Took elderly parents out for lunch on a Saturday. One has Coeliac Disease. The menu showed vegan and vegetarian but not gluten free. A QR code needs to be scanned for gluten free menu. My Dad does not have a smart phone and my Mum not upto that technology either. All that's needed is (gf) on menu like (v) and (ve). Please think about elderly people. I was also frustrated and annoyed that I only wanted to order the 5oz Gammon, egg & chips but that is only available Mon to Fri. Instead had to order a 10oz Gammon. Why do you think people want to eat double at weekend? Please think about the elderly with smaller appetites. 5oz Gammon steaks were being cooked for the mixed grill so we weren't asking for much. Also chips come covered in salt. I love salt but they were too much even for me. Please think about people with high blood pressure. Seats were hard wooden church pews and very uncomfortable. Won't be going back.

Once apon a time this pub was the one to go to place to be..... However when ordering a drink, i kind of expect to be welcomed with a friendly approach... Nope instead i was greeted with an aggressive lady who made all our group of friends very un easy.... Has hospitality really got that bad? Do do hope that the lady in ? Was not the land lady... Astonished to be charged £2.85 for a half pint of post mix cola . No ice or lemon . When I questioned the cost I was met with indifference. This is the nearest pub to my home but it is no wonder that very few locals choose to drink here and be ripped off . Pubs moan about falling trade , but this is an example of why people choose to drink at home rather than be blatantly robbed .

Went on a Saturday early evening, ordered 3 meals, unfortunately all left a lot to be desired. The batter on the fish was dark brown, the garden peas were shriveled and the frozen chips had the taste you get when using old oil. My Rump steak was ok but not great, my peas were slightly less shriveled but the onion rings batter, again over cooked and dark brown. The steak pie was very nice but again let down that there was no alternative to shriveled garden peas and again frozen chips cooked in oil well past its best. I definitely would not be calling this a gastro pub. It's mediocre pub food. The positives about the place are that it is dog friendly and even has a dog station with water bowls, biscuits and blankets that are free to use. It's also a nice location by the edge of the canal which seems to attract a lot of people who go for drinks. Would I go again or recommend it? For drinks in the garden, yes but definitely not for food.

Visited twice when we were in the area. They had their own parking. Order at the bar. Sunday roasts were quite good. Generous kids menu. The caramel brownie was to die for, it was so ooey gooey. I would probably skip the three appetizers of wings, toast and shrimp. Staff were friendly. WCs were clean and tidy. The only downside was the length of time waiting for our meals. It was quite long each time. Staff were most certainly not dallying around and taking their time, they were really working, Even the barkeeps came out to help! The freshness of each plate was evident. We wanted that caramel brownie again but opted out to my hips' relief.

Beautiful setting next to the Canal. Cant believe that I lived in Garstang as a teenager and its taken till I'm 64 to visit!! We had dinner there on Thursday evening and it was lovely. I had garlic mushrooms on sourdough bread and it was scrummy. Then smoked haddock fishcake with buttered new potatoes which were the nicest new potatoes ive had this year. Too full for dessert. Added bonus.....it was quiz night and although we didn't win, we enjoyed taking part. Second added bonus, they serve Doom Bar on draught and our Surrey friend had been looking for it all week without success so he was delighted! Oh and the staff are all lovely and welcoming. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Great venue for drinks by the canal, but the food was really poor. The staff were lovely when I couldn't eat what was served as it was so tasteless. I had sent it back once as the chicken was still pink, not sure what they had done when it came back, but it was rubbery and inediible. I felt bad as I have never sent food back in my living memory, having worked in the industry, I sadly did today. I did get a full refund. Think there's still some work to do.

I used to come here fifty years ago as a child with my parents, since we were looking for an eatery en route to the lakes, I suggested Th'Owd Tithe Barn as not being too far out of the way. A beautiful sunny day and plenty of outdoor tables, I was looking forward to it. However, when we arrived we discovered that the kitchen had taken a break as the chef was new and still getting to grips with the menu (least that was what we were told). I was rather disappointed. Working as I do in a service industry I know that information is key in cases where expectation cannot be met. Therefore either offer the full service as per the website, or post on the website temporary kitchen times, or don't offer food until your chef and supply the menu to the stated times. Had I known I would not have made the diversion to go there.

