Thoroughly recommend the fish, chips, mushy peas, tartare sauce and salad from the Light Bites lunchtime menu. Portion size great for two "oldies". Excellent friendly service, spotlessly clean.

Cold frosty night outside, nice and warm in the chippy😃. Lovely piece of HAKE in crispy batter and melt in the mouth chips. What better to warm you up on a cold Friday night. Make your way here :- dine in or take out it’s your choice. Lovely grub.

The loaded dirty chips are a must have in this friendly chip shop. Kelly our hostess was brilliant, she couldn’t do enough for us. As a table of seven with three well-behaved doggies, we spent an enjoyable Friday evening here. The food was freshly cooked to order, the portions are good, and the food delicious. We had a range of drinks from tap water to alcohol.

Came here after a day on the field with the Eisteddfod as we didn't feel like cooking. Pleasantly surprised to find some of the best fish and chips we have had in long time - including one sold by the coast. The batter was crispy and not greasy, the fish perfectly cooked and chips neither burnt nor undercooked. A small but significant point was that they put the vinegar on before the salt without asking. The range of additional foods served was significant ranging from the traditional pies to kebab style wraps and pizzas. The staff themselves were friendly and chatted about our visited to the town asking if we had enjoyed the "Maes" (Welsh Nickname for the Eisteddfod) and if we were staying locally or just visiting for the day.

The Llandovery Chip Shop Challenge is back ! Last December 2022 chips were bought from available takeaways in town. The chips were then unwrapped and put onto plates for the Scouts to taste and to vote. The Three Horseshoes were the WINNERS and the Scouts were invited back in January for a Presentation of a Certificate and a further sampling of the chips.

This is a friendly chippy which serves both take-away and eat-in. The portions are plentiful and the food is well cooked. Especially notable is that they also offer 'naked' cod, not cooked in batter.

Very busy Friday evening with everyone working flat out to serve the customers. Lovely scampi and chips with pie and chips for me. Well worth you visiting for a nice hot bundle of fish and chips. Well done all the the Three Horse Shoes.

Went out of their way to serve us, even came out with a bowl of water for the dogs. Husband gives 10 out of 10 for their curry and chips the best he has tasted. The fish was cooked perfectly. 2 cups of tea became a generous pot for two. Thank you lads you made a day out with our Aunt perfect

Great fish and chips. Friendly service and great value for money. The curry sauce was great. My girlfriend and I shared a cod and regular chips and battered sausage and that was enough for both of us.

Ordered takeaway from here and they were so helpful organising our delivery. It was delivered quickly, the food was hot and so tasty. Our 13 Yr old declared it was probably the best takeaway he had ever had! We were all very happy and full. We had chicken and mushroom pies, ham and mushroom pizza, double beef burger, and chips with curry sauce. When we next come back to visit we will definitely be ordering again. Thank you!

We are staying over just outside Llandovery. After a busy day, I Ordered over the phone on the way back to our accommodation. It was ready 20 minutes later when I turned up to collect them. Delicious large Cod portions, lovely white and flaky fish, with freshly cooked hot chips! Large portion that I just couldn’t finish. The best Fish and chips I’ve had in a long time! You can’t go wrong here, and if you prefer you can eat in, or on outside tables! Fully recommended! 👍👍👍

Ordered Scampi & Chips by phone, called in 15mins later , scampi was cooked and ready and chips freshly drained out of the fryer. The Three Horseshoes have been looking after the community during this pandemic with lovely tasty dishes and now as things are easing are busy with people visiting. It is not just a grab and go there is seating outside as well as a restaurant inside.

Delicious fish and chips delivered to the door. What more could you want? The online ordering system seems to assume that you want the delivery 60 minutes after you place the order, so you may need to ring up and change it. Otherwise, everything worked perfectly. We'd certainty buy fish and chips from here again if we're in the area.

This is a licensed restaurant and take away on the main road in Llandovery with outside seating. Parking is permitted on the road after 6pm. I had the chicken curry and chips for £8.95 and was neatly presented and tasty. Good service as well.

Chips undercooked still hard. Pie given to another customer by another server. So for £14 I reciever 3 portions of inedible chips, 1 microwave pie and 2 large sausage. Won't be going again. Not that it'll make a difference to the standards

Went to this shop around 2100 and ordered fish bites and chips twice. Took them home and they were absolutely awful, the chips had been warmed up and most of them were too hard to eat. The fish bites were no better, the batter was like iron and when we actually broke the batter you would need a magnifying glass to find the fish. Never again

We have been to the Three Horse Shoes on several occasions, but not for over three years. I had read some negative reviews on here about food quality, portion size, etc, so I was wondering if it had changed. No! We all had a lovely experience, one with scampi and chips and three of us with cod and chips. The fish was really good with tasty batter and really nice chips. It was all freshly cooked and with drinks and bread and butter came to £40, £10 each. Money well spent and I hope we go back in the not-too-distant future!

