Mister C's in Selby

We found this fish and chip shop a few months ago. The takeaway fish and chips were perfect so now it's a regular stop whenever we visit Selby.

Really nice fish and chips and very reasonably priced for eat in. Relaxed atmosphere and clean.

Myself and my partner called in for a sit down lunch last week as a last minute plan and we were both greatly satisfied with our fish and chips. Absolutely lovely and prompt, attentive service throughout the visit. We will be back!

Always good fish n chips, Irish curry sauce a must!. Large portions, great service, fast turn around.

Every time I order Mister Cs, there's no cod only haddock, and the delivery process on the app or website takes absolutely for everything to order. Sometimes. This place is worse for the takeaway because the grease leaks through the bag and packaging.

Visited this afternoon for an early tea. Absolutely first class fish and chips. Great quality fish well fried just perfectly with good chips and importantly for me, good mushy peas. Great value for me and my wife and our grandkids. Been a few times and hope to go many more. Mr C's is a Selby legend...... fabulous

We brought our son from Kent to a real Chippy. He was shocked about the taste & portion’s including the flavour due to being fried in Beef fat. He loved it. He asked if C’s served Rock Salmon. ???? Never heard of it up north!!! Any chance Mr C’s?

Fish and chips are gorgeous, this is our first takeaway choice in our neighbourhood, very tasty, friendly staff and good service. The curry sauce this time is not as good as before, we are wondering why.

Cold undercooked chips & soggy fish. Not good at all

What's the point in a note section when ordering? You never read them!!!! If you order a fish on its own, and chips on their own and even leave a note to make sure they are wrapped separately for the two different people as stated I expect them to be wrapped separately! This is the second time in a row from here!!!!! 🤬 the result was 1 very unhappy wife who refused to eat the chips because they were covered in fish and expensive food in the bin! I DO NOT RECOMMEND! and will not be returning. It's a joke, and an expensive one at that. Sort it out Mr Cs. 😠😡

Arrived piping hot, great portion sizes and tasty. All special requests followed. fed 4 of us but could have easily fed another 2 people with the portion sizes. Irish curry sauce was lovely, Peas and gravy tasty. Fish perfect, bubbly crisp batter and golden chips. Battered sausage on point. no complaints

My partner & I came to Shelby for a trip out and had late lunch here, by far the BEST fish & chips we’ve had in a very long time!! Will defo be back again! Staff attentive and welcoming. Inside is so nice and relaxed vibe.

Hello I ordered a jumbo sausage and i got to small sausage , I never got a phone call saying there was a change to order as that wasn’t any in the shelf, but when I rang and asked over the phone all I got was laughed and a sarcastic comments back, it was dreadful food and terrible service, should be ashamed

Feel really disappointed that they don’t cook their chips in veg oil anymore and just beef dripping. Therefore their chips are not even vegetarian 😞

Excellent fish n chips. Great selection of pies, sausages, fish etc. Friendly staff. Very clean (the kitchen not the staff, not that I'm saying the staff are dirty... you know what i mean..)

Not up to the usual standard. Food cold. Batter soggy. Cat enjoying it though.

Can't fault the place. First time visiting today with my son. We were immediately welcomed and told we could sit wherever we liked. The restaurant was clean and inviting. The waitress was back with menus within a flash. I had fish and chips (and a massive bowl of scraps 😋), while my son opted for southern fried chicken goujons and chips. The food arrived quickly, was hot, delicious and plentiful. We both couldn't finish! Staff were attentive and friendly. I'll definitely be eating here again and will recommend to friends.

A very disappointing visit. The restaurant was very cold inside, much like the food. On top of this the chips were vey greasy and the fish was disappointing, particularly the batter.

Ordered cod wait time was ok but the meal was greasy swimming in grease if im honest some of the chip were raw disappointed. Never add a problem when we've sat in and ate but the takeaway was rubbish too busy having a gossip

Our first visit to eat inside, there with Selby District Vision for Lunch. Excellent food and service. It is pretty busy and on the takeaway side as well. Reasonable portions and prices. Well worth visiting if you have not already been.

I really used to love this place however I feel like it has really gone down hill. My chips were anaemic and my fish was rather small in comparison to my usual so I don’t think I’ll be back.

Not been here for a while but decided to have lunch mid week. It wasn’t too busy so able to sit where we liked, staff friendly and welcoming. Our order was taken promptly and food arrived within 20mins. Great sized portions and obviously freshly cooked, lovely crispy batter. We had regular fish and chips, scampi and chips and sausage and chips with a drink each £30. We thought this was reasonable, we will be back soon and recommend to all !!

Resturant was closed due to a flood so we had fish and chips in the car . My hubbys fish was really dry so he couldnt eat it , chips was nice . Scampi wasnt as nice as in the restustant .

Delicious fresh fish and chips, beautifully cooked!

