Mains delivered without clearing starters. Fish uncooked and sent back, Tiny butter dish with Mushy peas in it, no tatrar sauce requested but not sorted. very slow service. coffee and tea not offered.

I only had a starter and some olives and it took 40 minutes to arrive. The young woman serving me was a lovely girl and couldn't have been nicer, but the chain probably needs to have more staff on duty on a busy night. Hats off to the waitress for smiling despite that obviously being a tough shift. Other people were waiting well over an hour for food. The small starter I did order was very pleasant however.

I knew the food would likely be average based on it being a standard in house restaurant for a hotel like a beefeater pub grub style, but thought it would be quick and easy as I really just wanted an early night after a long work day. I had to wait pretty much an hour for my food which to me is unacceptable, especially without any prior notice that the kitchen was behind. Had I known I’d have gone somewhere else and being on my own for work I’m not a fan of sitting on my own in restaurants for ages with no food. Food when it did arrive was ok, not too much flavour to it, so pretty average. I think with so many places to eat nearby I wouldn’t go here again. Must say though the female member of staff that was serving at the time was excellent, very apologetic and well mannered, offered me a complementary drink or dessert for my wait (I didn’t want either, but nice thought) and explained the oven in the kitchen has packed up for 15 minutes delaying everything. Unfortunately though the overall experience for me wasn’t great.

We ate here on three evenings during a recent visit. We were not impressed with the service received from staff. There were also several issues with the food. Several mistakes were made by the waitresses, and they did not always check that the food was ok. Also, there were mistakes with the food. I asked for no tomatoes, but was given them. Also that day, my steak was not up to scratch, so had to send that back along with the chicken. These were replaced but with no apology. Also, with one of my desserts the custard was cold. Not sure how they could make that mistake, but they did. Food was nice when all was ok. Just disappointed with mistakes and service.

I opted to try the restaurant because i was staying at the hotel. I wasnt dissappointed n the service because my server "Rollins" ensured that my expectations we exceeded. The mean in itself was somewhat disappointing , my steak was unevenly cooked and lacking seasoning but other than that the meal was OK. Good selections of wines.

Three of us. Sirloin steak cooked to perfection. Chicken fillet with bacon and cheese so 'delicioso'. But chicken curry just so-so, of course one should go to a South Asian restaurant for curry, shouldn't you? Drinks good value -- Villa Maria S.B. a real find. And a French Coffee at the end of the evening was sublime. The young staff were a cosmopolitan mix who really took great care and attention over us even on a busy night. The real reason I've done this reveiw is to congratulate the staff on their rare honesty. Back in the room, there was a knock on the door and one of the waitresses was there with my wallet! Stupid silly me had left it on my chair on the restaurant. You never expect to get it back in London! All intact! What a lovely young team at Thyme!

So it was Sunday evening and not very busy so maybe service could have been a little quicker, but all courses were well cooked and well presented. I chose the Dinner and Breakfast Meal Deal. They had a new summer menu, so I had the Potted Crab, followed by the Sea Bass. The main course was cooked properly, whereas earlier in the year, the main (Grilled salmon) had taken an hour to be served and was burnt, hence the title of the review. The only strange thing was that when I came to pay, by credit card, the waitress said she wasn't allowed to add a tip. Strange, as that has happed in Thyme hotels I have visited previously. Breakfast the following was the standard Premier Inn fare, although their usual toaster had broken down the day before and a temporary, domestic one, which could only cope with 2 slices at a time, was in use and very slow. Nothing wrong with the food itself or the service, f course, although it was unusually busy.

I was staying in the hotel which is in the same building as the restaurant, which is also open to the general public, although the restaurant does not open until 6pm every day, the time I arrived for my meal, so was almost the first to be seated. I ordered one of their Meal Deals (Starter, Main, Drink and Breakfast) at a set price, with an upgrade of a dessert, charged extra, but at a discount. There seemed to be only 2 young waiting staff available for more than ½ an hour and the restaurant was busier at that time than I've seen here before. \the extra staff member did not seem to stay for very long ! My starter, which was perfect - but was brought to my table by the chef. which I thought was unusual - but by then then the 2 waiting staff were running around doing everything at a busy time . After that I then had to wait 30-40 minutes for the main course to arrive. I had changed the chips to mash and the fish was laid on top. When I lifted it up, the skin was burnt, some bits being charcoal, which had dropped onto the white mash discoloring it. As the fish looked OK, if a little dry on top, I accepted it, deciding that, as I had been waiting for almost an hour, I didn't want to wait for another hour to get an acceptable meal. I suspect that the fish had been cooked properly and then kept under a lamp until someone was free to bring it to the table but I did comment on what I thought of it when the waitress cleared the plate. (I think she was new to the restaurant as a male colleague was explaining everything to her.) She apologised (but it wasn't her fault !) and I asked her to let the Duty Manager know. Did they come and apologise ? Of course not !!! The waitress came back and said that I was to be offered an extra, free, glass of wine, but as I had already had enough alcohol, I turned that down. She went away again, returning with an offer that I would not be charged for the dessert - a reduction of £2 on a bill of £25.99. As it was that or nothing, I accepted On my way back to my room, the hotel receptionist asked how my meal was - so she got the full details, poor lady ! She apologised again and said she would inform the hotel management, but nothing came of that. Maybe someone in authority will read this review and make contact ? Fortunately, breakfast went smoothly !

