Thank you so much for looking after us earlier this evening!. My Daughter is autistic and struggled with the noise & crowd when we entered but your staff member (sorry can’t remember his name), was amazing and made sure she was comfortable, offering various table options!. The other staff were also attentive & helpful throughout. Food was spot on, loved it!

I visited this venue for the first time this week, as a guest of a wedding party celebration.I cannot fault this pub. The staff were so friendly, helpful and accommodating throughout the event. Despite the small cooking facilities, Dan and his staff managed to produce hot delicious food for the large throng, with a variety of dietary needs.

The pub is very cramped, we came away with a headache as it was so noisy. We had to shout to have a conversation.Considering the amount of customers the service was ok, the staff tried hard but service was slow. There is limited choice on the menu, I assume this is because their kitchen is small. The roast dinner is good. The fruit crumble and custard was not as good as we have had it before and was barely warm.We would not recommend a Sunday visit.

Pre booked a table for lunch, but we needn't have bothered as lots of tables to choose from.Menu is currently very limited, but that is the case in many restaurants and public houses due to the after effects of the pandemic. No starters, but three mains ordered and served quickly. Fish and Chips, Salmon served with samphire, mash potatoes, mix vegetables and a seafood jus and three local sausages, onion gravy and chunky chips. Generous portions, tasty food, nice presentation and absolutely no complaints about the quality.Bar areas are comfortable and recently decorated. Toilets are very clean and overall a lovely old pub in the centre of pretty Romsey with friendly and welcoming staff.

Disappointed in the boring menu - we came for the fantastic food and interesting menu that we experienced multiple times 2018-2020 pre-Covid. What a total let down. Our hearts sank when we saw bog standard pub grub. Shame you have lowered your standards we won’t be back as can get more exciting food elsewhere. What we ate however was well cooked and cannot be criticised it was all nice just the choices nothing special - could go to any pub anywhere and see the same boring stuff on offer . The only slightly interesting thing was the veloute with the salmon but even that although delicious wasn’t really a veloute. Big shame won’t be back unless we hear the menu is better again . Yawn bummer wish we had gone somewhere else. Sorry!!!!

6 of us plus dog arrived at 6pm on a very busy Friday evening without a reservation but were quickly shown to a table. That was fortunate for us as several people who arrived shortly after us were made aware that there were no more tables available for dinner for at least a couple of hours. Understandable, as it was obvious so many people were eating already. The staff were all superb - friendly, knowledgeable and attentive - even fetching a bowl of water and some treats for our dog. Our orders were taken, drinks and sharing starters arrived very promptly afterwards. We took some time to choose our main courses from several unusual options alongside some pub favourites. In due course, the mains arrived - all nicely presented and without exception we all thoroughly enjoyed what we had. Have to say this was an overall excellent experience, full marks to all the team at the Three Tuns.

We visited for lunch on a Tuesday. The 300-year-old interior is delightful, but the menu offered was not particularly interesting (not so good as a few years ago). I chose a chicken, ham and leek pie. My wife chose two starters: buttermilk chicken and hot-smoked trout rillettes. I ordered a gin-and-tonic with Fevertree ronic and the house gin (Gordons). The gin was well presented, with plenty of ice (as requested) and three slices of lemon. My home-made pie was tasty with a good pastry. My wife's two starters were quite OK but rather unexciting.

Had a few meals here, ranging from average to excellent. You never quite know what you’ll get. Last night was a very good night indeed. The ox cheek pie was a gorgeous, followed by a nice bit of cheese. My friend had the bangers and mash which looked suitably hearty and was reportedly good. The menu was a bit limited, presumably reduced menu for COVID-19. But better to do less and do it well. Which they did. Very welcoming landlord and a really nice warm atmosphere.

Characterful pub set in a residential street, close to the River Test and about five minutes walk from Romsey town centre. Staff are friendly and welcoming and there's a great selection of ales, including offerings from the local Flack Manor Brewery. I opted for a pint of Romsey Gold, but they also have Double Drop available on handpump plus a few other ales. The food is okay, but that's about as far I would go. Perhaps it's a Covid thing, but the menu is quite restricted, and not particularly cheap either. I opted for the Buttermilk Chicken at £12.95. This was basically two pieces of deep fried chicken breast, coated in a very think layer of breadcrumbs and served with chips plus meant to be coleslaw but as I don't eat mayonnaise, they substituted it with a (very small) green leaf salad. All perfectly eatable but for a nice meal out, I would have expected something with a bit more flair.

