Last week dinner service was terrible, the waitress could hardly speak a word of English and got my order all wrong and then didn’t understand why! She asked me 3 times what wine I would like and still brought the wrong one. Tables are always sticky. Last night service was a bit better but I knocked my fork on the floor when the waiter was right there yet he didn’t pick it up or being me another one. This morning, last weeks waitress is on, table extremely sticky and again she didn’t understand what my order was so goodness knows what I’ll get. Oh had the meal deal but had to pay for the additional chicken on the noodles. That’s unfair I think, who is going to order just a bowl of noodles and no protein?

I seem to remember that my very first review on this platform was prompted by a poor experience at a Thyme restaurant - on that particular occasion at a Premier Inn in Glasgow. The food was so substandard I felt it needed to be pointed out. Now, some four years later, I found myself trying Thyme once again, when staying at the Premier Inn Aston, which it adjoins. I'm sorry to say that the experience was no better on this occasion. Food, service and the restaurant environment itself were all sadly lacklustre. Let me start with what happened on arrival. I hadn't booked a table so I was told there would be a 15 minute wait. Fair enough, even though the restaurant was largely empty and didn't seem particularly busy. Ordinarily, in these circumstances, I expect to be told where to wait, and to perhaps be given a recommendation to have a drink at the bar while I wait. But no such suggestion was forthcoming. This lack of attentiveness is very noticeable to a former hospitality manager, and doesn't convey a particularly good first impression. Instead, I told the waitress I would be at the bar. Conversely, the barman was far more engaged and, when I mentioned I was waiting for a table, kindly seated me straight away. Covid wise, there were screens separating tables, but beyond that not much else. Although staff were wearing face masks, no one else did, and customers roamed freely around, congregating around the till to pay their bills as though table service had been suspended - I'm not sure why that was necessary. I felt such movement around the restaurant should have been kept to a minimum. Having sat down, my order was taken fairly promptly, but there was an inordinately long delay in the food arriving, both starters and mains. Again, it wasn't clear why. The place was very quiet and could in no way be perceived as busy. The food, when it arrived, was disappointing. My starter, mozzarella balls with harissa dip, was very poor - hard, dry and tasteless. Clearly overcooked, and not worth the £4.99 price tag (see pictures). I hoped for better with the main course, but it was no improvement. The BBQ chicken & bacon melt was tolerable, to say the least, but certainly nothing special, and it did not reflect £11.79 in terms of value (see pictures). Overall, the quality is substandard, and there appears to be no pride or pleasure in what is being served up. Sadly, this lack of pride and attentiveness was reflected in the state of the restaurant. Till drawers left open, bin left unemptied (see pictures), and an eyesore to customers in the dining room. This indicates a lack of attention to detail that should be fundamental to anyone in a customer facing role. To cap it all there was a quibble with the bill when I noted I had been overcharged on drinks. It was quickly corrected, but was clearly a result of lack of communication between staff, which really shouldn't have happened. It didn't improve my impression of the place - I left feeling as though I had come full circle - back where I started but no better off.

Food had been pre paid with company business card... now being made to pay again because we are sat in the bar and not the restaurant...? I found a two hour wait for food unexceptable, when I witnessed walk in’s being served within half an hour when sat in the bar.

Food is very reasonably priced and very tasty! All the staff are so helpful and friendly, all very chatty and made lots of conversation with me. Although all the staff were equally good, Sara in particular was lovely and looked after me on my trip.

Good dinner menu , best bet if you staying here is go for £25 meal deal for dinner, 2 courses (£2 for a third course) and a drink plus premier breakfast. We had steak, which was very good, sticky toffee pud and cheesecake . Had full premier inn breakfast which had good choice, hot food was hot and well presented.

As we were staying at the Premier Inn, NEC, we decided to have dinner at their in-house restaurant 'thyme'. As we sat down, we were told that a number of dishes were not available. However, we were served by an excellent waitress and the food was good. Their breakfast was more than adequate with choice of Full English or Continental.

Was served by two waitresses - both friendly, efficient and attentive. Tia in particular was excellent - she catered to my needs and made me feel welcome. I'm regularly in Birmingham for work and stay at the Premier Inn due to its convenient location. Even though the restaurant is part of the hotel, it does a good job of not feeling like 'hotel restaurant' quality.

It wasn't spectacular food but I've certainly had far worse. Service a bit sketchy and the menu was very limited but it was hot and appeared to be freshly cooked. Not bad for a hotel restaurant if you've got no where else to go.

For someone like me, the menu was not exciting. The portions were large though. Tried the curry chicken and got food poisoning.

The food in the restaurant in good quality. It gets very busy in the restaurant on Tuesday and Wednesday evening so I will highly recommend booking table in advance. Eat early if you can.

The main issue, is the service from front of staff on a Friday, as this is the day i generally visit. You can stand waiting to be acknowledged for over a minute while they continue doing what they are doing before they have look up and ask you what you want. Food is generally very good apart from the bacon, in the bee fast which always appears it’s been cooked on a dirty plate After three visits having the same poor service I will not be visiting this establishment again.

Sat at a table and one of the chefs bashed into my table spilling my newly bought drink. The manager (walking two seconds behind her) then decided to bring me beer mats because "your table is a bit of a mess. I hope you appreciate the fact I bought these over for you" I then ordered a small breakfast. Whilst eating it I was interrupted by a member of staff sweeping under my table whilst I was eating. She even bashed my foot with the broom whilst I was eating. That food on the floor was there before I arrived. I felt extremely embarrassed by the fact that I was being victimized just because a member of staff had walked into my table and I was blamed for it, and that I could not eat my meal in peace (no where else would interrupt a guest's meal in this way) I have added a photo of one of the pieces of (not my) food, that the memeber of staff was trying to get from under my feet as I was eating.

Was glad to see Molloys open again after such a long time. We went in and could smell the odour of damp and saw the ceiling and walls with mould stains. The floor is dirty and the place hasn't been given a helping hand since it was shut. The place doesn't do food now. We stopped for a quick pint although no idea of a good.pint no head and smelt like cleaning fluid. Such a shame the place wasn't inspected or at least cleaned before opening.

Very nice surroundings, helpful friendly staff, not too loud for brunch and great brunch menu. Coffees and juices were good, great food, veggie options too
