Gemma and her team from Tiffins of Petworth provided the catering for my mum's 8oth birthday party in the garden. I could not be happier with the service they provided. The food was superb, delicious and beautifully presented, they were relaxed, friendly and well organised and the whole service was reasonably priced. They went to so much effort to make everything as easy and stress free for us and really were a highlight of the day. They exceeded our expectations and I highly recommend them. The Cafe is also lovely and has the same level of care, service and delicious food. A real asset to Petworth.

This is a fabulous little place and I highly recommend it. The staff were so lovely and went above and beyond for us, especially as it was late in the day. The pizzas were amazing and all the cakes looked brilliant - I really wanted to try the carrot cake but ended up taking half my pizza home as I was so full. Really nice to have a good veggie selection and some more interesting soft drinks. Top marks!

90% of retail outlets in Petworth are Antique Shops. Oh and there is a fine Real Tennis Court. But after visiting Newlands House Gallery (see separate review) we came upon this tiny cafe. A timely arrival gave us the window seat. Young, enthusiastic staff. Think better control of the finances is in order. Not until we were driving home did it occur to us that £17.60 was not enough for 3 Sausage Sandwiches and 3 Drinks! Whoops. I wonder how the other guests felt when presented with our bill. Never mind, the Sausage Sandwiches were delicious albeit one arrived on White, not Granary Bread. And whilst my wife's Teapot contained real, loose, Tea it was a lot better once the boiling water had been added! Do seek it out. Hayling Seagoon

We like to support independent, local businesses whenever possible and were excited to chance upon Tiffins on a dreary wet day. We were greeted warmly and our orders prompt taken. Portions are huge and the food tasty. Unfortunately our experience was somewhat marred by a particularly over enthusiastic member of staff, card machine in hand, handing us our bill and asking us to pay whilst we were in the middle of eating. Sadly this happened not once, nor twice but three times in the space of 20 minutes! This we thought odd given no one else was getting their bill midway through their meals (everyone was going up to the counter to pay when preparing to leave); and we hadn’t been seated for an inordinate amount of time given other tables had been dining for longer than us. At the third demand for payment we finally asked why we were being treated differently: the staffer said they thought we’d asked for the bill. An easy mistake perhaps, but we’re not sure how this could have arisen given (a) we had not spoken a single word to this individual let alone asked for our bill, and (b) as the only ethnic minorities present the whole time we were there, it would not be easy to confuse us with another table in a room of 10 or so that was half full at the time. Curious… We really wanted to like Tiffins Tea Rooms in Petworth but we ended up having a poor experience. Rated two stars instead of one because of the food and initial customer service, and for the apology we got from another member of staff when they caught wind of our dissatisfaction. Having settled our bill in full at the end of our meal we left Tiffins in a mood more sullen and grey than the rainy weather that day. Such a shame.

There are perils to popularity, which have apparently not been well addressed here. Too many chairs and tables have been packed into the available space, which contributed to a large number of people making it an unhealthily fuggy room. I had considerable difficulty sitting down because there was so little room between the tables. We had to wait 10-15 minutes to receive our simple order of coffees and an uncut cake. Meanwhile the customer who had been behind us wanting takeaway coffees was served almost immediately, despite presumably paying less. We finally had to ask if our coffees were coming. When they did come (soon afterwards), the mugs were much too large and the delayed timing meant that we did not have time for me to drink more than half of mine. I cannot remember posting a three-star rating in over 50 posts on Tripadvisor, but I am doing so here because I hope that some improvements will be made for future customers in this clearly popular tea shop.

We regularly go to The Tiffin Tearooms for a full English brekkie before cycling around the area. It is always delicious and the atmosphere in the cafe is friendly, warm and cosy. The staff are efficient and friendly. One slight criticism is that the plates are cold and the breakfast cools down quite quickly but this is only a slight criticism!!!

We couldn't beleive our two sandwiches and two bottles of water came to £18! We ordered the food to takeaway and so assumed it would come with crisps as advertised and possibly a salad or something else considering the bill. We had already left petworth before we looked inside the bag of our £18 purchase to find the two sandwiches and nothing else! Completely overpriced.