Booked a table at 6.45 on Sunday 2nd June as we were on a canal boat holiday and it looked like the ideal place next to the canal Less that a warm welcome from a woman who apparently "didn't normally work there" and perhaps was missing the point that if you have booked a table at the end of service the experience should be the same as the beginning. Despite booking a table we pointed in the general direction of tables and told to order at the bar quickly as the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes and we have run out of various menu items. We had an average main course and promptly left. Need less to say as we passed returning on the canal we booked else where, there are many options in Garstang only a few minutes walk away.

It's a nice place but the food isn't very good. I ordered Louisiana burger with peanut satay sauce and Asian slaw. What I got was a rubbery burger with panko breadcrumbs, tartare sauce and white cabbage. Dessert was a bowl of ice cream with sauce on top and a lotus biscuit, instead of the sundae I ordered. Drove into the area to visit family and chose this pub due to its location. The menu was rustic however simple and lacked healthier options. In terms of drinks; diet coke and shandys were our main choices but were quite flat so we were initially dissatisfied. We ordered chicken burgers, steak, steak and ale pie with the option of mash instead of chips and the “healthier” option of the chicken burger which was quoted in the menu to “ditch the bun and swap the chips for salad”. The chicken burgers themselves were appetising but the presentation of them could be improved. The steak and ale pie was delivered to us with chips instead of mash which is not what was asked for, so at this point we were disappointed however didn’t mention this issue to a staff member as we felt it was unnecessary . The “healthier” option of the chicken burger which was to be a chicken salad came as chicken and chips which wasn’t even an item on the menu and so we asked for it to be with the salad that we had asked for and after a long wait we were delivered a bowl with a few lettuce leaves and some slices of cheese - this was extremely substandard and left the individual with disheartened hunger. We then ordered some coffees to finish off the meal but we were then informed that they had run out of milk so had to wait another 10 minutes. Overall the experience was unsatisfactory and we will not be returning.

Excellent pub with tradition feel, dog friendly and looking onto the canal. Well worth a visit food excellent, lots of old style trinkets to look at inside, a much better feel to the place now the tables are proper if you came here on the past it was like sat in pews at a church. Both was good but the seating gives it more of a charm. Small room to the side and a pub area to stand if that's your thing. Lots of car parking space and outside seating to get the loverly British weather. Drinks are pricey but you pay extra for the fantastic views and the staff are friendly.

Visited early evening for dinner and drinks. Chicken schnitzel which was fine, sausage and mash was ok but had better from there recently. The place was quite busy but not full. We ordered desserts.....the biscoff sundae was ok but again, had better there recently but my wife had the salted caramel brownie. it came out sone cold...even the bowl was fridge cold (perhaps that should have been obvious), and was rock hard. At the time I complained, there was another customer with exactly the same issue! It was warmed up but came back, still with no ice cream as it states on the menu. It was the worst, driest 'brownie' ever seen....a brownie is supposed to be moist as least. This was a piece of dry chocolate cake and definitely not worth £6.95!! There are much better places to eat in Garstang if this is the best the Tithe Barn can do. Very disappointed as should be a great place to eat! Also, they need to offer small bottles of prosecco.

Also some of the Facebook pictures looked good. Was early evening. Place wasn’t too busy. After we had got our drinks, found it wasn’t too warm either. Still, we ordered food. The starter was good baked Camembert. However, the mains were a massive let down. Gammon was fine, but hugely let down with Frozen Chips & Veg. My wife’s chicken burger looked, and she said it was dry. Also, more Frozen Chips. For such a unique place, it’s missing a big trick. Shame really, as the place has so much character & untapped potential.

