Nice quiet location, good for excursions in the area, staff is not very friendly, rooms are small, room cleaning is not done properly, no air conditioning, so hot and stuffy. Stink from the kitchen exhaust and sewer in the room, breakfast always the same with little choice. Too expensive!

Pet friendly establishment, well worth the short drive out of Barry. We arrived at about 8.20, kitchen was closing but they said they would keep it open - glad they did. We ate from across the menu, ribs, burger, beef brisket, hake, lasagne and swordfish, all excellently cooked with a good range of accompaniments. Good range of drinks and lovely atmosphere. Would definitely visit again.

Lovely pub with a huge play park at the rear beer garden with plenty of swings slides and climbing frames. Inside is a very big soft play area which can be used when ordering food. There are limited tables in the soft play area but plenty in the main part of the pub. The food was reasonably priced and good. It’s the first time we had been there but would definitely go again. There are rooms as well and so plenty of people staying there.

A bit off the main street, we had a late lunch of steak pie, chips, peas and gravy. All homemade, big portions and well worth the money. Good quality food too. We visited this pub on 4th February 2024, as we were looking for a spot of lunch and watch some jolly good football. Prior to booking we called and asked if they Sky Sports, a lady answered and said yes, upon arrival there was no Sky Sports. A small mistake. We were then greeted by some fool, who said we couldn't sit in certain areas of the pub as they were "reserved", when 60% of the pub was empty. The male waiter made us move to a seating area with uncomfortable chairs, and 2 of us had to face away from the TV (he really didn't want us there). The vibe was just off, the way he spoke was condescending and lacked eye contact when he spoke to any of us. We saw this same waiter smiling and having a laugh with other customers 30 seconds later, so he couldn't of been having a bad day. We asked for his assistance again, just in case there was a misunderstanding, but again he spoke to us in a condescending way, and avoided any eye contact. As a brown person, we were definitely treated differently, so we left after being there for 10 minutes.

Waited an hour for food. 4 chicken gounjons (which weren't homage) with I tiny pot of sweet chilli sauce for £8. Not worth it. Tasteless and bland linguine with dry garlic bread. My partner had Steak and rib combo medium rare (Came out well done) Ribs dry with lack of bbq sauce. Over cooked chips. (Starch hadn't been washed off before cooking) pepper corn sauce had a layer of oil on top. ( not been skimmed) meals brought out with no cutlery or condiments. No check back to see if meal was OK. Definitely won't be back. Disappointed with our experience.

Extremely friendly service, quaint location. Lots of character to the room. Staff went above and beyond for our stay. Best highlight was the absolutely delicious breakfast made from locally sourced ingredients. The quality was unmatched. Only criticism is that walls can be a little thin and it was a little tricky to stay next to an infant and a gentleman who had a habit of dry heaving in the morning.

Easy distance from Cardiff, Barry and various local attractions like St Fagins and Castell Coch, set in lush rolling farmland hills. Gorgeous well appointed room. Small but well proportioned. Immaculately clean. Friendly staff who made us feel welcome. And the food was excellent. I deduct one star from the room as to the back of us was the continual sound of some sort of mechanical thing. My partner wasn’t in the least bit bothered by this and slept soundly but it bugged me - Presumably the hotels refrigerator and freezer?. Earplugs the second night took care of that and ensured a good nights sleep. There are some good walks too from the hotel itself though if recommend bringing a map paper or electronic with you as the tiny nearby villages don’t come with signs. I would absolutely stay there again.

Lovely night stay at the three Horseshoes. Travelling for work, it was 5 minutes from the airport. Cozy room, friendly staff. Bed was comfortable, no issues with noise and lovely breakfast. Only issue was there was quite a bit of dust gathering on the coat hanger and other bits nothing that couldn’t be cleared quite quickly. Extra brownie points for milk portions! Nothing more irritating than having 6 coffee sachets and then just 2 milk portions! Well done for the extra milk!

I came here as a party of 24, there was 6 children… all children had there meals brought out. An one child’s food wasn’t brought out for another 20 minutes. By then the other children had finished an wanted to go and play. Also one adult meal had a twig in it, an the restaurant refused to do anything about it, another adult meals chicken was RAW and again they refused to do anything about it and got told there was no one authorised to do a refund. I think it’s absolutely disgusting that we’ve come as a party of 24 for a 30th birthday and have been disregarded and told there’s nothing they can do to compensate. Never again will I visit here.

