Had lunch there on Saturday, very nice food my wife had goats cheese parcel which was amazing. The pie was okay, needed something but all in all a good meal. New ownership offering food has made a difference to the atmosphere, no longer an old local and more welcoming now.

New owners recently taken over the pub. If they continue with the excellent food and service as shown to us this evening then the pub will be a very welcome asset to the community. Very reasonable prices and all food home made which was served piping hot with lashings of gravy. As a table of 9 we were made very welcome and we will be returning. Good luck for the future.

Had a fantastic time at the Three Horse Shoes who hosted a Christening for our long time friends from Castleford. The pub was very cosy, everyone was so friendly and Landlord and his team could not do enough to ensure we all had a great time. By the way the men’s toilets were immaculate and smelt so nice, something that is overlooked in many pubs/clubs 👍 We would definitely recommend this establishment for any family events. Thanks again, Mark & Jan,

This review is no reflection on the staff at all, they were really nice and welcoming. The last time I went to Three Horse Shoes, you would be very lucky to get a table it was so busy, the food was so good. When we walked in (lunchtime on a Sunday) we had reserved a table based on what it used to be like. We didn’t need to worry about that. Only a couple of tables were in use, someone was playing darts which screams out that this pub is no longer good for food. I ordered a Sunday lunch, i had to drain some water off the plate from the vegetables they were so soggy and nothing could have rescued the taste, they were beyond help. The roast potatoes were burnt potatoes, I do like mine crispy but two were black, the only thing good on the plate was the mini Yorkshire pudding and the garden peas. I didn’t raise my issues at the time because I didn’t want to appear rude. It needs to be back to basics proper home cooked food with an emphasis on local produce. This pub used to be a goldmine and it could be again, definitely needs a lot of work.

Ate here for the first time in many years with some friends last week. The pub was nice inside at lunch time, although empty - we were literally the only customers. We had lunch. The food was cheap - most main courses just under a tenner - but fairly poor quality. Comments on the Fish and Chips had by most - "like a big fish finger", "probably came from Aldi" "prison food" - not that she'd know. Vegetable Wellington was "all right". My Steak and Ale Pie was a bit better but generally agreed that we'd much have preferred to have paid more for decent food. Beer was ok though.

On a recent visit found beer OK BUT food was Aweful!!!! really NOT worth a visit.. I see there are good reviews on here Obviously before the pub changed hands.. The food was well overcooked and borderline inedible.. £9.99 for overcooked fish. The so called batter was like concrete and chips were burnt almost black. However the location of the pub was nice with views across the lake.. Service was reasonable but not professional. But the food needs serious attention and possibly a professional chef to bring the food up to a reasonable edible professional standard at which the public will find it acceptable..

Called to the three horse shoes for lunch on our dog walk, I have been here many times before over the years, however have not been since before covid. Today myself and friends called with the dogs the ladies behind the bar were nice, I ordered a chip butty I really fancied some homemade chips to warm me up. I was extremely disappointed when crinkle oven chips came out on a platter with a tiny bread bun. I noticed someone else’s order also as it went passed our table it was a frozen pie. The pub seemed very tired and a little grotty. I love calling on a dog walk for lunch but I will not be returning I wish I’d of gone home and made a chip butty. Could be a good pub with a better menu and homemade food and a little face lift

My previous review of this place was a solid 5 stars, one of the best restaurants in the area unfortunately with the new ownership the place has gone downhill. The Sunday dinners were always my favorite but my recent visit left me vastly disappointed. The food was of poor quality and portions were small, I had a Sunday dinner and a desert and was still hungry. The food just isn't as good but the prices are still very expensive. Very disappointed as I was a regular customer here and I won't be returning unless it comes under new ownership again. To note, I also went with 3 other people who also thought the same.

Checked local pubs before setting out to visit the local nature reserves. If we had looked on TripAdvisor we may not have visited. However, we were made very welcome and the interior of the pub was tastefully decorated. Only one hand-pulled real ale, understandable in the current circumstances. I ordered hunters chicken which was full of flavour, with chips (lovely) and salad. The only problem was that the bacon was partly burnt. My partner had halloumi salad, which she enjoyed. Of 4 desserts (other than ice-cream), the crumble, which we were both looking forward to, was unavailable. However, the chocolate fudge cake, with ice-cream, was superb. Overall, an enjoyable pub lunch, for a reasonable price.

We went for Sunday lunch today. I don' even know where to start. The mashed potato (smash) was stone cold, and I meant stone cold! The roast potato's were crispy on the outside and hard in the middle, basically not cooked. The gravy was just instant out of a jar as in just add hot water and stir!. The broccoli was anaemic and tasteless, I could go on....... The girl came and asked if everything was Ok and we said not really as the mash was clap cold. When the young lad came to clear everything away and asked if everything was ok we said no it was far from ok in fact it couldn't get much worse. We didn't get any response or apology all we got was the bill. And yes this did cost £14 per person! Don't waist your money cause you will be disappointed

This pub was normally the ‘go to’ for a fabulous Sunday lunch. You would certainly struggle to get a table without a booking. But as we walked in we noticed how much quieter it was than usual. Very few tables were set up for Sunday lunch, which was unusual & did not bode well. Then as we ordered we were informed that there wasn’t much meat/food left, but we would be charged less for the meal. What? After taking my reservation two days earlier & going to the effort of reserving a table? As for the food when it arrived we weren’t as fortunate as the previous reviewer in getting roast potatoes. The meal was a nostalgic reminder of school dinners. I didn’t know you could still get reconstituted mash potatoes! The staff however were very friendly, polite & apologetic. You had the distinct impression that they had been thrown under the bus by their employers & that they were fully aware just how unacceptable it was.

We enjoyed it that much we booked for Sunday Lunch the day after. Roast Turkey and Beef with a huge Yorkshire Pudding and Gravy to die for. The roast potatoes were on point and really crispy. Served again with veg, mash and we also chose Cauliflower Cheese. No room for a dessert. Good luck to the entire team and I know why it’s advisable to book to avoid disappoint. Has been cleaned up and looks much better. Unfortunately, you can get more than a pint and a bag of crisps here. People were coming in to score and staff are aware. Sitting area out front is nice to people watch and the weird comings and goings in Taddy.

Fish is great but he buys in pre prepped chips and they're god awful. I never understand why this place wins awards over Woolsley Fish and chips shop down the road. Better fish and chips there
