We go fairly regularly and, up until recently, it has been one of my favourite country pubs. However, the last few times we have visited, the food hasn’t been as good. I’ve given up on the duck spring rolls as they often have fat in them and the veg doesn’t always taste as fresh as it should. At £20 for a lot of the mains, it’s very overpriced for what it is. The standard has definitely dropped and I question how often we will frequent. Such a shame as I used to love it here.

Lovely meal.. I need to ge honest... 10/10 for the superb starters... Dim Sum and Pork Spring Rolls were excellent... I ordered the 'Weeping Tiger' for the main course - having enjoyed it in the past, BUT this version was bland in comparison ... where are the chillies, and pour on sauce? They made the difference and, without these ingredients, the Weeping Tiger is now a shadow of its former self! Sorry !!!

Lunch today in celebration of one of my friends birthday at the Fox Inn , Tangley Andover : it was the most dis appointed food we ever had . We had sizzling steak which was tough and salty , sizling lamb was tender but very salty , sizzling prawns was overcooked and again it was very salty. The Singaporean noodles was soggy , and salty . It should be dry and not too much curry. We complained to the chef but he was an obnoxious character , he was rude and wont accept criticism. We are three Asians of descents and we know how to enjoy proper Asian cuisines especially the Thai cuisine. The attitude of the chef to us was unacceptable . I must say the lady owner of the pub was very kind , apologetic and very pleasant to us and offset one of the food ordered from our bills which was very kind of her . Overall experienced: I rate the service is top notch, 5 Stars , the food was edible but un enjoyable,1star . We wont recommend to friends and we wont go back there again

Absolutely first class. I’ve known and enjoyed the Fox Inn at Tangley for years and will be very pleased to return and try something new from their exquisite menu. Not many restaurants can boast excellence in everything they offer on their menu, but the Fox Inn definitely can. Everything they serve is wonderful and I have always loved the infusion of Thai dining with a traditional pub front of house feel. It’s deserving of far more than 5 stars. Cherry on top, the owner and his wife are simply lovely people. Very warm, welcoming, good humoured and a pleasure to be around. See you again, very soon!

We shared a long overdue family reunion dinner at this delightful old pub. The staff were very attentive and catered for all our requests. The Thai food menu is extensive and a welcome change to the normal English pub stodge we have encountered to date. We shared a number of entrees then main dishes between our party of 8, and then squeezed in dessert. Highly recommend The Fox Inn Tangley as a must visit for lunch or dinner.

We had a lovely dinner last night. A warm welcome from the stormy weather! Our waitress was very attentive but also gave time to peruse the menu. All of our food was delicious and piping hot. Would recommend and will be back .

Ordered for the first time online for takeaway tonight, they got a little mixed up with the order and were given someone else's, wasn't until we were a few bites in that we realised it wasn't ours. Phoned them up and they said come back in and pick up your original order. They were absolutely brilliant couldn't have been more accommodating, and to top it all off the food was absolutely superb well worth the 2 visits, couldn't recommend highly enough!

Amazing. From how accommodating and communicative setting up a reservation was to the food and service I cannot recommend this place enough. They went above and beyond to be helpful and understanding and I cannot wait to return to try more dishes.

We found ourselves at a loose end one lunchtime and decided to return to the Fox Inn for a meal. My wife had sizzling prawns with coriander and lemon I had a stir fry with ginger and duck. It had a Thai name which I cant recall. I chose to have it with sticky rice. We were both delighted with the food it was delicious. The young lady who served us was lovely and very attentive, as was the house Labrador. I had a lovely pint of an Irish Porter the name of which eludes me but it was delicious. I’m sorry to add a negative side to my review but Im afraid there is one. We went on a freezing cold Thursday lunchtime and the pub wasn’t very warm at all. My wife was sitting in front of a log burner which the young lady kept feeding but the overall temperature in the room was so cold I had to put my coat back on and my wife had a very warm right leg and cold back. We were the only customers on that day so I have deducted two stars. I know the problems of balancing low winter turnover with high heating costs but if you’re going to be open to customers then a comfortable temperature must be maintained. We will go back when its warmer

Tom yum soup is not great, not hot enough in heat or temperature. Green curry was very good but the worst thing was that on one of the coldest nights of the year so far the fire was not lit which meant we sat in our coats!

