Three Horseshoes in Huntingdonshire

Popped in for a quick bite after footy. Unfortunately there was no food on the go that day which was disappointing, hence the score as obviously we weren't able to comment on food due to this. Managed to have some pretty tasty crisps that were recommended by the bar though! The pub had a homely local vibe to it, but we were welcomed well, even finding football on the TV for my son was a nice touch of attention as he was in his kit! Will have to go back to sample the food now.

The food is excellent. Place almost empty, which is a shame as the staff are welcoming and friendly. Large outdoor area with tables etc and facilities for children. We went on a Friday evening, so I don't understand why it was so quiet! However, we enjoyed our meal, which was reasonably priced.

Enjoyed a lovely meal here this afternoon. We had a burger and the chicken shish...both spot on, plenty of it combining quality and quantity with lovely presentation. Two Nice indoor bar areas, clean fresh and modern restaurant area and fabulous bear garden which was very family and dog friendly!! Will be a firm weekend favourite with us!

Great food and attentive staff. Will go again if they fix one problemb. The door to the resturant from the rest room area is annoyingly loud when it closes with a loud bang. Please fix before our next visit as I will be taking my elderly in laws out for a evening meal. Thank you for listening.

Just had a lovely meal here tonight. The new menu is BANGING! We had the sharing platter for two and it was amazing. Great service and lovely food.

Been going here a lot recently and the the results are class. Possibly the best I’ve seen in a a long time. The quick customer service is top form and the staff are very friendly happy to call this my main local

If you like Aunt Bessie’s and Smash this place is for you!! However for £12 you can have a fine dining experience complete with a soggy Yorkshire ,dry chicken breast topped off with some peas that emulate the texture of rabbit droppings. Would 10/10 not recommend! Feeling ripped off!

Has so much potential which right now is not being fulfilled.

My friend and I went here on a rather cold and rainy night last month on a Thursday. We went in and ordered our drinks and chatted a while one of the lovely bar staff named Tabitha whom made us both feel really welcome. The drinks we ordered were both soft drinks and were a reasonable price. We then had a look at the menu and sat at a very clean table. They have an offer on 2 steaks for £30 including a bottle of wine. So we asked to replace the wine with our drinks. We were both asked for our preferences on how the Steak were to be cooked. "Sublime" is the only word I can use to describe my steak, served with option choice of chips, mash or jacket potato mushy peas, garden peas or salad. It was wonderful. The restaurant area was quite, but the decor made up for it as it has pictures from 100 years plus of Yaxley life. Modern & relaxing areas and a pool room next to Bar, but away from the restaurant. Wheelchair access via a side door situated in the car park area. Dog friendly. I decided to have a dessert, and chose a Sticky Toffee pudding, but alas this must be very popular they had none left, so opted for a waffle with Vanilla ice cream and Toffee sauce (LUSH 😁). Well worth going in and sampling their delights and awesome cooking and very polite and friendly. staff.

The Three Horseshoes, Yaxley was the venue we chose to hold our party after after having our children Christened. Brad was great at communicating with me and my partner, ensuring dietary requirements were met. When we arrived, we had our own section of the pub, the food was out and was just perfect for a party of 35 people with a great selection including party bags for the kids. They also put out the decorations for us and tidied up too! Great service at the bar with little waiting around. The kids were able to charge around the garden on the climbing frame. 10/10 and will absolutely be looking to hold more functions there!

I found the staff very unwelcoming and the food my son ordered unless cooked by the qualified chef the chicken strips were very over cooked and dry. When i ordered a baguette it comes toasted with no butter on to moisten the lunch. Very disappointing but can only hope they improve

Absolutely loved the roast we had here. Such a bargain and really tasty. The chef was extremely accommodating to the fact that I was vegetarian and gave me a choice of options. The bar staff were really friendly. A real highlight to our weekend away.

So glad this lovely quaint village pub has reopened. The staff were friendly and the food was really good. We went on a quiet night but this place has boundless potential if people support it. Thank you new owners and good luck.

Me and my fiancee were hoping to have a little dinner party at the pub after our wedding ceremony so we went for a drink. We talked to the girl working at the bar. She took our details and told us that Manager will get in touch with us next day. We rung twice since then (more than a week ago) and he is always busy apparently and couldn't be bothered to contact us. So unprofessional

Went there just for drinks, the table was sticky and the chairs were terribly loose, I was afraid they were going to break. A bit more cleaning and tidying up the loose chairs and tables would probably help. LE: It was in the restaurant area

27/04/23 called in for a quick beer - it's only been re-opened for a short time with new owners/management. Welcoming atmosphere. Menu looks reasonably priced and a dozen or so people were eating so I'll hopefully be returning to try the food soon.