My self, my wife and two year old toddler stayed here twice, on the way from the fishguard ferry and on the return journey 5 days later. When we arrived, we were greeted by a lovely man, very welcoming, showed us to our roo explained about the doors and gate being locked which we both thought was odd. We were happy with room as is was very spacious for our toddler to run around in with the travel cot we brought, the bathroom was very tight however. We asked for this room again if possible for the return journey. We stayed for dinner and it was excellent, food was hot and not too long of a wait for which I would never mind for good food. I had the fillet steak which is my favourite and only steak I'll eat. The menu states that's its only cooked rare and my god you can see why when it's cooked that way. Cook it my self the same way, 10/10 to the chef. We were driving from fishguard to London and its worth the detour for the steak alone. My smalie and wife's food were spot on too. Full marks. Breakfast next morning was good too, the lady who served us was pleasant and interactive with our toddler, you could see she was used to kids and when we had a hicup with cheese on the breakfast omelet she corrected it straight away, no fuss. Left very happy. The return journey was sightly different however, we got a phone call enquiring on what time we thought we'd besarrivingbat, which eas very nice to see them checking on the guests requirements prior to arrival. Nice touch. When we arrived a Sunday evening, you could see they were busy, we got the same room again as requested and happy with that. We booked for dinner but there was no fillet stake on the menu, I asked the waitress I'f she could check sith the chef which she did but there was none there only strip lion as per the menu. So instead or the stake I order ordered the roast of the day, Lamb which she looked some what dismayed by. My family ordered what they wanted and in about 20 odd minutes it arrived. The families food was was grand but mine was luke warm to cold. The lamb was cool, veg was cold, patotes luke warm. The waitress was busy taking orders and so much time had passed that I just ate it. At no point did she return to Check if the food was OK or we needed anything. You could see she didn't give a s#@t. Congratulations you went from 10/10 with the steak to 0/10 for serving cold food and poor to zero customer engagement effort. When we got back to the bedroom, both my wife and my self burnt our left leg/knee from the towel rad suitated right next to the toilet, we thought this was a poor judgment but when our toddler grabbed the towel rail and burnt his hand, this needs to be resighted else where. Then our lovely neighbour next to us started watching an action movie until after 11,bit challenging when ur trying to get a smallie off to sleep and when we thought these rooms were sound proofed. left dissapointed from the food on the second night and safety concerns on the towel rail.

Adult meals are abit pricey, but that's expected for what your paying for your taking children. £10 per kid (we had 3) for soft play, amazing meal and incredible flavoursome ice cream! The ladies in charge was abit on the moody side ,but that's expected considering they had their hands full. But they were still amazing and were on what ever you needed! As a regular visitor to this place I was left deeply upset on my last visit because of staff attitude. As a large group with no booking, I turned up 4pm politely asking if there’s any availability. There were plenty of empty tables and 2 tables had families/children sat at them. The man greeted us sat us down no problem. He then came to take orders, I ordered drinks and adult food starters, but asked if I could wait 45 mins to put kids orders in. (One kid on medication needed with food so needed to hold off a bit). I was shocked that the man said I need to order straight away as our table will be needed soon as it’s going to get really busy. He was very cocky saying he’ll come back in 2 mins to take kids orders. He brought drinks we just ordered, got his pen out and demanded to take kids orders, again saying remarks implying we need to hurry up, eat, leave. I reiterated I will be ordering kids meals but can he please wait. I asked how long have we got the table for (incase it was reserved later) he mumbled a reply but I think he said 2 hours (until 6pm). I assured I’ll be ordered before our exit at 6pm, he still complained how he needs us to eat and move on as it’s going to be really busy! I got very upset, I felt so awkward, I lost my appetite and did not want mains. We would have left as we were made to feel like we had to rush off and leave. We usually relax and buy drinks but didn’t want to do this even, so made my bill as small as possible. Would have left it kids enjoy playing in play barn. I approached a waitress and told her I’m upset and she was lovely, and I used her to take my kids food orders. She assured me I can order whenever I want and there’s no rush. 6pm came, the pub was EMPTY! Our table was not reserved. Which I found quite shocking that this man portrayed people would be scrambling for tables! Awful. There was one very grumpy old man serving at the bar who was awfully rude to me few weeks back. And he never smiles and don’t look like he likes people or life in general. As a regular customer paying overpriced prices to go there, this service is shocking. Thank god for the few staff that are friendly, it seems they know what the above staff are like and are used to complaints.

We stayed at the Three Horseshoes Country Inn many times over the summer for work and we were always welcomed and always enjoyed our stay. The rooms are all really nice in our experience, having stayed in several different rooms over the course of the summer. Very comfortable beds, nicely decorated and furnished rooms, peaceful location, we slept very well. We would often arrive after dinner service but they were always very accommodating and would rustle us something up or would take an order phoned through on our journey over from Barry. The location is perfect for getting into Barry, ideally close and also lovely to be in the countryside. The staff were always great, particularly one young gentleman who I wish I could recall his name; he went above and beyond in customer service. The 3 women behind the bar were brusque and dour-faced. When I asked for a Campari and soda, the barmaid served it in a half pint glass topped up to the brim with soda. I said, I’m sorry but that’s not quite right, could you please put a measure of Campari in a glass with a splash of soda? The second attempt was again served in a half pint glass, this time a measure of Campari with a thimbleful of soda. Why the girl didn’t put the Campari in a glass and just ask me how much soda I wanted is beyond me. So I asked nicely if she could add a splash more soda. She did so whilst completely blanking me and asking another customer what she could get him. The whole ordeal was painful and as she was unfriendly and humourless, rather embarrassing. For this appalling lack of customer service and a pint of lime and soda, I was charged a scandalous £6.80. Train your staff to interact with their customers and tell them that a smile goes a long way!