A dismal unwelcoming experience. No Welcome on arrival and no Goodbye or Thank you on departure. Tasteless dim sum, tasteless curry, ok duck stir fry . Pleasant young girl who served us but doesn't appear to be anyone in overall charge. A truly dismal experience and waste of the drive to get there and the money.

It’s not something you see or hear of everyday; a Thai restaurant nestled within a country pub. I went there with my colleagues for a festive meal out. Driving to the pub in the darkness felt like a scene from a Stephen King novel. The roads were misty and branches stuck out on to the road. We arrived there and were greeted by a warm coal fireplace. The staff were very friendly and were giving us recommendations for what to eat, especially advising on the right side for each dish. Wait times were a bit slow; took about 45 minutes but I expected that. We were a party of ten and the food was cooked fresh. Each dish was expertly presented and very tasty. I had the green curry. At first I thought there was more sauce than rice, but quickly discovered that the surplus sauce made for a perfect broth. Overall I would definitely go back, especially on a summer evening.

Abbie the assistant manager was such a gem tonight. Excellent service from her and her staff members tonight. Highly recommend

I’ve been to this pub many times however today was disastrous, while we were waiting for our food to come out, we could all smell excrement. We started looking at our shoes and then finally I told the waitress and she said move tables. Straightaway when we moved across, she opened up just by the table, a small manhole in the restaurant and proceeded to pour boiling water down there and then spray it so they’ve obviously got an issue with the plumbing. There was no sorry that we had to all move only a look of distain from the server , the waitress was borderline rude. We had to keep asking for things. Nobody came over to see if the food was okay which it was. Only to then be giving quite simply unconvincing explanation why by the proprietor when I decided to actually go back and complain about our experience, I’m incredibly disappointed because it’s not often I spend time with my daughters and son-in-law. I’m most certainly will not be going back again simply by the attitude which is a shame because the food is good .

I ordered pad ki mao ( king of stir frys £15.95. I was very disappointed 😞 small bowl of rice. Very small dish of supposed stirfry. Had 2 prawns one very small piece of beef and the rest seemed to be onions swimming in soy sauce. Not value for money Shame as was lovely service and atmosphere.

Update 05/11/23 Best ever visit ! Obviously it's been good before or I wouldn't have gone back time and time again. Service was really good, I got everything I asked for, how I asked for it (had snags in the past, got there in the end), the waitresses were really good, bright, nice personality, tidy. Food was as good as ever. Slight menu change surprised me, I was asked if I wanted egg noodles or rice noodles with my "king of stir frys" - it never came with either before so I always used to order mixed stir fried vegetables and the chilli garlic green beans (I still did). Very nicely presented - should've taken a photo ! I don't live nearby or I'd visit more often. 20/09/2022 First visit : Would go again ! I was a bit puzzled on entry - was expecting a 'traditional' Thai - nope, it's a classic English pub that does Thai food (very well). Good service from our bright, personable waiter 'humps' (Humphrey), delicious food cooked the way I asked for it - what more could I want ? Update 24/10/22: I went again a couple of weeks ago - service not quite as good as my first visit - bit slow and one of my side dishes wasn't what I ordered, but it was nice so I kept it. Still left a tip tho !

It ok but nothing special, and I didn’t feel the veg was the freshest. Service was a little slow too, I was excited to try as it had been recommended but no where near as good as expected.

Went here recently for lunch, delicious food, freshly cooked generous portions, very welcoming staff, we'll definitely be back.

We went to the Fox for dinner, and had another lovely meal, I cannot rate it highly enough, the food and the service is really good. We have only been twice recently and we will definitely be back.

