Thornham Deli in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

We stayed at the Thornham Deli for 2 nights - we stayed in a dog friendly suite and it was beautiful - spacious and modern. Breakfast was great and lots of choice from the menu. We had eaten at the deli before in the summer but this was the 1st time we stayed there and we wil definitely be back. It is a great location for exploring the north Norfolk coast

First visit and had a very pleasant breakfast. Reason it did not get five stars was because the toast order was incorrect.Staff polite. Toilets clean.

Terrible value for money, IMO! Outside of central London, I don't think I've ever felt so mugged off for food value. Our sandwiches were two slices of granary bread, with a slice of hock ham, served with a small side salad and a handful of hand-cooked chips. Tasty enough and the staff were lovely, but for £10-50 each, I was expecting half a baguette and to feel full, when I was done. Honestly, I could have made a similarly sized lunch for 4 four adults, using supermarket finest ingredients, for much less than that, and they'd have had a nice drink each, too! The fact that it was served in a cardboard box suggests they were suitably ashamed of it! Never again!! For comparison, I had a large and filling ploughman's at a farm's café, elsewhere, the following day, for £7.

Brilliant deli, great food, lovely ambiance, helpful and friendly staff. We love it there and always visit when we are in the area. What more do you need to know? Yes,it gets very busy so you may have to wait in peak times but there are lots of little nooks and crannies to sit. Oh, and it’s dog friendly.

I am slightly biased as I have given a 5 star review in 2022 but things can change not always for the better. However in this case this place is still as excellent as ever. Went for Sunday Roast ( chicken) and it was brilliant. So tasty, good portions and excellent value for money. More than that though the welcome I got from Denise and Ben was so nice and they make you feel at home. Gemma the chef takes pride in what she creates and she should be very proud of her achievements. In fact all the staff I encountered were smiley and friendly. You don’t have to book either which is handy. So thanks again. Delboy.

This spot is great for brunch and coffee and cake. The cheesecake was amazing and coffee the best in North Norfolk. The servers were friendly and efficient.

I recently visited with my family of 3 kids and 2 dogs and i had never felt more welcome by a business in many years. The service was lovely even with my very excited pups, we were served by a young woman named Mia who was both polite and smiley at all times! How pleasant! This is the first Friday we have been in Norfolk for a while so took the opportunity to dine at the Thornham Deli. It didn’t disappoint . We both had Lamb which was cooked perfectly followed by bread and butter pudding.The service by Denise and Tom was spot on not too quick and not too slow.All in all a thoroughly enjoyable night.will certainly go again if we are about on Fridays.

I went just to buy a couple of things. I was waiting patiently behind a couple of people, dressed in shorts and t-shirt, as I had been out for some exercise. A man came in and pushed to the front of the queue, dressed in all the country gear. The staff were only too keen to serve him. When I mentioned that there was a queue and that I was waiting first, both the staff and the customer ignored me. I repeated the point in case I had not been heard, but with the same result. I left my items and walked out. In my view, this is a pretentious establishment and I will never go there again. Silly me, I should have worn a wax jacket over my exercise gear.....

I have been following this business on fb for a while and decided to pay a visit when we were on holiday. The menu is huge and it was hard to choose as so many delicious sounding meals. We chose the ploughmans and shared it and it was delicious-black bomber cheese was good. Dog friendly and the service was okay. The decor is lovely inside even though we sat outside. I was a little disappointed by the shop because nothing caught my eye that was worth the price tag...although we did buy a cake from the deli counter.

First visit for both of us and was a disappointing experience. Had to pay for parking which wasn’t expected. Wait for a table and then didn’t get what I ordered . Been given gluten free when I had asked for Low GI so they left a sausage off as well. I told the server when he bought the meal I didn’t ask for gluten free and he looked really confused another server passing said oh they are the same ! But then I realised I hadn’t got my sausage ! Asked a lady who seemed in charge and she said she would sort but said well you have been given extra bacon like I should be grateful ! I did get the toast and sausage after a wait. Just felt they lack customer care. Prices are high and the shop is so overpriced. Toilets had no soap and towel was soaking wet just lacked finesse when I feel you are paying for high quality. Won’t bother returning

I went to Thornham Deli in July 2024 and had an amazing time there. I had a lovely brunch of American pancakes and maple syrup and a breakfast smoothie that was also great! After we had eaten, I had a quick look around the shop and bought a few things. Overall, we had a fabulous time and I would definitely recommend this lovely little place!

We stayed at Annas House and had breakfast three mornings, at Thornham Deli thoroughly enjoying each one. Great food served by lovely people in a very relaxed atmosphere. The menu was varied and reasonably priced, we would definitely come again if in the area. The deli has a good selection of goodies and the shop sells all sorts of things from furniture to pictures and vases, from toiletries to soft furnishing as well as clothes, even including a pre-loved section. The Deli is on the bus route and also has plenty of car parking space.

Called in for a coffee and cake stop on our coastal road trip. The staff were pleasant and enthusiastic, but the coffee and cakes were average. I had hoped being a "deli" they would have some different offerings.

Very average visit with poor customer service. A real shame as it’s got great potential - wouldn’t be somewhere I’d recommend to friends and family.

Whilst staying in Thornham we popped in for coffee and cake. We opted for scones with cream and jam. Lovely little venue and friendly service.

