A lovely setting on the edge of open countty. Excellent enthusiastic service, with a good range of good, wines and other drinks. Shares a site with Dobbies garden centre. 22April2024.

Lovely pub and a fantastic Sunday roast

We had a fantastic meal at tickle trout tonight, Rachel and Lynsay are fantastic hosts, thanks so much for creating a relaxing atmosphere and making us feel special xx

Great luch great servers recommend macand cheese and buger the lager was not bad at all but the macers was to die for and the server Rachel was so love well defo be back again

The signature burger is one of the best burgers ive ever had

Food was amazing as was the service, very friendly staff and we weren’t waiting for long, bar area and top half of restaurant is dog friendly too. we’re definitely coming back

Brilliant restaurant! Set in a gorgeous location this place has it all. Not only is the food great, but the service is second to none. Friendly and helpful staff are out front at all times. Dog friendly, they even have a notice outside which says "dogs and muddy boots welcome". Great place for walkers to rest and grab a bite to eat and drink. Not surprised it has lasted the test of time. Keep up the good work and the abundance of hospitality folks.

I booked the dining room for dinner. We arrived to be told by a man (manager I think) that our table was just getting set (while he looked into the dining room) after a few minutes passed he came and said your table was ready and took us to the bar/pet area. I said we had booked the dining room to be told because I booked online this is what I was to get!? (Never had a problem booking online for all the visits I have had before) He was very rude and said that was all he had unless we wanted to wait half an hour. Even tho there was another 3/4 other parties waiting to be seated. That came in after us. Been coming for years and won’t be back. Just not the same anymore.

Been here a few times and it's been OK but booked online that day to go for a late lunch a couple of weeks ago and turned up only to be told that there was no booking. After querying this we were told by a very rude and obnoxious (and what looked like 'senior' member of staff) that the online booking system has obviously been wrong and there is no availability. He then argued with us that it was our fault as the online booking system isn't even anything to do with restaurant so he is taking no responsibility for it. I think his whole approach to the situation was rude and unprofessional, I had to actually step in and speak to him as the way he spoke to my mum was a disgrace. A simple apology would have been sufficient and maybe that they would have a look at how online bookings are made but no...will definitely not be back here with this type of customer service.

Can’t believe I’ve not been here and all the times I’ve passed it. Decided eventually to try it and so glad we did. Lots of parking. Lovely and cosy inside, with a real log burning fire. Service was great and food was hot and really tasty. We will definitely be back soon. We had both fish and steak ciabattas and they were excellent.

Scott and Lindsey were great servers. Good food here too!

Enjoyed a night out for dinner with friends. Staff Rachael and Lyndsey looked after us very well. My previous visit was not a great experience celebrating a special birthday due to a lot of the menu not available etc however this time all items available. Our table thought the venue was a little cool for the time of the year however Shift Manager did stoke up the fire with additional logs and upped the thermostat. Good service with friendly and attentive staff.

Lovely restaurant - nicely laid out and spotlessly clean. Went for lunch with friends on a horrible wet day but it was lovely and cozy inside with log fires burning. Food good - I had 3 small plates at £2.99 each - mac cheese, chunky chips and a side salad - they were a good size for a lunch time meal. Friends had a wrap with fries and fish finger sandwich with fries - both enjoyed theirs. After lunch we decided to order coffee - we had a wee bit of a wait as the restaurant by this time was very busy - but we didn’t mind. To our surprise when the waiter brought our hot drinks he said they were on the house as an apology for the delay. That’s service for you - especially as we hadn’t complained. I’ve left the best till last - and that’s the staff - there were only 2 staff serving and waiting tables. They were both so friendly and helpful - nothing was too much bother - even thought they were very busy. A credit to the management !

Thanks to Holly and Lynsey who waited on us at the Tickled Trout on Saturday 9th March. All staff could not have been any nicer, helpful or more courteous. Holly was really busy and took lots of time with us. Made my mother in law's day, and ours. The food was excellent. I always have had a lovely meal here but haven't been for a few years. It was a lovely surprise to see the restaurant still here and busy. We had possibly the best starter ever (chicken bites), fish was so fresh, tasty and substantial. The home cooked chips to die for. We managed desserts and the chocolate honey pot provided a lot of laughs, we weren't sure if it was all completely edible. It was! We were a bit cold from a day's shopping and the bar staff/manager put the fire on immediately, we stayed for hours. Had such a great afternoon, laughed continuously and felt extremely welcome. Thanks all at the Tickled Trout for a lovely day. We will be back soon, Tracey & family xx

Lovely friendly helpful staff today served by Holly and Steven. Food was delicious and fresh made. Restaurant is lovely and clean with a cozy fire on on a cold day. Really can’t fault this place and was as always worth the journey from Falkirk to eat here.

Had a lovely lunch served by Jess who was very helpful

Nice afternoon meal & drinks on a rare day off from work. I think the names of the staff were Jack & Jess and they made us very welcome and gave water and treats for the dogs unprompted. Nice food and drinks and will definitely return with others in the future! Great scenic walk up from Milngavie with the dogs away from the road.