Excellent Thai food and service. Pub was welcoming and the staff very professional and friendly. Well behaved dogs welcomed and encouraged and there’s a huge jar of doggie treats on the side of the bar for 4-legged friends. Not the first time we’ve been and each time it has always exceeded our expectations. A hidden gem in the countryside.

Can I say wow! The food was amazing! We had a really nice shared starter then I had the Green Thai curry which was absolutely fantastic! Honestly the best I've ever tasted! Really good service as well. Thankyou we will be back 😊

I was passing the Fox and decided to pay a visit as it was around dinner time. Had an excellent Thai stir fry. Service was both fast and friendly, and the food was very reasonably priced. Would definitely go back.

Have eaten here lots over the last 12 months and everytime i have had something different from the menu! Always full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Friendly Staff and great atmosphere.

Would of been 5 stars it wasn't for the lack of service. Food was fantastic although our order got mixed up once it finally arrived, the drinks took a long time to come and once gone we gave up on ordering more as the staff wasn't very attentive. We would go back though and hopefully get better service next time.

Not what it once was. Used to travel 35 minutes to come here as the honey roast duck was great. Sadly it falls short of what used to be served. Service is still good, but with the cost of living going up, I struggle to justify £20 (when prompted to add a 10% tip) for the honey roast duck. The rest of the menu didn't quite live up to expectations either. Just very overpriced for what they serve. I get that pubs are struggling to stay open, but guests are also struggling to eat out and expect that extra mile when they do.

Excellent and delicious Thai food

Fantastic pub with delicious and authentic Thai food. Really lovely atmosphere with brilliant staff. Mixed starter for 2 was perfect shared between 4 as main portions are very generous. All the mains were amazing, especially love the king prawn laksa. Couldn't ask for more & will definitely be back again soon. Take away service is always very good too.

First time visit for us. We visited on a Thursday for a special occasion. The atmosphere was perfect, the food was outstanding and the service was faultless. The team welcomed us and the owner took time to come to our table and talk to us. We will definitely be back!

Probably one of the best places to eat in Andover, especially if you like a cosy pub and lovely Thai food.

Been here several times now with my brother. Yet again, we have had a wonderful lunch with superb friendly service and very helpful advice with what dishes to choose. Never fails to impress. Portion sizes are so generous and the spicing can be tweaked to suit personal preference. Thank you. Just such a shame I live so far away from it !

Expected a fairly quiet pub/restaurant the evening before New Year's Eve but the Fox was busy and justifiably so. Super, authentic Thai food - big portions thus good value - in a relaxed environment with attentive service, both at the bar and once seated. Not been for a long time but the food is better than ever and the welcome just as warm so can't recommend strongly enough. Ollie

Lovely date night spent at The Fox! We shared a beautiful starter board where the team were more than willing to adapt several elements for us. Lovely main meal and beautiful wine! Our new favourite place to eat.

Have eaten great Thai food all over the world, from beach cafes in Krabi, to incredible salads and curries at The Smoking Goat. The offering at The Fox gets nowhere near 5 star. From tiny portions of egg fried rice which had clearly been cooked before, put in small pots, chilled and then microwaved to order (trust me I cook enough fried rice to know the difference) to the lack of a decent extractor fan which means that if you sit anywhere near the kitchen you spend the night 'enjoying' the stink of their deep fat fryer permeating your clothes, while heating frozen squid etc. I was really looking forward to eating out here and now it's just another on my list of restaurants I would avoid. Quite how you make a Thai red curry with chicken that is so bland and chewy, I do not know. Great response from the restaurant as well. True pros!

My partner and I had a mid-week supper at the Fox on Wednesday. The staff were just so attentive and exceptionally friendly (in a genuine way) and the Thai food out of this world. With a lovely log burner (that was replenished regularity) the ambience was just super! Would highly recommend; the food really is divine!

Impossible to get through on the telephone to book a table . Tried numerous times during the week. The system then automatically redirects you to a very painful booking on telephone system where you elect a time set in 15 min slots. You chose a slot, it then says nope busy try another, so you try another and 5 goes later it says nope you can’t have that time. As a busy person I found the whole experience a total waste of my time and won’t be trying to book again. It’s a shame as the food is lovely at The Fox and have been several times over the years, but I’m sorry unless you change the crap booking system and start answering the phone we won’t be going again for the forseable. My time is too precious than to waste on the booking system or trying to get a response from a pub.. a shame.

