I came here for an early Sunday morning car event and was greeted with a great coffee and lovely bacon and sausage roll at 8:30. A good crowd of people and some interesting cars on show.

Went for Friday lunch, tempted by the Fish&Chips Friday special (2 portions for £20) but went for the venison/beef burger...wasn't disappointed! Won't be needing dinner 😊 Friendly staff, nice cosy atmosphere with wood fire.

Have visited The Lion a number of times for both food and casual drinks and had a great experience every time. The food is all freshly cooked, generous portions and very tasty! I often struggle to get through 3 courses but very worth it! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

Always fantastic food and lovely location, only slightly too long to wait to order drinks though. A well deserving destination for the discerning customer.

Lovely Sunday lunch today, only issue was the waiter took a while to bring the gravy, telling us he had other things to do. Will go back to try other food on the menu.

Out of 12 of us that had a Sunday dinner 9 of us got severely ill.

Lovely staff and great beer. The single chef did really well getting out to all the food out to our table of 7. All hot and tasty.

Had a wonderful meal at the Lion today for Mother’s Day. Have visited on a few occasions previously with friends and the food has been spot on each time but today was especially lovely for Mother’s Day, celebrating with my own family as well as my parents. A full and very busy restaurant and still such a pleasant relaxed atmosphere and beautifully cooked very tasty food. Your staff are a real credit to you also. We all genuinely enjoyed every meal - some top compliments from the kids too ‘5/5 mum, leave them a review!’ The puddings were the cherry on the top. Thank you very much for a lovely lunch, I hope you all had a restful evening after a busy day!

Very nice food. Had the apricot and goat's cheese roast on sunday very nice, good servxe and good size serving too. 100% would recommend. Also saw some horses that were next door

Food absolutely lovely. So tasty. Nothing too much trouble and the serving team's attention, second to none, even 'tho there were two large parties to serve at the same time.

First time visit to the lion for dinner hence will also be my last. Food is overrated as is their service. Rude arrogant staff when they are approached about their food. I’ve noticed they will answer back reviews with the same attitude not being able to take any negative feedback. They try to cover there tracks with all negativity by trying to have a tactful answer to any customer whom dare make criticism about there food/service. Our friend approached them about our meal to be met by arrogance.

We had a family dinner here on a Wednesday night and were surprised at how busy it was. However the service was good and the food was very good. We had a selection of mains and desserts between the 7 of us - every plate was cleared!

Booked for parents' anniversary party and could not have asked for better. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the food (hot buffet) was enjoyed by everyone. The pub is lovely and although in the countryside is within surprisingly easy reach of the A303. Thanks so much for all the effort you put into making it such a special day for them.

Local venison steak, amazing ! Perfectly cooked vegetables . Duck Bon Bons to start with ,which had so much flavour. Great service as always. Really good atmosphere.

After an op and enforced isolation for over 3 weeks, a visit to The Lion (a treat from my family) was my first venture out. Boy was it good. I don't eat meat and I'm not really keen on meat loaf and the alternatives so the chef just cooked me veg, a Yorkshire and gravy and it was amazing.

Crowded around the bar that prevented people getting in and getting to the bar, very loud too. Would not have taken much to get people to move over and keep the noise down! Shame as otherwise a great place

Family birthday , Sunday lunch for 9 of us, have been here before and had an amazing pork roast so went back, sadly roast wasn't great only had lamb and beef on menu so chose the beef, very dissatisfied only 2 small slices of beef and not at all nice, very bland, can't fault the service though.

We had a lovely beef roast dinner, butternut squash resoto and a beef and venison burger. For dessert we had sticky toffee pudding. We will certainly go back when in the area.

Again an excellent visit to what is our favourite little hide away dining location. We have been visiting the Lion for going on 4 years and not once had a bad experience, meal or service. We believe this is a must visit for a meal. We took friends here this week and again all had a great experience.

We caught the last bit of sunshine sat in the garden at The Lion this evening. The service was fantastic. The starters were particularly stunning. We often order calamari and garlic prawns when we eat out but these were some of the best we’ve ever tasted. The fillet steak was delicious and the accompanying wine was fantastic too. We will be back very soon!

Fabulous country pub - friendly atmosphere, great good and service. A wonderful find.

