go indoors, there is a outdoor trailer that serves drinks and sweet items.... Also a few shops around the back. We only live 20minutes away and why we have never visited this lovely place is a mystery.

A wonderful place to spend an afternoon! Really excellent food prepared by skilled chefs, a friendly and attentive waiting staff that really can't do enough for you and pretty well priced for the quality on ooffer.theyve recently undergone a menu shake-up, and have lost one or two of my favourites but it's nice to try new things as well. I understand that the menu swaps were getting out of hand, so the kitchen has had to get a little tough on it - it isn't going to please everyone, but I see the logic. It can be VERY busy, and sometimes noisy because of that. The restaurant is both child- and pet-friendly, and there is outside seating overlooking a pond, so if you're sensitive to noise perhaps choose a warm day and sit outside!

Everything tasted moorish and only wished we had room for dessert but was so full A special thanks to Jo, you were welcoming and friendly, just the right level of excellent customer service. We visited on a Sunday and waited for Sunday lunch. We wasn’t allowed to order before 11.45 to start with and then told the chef wouldn’t allow orders till 12. He must have been in a bad mood because of the number of times he was hammering the bell for the staff to take the orders. The situation made us feel stressed which was a shame. On our trip to Barton upon Humber yesterday, we visited The Old Tile Works restaurant again and this time I took an internal view, don't let the lack of customers put you off, it was around 15.30 and around lunchtime until around 15.00, it is always packed. Great staff, great coffee, fantastic cakes (we had Raspberry Roulade) and delicious meals, all reasonably priced 😊. There is a beautiful lake and outside seating area with Swans and Waterfowl, for when the weather is warmer. Coming South across the Humber Bridge, the whole Tile Works is visible on the right and in addition to the restaurant, it has a garden centre and various Artisan shops at the back of the restaurant, plus an impressive view of the Humber Bridge. Highly recommended 👍

Walked here today from a neighbouring village where we live. (8 mile round trip walk) We had checked they were dog friendly as we planned to have a decent rest stop here before the walk home. Got there and were greeted by a blackboard of rules for dogs. Not exactly welcoming and certainly not what I’d call dog friendly. I understand some aspects , such as not allowing dogs up on furniture and not letting them eat from the crockery. But I struggle to call the list of “doggy dos & donts” as being friendly. Perhaps they ought to re label themselves as ‘dogs tolerated’. We ended up sat outside as the staff member I spoke to about where to sit wasn’t keen on us being inside and actually suggested outside…. It was 6c and damp. Our tea and coffee were cold within 5 mins and the seats were damp and cold (given the weather itself was damp and cold ….) We had to ask twice for a bowl of water for the dogs and eventually went to find one ourselves. We would have ordered food but didn’t feel at all welcome with the dogs and were too cold to sit outside for more than 15 mins. Dog friendly is where dogs are acknowledged by staff, facilities cater for the dogs and you’re not made to feel like an inconvenience for having a dog with you. Lessons could be learned from truly dog friendly establishments like the Nelthorpe Arms in South Ferriby or Uncle Henry’s Farm shop.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

I visited today with my Aunt. I ordered the pie lamb and mint, my Aunt wanted a salad with grilled chicken and no dressing. She came to the till to place her order and was quite specific in her requirements. Grilled chicken and salad. No dressing. Both meals were about £15.00 each. When our food arrived I couldn’t help but feel disappointed. I’m not certain if the pies were home cooked, but they didn’t look or taste like it. They resembled the cheap round pies you get in the freezer shops. The chips were frozen chips very anaemic and some were still hard, the gravy lumpy and tasteless. But it was edible and I was hungry. This alone would not give me cause to complain. However My Aunts salad was shocking. Just a plate of lettuce, dozens of croutons and about a small breast of chopped up grilled chicken. She complained, where was the tomatoes, cucumbers onions, why was there croutons and tons of them. It was not what she had ordered and she wanted a refund. She informed the staff who all are quite young (and lovely, no fault with them) Then I assume what was the manager, came out. She came to our table and began to argue with us about what we had ordered. She could not get her head around us asking for a grilled chicken and salad. Insisting that’s not what we had asked for? she wasn’t even there at the time of ordering, and at this point hadn’t even spoken to the member of staff who took our order (we pointed her out to her). . She then started telling us we had ordered a ceaser salad. At no point had anyone mentioned a ceaser salad, not even the girl on the till. We again informed her we had ordered grilled chicken and salad, she then stared reeling off all the grilled chicken dishes telling us we couldn’t have ordered it, because they didn’t do it! This made no sense, if you can grill a chicken, and have all the ingredients for a salad, changing a ceaser salad to grilled chicken and salad is unbelievably simple. At this point feeling we was getting nowhere with the argumentative and unmovable manager my auntie said if you don’t do it, why did she take my order for it and have me pay for it? Why not just say we don’t do it and I’d have ordered something different. She couldn’t argue with that. To us it was very simple, the young girl on the till had put our order down as a ceaser salad, without the dressing. A very simple error on her part. The manager begrudgingly sent the money back and took the bread and lettuce back. However I then had to sit and eat my now cold lunch whilst the staff were talking and staring at us. My Aunt went without! What a shocking way to treat your customers. Tbh we did stay a good hour chatting after to make a point. I cannot say all the food is not value for money here, as I have eaten here before, as has my Auntie and we both had a lovely meal. The place is lovely and the views are stunning. Today however sadly both the food and service was poor, it has put me off returning. I prefer home cooked food, fresh potato chips.

