Proper little old English cafe with lovely food

11 of us went for afternoon tea and we had the best experience. With a range of allergies they catered for everyone and made us all welcome. Extremely good value for money and we all have plans to go back. Food was incredible and home made. Nothing can be improved, I can’t wait to go back.

I buy the occasional coffee here and watch the world go buy. Good local business with reasonable prices.

Just had a fantastic brunch with our grandson. Staff are lovely, the food was high quality and well cooked. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Fabulous omelette and hash browns. Very friendly and quick service, seemed a very popular place, glad I booked a table. This is clearly somewhere important for the community, as the staff knew some of the elderly regular locals and even what they would order. Definitely a place where you can go for nice food, a nice atmosphere and a chat if you are feeling a bit lonely.

The place is really nice and the food it was so good. There was a slow service but not so unpleasant at the end. I will back surely.

A lovely little tea room with friendly helpful staff. Found it due to looking for a drink stop on a bike ride. Definitely will be revisiting when in the area.

This is such a lovely cafe, the food is great and the staff are honestly so nice and helpful. I asked if they use margarine or butter in the cakes as I can't have cows milk and they were so helpful. Baby friendly too and plenty of highchairs. Easily my favourite cafe in the area 😊

We were warmly welcomed and shown to a table.All the waiting on staff were very friendly and efficient. The tearoom is decorated in a lovely way. The menu is varied. We had the black pudding stack and an omelette. They were both cooked beautifully and were delicious. Highly recommend it.

So, after going here regularly for over a year we turn up today to be told they're no longer taking orders at 2.15pm. There was a table free, no reserved signs. We mentioned this to another member of staff who said they were busy but they could make us a sandwich. Then the owner came out and said that actually there were no tables. We complained that we hadnt been treated very well, particularly by the young lady who always seems to have a bit of attitude. We said we had driven there and are good, regular customers but we wont be going anymore, to which the owner didnt seem in the least bothered. Very disappointing, but this was a really bad way to treat loyal customers!

I was a regular and called in today at 1415 for a soup and sandwich. I was asked had I booked by the waitress. I replied no and was told by the waitress they had tables available but were not taking any orders. I asked to speak to the owner but was spoken to by another waitress who did try to help. She told me to sit at a table and they would serve ne a sandwich. I asked if they could serve me soup and she said she needed to check there was some left. After a few minutes the owner approached me and told me they were fully booked and had no tables. Somebody was obviously telling me lies. I appreciate they were busy but just expect honesty. They were not so I will not returning..

This is a fabulous cafe. I call in a few mornings each week for breakfast, usually poached eggs on toast, but occasionally treat myself to their full breakfast. Its enormous and delicious, I can eat big time but this fills me to the brim, I'd recommend it! The staff are fab and really look after you. I'm pleased the Tea Pots in my village. Do get too jealous lol.

Very busy, kids/half term, and we hadn't booked but they went out of their way to fit us in. Had to wait for about 25 minutes but the food was of an excellent quality and plenty of it. Along with the prices being very reasonable we will definitely come again but when the kids are back at school that's for sure.

Fairly busy but enjoyed a nice English breaky

Beautiful cafe and food was delicious too. They looked to do a great afternoon tea but has to be prebooked . We sat outside as lovely and sunny but lots of inside seating too. Really lovely cafe / tearooms and very clean , lovely decorated.

Today my veggie breakfast was spot on, I loved the hash browns and 2 perfect poached eggs topped off with 2 big rounds of granary toast pushed me to the limit. My good lady had avocado toast again which she said was very good. Must mention the full flavour coffee is one of the best I have ever had PLUS it was hot which these days is rare and you know what I mean?. Finally the ever so friendly staff always make it a joy. Thanks to the owners for keeping prices down. 2 full quality breakfast and coffee's for under 20 quid.

Had Rachel do a buffet for my husband's 70th for 30 people, it was amazing, everybody loved everything from sandwiches, Samoa's, spring rolls, chicken drumsticks, sausage rolls, onion Baja's, homemade coleslaw, and a selection of cakes, homemade scones, Choc cake, Choc brownies, lemon drizzle cake. Everything was sorted from day of ordering to picking it up. Would recommend and without a doubt use Rachel again.

