Had lunch here at 12:00 on a Tuesday. Interesting menu. The french onion soup was outstanding and teh fish pancake was delicious - something I never had before. They do classic stuff here like steaks, pies and burgers but the little twists on the menu are refreshing. Food was high quality, very easy. Beers on pump were Timothy Taylors and Theakston's best. Staff were wonderfully kind. Will be coming back.

Mal servicio aquí y no volveré

Sat here in the restaurant having lovely food but it’s so loud I cannot speak to my partner as it’s so noisy plus we have a screaming child on the next table (it would also be noisy without the child). Have eaten here before but always in the bar but would certainly not sit in the restaurant again as it spoilt the lunch

Went in for a drink as a family including my elderly Mum, we will never darken the doors again. There was a middle aged male behind the bar, who did nothing but swear loudly, one elderly male was clearly upset by it, this man said to him if you don't like it you can 'f... off', he was clearly the Landlord because nothing else was said to him, I got the distinct impression no one dare say anything, obviously the norm in that establishment, he regularly using the F word. So if you like foul language, aggressiveness this is your place. Don't take your Mum.

We have driven along the A59, as you will have, and passed brown sign after brown sign this pub and that pub. Checking trip advisor before we set off from Otley to York we booked a table at the Tiger and took a punt. Well it was worth it. The food was excellent, tasty, hot and good portions. Family of five ate all the food presented to them and the final bill represented great value. Recommended by us!

Every time I come here I'm impressed! This time we came with friends for a friends 40th. Atmosphere was great, food was spot on! Only reason for 4stars was the service.... unenthusiastic staff and we felt slightly rushed. But we still had an enjoyable time!

We called in for dinner before going on to a show. We chose from the Early Bird menu - priced £12.95 for two courses. Five out of the 12 dishes had supplements of amounts up to £3.50! We chose the potato shallot and black pepper hash brown with poached egg and holandaise. The whole dish was swimming in the holandaise sauce and it was greasy. As for the hot seafood pancake, it was hot alright, sizzling round the edges, the pancake itself had broken into a floating mess. It contained one prawn (both my partner and I had to search for this. The rest was some white fish and the rest spinach. To top it all the waitress could not raise as much as a smile, never mind ask us if everything was OK! Which clearly it wasn't - obvious by the amount we both left on our plates. A very disappointing experience.

Having spent the morning in Harrogate we decided to try one of our favourite restaurants for a late Sunday lunch on the way home, the Tiger is signed on the main road in to Karesborough / Harrogate from the A1, parking is not a problem but would suggest if you want to be sure of a table you should book.As there were only 2 of us we did get a table, the waitresses were very attentive and besides the Sunday lunch menu which provided a lot of options there was also the specials board which had a couple of specials on.We had a bottle of Sharaz to go with our meal and we had mains only, I opted for the homemade steak and ale pie that came with chips and veg and lashings of beef gravy, my wife opted for the seabass filets but changed the risotto for roast potatoes and veg. Glad we didn't have a starter and had no room for a desert but very timely even though they were obviously very busy and well prepared food, the Sunday roasts also looked very good as well.Cost us £44, but that was pushed to this level as the wine we selected was £18, was a reasonably priced meal they serve food all day so what ever time you are already pop in..

We live fairly locally and the Tiger is always a favourite. The staff are always, without question, friendly and really welcoming. We often turn up a quarter of an hour before service finishes and there is never a problem if we want a meal. Since they serve food all day, at the end of a shift you would think the welcome would wear thin but no way, all the staff are brilliant. The food is just as good. Always a good selection with a few extra specials on the board. All sensibly priced, good quality and excellent quantity. Really, the Tiger is all you want in a friendly village pub that serves good quality, reasonably priced food.

This is the second time we have been over the past two months. It was one of those evenings when you can not decide what to have for dinner. The early bird menu is good value for the standard of food and excellent customer service. £12.50 is a great price for 2 courses. Wife had garlic mushrooms followed by steak and ale pie with hand cut chips. I head an amazing starter of ham hock croquettes with black pudding followed by steak with chips and pepper corn sauce with a £5.00 supplement. Not a chance of fitting a desert in so make your choice wisely.