Attended a gig by P Town Funk at this place, who were fantastic. The pub itself is really cosy and the owners are fabulous. Only tried a little food and it was good, but didn't eat probably so can't comment. Bar prices very reasonable, however will take one star off as it got quite hot inside ( no Aircon?) and drink selection was rather limited

Amazing Thai food! We came for Sunday lunch expecting a roast dinner, but found the restaurant part of the pub had recently changed hands and is now ‘Taste of Thailand’. We were initially confused as their website has not been updated yet, but we’re delighted in the end as the food was outstanding. Beautifully made, freshly prepared, and utterly delicious with just the right amount of heat. Service was good and very friendly and the head chef came out to chat with us after our meal. We found out they had only been running 5 days, but you wouldn’t have known it from the quality of the food that came out. I cannot recommended it enough!

Staff and customers seemed friendly as mentioned in many other reviews, and I’m sure this would be a great place to go for a pint, but I cannot in any way recommend the food. The website shows a gourmet-style menu with appealing options but the reality is a chalkboard next to the bar with just 3 items on it. The wait for food was completely reasonable but when it arrived it was mostly awful, I think the only item with any taste and not over/under cooked was the gravy! Left feeling pretty disappointed and a bit ripped-off, could do with a lot of work. I gather from other reviews that it changed ownership a couple of years ago, but to me it had the feel of somewhere that isn’t quite up and running yet - eg. I was asked for a table number to order, but the tables didn’t have numbers, everything behind the bar seemed chaotic although it was relatively empty, no menus whatsoever, we were told by a server that the chef had forgotten to order something so the food was going to be delayed, etc.

Ran put of ALL wine,bar staff very unhelpful,outside area needs TLC.Will not return in a hurry.

My son and family had invited me to join them for Sunday lunch…after waiting for our food for an hour, we were told that they had lost the order…even tho they had told us twice that it was on its way!! I would avoid this place at all costs

We went today for the first time while on our way back from Peterborough, we had a flat tyre and needed help, everyone was so helpful and checked there cars to see if they had what we needed change the tyre , we sat and had food and drinks while waiting for RAC then one of the gentleman has what we needed which was brilliant plus RAC arrived…. We couldn’t believe how everyone was so friendly and couldn’t do enough to help us and made us feel so welcome , what could of been so stressful wasn’t due to you all thank you again we will definitely be coming back … Terry & Lynsey

We came to the pub for my birthday meal and must say I left disappointed. What on earth are the cardboard boxes that our meal was served in? Also as for the cardboard cutlery.. that is just ridiculous! Portion sizes were poor. There was a mix-up with our order, we all got our meals bar one person.. we asked the waitress twice and were told both times it was in the oven. 35mins later, we had all finished our meals and we still had one pizza missing!!!. Pizzas overall were lovely though.

Food absolutely excellent, good beer, nice airy pub with great beer garden & a pool table & to top it off very efficient staff. Altogether a very enjoyable experience.

Basic pub with basic food, grubby pub garden paper plates and throw away cutlery.

We popped in to see the Palmy Ukulele band over the Jubilee weekend and they were terrific. A huge mixture of old and new tunes that they wanted you to sing-along with.

Went back after playing football. Friendly staff, reasonably priced drinks. Nice and tidy. Didn't have any food but it smelt delicious!

Lovely home cooked food at reasonable prices.

We arrived one member of staff was vaping behind the bar. Another eating a packet of crisps in between serving. No one was helpful when we asked where to sit for food. Went to bar to be served, all staff were talking amongst themselves. It took another member of staff to acknowledge we were there. Ordered food & drink. Sat for ages waiting. Was told a couple of times they were sorry but busy. Then told that one meal we had ordered there was only half a portion left. We asked for money back for the half portion and it took three members of staff to be able to refund us. Food was good when we eventually received it but no offer of any condiments to go with the meals.

Nine of us had lunch today, we all had different meals and tge food was amazing. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We will definitely be back. Thank you to the staff at Three Horseshoes.

I’d been looking forward to treating my mum to lunch at The Three Horseshoes and given the reviews decided to give it a try Sadly we were disappointed from start to finish - the table we sat on hadn’t been wiped down and was sticky from the previous visitors and there was no-one at the bar to welcome us,so we had to wait for someone to appear before going up to place our own order A pot of tea between us was plentiful -no one could mess that up at least but the food was a huge letdown I ordered a ham sandwich on brown and a slice of ‘cake of the week’ - at first the sandwich was made on white bread (which i sent back to be replaced, without much of an apology from the server), and the cake was dry and crumbly rather than being moist like a chocolate cake should be My mum ordered sausages & mash - the portion was flooded with wallpaper paste-thick gravy which wasn’t at all palatable and made it hard to eat We were never asked if the meal was ok when the table was cleared, although the server seemed to pick up on the 1/2 eaten meal - personally I felt that constructive feedback should have been welcomed but we weren’t given the opportunity to say anything so we left there disappointed with the whole £18 lunch and won’t be returning

this is a great pub. the food is good and very welcoming. i will be coming here alot from now on. a really nice place to be, oh and the staff are great.

Had Sunday lunch today, food was okay if you like dining with a DOG on the next table!!!! Yes a dog was eating out of a dog bowl, sitting on owners lap propped up at the table! Health & safety executive needs to take a visit 🤬

Lovely afternoon tea (for lunch) with friends last week. Great value for money and very tasty.

