This is an attractive Pub - well appointed from the outside and located I. The centre of Much Hoole village. Inside it is quite characteristic and the bar staff themselves are well mannered and friendly. The beer wine and spirits are well priced so a few drinks with friends is relatively inexpensive. The downside to this establishment is the customer base that all seem local and are not overly friendly. It’s not a case of everyone stops talking and the music stops playing but you do get funny “ who are you?” type looks!

Lovely village pub serving a good selection of real ales and lagers. Very comfortable and set up to watch sport on the TV's. We had a very nice pint of ale and some superb wine. Service and locals very friendly welcoming. Shame they don't do food but they were happy for us to pop to the village store next door to get some hot sausage rolls and pies.

Just a spit from the busy main road this little pub is lovely! It has such a cosy feeling with attentive staff and friendly atmosphere. As dusk rolled in the candles are lit and it really did make for a lovely afternoon/evening. They have live entertainment on a Saturday too.. We're sure to return... But first perhaps we will try quiz night!!

The pub was taken over a few months ago. The pub before hand was run down, and empty most of the time! Since the revamp and new ownership, not only the interior but the exterior look amazing. The pub has guest ales constantly, numerous shorts that you wouldn't normally find in a pub. They have started doing food, and for pub grub, the service and quality of food is amazing, and is well priced. The staff are friendly, and will help any way they can. The pub recently had a beer festival, and everyone I spoke to said it was a great event with lots of street foods and guest ales available. Well worth a visit!!

Went on my dinner hour for lunch, we were greeted by a very friendly polite barmaid. We both had the soup of the day (chicken and sweetcorn) which was delicious. My boyfriend upgraded his to soup & sandwich for extra £2.50 and he definitely got his money's worth! Very good quality food, would highly recommend and we will be returning again. I had only been once before last year (before it had been revamped) and it is a total transformation in both decor and atmosphere! A lovely local pub now

Having had a few false stats since charismatic Landlord Lee Holmes moved on it seems that under new ownership and free of a brewery tie this typical local pub may have a chance! This a tidy up and lick of paint inside and out a comfortable a "feel good" atmosphere has been created. A good choice of real ale and cross section of lagers served by friendly staff makes a difference. The food offer is yet to be tested by ourselves but that's a matter of time only as feedback is positive. It's a pity that a degree of commercialism has crept in as the car park now has planning permission for housing - small as it was! So car parking is likely to be a problem at a the corner of a congested junction by a busy local shop and Ina bus route. What were the planners thinking and has the owner made a mistake. Time will tell but as a watering hole it will still be popular with the locals!

I might be being bias as I work at the pub myself, but I can't honestly say the chef Lewis makes the BEST steak and ale pie. I have had numerous things from the menu and all been fantastic. From well presented starters to heart warming home made mains & yummy deserts. All home make grub which wont leave you unsatisfied. The pub is warm, friendly with a great atmosphere. A must visit for anyone wanting live music on a Saturday night or just some good old pub grub! With fantastic bar staff too ;-)

Nipped in for a pint, was asked if we wanted food so we said we would have a look at the menu. We got recommended the pies. So we ordered the steak and ale pie and the chicken and leek pie. Food came quickly and was the best pie, chips and peas I have had in while. Very reasonable price, cannot fault it! Just what you want from a local pub.

From the moment you walk into the newly refurbished and renamed 'Th'Owd Smithy Inn' you know you've walked right into a little gem in the heart of Much Hoole village. With no other decent pubs in the surrounding area, a good amount of knowledge from the purveyors of the quality ales and pie's that they sell really becomes apparent... I had one of the local brewers ales called 'the bees knees' brewed across in Feniscowles and what a cracking pint, served by one of the fantastic bar girls, attentive, witty and ultimately professional. The food is outstanding, the steak an ale pie is scrumptious, the steak literally melts in your mouth. Its well worth a visit whether a local or a traveller, you won't be disappointed.!

Visited here recently with some friends on a Saturday night.Upon entering we were met with a busy well decorated pub which had a real good vibe to it.The drinks are well priced and the service from the barmaids was first class. As the night went on the pub got busier and busier and we were really well entertained by the singer.I think they have entertainment on every weekend which is a real bonus as not many pubs in the area have any live music anymore.Had a fantastic night, great atmosphere, everyone friendly and having a great time.Exactly what a pub should be like. We'll be back again soon.