Book a New Years lunch for our family of 9 well I advance of Christmas, we arrived and was told to take any table as the booking system had gone down. We were told that someone would be with us to take our order, after waiting 25 min, even when the place was very quiet we decided to order at the bar. After waiting 15 min at the bar we managed to order food, the person behind the bar took our orders and check them off the availability of the order and said that they had everything we ordered. After waiting approximately 10 min a member of staff approached us and informed us that they did not have one of the meals we had ordered so we had to choose another option, the after another 5/10 min we were approached to inform us that they did not have two other meal so we had to choose another option. The picture below was taken of a mixed grill costing £19 an absolute joke. The other meal we received weren’t up to much and far far to pricey. On complaining the person behind the bar offered no discount, not even an apology just stating that the owners were not on site but they have my phone number from the booking and will be in touch guess what yep no one has been in touch. Very poor standard of food and lack of compensation will not eat there again and would suggest give it a wide birth

Dessert was absolutely lovely too and we even got some ice cream for our baby. They had clean toilet facilities and high chairs too. The dog was welcomed and staff even fed her some treats. There was an area on the way in to collect water and bowl for your dog along with a blanket for them to lay on too which I thought was a lovely touch. Visited a few times since Sue took over. She’s doing an amazing job. Flatlanders were playing there last night. Awesome party night. Great start to the Christmas weekend. Thank you 🤩 🎄👌

A lovely find... 1st visit and it will definitely not be our last! Not only gorgeous food (stunning Sunday dinner!) but great value for money, generous portions, fantastic ambiance (stunning pub that is steeped in history) and most importantly the friendliest staff who made us feel really welcome and gave wonderful customer service. You can even bring your dog!! Thanks so much and see you again soon 😁

Lovely character country pub however I have now eaten here twice and I have to say the food is extremely disappointing. Such a shame for a lovely pub.

We had a lovely meal here on a Thursday evening. The mains were excellent , the starters not as good due to the plates being cold for the mushroom dish and therefore lukewarm food. The battered halloumi was excellent and also the pork sausage dish.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Barn. Staff are extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful; food was spot on, and the atmosphere is of perfect olde worlde cosiness. Couldn't fault the place - and no issues with parking, as I know a lot of past...

The head chef (at most 17 years old) has opening and closing the freezer down to a fine art. The Aldi prawns were to die for, the Asda chips even more so. BUT by far my favourite was the cardboard dressed up as garlic bread which finished the meal off perfectly. Highly recommended for those who have lost all tastebuds and like eating fish fingers. Building is amazing though.

One of the nicest pubs we've ever been to. Lots of parking for boats and good jetty to climb on to.

Hasn't changed inside for years. Great location by the canal but food needs a makeover and too many items on the menu were not available

Cleveleys has been a favorite day out location for myself and my wife since the Covid lockdown ended in 2020. With overseas holidays severely restricted we just jumped in the car and headed to the coast and Cleveleys was on the list. 6 miles from Blackpool it does not appear to be swamped with tourists but has fantastic beaches and relatively new promenade which is brilliant for walking, cycling, great for kids on bikes & scooters etc. You can walk to Blackpool in about 2 hrs and also to Fleetwood same distance with excellent promenades to both destinations, both excellent walks and trams available to bring you back to Cleveleys. Cleveleys itself is a busy town with plenty of eating places, pubs & bars, cheap & mid range with tourist shops, M&S express etc this is not a stylish place with great nightlife and high end bars etc but it is a great old style seaside town, great for young kids who want sand, sea, plenty of open spaces for games and chips!. There are plenty of cheap places to eat, plenty of takeaways, try Bean's Bakery for pies, cakes etc brilliant old fashioned tasty foods!. Overall, Cleveleys is a great place for a day trip or holidays for young families not wanting the noise & cost of Blackpool, its close enough to visit if you want. Love it!!!

Don't bother coming to this Cafe. The service was poor and food was poor. We visited the Cafe after a walk on the beach but was met with dirty tables that had not been cleaned, staff stood around talking in little groups. I had to ask for the table to be cleared and cleaned. Ordered a small breakfast and a double egg on brown toast. + 3 sausages for our dogs. Sausages was overcooked, like they were underneath a lamp to keep them warm, toast was toasted too much it crumbled away and was a bit burnt. The eggs was also like being left under a lamp due to staff not paying attention. when aske to order ice cream we were met with a sour face from more than 3 staff who was just standing around taking. Staff were young and didn't seem like they wanted to work there. It's a shame for the cafe because it's in a very good place but we will definitely not go back.