Keep this short and sweet. Been to every pub in York the last year looking for consistent repeated excellent standards of quality in a lunch. This is the only place that consistently and 100% of the time has not failed to deliver an excellent lunch. When you dine out once or twice a week ... It shouldn't be a gamble whether your meal is good. This place is incredible ... Food value quality and service. Roll on next Sunday. See attached pictures if in doubt ;)

visited here with family and friends for daughter in law birthday. Excellent food especially the sunday roast. The set menu prices are very good value. Service was superb, what was apparent, although at the time of arrival it did not appear too busy there were plenty of staff on hand to cope more than adequately. We were a party of eight, staff aware of our booking and sat us promptly and efficiently. Service also was very efficient, the menu fully explained and all done with a smile from all the staff who looked after us. Have been here once before and would certainly come again, well done

We have been on a number of occasions, booking recommended. The food has always been excellent. A wide choice is usually available. Today being New Year Day, there was a set 2/3 course menu, and choice was very good. I had Chicken Pate, and a succulent Home made Beef Pie, my wife selected Spicy King Prawns and Sea Bass. The food was beautifully cooked.Service is always attentive, with friendly staff always available. Speed of service was just right. The only disappointment was that there were no sweet wine available by the glass i.e. German or Rose, not everyone wants a bottle. This venue is highly recommended for a casual friendly dining experience.

This is a lovely pub and in a lovely location... my grandparents used to live In the lovely white tumble-down kind of cottage on the green and I have many a happy memory of sitting outside of the Tiger in the 70s sipping lemonade and chomping salt n vinegar crisps (have photos as proof!) I've been there for a meal since then and the food and service were both fab, I reckon my granddad might balk a bit at some of the more adventurous foody bits though...but I love this place... and the special location !!

A fabulous country pub with a modern design. Visited twice and both times everything has been spot on. First visit we all had steak which was cooked to perfection with lots of accompaniments and wasn't badly priced either. Visited again with a friend after seeing the early bird menu which is super! £11.95 for 2 courses till 6:30pm during the week and 6pm on Saturdays which is a extra bonus! It's great value for money as many course are around £12/£13 anyway. They also put a wide selection of dishes on it, not just the cheap ones of the menu! The seafood pancake was amazing! Whilst travelling down the A1M it is now difficult to find a decent pub for a meal, so we decided to exit at J47 & try our luck, knowing the area a little. We chanced upon the sign for the Tiger Inn & were very glad that we did! It's a few miles off the A59 (direction Knaresborough) but worth the well-signed, ride.We all 3 had different meals & all were excellent: generous portions, beautifully presented & delicious, good quality ingredients. We didn't use it, but there are 2 & 3 course meal deals, very reasonably priced. The pub has an old world charm about it, especially with the roaring fire.Definitely one to recommend, and should we be in the area again, one to return to!

I've been eating here for about four years I think. The location is good, on a village green. The interior is nicely furnished and gives a clean feel about the place. Service is generally good, although when my wife and I went last night our bottle of bubbly was a bit slow coming, but never mind. We ate from the 2 courses for £11.95 menu, and had fish cake, and pate as our starters, followed by steak (supplement applies), and belly pork with mash and veggie. We have not had a bad bit of food in all the times we have eaten here. The owners have several other eateries in and around Harrogate, which we have not tried, but each seems to have its own individual identity,It is nice to find a pub that does food that does not serve up everything with a big plate of chips. The Tiger Inn is on our (very) short list of places where we know we always get good service, good value and great food every time.

We went here for a celebratory birthday meal in May 2012. At least two separate sets of people had recommended it, particularly its early bird deal. We arrived after that at about 7.30, so couldn't use that. The early bird was something like 2 course for £12, which is excellent as many of the main courses were priced around £11-£12.Service was brusque and bordering on rude. It seemed as though they had hoped to be finished early as all the early birders were beginning to leave. A half-bottle of white wine was promoted on an insert in the menu - a spumante which sounded perfect for a glass of sparkling wine each (partner driving). It arrived, was opened and left on the table. We poured it and it was still, not sparkling. Checked the label and it was the same wine as advertised - just the description on the insert which was incorrect. Couldn't see any staff around for the next 10 mins, and by then my partner made me promise not to say anything as he hates complaining. I don't really like complaining much either, so agreed.Food: starters of goujons were greasy and hard to find fish amongst the coating - definitely bought in rather than home-made, too. My main was roast aubergine with italian-style i.e. tomato-ey stuffing. It was presented in a bowl of what looked and tasted like mushroom soup - a very odd pairing. My partner's steak was not great quality either. All in all the food wasn't great, the service was brusque, and the wine was not as described. I sent an email about the wine the next day, and never got a reply. Value for money would probably have been fine if we'd paid the early bird price, which is clearly where they like to get most of their business. The village setting is very pretty, and I can imagine that eating outside on a summer evening would be lovely. Shame about the food.

A very warm greeting was received, and a help with the menu, the Game pie was excellent with real chips. My partner also had an excellent main course. The deserts were equally fantastic, Black forest gateaux and the crumble with home made custard. Reasonably priced, great atmosphere, great pub.
