I used to visit this tea shop many years ago with my dear Mum. It seemed to go down somewhat so this was my first time in a long time. I was pleasantly surprised. I wet yesterday with my friend and again with family today. We all had different snacks… all delicious and obviously homemade. Now, I make an excellent chicken broth but theirs challenged mine! Absolutely to die for. The service by two ladies was first class. Professional and friendly. I would definitely recommend this cafe. Also, small business that I think needs support in these difficult days. Thank you ladies! All was a credit to you

Always a friendly and accommodating welcome. Happy to make any changes or special requests to the menu. In the past I have asked for a vegetarian breakfast which is not on the menu and they created over and above what I have been given in other local cafes. Today we tested them again by asking for omelettes, again not on the menu. We were not disappointed with eggs only omelettes full of mushrooms peppers and onions as ordered with coleslaw and salad on the side. Lovely atmosphere and great wifi if you need it. if you are around Thornton and looking for just a coffee, breakfast, lunch or a naughty bit of cake, I highly recommend Thornton Tea Rooms ideally located on the Marsh Mill Village.

We have probably been stopping here for lunch annually on our way to stays in Blackpool since about 1993 ! We stopped this weekend after a gap of 4 years mainly due to Covid and we had to write a review for the first time as the food and service was the best ever. We had a Stilton, bacon and mushroom toastie and the cheese pie and both were excellent. The service was excellent and so friendly and attentive. The place was heaving and is obviously very popular. Despite this service was quick and professional. Thankyou for a lovely stop on our journey down memory lane! See you next year.

This is a lovely little café. The food was delicious and the ladies that run it were very nice. It was a warm day so we say outside. It's situated in a courtyard called Marsh Mill that itself is very pleasant. The café and courtyard cannot be accessed by car. Park at the Marsh Mill pub or Tesco round the corner. If you can see the windmill you're in the right place.

A lovely cafe with a friendly atmosphere and very helpful staff. Not as vegetarian friendly as you might think by their description but enough to get by. Their cream tea is lovely, the cherry scones are exquisite and their Victoria sponge cake is divine. You won't need tea after eating there. They very kindly cooked a sausage for my dog. I love the mismatched china.

We had called up at Marsh Mill Village. Not much open except the tea room, hurrah! It was my birthday, and i was planning a scone with coffee. When we saw the scones in Tiffins, and they were freshly baked, decided that 10.30 am was not too early. Good call. One of the best scones ever. Forget afternoon tea, scone and butter was just perfect. Coffee with hot milk, and orders to ask for more water or milk if required. thank you ladies, and happy birthday back.

Visited today the lady welcomed us and was lovely along with I think her delightful granddaughter. Then came the very grumpy waitress who needs to go to charm school. Tried to rush us into a ordering even though one of the group had only just sat down. Insisted we had drinks first and by the time we ordered food was nearly cold. The food when it arrived was really nice but spoilt by her surly attitude. A lady also who had ordered cams to see where her order was and had obviously been forgotten and she said well I have to leave now.

My Mother-in-law and I decided to try Tiffin's tea room last week on a gorgeous warm, sunny Thursday afternoon. We took a table outside that was conveniently placed by the front door in part shade/sun which gave us the best of both worlds. We both commented how delightful it was sitting there with a view of the square and how peaceful. The waitress was really lovely and friendly and took our order swiftly. I had the homemade cheese and onion pie. I highly recommend this as it was just delicious!!!! Served with a really fresh salad, coleslaw and crisps. My MIL had tuna sandwiches which were lovely and a pot of tea. She was very impressed that the teapot was one that was a 'really good pourer'. Most important! My americano coffees were lovely. Service was speedy and pleasant. It was such a lovely afternoon and we both said we'd like to make it a regular thing!

Nothing is too much trouble to see that the customer enjoys their meals. How difficult can it be to order: 1 tea, 1 hot chocolate, 1 decaff coffee, 1 large cappuchino, 2 scones and 1 toasted teacake? Normally, not at all but here............After a few minutes the tea, hot chocolate and cappuchino arrived. The waitress had to be reminded that there was another drink to come. Several minues later the decaff coffee arrived (minus the hot milk as stated on the menu). The cappuchino was not a large as ordered but half a small cup so that had to be returned and replaced. When we had almost finished our drinks the scones and teacake arrived. It wasn't as if the place was busy as it was probably only about half full. The food and drink was acceptable but nothing out of the ordinary.Won't return here in a hurry

Having not been too happy on our last visit, and once been regulars we always like to give the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately our recent visit confirmed our worries that the venue is not keeping up standards.I had the 'special' ploughmans lunch, which sounded very nice. For over £5.00 I got a 1/4 of a small pork pie, and a piece of cheese about 1ins long and 1/4 ins square. This came with a small side salad ( two spoonfulls ) a small piece of bread and a few (7 ) crisps. My wife commented on the portion size, but I said nothing, which perhaps I should have done. Coffee was Ok, but a little bitter,. My wife had a soup and sandwich which she said was just OK.This in my view represented very poor value for money, and I doubt if we shall return. I don't know how the owner had the audacity to serve up a portion like this and charge whatthey did !!

