Romsey Golf Club in Test Valley

I and three friends bought a four-ball here in a charity auction. The welcome we got in the clubhouse was warm and friendly and he enjoyed lovely bacon baps and coffee before heading out on a slightly murky day. As we passed the pro shop, a man quite rudely told us he had to use hedgehog wheels on our trolleys because the course was 'soft'. Since none of us had them (there had been nothing on their website to warn us) we all had to hire trolleys from the club. The trolleys we were given were wrecked - mine had two wheels facing in different directions - and once out on the course, we saw several members who weren't using hedgehog wheels. It felt like they were taking advantage of us as visiting guests. The course was lovely and was certainly dry enough to take standard wheels.

Met up with 38 ex work colleagues for lunch which had been pre booked here. The welcome signage for those, including us who had not visited before, was a good start. The manager Marc and Rachael, events organiser were superb throughout. My wife has a number of life threatening allergies- no problem. The research by the Chef and Rachael into the food chosen was unprecented in our experience of eating out. Well done to all the team who were so friendly and happy to oblige. Oh- nearly forgot- the food was excellent, served hot which in itself is commendable. How lucky the locals are to have such an establishment on their doorstep.

The food and drink was delicious, we all had the carvery and this was beautifully presented and very tasty. The most positive aspect were the friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and fun staff. The cooks were friendly, the waiting team were exceptionally friendly and added to a really lovely time!

We contacted 'Events' in respect of holding a Wake in their clubhouse. Rachael was very prompt in replying to us. We knew it would be a very small gathering but had no idea how many people would be attending. She very kindly said that she could do something for 15 people. We then decided to meet with Rachael and were shown the Presidents suite (the smaller room of the two for hire) and decided on the buffet lunch. The location was lovely and not far from Testvalley Crematorium and the staff were friendly. On the day the buffet was lovely and the staff were very attentive but not intrusive. Thank you.

Had a very nice Sunday lunch at Romsey Golf Club today, excellent value for a two course meal. Staff very polite, friendly and attentive. Looking forward to my next visit

We held a wake. The Resturant team was most accommodating and provided a delicious cream tea at a very fair cost. Brilliant!

I went to a 40th Birthday party here, the venue was very well presented with efficient and friendly staff (no queing at the bar) but the star of the show was the food, just delicious, I am not usually a fan of buffet food but this was the best I have ever had.

Went with a group of 22 - everyone enjoyed their meals & the atmosphere. Service was excellent & their was a wide range to choose from for meal options catering for vegetarians & even fussy eaters. Thanks to all the staff concerned for a special night that was good value for money.

From initial booking to the evening event everything was well organised. I have visited and eaten in the Golf Club many times (including holding my wedding reception there in 2005) and never have I seen it looking and feeling so festive. The menu was appealing and any dierty requirements were dealt with by Racheal. My only criticism (and was also hightlighted by some of my friends) was the length of time between courses. A couple of my frineds said the desserts (Lemon Meringue and the Brulee were both a little watery. Other than that a great local festive night out, thank you.

Being the designated person at work to sort the annual Christmas works do out, I was seeking some where different to the normal hotel package. The location was ideal and the price very reasonable. From start to finish Rachel the events co-ordinator made the process so easy and straight forward and was very accommodating in each step of the process. On the actual night we all had a fabulous time. Felt very Christmassy and a great atmosphere. Drinks prices very reasonable and staff very friendly. The one thing that stood out to my self and all my colleagues was the food and service. Wasn’t the usual rushed out courses one after another. We had a nice time between in course and the food was absolutely delicious. Then boogied the night away. A great night had by all. Thoroughly recommend booking for a works do.

Great selection of meats and vegetables which is cooked to perfection. Good selection of starters and deserts as well. Staff great and very attentive. You need to book as very busy.

Great surroundings, NOT the usual "Golf Club" excessive price, the staff are attentive and friendly, been 3 times recently, consistently GREAT food, the Chef is very accommodating, LOVE the roasties and Beef!! Not worth cooking for two, so Marc & team will see us again soon. You have to book, do not leave it too late.

The food is fantastic at Romsey Golf. There is also vegetarian options. All dietary requirements are catered for. This is a brilliant venue for weddings and parties too. It is well decorated and there is a good bar to suppor the restaurant.

We love the roast dinner here. Is very busy on a Sunday must book your table. They do some very yummy deserts as well.

We've enjoyed the Sunday carvery here twice. Both times there was Pork, Turkey and Beef. I enjoyed the turkey most but had a little Pork as I do love the crackling that goes with it. You can have a selection of what meat is available, else more of one thing (my husband just had the beef). There was plenty of veg to help yourself to. I don't like cauliflower but there was plenty of carrots, beans, cabbage, parsnip and potatoes and also Yorkshire Pudding (who can't resist a Yorkshire pudding). At least on one occasion there was crushed carrot and swede. We will go again!

We invited some friends for lunch at the Romsey Golf Club and they were most impressed. We all had the carvery which was excellent. Meat and vegetables, of which there were many, were cooked to perfection. We did manage to have a dessert, although two friends only had icecream and sorbet. The rest of us opted for the Bakewell tart which which was as a true Bakewell tart should be with plenty of almonds and flavouring. Service was excellent with friendly and attentive waiting staff. Good food and good company made for a most enjoyable time. Sheila B

Played here with 2 friends today. Warm welcome from the pro shop and also in the bar area. It was a good day to play. We were not held up at all and it was great to enjoy the course. It is a challenging course with narrow fairways and plenty of trees.

Went here on a Groupon deal with friends as a treat for my birthday for a round of golf. Took nearly 3 hours to do 9 holes, so we walked off. Very disappointed. Went into the clubhouse,and an official complained there were footmarks on the floor from golf shoes and pointed in our direction, we'd all changed our shoes, so he hoovered up. Then asked if we were from a reciprocal club , and when we said we were on a Groupon feal, he groaned "those Groupon deals". They just don't want you there, never going back. Awful customer relations

Everyone in our birthday party enjoyed the Sunday carvery. It is all you can eat with beef, chicken, and gammon, roasted potatoes and many other choices. The prices are good value for money, and the service is friendly. The dining area is bright with a view of the golf course , and the toilets as well as the dining room are fully accessible.

Such a beautiful venue... How ever the simplest of requests were not met... I chosed to have my special birthday celebrations here and was happy to pay to have the pressure taken off my day and be arranged and set up by the club.. How ever this was not the case... yes they had staffing problems ie: the chief had left earlier that month. but my guests were put at risks regarding the food.. I prearranged a time for food to come out but on arrival found it had already been put out (how long before that god knows) I wanted my food to come out later in the evening so was horrified to see it out on arrival. Ask to see the chief and he had gone home.. leaving a very young lad alone... (this club holds strict guild lines that food is only out for 2 hours) but they were happy to chuck it out early so the chief could leave... many other issues happened but I won't bore you... Just May be reconsider another venue!!!!!

We attended a family wedding here , the food was lovely , canapes were served on arrival flooded by a beef or pork roast or salmon all the food looked and tasted lovely , service was excellent

Had a walk round this stunning course today. The course is tough and challenging for all levels of golfers. There are some serious hills here but all worth it for the views. To finish it off have a cool drink on the terrace over looking the course and nice meal, cooked freshly on order. The food is lovely and plenty of it. I would definitely recommend.

A short tight tree lined golf course with some of the best greens I've ever putted on. A pleasure to play. Staff can't do enough for you

We had a lovely 2 course Sunday lunch for £10.95 - 4 different meats and lots of fresh veg. Three courses is £12.95. Staff were very good and the atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly.