Popped into the three horseshoes one evening as did not want to cook... bought a large fish and chips... well what I got for the price was a small piece of fish which in actual fact was mainly batter and the fish was the size of a credit card and very thin! For a place that has rave reviews on tripadvisor... it is truly and wrong in description! I will not be ever going back as this was absolutely appalling!

So we had driven after work from bristol and were so thankful to find this place... but what made it even better was that the staff were really friendly... They had 4 meal options for vegetarians amongst the usual chips etc so I decided to be greedy and get curry sauce and chips and try the asparagus and Stilton pie and my friend had fish and chips... the portions were large but somehow we persevered to finish them because it was lovely really fresh not greasy at all... I can't wait to come back for another visit xx

Stopped off here on the way back to our cottage after walking up Pen-Y-Fan - I don't think I've enjoyed cod and chips more, anywhere, ever... A takeaway order but freshly cooked fish with light batter and similarly fresh chips - really was delicious.

We went there as restaurants in the area dont open till 6pm and we were hungry earlier. Decided to take away a few pizzas for the family. The smell inside turned me but we had no choice but to order anyway. The pizzas were not even edible. Greasy smelly and with hardly any veggies on top- the pizzas were meant to be roasted veggies. The few pieces of the veg that I managed to find on top were horrible, seemed old, highly processed and very greasy. I gave my pizza to the dog and went to make myself a sandwich. Avoid at all cost

Wide range of standard family favourites, with vegetarian options. They were also happy to rustle-up something for our vegan diners. Clean (5*)and cheerful environment, with fairly priced menu.

I ordered the chicken curry which seemed to cause a bit of a panic. They weren't sure if they had any. Something seemed to be defrosted in the back room (I heard the microwave ping) and after a very long wait my meal was ready. There were just a few pieces of chicken and a lot of sliced mushrooms which I never ordered and it is just as well that I have no mushroom allergy. I order this meal everywhere I go and at £7-00 this is a rip off and one of the worst (if not THE worst) I have encountered. Best avoided.

Went for a take-away last Friday. The cod was very small and by the time you smashed through the overcooked batter there was hardly any fish in it. VERY disappointing

Smiling and efficient service, but my 2 x cod and chips turned out to be 1x cod and chips and 1 x unknown fish fillets (2 stuck together, probably Bass) and chips.

We stopped here for lunch on the way home. We both had fish, chips and mushy peas with a tea and a coffee. Service was good and the meal was excellent. My only criticism, if it is that, was the portions were too big for me. The place was very clean and attractive.

Visited Llandovery on holiday with friends who were reluctant to try this eatery as they did not think it would be very clean inside looking at the grubby outside wall but the food was actually quite good.Fish and chips were a good portion and nicely cooked.My advice is try this if you are in Llandovery as better than anticipated.

Due to being rudely turned away by two pubs in the town as even though there were tables, the kitchen weren't serving any food as there were tables reserved already; we found this charming place. Due to having a dog we had to sit outside, thankfully the weather was nice but the man serving was very polite and upbeat and made our stay in Llandovery slightly better. The fish and chips are highly recommended however did take a while to be cooked when people were in and out of the take away part fairly quickly

I have visited this chippy numerous times since having a holiday home near Llandovery, and each time I am shocked by the customer service! It is so slow! Today, as before too, I had to repeat my order half a dozen times (why not try writing it down?!), the staff are very friendly and courteous but it becomes so irritating. Today, I ordered a children's box meal, along with some other meals too. Despite a giant poster advertising the kids meal, the server still managed to get it wrong - no drink included, no lolly! And as it was so embarrassing to keep correcting the man, I didn't like to ask for these items! Of course, I will visit again, but only as the other fast food options are limited.

Went here for the last day of a wonderful Welsh family holiday! The food was amazing with large portions for an unbelievable price! The staff were friendly and what seemed like the owner, was a lovely old man who was simply wonderful with children! He gave free lollies and went along with all those silly kid questions. Would most definitely recommend this wonderful place for a bite to eat!

The service was first rate. The gentleman was very friendly and entertained my children. The portions size are large, the prices reasonable and the food is very tasty. The sit down side was clean and not cramped as so many others like this are. It will be our regular stop when we come this way again. Highly recommended.

We had a take away. The fish was great, lovely crisp batter and tasty cod. The kids were happy with their battered sausages. But being honest the reason we didn't go back while on holiday near Llandovery was because of the underdone chips.

My partner and I had been for a drive around the mountains and valley's of Mid Wales.We found this chip shop/restaurant on our way back.The fish and chips my partner and I had was fantastic.Lovely crispy light batter around the fish,and proper tasting mushy peas. A classic fish n chip shop that does eat-in or takeaway. We ate there twice during our week in Llandovery. Great choice, even for vegetarians. Portions large, service friendly, prices acceptable, food delicious! Not much more to say really. Oh yes, it's licensed too, so you can wash your chips down with beer or wine. Yummm!