Called in while on a shopping trip to Selby with our grandson for takeaway fish and chips. Although it was busy we were served fairly quickly and did not have to wait too long for piping hot fish and chips. Fair sized portion and plenty of chips. Staff were friendly

Really nice chips. Veggie and vegan options available every day but Tuesday. On Tuesday gluten free is available. The staff are always friendly and welcoming.

Had not booked and walked in to a very full bustling restaurant. I asked a member of staff if they had a free table and even though one was just being vacated they put us on a table that was already clean and set with a reserve sign on it. They then cleared and prepared the other table for the reserve table. Well impressed with the quick thinking. I am so glad that we all ordered the small portions of our various dishes. The portions and HUGE. We could have fed a small army. It was all very lovely and very tasty. Great staff who certainly look after their customers.

The large fish isn't as large as I would like. However, I'm unsure if this is related to the size of fish these days. I wonder how small a medium would be. It's all cooked perfectly, not too greasy, and the peas and curry sauce are perfect.

Shocking service, blonde haired waitress was incredibly rude when I asked her a simple question, ignorant staff and will be getting in touch for serious action against this waitress. Absolutely appalled.

Absolutely brilliant the finest chips ever

Had a take out fish and chips here, once a week for the last 6 weeks. Never fails to impress and much better than the one we had at Trenchers in Whitby last weekend. Highly recommend, and they have a restaurant too, but not pet friendly, so we eat on the tables outside. Great while the weather is fine, car otherwise.

We ordered a large fish which was the smallest we’d ever had. We ordered a small and a large chips and both were the exact same portion size but we had been charged extra for large. Very disappointing won’t be coming back.

opted for Fish and chips, children fish and chips, chicken nuggets and chips, potato scallops, Irish curry sauce and fresh made tartare. All delicious, great portion size. Tartare sauce was best we have tasted. All requests followed. Excellent

A bit wary with recent reviews but about no need to be. Excellent fish and chips, piping hot and decent portions. Really tasty batter on chunky haddock, chips from new potatoes but very well cooked. Mushy peas not bad either. Service excellent, friendly and efficient. Only slight complaint is no ability to add tip when paying by card. A lot of places do and must be affecting the ladies tips. Especially for those of us who don’t carry cash these days. No complaints about the food or experience though. Very good value too!

There’s a lot to be said about customer service here this is none absolutely obnoxious and poor food I’m revolted

Ordered a large fish and not much bigger than the normal fish Ordered a jumbo sausage and got 2 x tiny sausages Ordered curry sauce and when collecting got told they had no curry sauce (why take the order if you don’t have any?) Unfortunately, the food was cold so most of it got thrown away. I also thought it was more expensive than it needed to be as I live alone but had to order more than I can eat because the minimum order level is too much for one person. I am 72 and disabled and don't have transport so need food delivered. I shan't order from here again.

Ordered food to be delivered at a specific time and it arrived 30 minutes early. By the time all family was home our order was not fresh, a bit soggy and lukewarm. If you are permitting customers to select their own delivery times, then please make sure you adhere to it… otherwise what is the point of offering it?

Ordered at 4.45 online for 5.30pm delivery. At 5.43 phoned as app said it had been delivered. I was told it had just been wrapped and would be with us in 6 minutes. Phoned at 5.56 and asked if the food would still be hot and whe it would be delivered. I was told it was in the hot cabinet and would be with us in 30 seconds. 9 minutes later at 6.05 my wife looked at the bag which said with brown bag which had not been delivered with multiple sauces and drinks for grandson. I phoned at 6.06 asked for refund to be told I needed to have my card so I said I would phone back when we finished. The food was only warm, certainly not hot so wasted money on 5 jumbo haddock and remaining foor for our usa visitors. Worst service we have ever received. Late only warm food with items missing. So 6 phone calls to sort our meal which was poor at best. Hmmm less than impressed today

Lovely Fish & Chips, nice sized portions but beware if you haven’t ordered prior to collection. You can end up feeling a little ignored as they serve customers calling in for orders as a priority. Suppose order in advance is the answer but on first visit you can feel a bit overlooked. Quality of food: 10/10 Portion size: 10/10 Prices: 10/10 Customer service: 8/10

Can I just ask , I visit every week and absolutely love the fish n chips however this is the second time I’ve been this week and the fish is getting small ? What’s happening it’s disappointing as fish and chips are not cheap .

Ordered kids £4.50 sausage and chips meal. Sausage was cold and chips were over cooked, tough and probably red heated from the day before. Really disappointed. Straight in the bin! Won't be visiting again. Best fish and chip shop in Yorkshire. I don't think so!! 👎🏻

Good chippy which is locally rated. Has won awards in the past. Takeaway and sit-in available. Food is always good. Service is good too.

Visited during a day trip to Selby and having read previous reviews I have to agree, the best fish and chips we've had. Lovely restaurant/atmosphere, really friendly staff and food arrived extremely quickly. Everything we ordered was delicious. We will definitely visit again and would highly recommend.

Don't get delivery, tried fish and chips delivered, never again. 2 hours from placing the order to delivery and the food had been stood for awhile, it was still warm but you can just tell. Normally its excellent
