Three Cottages in North East Derbyshire

Celebrated my birthday here on 22nd February. Had a fantastic time, food was delicious and the service and welcome was fabulous. Huge thank you to the team at the Three Cottages. Highly recommend.

Great food freshly served, Lovely public house and very pleasant staff. Value for money, not rushed to leave.

I came with a group. The service was brilliant. Nicki and Jackie and the team made us welcome. The food was hot and tasty. Extremely impressed and a great welcome. I had hummus and schnitzel and both were gorgeous . Would definitely recommend.

Three Cottages is a great local restaurant/ pub offering a wide range of food in very pleasant surroundings. We used their online booking system to reserve a table for two and were pleased to be seated near the windows overlooking the garden, which in the good weather would also be a great place to sit and eat. The menus are very good and we had the choice of a set menu or a flexible one, a January specials was also available. The service was very good and we were well looked after with no rushing and enjoyed a pleasant evening.

Food was outstanding, all 3 of us had a wonderful meal which was all really tasty, one of the best meals we’ve had in a while and really well presented! Highly recommend this lovely pub! ❤️

Lovely place to have a drink or meal,nice atmosphere and nice people

Went with all women in our family for xmas meal on 28th December It was fantastic, all served so quickly, the food was delicious. The staff so welcoming thankyou so much, I will definitely recommend a visit here its gorgeous food.

We booked our work Christmas lunch at The 3 Cottages, I had been recommended to go by a friend. We paid a small deposit and pre ordered our choices as there were 8 of us. The staff were extremely friendly and welcomed us when we arrived. Our table was laid with a cracker each and the room was lovely and warm with tasteful Christmas decorations. The food came out quickly and everything we ordered was delicious. The Christmas dinners were particularly delicious, the turkey was so juicy and tender, accompanied by delicious roasted carrots and parsnips. Some of the group ordered off the main menu and their food was excellent too. Desserts were yummy. Highly recommend, great food, great service, great value. We’ll be back…

Pre booked two turkey dinner checked in for 6.45pm not that busy got our meal at 7.45 which should have been at 7.pm was cold we had wine and a few drinks but the meal was very poor for the price one and a half bits of turkey two carrots two parsnips roasted pots not home made rock hard gravy was lumpy four tiny Brussels and a small pigs in blankets as big a little finger and to top off my husband has been ill all day and night throwing up felt as myself and my husband had the leftover food been loads of times it's been lovely but not last night at all very much disappointed ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️

Really friendly staff with good service. Only thing missing was Jacky and Jasmine being there.

We pre-booked for a Saturday evening group booking of 13 for my mum's 70th birthday! We were asked to pre-order (due to the size of the group) no problem! I received a text message confirmation of the booking straight away and a reminder a day or so before. Great service! Most of the group had 3 courses and the only complaint was that people wanted to order more than one thing for each course. Fab choices and so many of them...people could choose! I had the prawn cocktail to start, and scnitzel for main (my nan was German so had high hopes)...I was NOT dissapointed. Hats off to the chef! And finished with sticky toffee pudding and ice cream for dessert. I'm not much of a dessert person but it was lovely and just the perfect portion size. My mum had the BEST time and we would like to thank the lovely staff again for their service and hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble. We will DEFINITELY be back! P.s...my wife ordered an 'irish' coffee (not on the menu. Ssssssh)....but, it was soooo good she won't stop talking about it! Thanks again Three Cottages. We shall see you soon

Lovely atmosphere very friendly and helpful staff, the beers are varied from standard lager to continental lager i haven't eaten here but from what i seen served it looks very nice 👍 also has cask ales of which my favourite is Tim Taylor and it's superb very well kept so enjoying myself here

Such a lovely place with a really friendly atmosphere. All the staff go above and beyond and were great with our 1 and 2 year old. Food was brilliant, we had Sunday lunch. Have booked for Christmas and can't wait.

We stopped for a smashing Sunday lunch. Friendly service, comfy table and atmosphere. The food was simple but good and hot.

Had a lovely lunch there , I had fish and chips, the fish wasn't big but it was thick and very tasty. Loved it. The lady serving us was very helpful and friendly.

The staff here were absolutely brilliant - we gave them virtually no notice for a wedding reception but they pulled out all the stops and gave us the best time, nothing was too much trouble- even when things over ran you'd never have know it by how calm they all were. We are so glad we came here and the food was wonderful. We will definitely be going back again, again and again.

