The drinks are amongst the most expensive in St Ives, but by far the lowest quality. Guinness isn't poured properly, they show a cocktail board, but nobody can actually make one; not even as simple as an Old Fashioned, and the garden was cleared by taking my half finished pint off me. I will not be returning.

this pub is great and has a great atmosphere. the dj was brilliant I had am amazing time. staff were funny professional and good at their job and good with customers. I will be thinking of making it my local like I did before because I loved staying there until it closed. what has made me happier is a chance they are going to do karaoke and my eyes lit up I love singing I will if I get a chance to sing to entertain the whole pub. I love trying anything once and can't wait to sing for the landlady and the whole pub. I hope they do it next Friday it will make Me happy and have enjoyment for everyone . a great pub thanks for last night it was memorable

Has reopened after a full refurbishment, now clean and inviting in looks. Sadly the place lacks any atmosphere and should struggle to justify it's prices. Also allows dogs in, dogs food and pubs don't mix in my opinion, so many people are allergic to them let people keep them at home.

Wow, what a fabulous transformation, so pleased this pub has got a new lease of life. The recent refurb is fantastic, the pub is bright clean and most of all welcoming! Great atmosphere and friendly staff, especially Nadine! Seen some sharing platters being served, looked amazing so will be trying them next time. Also lovely little garden with lots of seating! Definitely a great place to meet with friends and family.

I was shocked and stunned on Saturday 21st December, to see A customer be told by an established pub landlord she couldn’t drink there because she was a “stupid woman with a vagina”. Dave the landlord from the Royal Oak pub in St.Ives was in a heated debate when he said this but nonetheless an unforgivable comment in this day in age. When confronted by other patrons he continued to get more aggressive and even lunged at another female shouting in her face in a raised tone. Not a sight you wish to see at this festive time of year.

This is a boozer. It's run down & there's more effing & blinding than there ought to be, but that's half its charm :D It's an "old boys" pub. If you're not in that mix then it can seem aggressive & unfriendly. Can be a good crowd if you don't mind a bit of rough & tumble. Otherwise, give this a miss! It's definitely an acquired taste but luckily there's lots of choices of pubs in the town, something for everyone.

Visiting for the first time, this pub definitely shows it’s age and is in disrepair and quite shabby in places. For example, close to the bar, there’s a section of wallpaper completely come away. It’s saving grace ensuring it doesn’t get a two-star review is that there are televisions showing the football here and there’s a good selection of draught beers and ales ranging from San Miguel to Pilsner Urquell.

The toilets weren’t great but there was evidence of work being done to improve them There is an excellent range of drinks on offer at decent prices. This is an old fashioned English pub many of which have disappeared over recent years. Some people will hate it to be honest but I thought it was excellent

The Royal Oak could be do much better if they polished the apple and offered a better experience. This property is quaint but it lacks the personality that a good pubs needs. Some food selections might help especially on weekends but that does not appear to be an option. The bar staff lack energy and the loud background music make it difficult to enjoy a quiet conversation. The Royal Oak needs a renovation in both their property and attitude, This was a one-off visit for sure.

i have drank at this pub for quite a while being a local to the area, when i visited the pub i noticed that customers were not served in order of arrival when the landlord was on shift instead my males in increment of how attractive/ how regular they were and the same process would happen when the majority of the male customers were served ,when i challenged the landlord of his at the end of the night night i was accused of lying and seeking attention (as a current barmaid of one of the local bars for the past year i found this quite offensive) i had requested a civil private conversation with the landlord at closing where he continued to disrespect and invalidate my point of view further discriminating against which saying i was too young to have such a opinion.

Popped in for a quick bite after footy. Unfortunately there was no food on the go that day which was disappointing, hence the score as obviously we weren't able to comment on food due to this. Managed to have some pretty tasty crisps that were recommended by the bar though! The pub had a homely local vibe to it, but we were welcomed well, even finding football on the TV for my son was a nice touch of attention as he was in his kit! Will have to go back to sample the food now.