Went here for a birthday meal with my husband and daughter. We had a fantastic Sunday lunch cooked by Chef Ben. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and there was loads of it. Very good value for money. We will definitely make a return visit.

Visited the Three Horseshoes last Sunday for late lunch the meal was excellent, service by the staff was really good too.

Outside bar 'open' but not serving, no real signage of how to get to the bar ( just staff only' signs on the visible gates. No indication of whether it is table service ( it isn't you have to go to a tiny bar area to order) Beer fine, would have stayed for another but went elsewhere instead

I went for a date lunch with my partner to find that food wasnt being served. We stayed for a drink anyway and was shocked at the london prices in a country village pub. The landlord was unpleasant and aggressive and we over heard him telling a group on youngsters that he was going to "do someone over". We left our expensive pints and left. The pub was unclean, trashy, and dark. The garden was a mine field of dogs mess with two large dogs running round. I felt very uncomfortable. Imagine if the cast of shameless run a pub!

The food was okay but the owner/landlord was completely rude to not just me but his staff. Giving me a little off the bill in hoping I would look over him shouting at the the staff and shouting at a young girl who looks to be his partner. Went in to the men's toilets and what looked to be white powder around toilet. Not good sign doesn't feel much different to the old owners.

Went for a meal here on 5th December, a day after they reopened following what appears to have been a nightmare year for the owners. First coronavirus and then a flooding! Have to say that the food was absolutely superb. We had the Tagliatelle and Classic Beef Burger as mains and would recommend both. The homemade chips were lovely! Would also highly recommend the brownie for desert! Venue was also very well organised with the coronavirus restrictions in please. Clear instructions when walking in with hand sanitizer and NHS app check in. Also a really good app ordering system in place which worked without a hitch. Also a shout out to the staff who were friendly and efficient. We will be returning!

The whole pub/restaurant has been completely redone the decor is comfortable yet fresh and modern. The new owners and staff are friendly the new chefs food is delicious!!! Fine dining in Yaxley very happy and will definitely be going back!! Wish I had taken images to show you all. Completely different from the above!!!!!! Very clean and elegant. Food was delicious. Newly opened restaurant within the Three Horseshoes. Thursday is ‘posh night’ complete with gentle live music. Friendly place with excellent food, definitely a go to place for gastro pub food in the local area. Food was great, friendly relaxed atmosphere . Definitely worth a visit for a decent meal a notch above standard pub fare.

The landlord and landlady have made a bold decision, especially under present circumstances to open on Thursday evenings for a “posh” night. Three course meal, with fresh home cooked meals, tonight accompanied by an excellent singer/guitarist. The accent is on taking your time with as long (or as quick if you wish) as you like to enjoy the evening. The food was delicious well cooked and presented, the atmosphere a bit quiet, but improving! I would certainly recommend the scallops starter. The village needs a good restaurant and Dean deserves to succeed. Give it a try!

Food is of a very poor standard sadly. Macaroni cheese was tasteless, pie was chewy and reheated. Needs to be improved, massively

I came in today with my Nan and boyfriend and I used to come to this pub when I was younger and haven’t been in since I was about 10 years old when it was a proper pub. Wow can’t believe it’s the same place, firstly the decor is great a proper gastro pub vibe. And the food was literally faultless, I had the garlic mushrooms, hummus and hallucinations tapas style light bites and it was better than the cosy club. Really nice food and will deffo be returning

Great Sunday lunch. There was a good choice of tasty roasts together with a select few main meals. Good range to suit all tastes. Clean plates all round. Waiter and waitresses were attentive and kept re-ordering drinks. We are early in the service and it was getting quite busy by the time we finished. I would suggest booking in advance

Came in for a few bevvys, last orders at 10:30 out by 11 on a Saturday night, whats the point, stay at home

I have been here a few times.. Looks pretty, garden was very nice, dining area looked ok..However the pub was generally run down and dirty....Now it has re-opened with a new landlord..So apparently the pub had drug related problems...I went to the pub with my 3 sons and did not buy a drink..Instead we were greeted by the new landlord who laid down the law about this and that...Ok..!! Pool tables gone no sports etc.. We felt very un-comfortable and left after what seemed like an hour long lecture..Not the way to greet your customers...Not impressed with the stereo-typing, not the way forward...

The pub has changed ownership. Food options have changed recently, downwards. Just ok, if you are hungry.

First time going in there, beautiful pub, lovely welcoming staff, amazingly laid out with modern look and well looked after, if you want a hidden gem this is the place

Haven't been in this pub since it's refurb, it's all looking smartly redecorated now. The menu is small but well priced, I went for ham, egg and chips. The food and drinks took a while to arrive, apparently a new till was installed that day and it was proving problematic.The food was okay, the ham moist but the chips were soggy. Nothing special but good value.

A nice local pub. I went for a Sunday dinner and found the food to be nice. The only problem was the pool table was in the same place as the dining area so that caused a little bit of unwelcome noise.