For dessert we had a chocolate based sundae which was also delightful. The staff were both friendly and efficient to the two of us and we would certainly go back when in the area.Well done one and all for making our evening meal so pleasant and enjoyable( esp. Expected pink beef as we at at 12:15 but wasn’t to be. The beautifully cooked range of veg with beetroot and broccoli etc. is no more. Maybe the chef has changed. Either way. Would I return? Yes, but for drinks only and to enjoy the welcome and great ales. The food is not at the same standard as before. I’ll keep an eye on the reviews and maybe standards will recover.

Four of us ate on a mid-week evening. The reduced menu due to Covid was understandable, but we were hopeful the quality would remain. Sadly not. All 3 types of meals ordered ranged from poor to terrible, the ploughmans bread was too hard to eat and was sent back and very poor value for money. Never again, if they can't get a reduced menu right, it does not bode well. This used to be the best dining experience in Romsey.

Having reviewed this establishment in Aug 2018 copied below:- [Having driven past the Three Tuns on a regular basis decided to actually give it a try. What a good decision, I originate from Hull once home to the greatest fishing fleets ever known and know my way around a decent bit of fish well I must admit I enjoyed one of the best if not the best fish and chip supper since I left Hull in 1959. Certainly on the visit again list].We where disappointed to find that the high standard of food we had become used to no longer applied although the service remains excellent. The menu and food where both uninspired and left a lot to be desired. I had the cod and chips which turned out to be a sliver of some specimen of fish coated in an undercooked tasteless batter. I was offered but refused a replacement but a replacement was brought anyhow and that matched the first offering. The Three Tuns cannot trade on 'WINNER! BEST PUB IN HAMPSHIRE 2017' anymore as there are lots of establishments vying for repeat customers and the Three Tuns is not one of them. I do hope the standards improve as this has been on our repeat visits for some time but not any longer.

My wife and i visited for a snack lunch. There was plenty of room outside, undercover and inside. The tables were well spaced. The waitress did not wear a mask, which was unusual in the pandemic times. We enjoyed our beers. I ordered a Ploughman's Lunch. It contained various items: ham, cheddar, boiled egg, small pork pie + pickle. The bread was a very fresh baguette (so much better than the bread recently served to me at the Goat). The ham was not quite so good, seemingly from a supermarket pack instead of hand carved. I enjoyed the lunch, largely because of the high quality bread and butter, also the fresh radishes in the salad. My wife enjoyed her egg and cress sandwich on granary bread.

We both ordered the roast beef roast and it didn’t disappoint. The food was hot, the meat was tender, the veggies were well cooked and it was no surprise that we both cleared our plates. Hadnt visited for Sunday roast since before the couple that ran the pub previously left at the end of 2019. This used to be hands down the best roast beef sunday dinner anywhere locally at any price. Unfortunately the roast we had on Sunday was nowhere near as nice as it used to be. It wasnt terrible, just average. Beef was very rare and quite chewy. The clever way the veg used to be presented and cooked is gone. The menu now has less choice and the roast dinners are not priced individually anymore, you are encouraged to choose either 2 or 3 courses for a fixed amount. As it transpired when we got the bill the cost of the roast has gone up from £13.95 to over £15 which wouldnt matter at all if it was as good as it used to be. A real shame, but when I heard the tennants had left it was something that I half expected to happen. Still a decent enough pub but I couldnt really recommend the roast to friends which I would do passionately previously.

Good food well priced too, with our group picking the venison pie, bream, and fish and chips for mains, and rice puds, cheesecake and ice cream for desserts. 4 people met for lunch at The Three Tuns a few weeks ago and enjoyed it very much. The menu was not the run of the mill and we all enjoyed our starters, which is all we have for lunch, very much. The service was good as was the coffee. Nothing to complain about all good. It is the sort of pub you could recommend people to with no problem.

This is a great little pub with friendly and helpful staff. Free car park, decent menu, good choice of real ales, lagers and cider.