Impromptu visit for lunch after a long drive. Although late, we were able to have a meal in this atmospheric pub/restaurant. Had been once before and the food was as good as previously. Food came quickly, it was really tasty and hot. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming. Plenty of parking.

Last minute booking and managed to get a table with the dog. Again great food this is by far my favourite place to eat. The staff are first class and food is second to none.

A lovely pub / restaurant...comfortable and cozy environment mixing contemporary and traditional styles... Mains courses were simple and sensibly priced- with gluten free options clearly marked, which helps fussy individuals like myself! Food was good and Service was excellent from 2 friendly waitresses,hence the 5 stars. I have met the owners previously and they clearly have trained their staff well - which makes a huge difference! Will be returning soon.

The Red Lion ,Clanville has restored my faith in local pubs. Andover has become the poor house in hospitality these days. Many, in the Hospitality sector suffer from staff shortage and indifferent service. Tthis can not be said for the Red Lion.. This was our second vist, and we shall return.

Very helpful staff went out of their way to help us when my friend collapsed in the restaurant. Couldn't have been more supportive. This was much appreciated and they deserve a round of applause for going the extra mile.

Only had a drink while on a bike ride, but the pub was clean, food smelt nice and it was busy.

This beautiful pub/ restaurant is only a mile away from me, went to their car meet last week which was so good met some lovely people. So for my birthday went for Sunday lunch, so glad we did food was perfect, garden setting lovely. Service was prompt and felt so welcome. It’s my new local ❤️

A nice country pub with good seating inside and out. Limited menu for vegetarians. Service was very slow. Admittedly we arrived early for our booking but waited over an hour for our food. Enjoyed what we ordered.

We went to The Lion with friends for the Driven not Hidden breakfast car meet. The event was very well organised with a fast services for coffee! (Something that there is usually a big cue for!) bacon sandwiches were well priced with good quality bacon...

Went there for Easter Sunday late roast lunch. Probably one of the worst roast dinners I've ever had. Raw beef and the lamb was just pure fat and no meat ,dry potatoes , 1/4 carrot 1/4 parsnip with loads of fill the plate cabbage ....

Atmosphere seemed unfriendly when we called in for a drink/visit.

First time at the lion , Saturday night and we arrived a little early showed to the table , service was precise and friendly Menu is small but adequate, food was seasonal and we all enjoyed all courses, poached eggs were a little over cooked...

Excellent Sunday Roast all cooked on the premises. Excellent roast beef and all the trimmings. Very friendly and attentive staff. Very good Malbec. I wood definitely recommend if you want a home cooked Sunday lunch.

I visited this pub with a walking group and they prepared meals for about 12 of us. Enjoyed the meal immensely with great ambiance.

We had the most delicious lunch for our family today - all 27 of us. The food was amazing - best pub roast dinner ever. Service excellent. So friendly and welcoming. It’s our second time here to meet up and we will definitely back. Thank you!

We had a family lunch today for 30 of us the food and service was exceptional we were given the conservatory to ourselves all the food was hot and the roast dinner one of the best I have had out. I would highly recommend this is the third occasion and been excellent on each time.

Stumbled across this lovely pub after spending a long time stuck in traffic on the A303. Food started at 6 and arrived just 15 minutes later. Freshly cooked gf fish and chips are hard to find. Chips were extremely chunky but wonderfully fluffy on the inside. Fish was complimented by homemade tartare sauce. There were also 3 gf deserts available. We shared a fruity crumble with ice cream. Again, very delicious, just like you'd make at home.

A very nice meal first class and staff and service was very good a lovely meal was had by all.

Says kitchen open till 4 on Sundays when should say kitchen closes at 330.

My food was delicious, the mushroom tagliatelle but the atmosphere was rather cliquey not as welcoming and friendly as I'd hoped.

Booked lunch here very last minute as another pub had let us down for a family meet up. Difficult to find a pub open all day so I was glad to find this one.. fabulous food, friendly staff, great atmosphere. I can recommend the Beef & Venison burger and Eton Mess which were top class! We shall definitely be back at some point!

Scrumptious meals cooked from scratch in this picturesque country pub. I highly recommend the rack of ribs (slow cooked for added tenderness), chicken schnitzel with parmisan sauce, fresh pizza and home made cheesecake. Best to book as the lion is very popular, esp for Sunday lunch.