Out doing some street photography today in petworth and learning my new lens and camera setup, today was quite warm so thought it a good idea to find a bite to eat at the end of my battery. Spotted the sign as I came out by the church and had a wander up to see what's what Clean tidy entrance and welcomed by the lovely ladies behind the counter with what was available today to eat. We sat down after our orders were done on nice clean tables and padded chairs. Nice to take the weight off after today's walk round My 3x stack sandwich arrived super fast, half way through eating mine I saw a older gent was a veteran jumper and hat on, said to my wife what was plans were and she nodded On paying for my bill I had typed a message on my phone to show the girls it said Thanks for today, I would like to pay for the veteran behind me shhhhhh I shows the girl the message and a big smile came over her face and she said thankyou!! 😊 Pattted the guy on the shoulder and said "I have paid for your meal today THANK YOU for your service!" The nice lady he was sitting with was shocked and in the same way very happy You have to look after the people that keep us safe If you are in petworth pop in here, nice staff, food is well priced and could not ask for more

Loved the cafe but allowing DOGS inside, I don't get it. A dog on the table behind our table actually licked my hand when it's owner wasn't holding it. GROSS ... surely places selling food shouldn't allow animals though the cafe clearly welcomes them as there is a notice on the door. Won't be back sadly.

Although it was Mother's day and extremely busy, our party of 7 hungry walkers and a border collie were warmly welcomed and royally fed. A special thank you for the very generously-sized cakes. The gluten free cherry bakewell cake, bread pudding, and fruit scones were absolutely delicious. Our youngest family member is now tucking into the rest of his mini egg chocolate cake for tea. Headed here for lunch whilst having a winter wander around Petworth. Lucky to get a table as it's only small and we saw quite a few people look in and realise np more tables after we sat down. I'd seen a review raving about the chilli cheese toast with fried eggs and we were tempted (looked good going to other tables) but ended up choosing a tuna cheese toasted sarnie which came with a cup of salted crisps, and hubby opted for a big 3 tier sarnie of sausage bacon and eggs. Bread was chunky and we were happy with our choices. Hubby enjoyed a pot of loose leaf tea and I had a lovely bottle of a plum and cherry drink. £21 for the 2 of us. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.

We intended to stop for coffee and cake on return from the south coast. However, after reading a couple of reviews on trip advisor and reading the menu, we opted for something more substantial, the ploughmans and the Sussex Rarebit. Our drinks arrived very promptly, loose leaf tea served in vintage china and a large frothy cappuccino with real chocolate flakes on top. Very soon, our meals arrived and I have to say that the rarebit was the best I have ever tasted and at just over £8.00 was excellent value for money. My hubby's ploughmans was also very generous with 2 wedges of cheese, thick ham, pickles and two bread rolls. Service was very friendly and prompt. The tea room was packed when we entered and we could see why. The food is excellent and we will definitely come back.Parking in Petworth is slightly tricky as the roads are so narrow. There is kerbside parking and a very small market square, all free for up to one hour. However, we chose to park in the Town Centre pay and display parking and at just 50p for 2 hours offered excellent value for money.

We had lunch booked in nearby Tillington, so all we wanted from a brief pit-stop in Petworth was a cosy place for 15 minutes, and a coffee and hot chocolate. Our first attempt wasn't very successful. At 12:15, The Hungry Guest cafe wouldn't let us perch on a small table for 15 minutes, despite not being anywhere near full. Sorry, you have to eat something. It's a rule. No exceptions.Thank goodness they turned us away. The welcome at Tiffins couldn't have been any more different. There was an immediate physical and emotional warmth as soon as we opened the door, the cappucino - with cinnamon or chocolate on top, or nothing? - was excellent, and the hot choc was equally rewarding. The lunch - and breakfast menu - was very enticing, and the food coming out of the kitchen smelt and looked fab. We will head back very soon for a longer stay, with food. We won't be going back the The Hungry Guest.