First time, loved it, food was fab, staff lovely, nice and relaxing Ordering outside catering from them. A lovely quaint teashop you don't see anymore.

Lovely staff 😊 food was delicious! Had a tuna panini and the goats cheese and chutney 😍 nice fresh side salad, coleslaw was really really nice! Chips 10/10 too! Took a rocky road, a brownie and a piece of cake home, all very nice! Will be booking for an afternoon tea soon!

Great breakfast at a good price.

We went for lunch on Saturday 1st July. The staff were lovely, we chose a table right by the door and due to the change in weather, we were asked if we would like to move further in to the room, when some tables had finished, as it was blowing on our backs. I am dairy intolerant and asked of they had dairy free alternatives and the girl went to enquire, returned to inform me they did and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Staff were extremely helpful and efficient. We were visiting the area with family and ordered several afternoon teas to takeaway, along with other options available on the ‘outside catering’ menu. Rachael was in communication with me in a timely manner throughout. The food itself was very good - home made sausage rolls, quiche and sandwiches were all fresh and tasty. The whole family enjoyed it! We also visited The Village Teapot for a coffee during our stay and the service was excellent. A lovely lady served us who was polite and very patient with our 2 children who were ordering bespoke ice cream dishes! Coffee was good too. I would highly recommend this cafe for a visit or any outside catering needs you have.

We had an afternoon tea and they did everything to make it enjoyable for all and even did the added touch of baby girl cupcakes and biscuits because it was a baby shower. All staff were very friendly and the food was delicious.

Lovely quirky cafe with lots of lovely features! We had afternoon tea.....Our boys loved the teapots....however it would have been even more lovely if they also got a proper tea cup rather than a mug...spoilt the effect a little. Food was lovely and we all enjoyed it (2 adults and 2 children). It would have been nice if children got a selection of sandwiches instead of just a choice between ham, cheese and something else that I can't remember but both sandwiches had to be the same. Would have been better to have a selection of finger sandwiches like the adult afternoon tea. There is a play area for younger kids which is such a lovely idea and if my boys were younger I would have appreciated being sat where our table was but as my boys are a bit older now and not interested in play kitchens as much, it was more of a hindrance because our table felt like it was in the way for other people wanting to get to the play part. If I had known the table would have been a bad location when we got there I would have requested a different table but we only realised it was annoying having people going past constantly once we were eating so we just tried to ignore it. This won't put me off going again in the future....I just know to request a table away from the play area. Lovely restaurant and ambience.

Lovely cafe Nice to have toys and books to keep children entertained. Good layout in village location Food very disappointing. Despite being “home cooked” Got there after 11.30am so didn’t realise you could still order breakfast as the menu said breakfast served until 11.30am So ordered a child’s sandwich, crisps and veg Adults goat cheese panini and chips. My son is good eater, but he hardly touched his lunch, said he didn’t like it. Some of my chips were hard. Clearly they were frozen chips. Not home cooked. My panini was tasteless. I am disappointed, to say the least. The girl at the till asked me if the food was ok, and I said fine, as I don’t like to cause a scene. But for over £16 it was just not worth the money. It was a long 40 min drive for a disappointing lunch. Sorry but I won’t be going back.

This place is a hidden gem, I have driven past so many times but have just never been in. Me, my mum and sister visited and had the autumn afternoon tea for my sisters birthday, we have had many afternoon teas over the years and this is definitely one of the best we’ve had. Everything was so delicious, the sausage roll was something else and the sandwiches lovely and soft. You could tell lots of effort had gone in to every little bit. The apple crumble with warm custard part way through was a lovely surprise too and the unlimited tea and coffee is a massive bonus. A special mention must go to the lovely girls who were serving us as they are a credit to you. We can’t wait to come back again very soon. Thank you for a lovely afternoon :-)

I felt the need to post this review due to rhe amount I was charged for a takeaway. Two chicken salad sandwiches one scone and on Rocky Road it was £14.75 sandwiches were on bread in a box with a few crisp bit of coleslaw and salad. Safe to say I will not be going again for a sandwich.