What a lovely evening yesterday for Halloween. Such a fantastic well organised event out on by the pub for kids, went with my young nieces 5 and 18months and it was perfect for them. All the staff dressed up, did a Halloween quiz, assured safe trick or treated at the houses behind and timed it so food was on the table when we got in. The gentlemen hosting was great with the kids. And the staff did a great job working around everyone. Well done guys will be back for your next event

We popped here for an evening meal on a Saturday evening. The whole evening was fantastic from start to finish. The food was gorgeous and cooked to perfection. The staff were lovely, efficient and gave the perfect amount of attention to our table. It is often difficult to get this balance right but this team were spot on. At the point I was thinking about ordering a second pint a staff member was at hand asking us if we wanted more drinks. My hubby and I are very happy as we are close enough to walk here which means there is a high chance we will be back very soon.

arrived 1:15pm on wednesday, the place was almost empty. we ordered the lamb pie paired with a drink. the pie was not come with chips or potatos,.so if you are hungry, you may need to order portion of chips extra. this pair pie and drink, also offer a dessert in £5. they gave me extra custard for the dessert when I asked.

Very lovely place to stop for a Spot of lunch

Visiting Saturday evening after making bookng for 7 people were met with an update of what was NOT AVAILABLE. At 7 p.m.! No pies which three of us had selected. Only one lasagne left. After struggling to find alternatives we had an hour's wait for food. Not the most comfortable experience for our visitors from Canada. Won't be revisiting anytime soon.

We came here to meet some friends for tea on a Sunday. The Sunday roast stops serving at 4pm so we ordered off the al a carte menu instead. I went for the chicken schnitzel and my partner had the chicken pappardelle, both were delicious!! For pudding we shared the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and again absolutely gorgeous. Really cosy feel to the place, was quiet as a Sunday evening but would happily return as the service was top notch too. Sorry I didn’t take any photos of the food. Doh!

Absolutely excallent shepherds pie and apple & raspberry crumble. Chicken schnitzel looked deep fried, not the way to do it, but tasted good. Host was brilliant, will be going more often

We are very lucky as the Three Cottages is on our doorstep. We’ve been on various occasions for lots of different meals and drinks on weekdays and also weekends. The vegetarian options they have are all delicious. I had the halloumi wrap today and that was so yummy. I have been to other popular places such as Bottle and Thyme and also the Hunloke. Neither of those places caters very well for vegetarians where as I’ve never had an issue at the Three cottages. Hubby had the pie deal with a pint and I didn’t manage to get a photo of his as he tucked in that quickly. The staff are always so lovely and so accommodating. Only thing I would say is that on a day like today with miserable weather I was rather jealous of hubby’s pie. Can you please consider adding a vegetarian pie like cheese, potato and leek? I’d be there on a weekly basis if you did 😃 but keep being a lovely pub, with lovely food as there aren’t enough places like yours in the area. We also noticed the newly painted outer exterior today, it looks great!

Been coming here for years. The conservatory & the outdoor area is a brilliant addition to the pub. Food superb & Nicky & her team are brilliant.

Fantastic food, lasagne was delicious. My vegan daughter loved the butternut squash wellington. Friendly and welcoming staff and great service. Lovely, clean and cosy pub.

Very nice place, looks great inside...very roomy too! I only called here for a couple drinks on a hot day, we sat outside on the front tables...but had we been staying longer, we may have gone outside on the back instead, as its much nicer & more private...cos the front is obvs visible from the road. And we didn't eat food so, don't know what that's like, YET, we will go 1 day & try it...then I'll update this review! Went back for a drink a couple more times since the 1st review. There's some really comfy, big, padded chairs inside at the end, we keep going to them now...my Mum loves them, they're so comfy, she starts dozing off in them...but, she needs arms on the chairs to push on to get up. And she needs a padded bottom, any hard chairs hurt her, so she won't sit on them. Any restaurant that has hard backed chairs, I always take my coat or cardigan, fold it & put it over the back of her chair, cos if she sits back onto it without anything covering it, it hurts her back. But, that's why she has a walker/rollator to walk with, that has a padded chair on it, with a padded handle for the back...for just incase we go somewhere that has no good chairs for her. We went in the disabled toilet this time too, it's quite big inside...Mum went in with her rollator & with me. The only thing I'd say is, there's no mirror in there, cos she wanted to look in 1 & there wasn't 1. But, it does have automatic lights, rather than having to switch it on yourself!