Visited here with a 'Dealmonster' voucher, otherwise I would never have known about this place ! So glad I did, as the lunch was excellent - only had soup and sandwich, but really tasty homemade soup of the day - broccolli - it was delicious! Sandwiches were well presented - lovely soft bread with plenty of filling and accompanied with side salad and relish. With a large pot of tea, this was excellent value for money, and even if we hadn't got the 'deal' voucher, Tiffins is a very reasonably priced place to eat. Staff were exceptionally friendly - smiling, pleasant and chatty and pleased to serve you. Situated in the Marsh Mill village, Thornton, right next to the windmill with a few shops, surrounded by a lovely array of summer flowers in pots and baskets. Well recommended, and I would certainly return here - thank you, Tiffins !!

We have been regular visitors over the years but sadly will not be returning. The food on offer today was shocking. The cheese and onion pie was half hot half cold and soggy underneath, the sandwiches were made with bread so dry it must of been 4-5 days old. But the worst was to come. When asked whether the £5.45 'special', a ham and cheese omelette could be had with just cheese and no ham, the reply was 'no sorry thats the way it comes' - so we are talking about a pre-prepared omelette. The alarm bells did ring, but it was what one of our party wanted so we ordered it and when it came it was had shrunk to around 10cms long, dry, and stuck to the plate. AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE. Other problems - its dark and a bit dismal inside, uninspiring selection of clingfilmed cakes, the plates and cutlery did not felt tacky and not 100% clean and the jam for the cream tea is bright red and very cheap. Makes me angry how anyone can present that omelette on our table and think it to be anywhere near acceptable. Evident this place has gone downhill so fast and is fully deserving of my 1 star rating. Terrible.

This venue was always quite pleasant, and when it first opened we were regulars. We do not go as much now. Some commentators have said it is a little dark, but the main issue has been the variability of the food on offer. At times it is very good, but the coffee in particular does not seem as nice as it was. Some of the dishes are fine, but perhaps more attention to detail and service would help. We have not found service to be too slow, or the staff unpleasant.

This cafe, which is at the Marsh Mill Village complex, was quite trendy when it originally opened several years ago but sadly, like the complex itself, it has not moved with the times. I met my friend there the other lunchtime and I must say neither of us will be going back. The place is dark, and dismal inside, it was cold and uninviting and I would have turned round and walked out except for the fact my friend had arrived there before me and had already ordered a coffee. We studied the menu and settled for the best of a selection which left both of us hungry. The cakes were uninspiring and most still cling filmed over in the display unit under the counter. One of the waitresses had a voice which carried and stood at the counter talking to another waitress about the personal business of someone. It was not a great lunchtime out for us ! The only redeeming factor was that the hot chocolate was very good but sadly it is not good enough to entice me back.

We normally come here for breakfast as a family a few times a year. We come back because it’s a lovely atmosphere, lovely food and lovely coffee. My additional needs child is normally adamant that he needs to get an apple from here (given the name he expects there to be lots of apples to buy and eat!)🍏 His eyes lit up and he was so happily surprised when an apple came beautifully presented to him by a waitress on a plate of its own! I was really taken aback by the thoughtfulness of the staff here and how they made it a special thing for him, thank you so much.

Just visited this lovely looking pub for a bite to eat on our way through travelling home. We were greeted by the bar staff & ordered drinks. We took a seat & viewed the food menu. We both decided on the healthy option noodles with chicken which showed 600 calorie meal. We also ordered garlic ciabatta. The food arrived & very disappointed with what we saw. 2 bowls of greasy noodles sitting in an oily liquid! The ciabatta was cold & soggy. Such a shame as expected a great pub meal Needless to say we both left most of meal & left still hungry What a waste of money. We were asked if meal was okay to which we politely informed the waitress that it wasn’t great. Think the kitchen needs to up its game on food preparation.