I stayed at the Premier Inn and hence decided to try their buffet breakfast at the Thyme restaurant on the second morning. Unlike their lunch and dinner, breakfast did not appear to have long waiting times to be seated or served. The service was very good, polite, efficient and friendly staff all around. I had a friend over for breakfast, and we opted for the buffet breakfast which was typical, but very good. Being so close to the town center, there is no shortage of dining options, but I had no regrets that I dined in at the hotel (laziness being the prime motivator for the decision).

Stayed at Premier Inn East Croydon over Christmas holidays for 15 days. on our first night, the restaurant was not busy but it took my daughter and I quite a while to get served by the young ladies despite being told that the waitress would be with us soon. Once we finally got service, the food and our drinks were slow to come. My daughter ordered a pizza which she did not enjoy the pizza at all. I ordered chicken wings which were ok. We did go down on Christmas Eve again as were too lazy to go out of the building and the service was very much improved. The male waiter was very good and really looked after us.

Having booked into the Premier Inn and wanting a meal after work I thought I'd go here. How wrong could I be.. arrived just after 8pm tonne told that there's an hours wait for food. There wasn't that many people in the restaurant to validate that wait time so asked to speak to a manager. He confirmed what I had already been told but took my order and told me what time tonne back for. So I then went back to my room and waited.Went back at 9.20 and the mixed grill I ordered was missing the chips. Apparently they'd sold out so they substituted the chips for corn on the cob. And offered no partial refund for the inconvenience. The egg wasn't cooked either. Considering I was only staying here as I was working in the area and had been up since 3.15am that morning, I just wanted to eat my meal and get my head down as I had another early morning the next day. But having to wait an hour for food is ridiculous, fair enough on weekends etc but not a Monday night. Either way the food was substandard. Wouldn't recommend this place to follow workers either.

We ate here both one evening and again the next morning for breakfast. At dinner, the food we had was really nice, hot and served promptly. The only real downside was that we ordered a bottle of prosecco and when it came to the table, it had not been chilled. Breakfast was adequate - plenty of hot food and a help yourself coffee machine - but avoid the "Bubble and Squeak" - it was tasteless and not cooked properly.

There was little delay in serving the three courses, considering the number of diners and the staff were efficient, attentive and friendly as usual.Mt 'meal deal' included a complimentary full breakfast, which is on a buffet/self-service basis and, again, before 8am, was busy with the staff coping well with the high demand.Recommended.

I arrived at the Premier Inn close to East Croydon after a long and challenging journey because of mobility problem and decided to take upo the offer of an evening meal and unlimited breakfast within the same building.I was able to get a table at the opening of the restuarant trhat evening and having studied the menu ib my room knew in advance what I wanted tempura prawns, prawns in batter with a dip as a starter plus inclusive in deal a rall glass of ice cold larger beer and then a good size chunk of steak with veteables and fries. I resisted the choice of puddings at a discount for an additional £2 and opten for coffee back in my room.I was impressed by several aspects of this first visit. The attentiveness of the staff, the quality of the furnishings and atmosphere of the restuaurant. Classy without pretensions. The food was excellentMy only regret the following morning was that I was unable to sit and over indulge to myself from the unlimited menu as I was unsure about how long it would take to travel to Lords for the one day 50 over cricket cup final between Surrey and GlocuestershireI was still able to enjoy a fruit juice before a large plate of sausages, bacon, scrambled egg tomate mishrooms and a hash brown. A top uop of fruit jutice was then enjoyed befgore two slices of toast and coffee witha refill. On my visits the large buffet area I note the choice of fruit jucies and choice of teas as well as croissants, small fuit cakes, the extensive choice iof cereals and fruit. I had to be shown how to use the rolling toast machine. For those with the time and willing a later start a brunch approach would solve the problem of main food for the day. The deal which is available 24/7 provides a 25% saving £23.99 per diner and where a staff gratuity is optional but I believe all customers will feel merited. I look forward to going again on my next visits in October and December.