We stopped in for dinner and were very pleasantly surprised. The food was good and the atmosphere was great!! Very reasonable prices. Nice family atmosphere. Certainly recommend!! We will be back!

The Three cottages has all the requirements of a good time. A warm welcome,good atmosphere,lovely restaurant and great food.

This is my second visit to the three cottages very welcoming atmosphere staff are extremely polite and helpful. As I am a wheelchair user, this pub is very accessible and very spacious. Very good size disabled toilet. Food is lovely as always and freshly cooked. Plenty of space and light great outside area for children. Also plenty of parking very close to the pub. Staff always happy to help, Nothing is too much trouble for them 😊 Will definitely be visiting again.

Had sausage mash and peas, was very nice. Enjoyed the meal for a change. Having something different. The staff was very pleasant too.

Waited 40 minutes after ordering our meal . The rump steak sandwich was over cooked and mushrooms burn plus bread burnt. Chicken over cooked and dry in the wrap . Burger on rock hard stale bun. No definitely won’t be back for food. Such a shame because the pub looks lovely and the garden to the rear is great .

Had my husbands 60th birthday meal here with all his family .Food was lovely and the staff were brilliant. The pub itself is really nice with a great outside area .Will definitely go back .Thank you to all the staff xx x

Always a friendly welcome for quiz night (quiz, bingo and chip cob all for current price of £2 per person) great welcome and lovely staff :) I haven't eaten here yet though but the chip cobs are nice!!

Lovely meal today, lovely place to eat, plenty of tables inside and out. Garden area is brilliant, dog friendly too.

Lovely pub, fabulous service and unreal food. Party of 9 and every meal was perfect. We did request some changes to the meals and all of the requests were catered for. 100% would recommend.

Lunch here always used to be excellent. Today was very disappointing. The pub is clean and the staff are helpful but the food is poor. My chicken wrap was supposed to come with dressed salad and aioli, neither of which put in an appearance. The wrap was at least half full of red cabbage, not much chicken at all. Sandwiches used to come on sourdough or granary bread, it now seems to be standard white sliced. The fishfingers used to be quite substantial and made with quality fish but today's offering consisted of three small thin pieces of unknown white fish. We won't be returning

Lovely Sunday lunch to celebrate a family birthday, staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was delicious hot and served within a reasonable time frame, we were a party of 11 and all got served within a few minutes of each other spot on and will be back 😃

Called in for our tea on the off chance. Beautiful pub, really clean, comfortable and cosy. Staff were friendly and efficient. We sat in the new conservatory style but which was so nice. Food came reasonably quick , hot and tasty 😋 You have a great place there Nikki, loved it. Highly recommend. Will be fab in the summer with all the outside space 😎

Food was poor however the lady Jackie who was working at the time was wonderful and very helpful. She even prepared a doggy bowl and treats when she knew we were bringing a dog.

Wow. Best pub I have been in for a very long time. I had the best steak and ale pie with some delicious mash, and my mum thoroughly enjoyed her seabass. Awesome wine and the beer was crisp. It's a shame it was raining as my son was unable to play in the garden, maybe next time. Super fantastic service, you know you are in a great place when the staff take the time to entertain your little child while they are also busy. Excellent place!

A group of 16 of us went for Sunday Lunch following a walk in Derbyshire. The landlady and her staff could not have been more helpful in sorting out tables and times . Sitting in the light and airy Orangery was delightful and the food was delicious. A very pleasant place to enjoy a meal, highly recommend!

gluten free people don’t go here!! i’m not coming on here to slander the place as my family said their food was delicious im just coming on here as a gluten and dairy allergy sufferer, they told me on the phone they have a gluten free menu, i got handed a menu with just the gluten removed from normal meals and its lovely how they’re trying to include everyone in the menu but i dont think its fair to advertise gluten free menu and being told theres lots of gluten free options when there isnt. i ordered gluten free fish and chips and i got chips with boiled plain fish no seasoning and the fish on top of the chips so the chips were soggy with the fish juice. and the deserts were ‘gluten free crumble’ but to make it gluten free they remove the topping so your paying £7 for a bowl of stewed apples.