We were on Petworth on a Saturday afternoon having had a walk round the deer park with the dog and antique hunting. We were ready for afternoon coffee and cake but Petworth is surprisingly short of dog-friendly eating places. And we walked past Tiffin twice but it looked full and had no dog friendly sign in the window. So we gave up and wandered further only to see a sign down the road promoting Tiffin's dog friendly credentials. We went back but it was still full so we decided to wait for a table. So glad we did. We got a very friendly welcome. As did the dog. A jar of dog treats was brought over, which was thoughtful. Especially as I'd forgotten to bring any with me that day. Coffee was excellent. My coffee and walnut cake was delicious with a lovely buttercream. And the other half loved his fruit scone as well. Definitely a good place for those with dogs but think of phoning ahead to reserve a table. We would definitely come back and consider a lunch as the food at neighbouring tables looked excellent.

We had an excellent vegetarian breakfast and some delicious bubble and squeak. Tiffins is exactly what a tea room should be.

Busy little tea rooms in the town centre. Great Homemade cakes. I had the coffee and walnut and it was fresh and scrummy.

We were visiting Petworth for the day and wanted some lunch. We were looking around for a good half an hour until we came across Tiffins Tea Room. We decided to have lunch here as it looked welcoming, warm and the food looked lovely. I fell in love with the decor, every table had something different on it!

After getting a soaking in Petworth deer park we headed for Tiffins! The welcome was warm and friendly as usual, we both had a delicious rarebit and then decided to go for a large slice of homemade cake and a pot of tea. Such a pretty tea room with a lovely ambiance and attentive staff. After warming up, we happily headed back out in to the weather. Our dog was very welcome too and enjoyed warming up too ☺️

A delightful treasure, this small tea room offers exquisite, friendly service and everything you'd wish to find on a menu in a tea room. I had a delicious warmed cheese scone with real butter and a large coffee, all served on pretty China. A perfect tranquil stop in a busy day.

Such a lovely little tea room with the best locally blended tea around. My whole family enjoyed what they had... yummy cake, cream scones and chocolate brownies. Oh and the decor is very clever! Perfect place to go if you want the English tea experience!

We dropped by here while exploring Petworth & what a find! Had the best baked potato ever & my partner had a lovely English breakfast. The choice was huge & looked delicious! The home baked cakes looked so good just deciding which one to have is the problem! The staff were super friendly & nothing any trouble. Defo check it out

Very clean. Very friendly. Excellent service. Great menu, high quality, home baked food. Best tea around, so many are weak and insipid. Only problem was trying to finish it all!

Driving west on the A272 we stopped off at Petworth for a break. Found Tiffins tucked up its pleasant street and were welcomed by the very friendly host. Had a wonderful Sussex Rarebit, served with a salad and all freshly prepared to order. We had one regular and one gluten-free, both were excellent and the accompanying coffees were quality as well. They have a varied menu, all thoughtfully created and with a good range of gluten-free and other dietary needs catered for. Will definitely be going back on our trips westward and recommend Tiffins most highly to our friends.

We went to the Potager restaurant last night. It was Locals Night. The menu was imaginative and the food delicious and well presented. The atmosphere and service was dood too. The Locals Night is excellent value and we would highly recommend

My wife’s aunt and cousin enthused about this pub so we decided to have lunch with them on a Thursday in November. The pub is signposted from the main road and is down a narrow lane to Chidham with passing places at intervals. The car park at the back is not so large so many visitors seem to park in the village. Virtually every table was taken which is always a good sign for mid week dining. The four of us had a variety off of dishes and my seafood tagliatelle was delicious. We were very impressed with the speed of service from the two lovely ladies and lively atmosphere of the pub. The portions are quite large so if you have a smaller appetite we would recommend their small portion menu. My wife’s cousin recommended the mussels which were not on the menu the day we visited so we must return to try them. A very enjoyable lunch catching up with old friends too.

Visited here for afternoon tea. Welcome was ok, but then we waited for a while to see if there was a free table. Bizarrely no one else was in the cafe and the upstairs service where we were seated was almost unfriendly and you felt you were in the way. When we asked for a spoon for our tea we were greeted with a huff and puff… Gets good reviews elsewhere, but sadly not from us..