Lovely afternoon tea for two. Highly recommend . The food was lovely and service fab. Had to bring some home as we were full. The mini soup was very tasty. Overall a lovely experience for my sisters belated birthday and I highly recommend.

Absolutely incredible! We where a large booking with dietary requirements (pre-booked). The food was excellent, the service was friendly and it was really competitively priced. Have to say as someone with a dairy allergy, I often am left disappointed when out for food, especially afternoon tea, but that was absolutely not the case with the village teapot. It was so good, we booked again before we left! Highly recommended!

Me and my daughter came here for lunch on Good Friday. The food was absolutely delicious and it arrived quickly after ordering, the service was excellent with a very welcoming smile. The menu has a wide selection of food on it and is really well presented and extremely tasty. The tea room is modern with proper tea rooms decorated vibes about. I would recommend this place 100% and I will returning in near future hopefully to sample the afternoon tea.

A very well presented, clean and tidy cafe. A good menu, nice staff & quick service. Enjoyed the visit and the black pudding hash was nice however my husband had the full breakfast and found some parts over done hence the 4 stars. Reasonable cost for the meals and drinks. Table service is operated here. Parking on the small car park at the side otherwise on the road.

We have visited on a number of occasions and it's always been a lovely experience. This time it was for afternoon tea for six of us. Nothing was too much trouble. The room is always lovely, clean, beautifully decorated with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food was delicious, particularly the lentil soup, of which mother actually asked the chef for the recipe! Thank you for another lovely lunch, we'll definitely be returning!

So disappointed, we had a lovely breakfast and was told you were dog friendly, as others have reviewed, recommended to friends who arrived with their very well behaved dog only to be turned away quite abruptly. Dog owners please be aware this is not a dog friendly cafe.

Went here a few weeks back, cracking food, plenty of sandwiches and a home made sausage roll and quiche and then scones and cakes as well, almost too much food, unlimited tea as well and they had a really good selection, I went for the mint and then earl grey, put the ivy in Edinburgh to shame where we went the month before in terms of quantity and I'd say the quality is just as good, not had the best afternoon teas recently but would definitely go back here

The dining space is spacious and tastefully decorated. The staff are attentive without being overbearing and nothing is too much trouble. The food is of exceptional quality and the portions -generous. The fish, chips and mushy peas are especially good and the best I've had in many a year. The hotpot is something to write home about too! Proprietor Rachael has even provided a play area for young children.

One of, if not, the best cafe around me. The food, staff and atmosphere are brilliant.

I’m a regular tea pot visitor and it never disappoints. We usually go for breakfast and the avocado on toast is the best around! Today we called for delicious cakes and coffee. Always greeted with a friendly face and warm smile. Really makes you feel at home. I’ve also ordered afternoon tea to take away and that has been equally good too. Would recommend for any occasion. Always accommodating for range of diets and requirements.

Recommended by a friend, The Village teapot was outstanding for Afternoon Tea! There was the right balance of savoury and sweet and beautifully presented! The savoury plates consisted of : Soup, quiche, special sausage roll, salad and a selection of sandwiches. The sweet plates consisted of cheese cake , meringue, chocolate brownie, macaron, scone with separately served butter, Rhoddas clotted cream and strawberry jam and garnished with strawberries and blueberries. Both courses were yummylicious and I'll certainly be returning soon. Thank you ladies for a lovely afternoon! Catherine

Beautiful place with very attentive staff, they couldn't do enough for us. We had afternoon tea for 2 and it was the best weve ever had!! There was plenty of food for 2 and all of it home made. Very deserving of a 5 star review. Looking forward to going back

All the ladies and the new gent are so friendly and wonderful. I try and go as often as possible as their americano is the best I've ever had and I'm a coffee connoisseur . Their cakes and bacon butties are fabulous too.