It's a lovely pub staff where very polite but the food was the worst I've ever had all over cooked and as for the puddings the crumble was horrendous I spent over £150 and will never go back again

Another fabulous meal at Three Cottages today. Food as always was very tasty and made to high standard and the front of house staff are very welcoming and friendly. Cannot wait to go back to try the new menu from 29th May.

Service poor chips cold but looked like they had been cooked a long time pie OK, wanted to complain but nobody asked if the meal was OK, was going to mention again at the till but again not asked about our experience will not be returning

We visited today with our dog and enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was very good and very well priced; my OH enjoyed the bacon and cheese burger and I had the halloumi wrap. The young servers we dealt with were absolutely lovely and offered table service to take our orders. Overall we had a fantastic meal and experience, our only negative would be the assistant manager whom we found abrupt and indifferent. When she brought over our meals she didn't even bother to put it in front of my boyfriend and merely placed on the table whilst looking at everyone but us and walked away. We would definitely be back based on the food and overall experience but would hope for an even better experience.

We went to the restaurant for lunch and were very satisfied. The service staff were very friendly, the drinks were good and the food was delicious. The restaurant is very lovingly furnished and there are plenty of seats inside and outside. There are also plenty of parking spaces in front and behind the restaurant.

If I could give this place 1 star it would flatter it, avoid avoid avoid. Ping ping meals, shocking service, expensive, think I would rather have a ping ping tesco meal next time.

IF YOU ARE GLUTEN FREE - do NOT go here!!! Even though they advertise a gluten free menu - what they actually mean is - here’s a menu that we’ve taken off anything that has gluten in it and you can have what’s left. I hate this concept! Here’s an example: “Homemade crumble of the day. Buttery flapjack topping, creamy custard” - to make this gf - we serve it with no topping!! So stewed fruit and custard then eh?! Shocking really - absolutely shocking - how hard does it have to be? Poor waitress was lovely - if not embarrassed!

Me and my partner and kids come yesterday for mothers day. Had a lovely meal and stayed for drinks after. Nice staff and homely surroundings and atmosphere. 😁

Good food, nice setting, great outdoor area. Drink prices a bit on the high side compared to pubs further up the road!

Do not go here for Sunday lunch!! The worse service I’ve ever witnessed. Waited 30 mins to get a drink. Waiters and waitresses did their best to keep their heads down so you couldn’t catch their attention. When we complained, the waitresses rudely responded with ‘we’re busy’. Meats was over cooked. Do not waste your money.

Went for a group Christmas meal and there was no loss of quality. Very nice. Good staff. Another year, great staff and atmosphere. Food portions were a bit on the small side, even the pensions finished 3 courses.

Phoned on route to see if there was a table available and when we arrived a nice table was reserved in the conservatory. We had the lasagne, which is always lovely. The only criticism I now have is that there is now an additional cost for the garlic bread at £2.50 which I feel should be included with the meal. We purchased this and a side of skin on fries between us which was ample. The staff were polite and pleasant and we had a lovely time.

The Three Cottages has lovely food, a brilliant team and a great atmosphere. The pub quiz in Tuesday is the best around! We always feel so welcome whether we go for food with the family or just 2 of us for a drink. Would highly recommend a visit!

A lovely little pub to stop off for a drink. There was plenty of drinks to choose from and the staff were very helpful when deciding what to have. The staff are friendly and the pub is so cosy. Food smells lovely and we will be back to try it soon!

Lovely fresh cooked food. Very friendly staff. Visited on a Monday evening, so was quiet (hence only 4 stars) for atmosphere, but would definitely visit again when working in the area and would highly recommend.

Pub is upto date & modern, pity tables, floor & seating hasn't been kept clean. Prices are extortionate single Malibu & Lemonade £6. We would of eaten, but food didn't look very nice. Given 3 stars overall as staff were friendly.

Booked a meal for four on a Saturday evening. Arrived an hour early but were accommodated and seated with no problem. Staff friendly, venue rustic and cosy. Lasagne was very good, chicken dish was also tasty. Crumble and custard very good. Will be going back.

Fabulous Sunday roast. Amazing food, great service and atmosphere

The place was very quiet when we went but the venue is very modern with an air of sophistication and class, and the food was fantastic, especially the steak was one of the best I've ever been served and cooked perfectly medium rare which in itself is somewhat of a rarity at most places.

Great pub, with a good selection of drinks.

Good food at good prices. Good beer at high prices.