This was our first visit here . Thai menu is extensive and food is just wonderful . Nice selection of puddings too. Chicken satay very tasty and generous portion .

I booked this pub for meeting some friends I had not seen for over 3 years. We were allocated a table for 1 hr 15 mins. Nowhere near enough time to select our food, have it served, eat it and catch up with my friends. I hate being under pressure to gulp my food and leave the table so sadly I cancelled and have booked an alternative pub in the area.

Friday night was packed. We booked ahead as it was a family celebration. One of the chefs was absent, so we were told service was slow. We accepted that, but we were shocked to find that when we ordered at around 8:15pm, our mains didn't arrive until around 10pm. The staff were apologetic and arranged for a free round of drinks. However, the food was incredibly bland. Some of us struggled to finish it, and at nearly 10pm just wanted to leave anyway. Considering it amounted to nearly £100, even with the free round of drinks taken into consideration, it was nowhere near value for money. The Old House at Home in nearby Overton is much better. Shan't be coming again.

Beautiful traditional pub with a twist of thai food. Had the med mamung chicken stir fry and some tofu pad thai and it was all very delicious, so much so we took our leftovers home. Good sized portions of food. Staff were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere of the pub was good. Definitely worth a visit.

My favourite Thai food place in the whole of Hampshire. The food has great flavour and taste. My husband loves it to. Would 1000000% recommend it no doubt.

Went to The Fox last night for the first time after hearing some great things about it. It certainly lived up to and exceeded expectations! The food was fantastic, the staff were all so friendly and accommodating and we will definitely be back. Sad it took us so long to discover

We booked a table for four and were met by young pleasant staff. We all shared a mixed starter platter for four which was reasonably tasty but not exceptional. I ordered Ayam Lamb with Jasmine rice and potatoes at a cost of around £20 and enjoyed the meal. Another of our party enjoyed their meal. However the other two had Pad Thai, one a vegetable dish, and the other a seafood mix. They both said that there was not enough sauce and was very average. The seafood mix consisted of two slices of undercooked squid, two prawns and two mussels and a bowlful of noodles. We complained to the young lad who said ‘no problem’ and when paying the young lady said she would pass the message on. No refund was offered so we won’t be returning. The restaurant had been highly recommended but we left disappointed.

We were in the area about a month ago, staying with our daughter and her husband who live fairly nearby. As it was my husband's birthday, we sorted out a babysitter for the grandchildren and all went out to The Fox. What a fabulous place! We were given a very warm welcome by the landlord and the staff and shown to our reserved corner table. We had starters and a main course. Can't quite remember what we all had now, apart that my main course was something sizzling. All the food was really good, tasty and hot, served on hot plates. We all enjoyed the food immensely. Top class service! Our daughter has an allergy to shellfish so she let the kitchen know, just to be on the safe side, and everything was just so, no problem at all. Because it was my husband's birthday - my son in law had mentioned this in passing - the landlord - he's a lovely guy - organised it that my husband be brought a vanilla ice-cream with a sparkling candle. Nice touch that. Would definitely come back here to eat. It was very busy that Friday night. I'd like to visit on a weekday lunchtime. One day hopefully.

Great Service, Very Good Food this is a very well run restaurant and Pub. It was a happy place to eat as everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and smiling including the staff who made the occasion memorable for all 14 of us

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Fox Inn this afternoon. The last serving us was very friendly and we didn’t have to wait too long for our starters and mains to arrive, all of which was absolutely delicious. The only thing that was slightly off for us was being offered water for the table and then being charged for it. £3.60 for a big bottle. This may be usual for some restaurants but we would have been more than happy with tap water! We will know for next time to specify tap water, we just thought it was a bit cheeky. Would absolutely recommend for the food and service however!