This was my first time at this restaurant. We stopped by for lunch after a walk around the nearby nature reserve. I was a little disappointed at the vegetarian options, because although they do have a lot of vegi choices, the vast majority of them feature halloumi, which I don’t like. I went for the Mediterranean jacket potato, which was really nice and has feta cheese instead, and I’ll definitely have that again if I return. There is a good range of options for meat eaters and vegetarians who like halloumi, but very little for vegans. The restaurant itself is very nicely laid out with a large outdoor area, which was lovely on a warm day. The service was quick and polite, the food was delicious. The restaurant is dog friendly.

Never been here before but we are from Norfolk but neither had my brother who lives in barton. It was past breakfast but not quite lunch and we had a long drive back to Norfolk so decided upon crushed avocado with egg and vine tomato. My wife asked for bacon on toast with one egg. The menu said two eggs. We both need our coffee so went for the flat white and made the point that we like it hot. Have to say the venue was clean, smart, welcoming. The member of staff was efficient taking the orders and the service was quick and efficient. However when my wife's plate arrived it had not one egg as requested but two. Why? My crushed avocado was on two slices of sourdough which is ok but also two eggs and 14, yes people, 14 tomatoes. Now come on please. Who on earth is going to eat 14 tomatoes. (See picture) I think the serving sizes are done to justify the prices but we find it off putting. However having said that if we go again we know to order one plate and share but this of course means the restaurant loses money as if they just cut the serving size and charged £2 less we would perhaps not need to share. The coffee was hot as requested and one of the best flat whites we have had in a while. The waitress cleared the table but never enquired if everything was ok even though she could see I had left one slice of sourdough with avocado and many tomatoes. She lost the opportunity to gain valuable immediate feedback. We would go again as the cakes we saw in the cabinet looked yummy and reasonably priced and of course for another wonderful coffee but unless we shared we would not eat cooked food as overpriced simply to serve oversize servings that in these days is out of place for many.

Beautifully cooked fish, wonderful chips, tasty mushy peas. We have been to Carvers a few times now, and every time the food is cooked perfectly. The staff are friendly and helpful. Fridays are usually very busy, but it is worth the wait.

I was staying in the Premier Inn and bought the meal deal at The Anchor. Having dined here on several occasions the service is always amazing both at dinner and breakfast. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Stu, Josh, Sky and the rest of the team are amazing and make your dining experience great. The food is always lovely.

Went for a celebratory birthday meal to the Sheffield Arms which had come highly recommended. We weren't disappointed. It was the best 'pub' meal I've had in years. Two had meals from the menu and two of us had the wonderful all you can eat carvery. Everyone enjoyed their meals (lasagne and Yorkshire Pudding wrap) but the carvery was exceptional. Great choice of vegetables, meats, sausages and the most gorgeous baby potatoes. The staff were great, very cheerful and friendly and the puddings were delicious too. I understand that the Sunday carvery has even more choice. We paid £9.95 for the carvery - brilliant value. The pub is beautifully decorated; of course it was busy but the service was excellent. It still retains a local feel but definitely book if you want a meal. Thank you!!!!