Second night of our holiday and we decided to have fish and chips. What a lovely choice. Staff were polite and even when they bought a red wine instead of a rose were extremely apologetic.The food arrived having been freshly cooked, great sized portions and amazing flavours. The only downside is that you have more choice in the takeaway part than the restaurant. But definitely am planning a return trip before the holiday is out

Extras included peas, onion rings and mushrooms. Friendly staff, quick service, GREAT cup of tea. Clean toilets with hot water, soap and towels.

we were in llandovery visiting friends and came across the three horse shoes. we had the cod and chips and the cod fell apart and was cooked to order. the batter was crispy but not hard. we really enjoyed our meal and the staff were very friendly. it is the best cod and chips we have ever tasted!!!

Popped into the three horseshoes for lunch whilst visiting the town x hubby had faggots mushy peas and chips I had pizza x we've gotta say the place is spotless the service was really friendly and it's got a hygiene rating of 5 x the young girl who served us was friendly and attentive and very polite x and the owner went and got me some chilli sauce to go with my pizza which was delicious x wud highly recommend this place if visiting x it's has a take away side and a restaurant side if you wish to eat in.

We wanted an early evening meal and decided on a fish and chip meal, the food was presented well and was piping hot, prices were very reasonable and the atmosphere was good, had to wait to pay the bill as the staff were preparing an order for 16 fish and chips to take away, I think this says it all.

As a pre dinner snack we had a small portion of chips, it was heaven in paper covered in salt and vinegar!!! The chips were fresh, staff were friendly and prices very acceptable for the quality of food!

Just popped in the take away for some chips as we had eaten in the restaurant before. Don't know what potatoes they use but they tasted heavenly and hand made. Crisp and golden on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Next time we will eat in. All the food we saw looked beautifully cooked. Watch this space!

We came as a family and the children loved it here. The food was so good they asked if they could come back for a second time!

Treated ourselves to a fish and chip supper over the Easter period, excellent as usual. We would rather travel the 16 mile round trip and pay for good quality food than go to one closer to home, just wish they were a little cheaper but hey ho. Oh can recommend the curry also.

Stopped one night in Llandovery and found this restaurant when we were looking for a quick meal. Nothing pretentious; it´s a friendly caff with really nice food. We had a local delicacy, faggots and chips, and were overfaced - went to our bed feeling very full!

Just got a takeaway cod & chips and beef pie & chips from the Three Horseshoes. This is our first takeaway since moving to Llandovery and there is no doubt it won't be our last. We loved the chips! They tasted 'hand cut'. The cod was excellent and the pie was nice and hot. We also ordered onion rings, but we only ate one each as they tasted undercooked and stodgy. This, however, did not cause to much disappointment as the rest of our food was delicious. The menu was vast - pizza, jacket potatoes, burgers etc. We will be back very soon.

Found this small fish and chip restaurant while wondering around and as I was very hungry we asked the owner if he did gluten free fish and chips ... The owner responded very positively.. but sadly not .. but as he does naked cod along with a lovely jacket potato with salad I was delighted. Then he talked about how he could cook gluten free meals with out having to invest a load of cash in a second fryer. So with his positive attitude and understanding I look forward to returning for another meal as my husbands looked lovely to me and he really enjoyed it. Also all staff were very friendly and I can see how they have a 5 star hygiene rating ... :)

We ate in at this restaurant after recommendations. Food was fantastic and freshly cooked, neither the fish or chips were greasy and the portion sizes were generous. It is probably the best fish and chips I've had away from a seaside resort.The service was friendly and efficient and the restaurant was clean and light. Overall a really good find that I would recommend without hesitation.

On a day out we called into Llandovery and went into The Three Horseshoes to eat, we had a welcoming greeting in this friendly and clean restaurant/take away. I had locally produced faggots, mushy peas chips and gravy. The faggots were beautiful and all was freshly cooked and good portions. My husbands had cod, peas and chips that were freshly cooked, another good portion and not in the least greasy and crisp bopper. Prices were good value and would highly recommend this eatery.

We stopped here and got a fish supper to take back to our B&B. After a hard days mountain biking it was just what the doctor ordered.

Had a really nice fish & chip lunch when we stopped in Llandovery to break up a journey. Large portions, freshly cooked - and served with a smile. The only puzzle was the fact that the 'homemade tartare sauce' came in a sachet with 'Heinz' printed on it!

An old pub converted to a chip shop, excellent staff and excellent grub. The fish was fresh and the batter delightful. All round good value!

We were staying for a few nights just outside of Sennybridge. Whilst visiting Llandovery, this place was recommended to us. The food was amazing! Everything freshly cooked, the best batter I have ever eaten, truly scrumptious. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. We will be staying in the area once again next week and we will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

We decided to eat here, as we were attracted by this restaurant's no nonsense menu as opposed to some of the pretentious gastro-pub stuff on offer in other establishments.Some of the best cod and chips I've had for a long while, and, if you're watching your figure, there's even a batter-free version on the menu.Very good, warm and friendly service (along with travel tips) from a young lady and an older gentleman, whom I took for the owner.Highly recommended.

Once a pub in Landovery High Street, the Three Horseshoes is now a Restaurant/takeaway doing some of the best fish and chips around. There are also lots of other meals available on the menu - curry, pizzas, burgers, etc. Nothing fancy, but great food and friendly staff.