I always thought this chain of restaurants would replace food if the customer is unhappy with it, and I was disappointed that this was not done straight away. After the main course the service was very slow. I have eaten twice at this restaurant. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, quiet and well lit. It's tucked away on level 1 and you don't have to be resident at the Premier Inn hotel to use it. I have heard that it can get busy so maybe best to book for peak times. Both times I ate there were a great experience. The first time was as a solo diner (business trip) and I was out at ease and had a little table tucked away. I chose the ribs and upgraded my chips... it's well worth upgrading those chips. The ribs fell apart and so tasty. The portion was huge so be prepared to possibly leave some if you order a starter or an 'add on'. The wait staff are very attentive, even those not assigned to my table smiled over and asked if everything was OK. I told them it was the best meal I had in ages s d they seem genuinely happy to hear that. The second visit was with a couple of colleagues and it didn't seem a problem that we all wanted individual receipts. We arrived at 5:30pm and during the week there is happy hour of 2-4-1 on drinks - so it was £3.80 for 2 pints of Stella... not bad. This time I chose the BBQ burger stack and it was just as tasty as the ribs. We ordered the dipping breads to share which were lovely, nice soft mini breads with various dipping sauces and a garlic butter. We also ordered the add on of 3 fried chicken wings, 10 onion rings and coleslaw - great value at £2.99 for all of that. I'll definitely return and upgrade my chips again.

We ate in this restaurant while staying in the Premier Inn. On arrival we were not noticed for a few minutes. When we sat down, we were asked 'This is not a pre-paid a meal, is it?'. Firstly, the voucher was clearly visible on the table. Secondly, waiting staff should not ask a loaded question, instead they should ask an open question. When we ordered, the food took a while to arrive. When I received my starter (chicken wings), I was disappointed with it. While the staff were pleasant enough, they did not seem interested in whether or not the food was alright. When we ordered our main course, the waitress just gave the default options, and did not ask which options we wanted. For example, it was assumed I wanted chips as opposed to new potatoes. However, the main course itself was very good. Though once again the waitress did not ask if everything was okay with the meal. The dessert was fine but not great. After finishing the dessert, the waitress asked if everything was okay here. However, I do not believe this question to be in reference to the food. Therefore not once during the evening did she ascertain that everything had been okay with the food.So overall, a disappointing starter, a good maincourse, and a reasonable desert. However the service certainly could have been better.

Since I dined here last time (see under Premier Inn, Central Croydon) before Christmas, the manning problems have been overcome and there were adequate waiting staff to cope with the demand. The menu is a little limited, but the food was again, well cooked and delicious and this was a more pleasant experience than last timeHowever, breakfast is still not problem free. The cooked items are on a buffet system, kept warm (?) under lamps, but it took over 5 minutes for scrambled eggs to be produced, an hour and a half during service. The cheery and plentiful waiting staff did what they could and eventually delivered a plate to my table, but main items such as this should never be allowed to run out and the kitchen staff were at fault.Improving, but could still do better.

Bad food. Loooong wait both for drinks and food. Waiter (owner I was told) got 2 meals wrong. Brought calamari fritti for my husband and I which he never ordered in his life and I can't stand them as they are like rubber in the UK so would never have ordered that. Waiter insisted I did, not once but 3x! My husband actually asked for whitebait! My husband ordered calf's liver as a main which is soft and succulent in France, Germany and Greec etc. It was thin and like shoe leather. It is supposed to go into a hot pan, then turned over after a few seconds and taken out of pan - served. This is what it should be like "A classic of British cooking, Calf's Liver is succulently tender and fine-grained with a deliciously mild, sweet flavour. More and more people are discovering the delicious flavour of Calf's Liver due to its place on the menus.« I took it home to give to the dog and foxes!! My friend next to me (we were 13) ordered meatballs which were so salty she couldn't eat them. Another lady didn't like how the fish was done. It was mediocre. MY mussels had anorexia. I have photos. They were non existent or if there was one in the shell, it didn't measure more than 5mm. 20 were empty and the sauce was not nice. Obvs they were not fresh mussels, they were cooked already and just heated up. Lots and lots of small broken shells in the sauce. Must have been the last dregs. Just as well I didn't swallow one of the shards. Will I go back? No, I'll go to a real Italian restaurant next time. Bragging about an Italian chef! He needs to go on a cookery course IN ITALY! I lived, ate and cooked there. I know what Italian food is supposed to taste like!!!!! And sooo expensive.

They cook the best skinless cod, away from the seaside, that can be found locally but the CHIPs!!! By the time you sit down to eat them at home, they become dry and shrivelled and there are just so many of them, that we don't have plates big enough. I recommend asking for lots of salt and vinegar in the hope the moisture sweats some plumpness into them while they are wrapped up. The Fish still wins out over the local competition, where some places are still cash only, a disgrace in this day and age.

New to the area and searching for a go-to spot for fish and chips, I tried Happy Dolphin—and it didn’t disappoint. The portion size was generous, and everything arrived pipping hot and crispy. I’ll definitely be ordering from here again!