Came with a friend and our two dogs. Very easy, friendly experience. Food & drinks fantastic! Jess and Jack the waiting staff were very attentive and gave first class service. I have allergies and Jess put my mind at rest and made sure my food was allergy-free. Will return! A+++

We popped in for a last minute meal with our little dog and Amy G looked after us very well from the minute we arrived. She made our visit very enjoyable.

The food was great. I had the pie of the day - delicious and filling. My wife had the salad - flavoursome and perfect quantity. My daughter Sophie had the chicken nuggets - they were "delicious". And my son Harris had the sausages and gravy - "nice with the gravy on the side". Desserts lovely too. Always service with a smile and very friendly staff. Clearly they work hard to make the atmosphere great. Only comment was on the peach jelly for children - the peach bits inside put them off, and the garlic bread was a little burnt. Very friendly for kids and dogs, so highly recommend.

Had a delicious family meal in great surroundings . Rachel and Holly gave excellent service in a friendly manner. First time visit for Psychic night unfortunately psychics left and didn't perform however Rachel tried to make amends despite it not being her fault. Thoroughly recommend.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was great bar one undercooked steak, which was redone and served promptly. The servers were attentive, but when all the patrons were eating service got a bit slow, this suited us but my not for everyone. This pub/restaurant is a good bit out of the way for us and only accessible by car, otherwise we would use more often.

Not been to Tickled Trout for years. Had lunch with friend today. Booked table at the fireside and just felt so homely and welcoming. Staff were so friendly and professional. Food was served on warm plates with hearty portions of fresh produce cooked to perfection and beautifully presented - compliments to the Chef and kitchen staff. xx

Just a shame they had ran out of some of the options very enjoyable meal and drinks staff a++++

Amy D was so kind to us when we came for our Sunday lunch. The food was delicious, we were so full we couldn’t handle dessert which is such a shame because they sounded lovely. The two male managers (unfortunately didn’t catch their names) were also lovely!

Last night my family went out for a Birthday celebration to the Tickled Trout and had a lovely evening. Great company, great food and wonderful service from Lyndsey and Rach! We will be returning soon!

This was our first trip to the Tickled Trout. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. We had the pie of the day and sea bass and they also do a delicious banoffee pie. Highly recommend visiting.

Food was tremendous - would recommend the steak burger. Excellent service from Rachel and Lynsey who are both extrenely personable and were very helpful.

Rachel and Lindsay were extremely attentive. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. It's my favourite Vintage Inn for that reason. I frequent here bi-weekly with my Greyhounds and Rachel greets me like a friend every time. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Fantastic.

This place is filthy! The paintwork all round needs re-done but there’s no excuse for it not being washed down in the meantime. The carpets are absolutely grim - do they ever vacuum? Worst of all though is the upholstered seating - stained, sticky, generally...

Lunch Deal: food was good but let down by the slow service with only one person serving the floor aided by one person behind the bar

Just had an amazing lunch .. Duo of Lamb which was delicious. Rachel is a star waitress + goes above + beyond to ensure a very pleasant experience.

Had dinner on 27th January food was not pleasant, inside of chicken pie was very dry and there was more batter on fish than fish content, have been going here for many years but has fallen badly the last few months, staff seem to struggle to keep abreast of service

Stephen our server was very personable and attentive and knowledgable. Credit to your company. I would have him training your other staff in customer service.

Average pub fare with portion size issues. Mac and Cheese is expensive for what it was. Essentially a starter bowl with a tiny salad. The chips on the side were also woefully under sized too. The garlic mushroom starter cream sauce had a strange herby...

Just lovely, Scott the manager was very pleasant and helpful. Food lovely, so nice they let you take your dog, she loved the treats and water.

Visited for the first time, there were a few hiccups. There was only a few customers yet mistakes with order and drinks and long time to be served etc however I think there was someone new in training and I believe we came at the end of a busy lunch hour. The lady I'm so sorry I didn't catch your name. I assume is the manager was so lovely. Her personality, cheeriness and just overall lovely demeanour despite clearly working very very hard. Didn't let it show. It's a large establishment and I can confidently say she could run it all solo handed at capacity still with a smile on a face and pep in step. I will definitely be back for this reason. You are amazing at what you do. Keep it up:)

Food is always excellent and so is the service. Staff are always very friendly and attentive. I would like to see a cheesecake on the dessert menu though and more comfortable chairs but that doesn’t take away from the food and service. We were served by Steven and have been served by Rachel in the past and both of them go out of their way to make our visit enjoyable.

Service 10/10 3 out of 4 dinners very good I had sausage and mash , Sausage skin VERY TOUGH , too much onion gravy , onion gravy too strong. Disabled toilet NOT disabled friendly . Toilet TOO low . Paper dispenser BEHIND my left shoulder,...

Love the cosy feel and I could take my dog which is a bonus. The only thing that lets it dow is the disabled toilet. It badly needs decorating and cleaning

Disgusting treatment. Complained about food and then this was discussed loudly at bar by staff

Main course - asked for fries given chips, asked for medium steak but was cold and raw in most of it, Would have returned it but not enough staff on to get their attention . When staff collected dishes didn’t ask why most of the meal was untouched, on hind site I should have taken the meal back myself, will never visit again. We had 3 other members of my family who thought there meal was nice/pleasant but nothing outstanding.

Rachel and Scott provided amazing service. Managed to fit us in at short notice and nothing was a problem! We will be back