After multiple visits I finally got around to write a review on this lovely place in Romsey. The food, the always changing beers selection and the service makes this place my favourite in Romsey.

One of Romseys best known pubs, still suffers a bit from its "urbanisation" a few years ago, preferred it as a comfy traditional pub.Good beer selection though, staff are fine, didn't try the food, but ok by all accounts

We had the roast beef dinner and were so looking forward to it after the reviews – but it was so disappointing! Roast potatoes – I think we had 2 each and they didn’t even taste roasted if I’m honest. Hardly any veg although we did have a pile of ratatouille – really with a roast dinner? Meat was so thin I think if we held it up we could have seen light coming through it – it did have a nice flavour though! Gravy had hardly any flavour to it! So so disappointing as we had the read the great reviews and booked especially for my Fiancés birthday!

I have been meaning to come here for a while as my friend lives very local to it! Wish I had come across this gem sooner! The food is faultless, with ‘proper olde pub’ and great service to match! Will be back very soon, a must go for foodies!

Romsey and Hampshire is very lucky to have a pub like the Three Tuns, providing superb food, great atmosphere and brilliant selection of drinks. The choice of gins and beers is rivalled by few and the staff are always ready and willing to provide recommendations.

After visiting the French market on mothers day we popped in for a refreshment stop before home. Quaint, rustic yet elegant furnishings with a friendly atmosphere and was easy to park with my disabled mum. We had a light bite starter, the salmon scotch egg on nicoise salad, which I have to say was very good indeed. Dog friendly & good selection of ales. Choice of 40 gins. Lovely little traditional pub, friendly ladies behind the bar, and a lovely afternoon. Definitely recommended.

The first impression of the restaurant area was very pleasing, nicely decorated, with flowers on the tables. Unfortunately when we sat at the table we realised that the flowers were very past their best, which was not pleasant to look at.

A family celebration spoiled by slow service and a problem with one of the main courses. We sat for 30 minutes before our order was taken (1 starter and 4 mains), a further 25 minutes before the one starter arrived and another 35 before our main courses arrived. My main was the burger, which I'd asked to be served without the chilli relish. Unfortunately it arrived with a generous helping of chilli relish on the underside of the burger and on top of the lettuce and bottom half of the brioche bun. They offered to replace my meal, but after waiting 90 minutes I declined, scraped the relish off and didn't eat the relish, lettuce or brioche bun. The long wait was also the reason we didn't bother with desserts. We received an apology and 25% off our bill, which was fair of them. But until we asked why everything was taking so long (we seemed to be the only people affected) nobody had come over to us or offered any explanation as to why service was so slow for us yet seemed fine for everyone else. If we'd been given an explanation (we still don't know why) and an apology at an earlier stage we wouldn't have felt so aggrieved.

Great trout scotch eggs and special truffle drizzle chips. Well worth a try. I have been to this restaurant several times over the past few years and have never been disappointed. Not a place my pension will stretch to too often but the treat is worth waiting for.

Advertised as the Best Pub in Hampshire so thought we would give it a whirl for lunch. It was ok, but nothing to write home about and have certainly had better food elsewhere in Hampshire. Two of us had fish and chips, one had a ploughmans and one a macaroni cheese. It came to over £60 for 4 of us with a soft drink which I thought was quite steep for what he had.

It’s a lovely pub the locals have been telling me and they were spot on. We travelled down on a Saturday midday. Parking was a little bit of a trick but the character of the place made up for that. What a beautiful building inside and out. Warm greeting of laughter, smiles and fire. Good selection of wine, beer and gin. I felt my starter the (scotch egg) didn’t have enough seasoning. The main (beef cheek.) gave an explosion of flavour. Staff were great and I took a pic of the cutlery because one of the few pub I have been to with no watermarks. Thank you.

We were recommended the Three Tuns by a number of people. The service is okay and the food tries to divert from the usual pub fare. We took the family there in October 2018 and also had dinner there in May 2018. Each time we left feeling that it never quite reached the mark. There was nothing that was bad but nothing that made us go wow lets come back.

No need for a booking, a decent café with great service. Staff are very friendly and the food is excellent. Prices are reasonable, we eat there at least once a week. Highly recommended.