It was a busy Easter Saturday but we were greeted and seated straight away. The waiter (with the sparkly shoes!) was delightful. He was friendly, efficient and genuinely enjoyed serving us. We had breakfast and the coffee and food were delicious. Excellent overall experience. Great atmosphere and super gift shop too. Can’t wait to return.

Overpriced and poor standard of cooking - a family of four and two of us had eggs (one poached, one fried, both overcooked). My Full English had more mushrooms than anything else (I like them, but not that much) and came with smoked bacon. Again, I like smoked bacon but not on a Full English. One of my daughters had a waffle - how they can justify > £7 for a single (very small) waffle with a bit of maple syrup is beyond me. I certainly wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone unless they specifically asked for style over substance.

We went for a light lunch, and we was greeted buy very proffessional upbeat staff who made you feel very welcome even though it was very busy. We had the crayfish baguette with side salad which was really fresh and tasty along side really nice Cappuccinos. And even better it was Dog friendly. We will definitely be back.

Changed but not for the better. Breakfast was disappointing. Kedgeree was poor with little smoked haddock. Poached eggs were over-cooked. This is the second time in a row we have been disappointed. It used to be excellent but has overextended.

Very disappointing. We have been visiting here happily for many years but our recent brunch was very disappointing. Think TD has become a victim of its own success. The menu has changed considerably with lots more veggie/vegan options which is great if you want halloumi/feta with everything, not so good it you’re an old fashioned meat/fish eater. The food we had was average at best, served in plastic dishes. Odd for a sandwich eaten inside. Prices have shot up as well ( 2 sandwiches, 2 coffees £34 ) and the loud trance dance music being played through the restaurant made for a tortuous experience. Hardly in keeping with its clientele. Still, I don’t suppose the owners will be bothered - it’s a new group of tourists each week. Take the money and run. Will not be visiting again.

We’ve visited this place and stayed in their B&B number of times, and we can see how the place change over the time. What was once absolutely charming and sweet with great atmosphere place, became over time very commercialised soulless shopping centre. I can fully appreciate they tried to expand; however, that could have been done much more sensible and tasteful.

This is a great place with a varied menu that caters for many tastes. The lovely, friendly staff are exceptional. Today I ordered a ham and mushroom omelette, expecting it to be light and fluffy just as it should have been; instead it was a solid, heavy mass of overcooked frittata folded in two. The ham was rashers of bacon. Not good. Didn't mention it as staff were so busy, it's the first time we've been dissatisfied and it won't prevent us from returning.

We have been going to this deli for years, the food & service is excellent and I am sure we will visit at least one more time this year. Mr & Mrs Fussy

This is such a fabulous place to visit or stay. We have visited on many occasions and love the dog friendly relaxed atmosphere. The menu choice is fantastic and caters so well for all. We stayed for 2 nights in the suites and thought the decor and furnishings were exceptional. The staff are wonderful, Alex in the cafe is such a friendly welcoming asset to the team. We would highly recommend.

We really enjoyed Thornham Deli. The menu was extensive, the service was very friendly and the food was delicious. We loved the decor and the fact that our group had 4 dogs too! Plenty of room for us to sit and enjoy. We will be back!

A delightful , well run cafe with front of house staff who know their stuff and provide excellent attentive service. Also gold glitter footwear , attention to detail and customer needs only added even more to the fabulous experience. As for the food … we went twice for breakfast and were blown away by the quality of the dishes. Absolutely fantastic!! Dogs are well catered for and when we visited in Feb , a huge welcoming roaring log fire in the hearth. We will be back.

Fabulous place to eat, drink and shop. Very busy but you can understand why. They’ve done it well, thanks to the great chefs in the kitchen the food is excellent with lots of choice. It’s a place to stay healthy fab, salads and Tom Yum Soup (which was delicious and filling) or be really naughty with some super puddings and cakes which looked dreamy. The deli counter, local food and spirits and some very nice gifts will keep you coming back.

Visited the restaurant, which is part of the delicatessen shop, one lunchtime during the week. I would advise arriving early as it fills up quickly. Had a really lovely lunch there. Probably my only criticism would be that there are almost too many food choices, but the winter warmer menu is good value and the food is plentiful; it gives the feeling of being home cooked and is very tasty. The staff are really lovely, friendly and helpful.

Our first visit food and service perfect. How about a separate area for people with dogs we don’t all love dogs especially when we are eating,just a thought as we had four dogs on the table next to us.

Be careful! During busy periods when the service is slow you will be hit with £100 parking fine for overstaying your welcome!

So nice that you are staying open when most are shutting for January. Lovely to come to for breakfast each morning or lunch. The steak and kidney pud is great. Nice to sit by the fire with a cup of and toast or a sausage sandwich. So thanks for staying open for us locals and visitors.

Sorry TD. Having been here quite a few times and reviewed highly in the past, I feel TD is now packing in the people, lacking staff, not looking after the restaurants/ toilets and getting lots of business on the back of its name in the past. It’s a shame. When we arrived, 2 January, pouring with rain, it was heaving. We were told 10 minute wait and that was not a problem. The lady came to me about 10 minutes later, very friendly, and said our table was ready. We ordered two drinks, poached eggs on sourdough with tomatoes and chilli, along with poached eggs on toast. In both cases, especially the latter, poached eggs are the headline act. When they arrived, all four eggs were warm at best, and hard. Not a runny yolk in sight. My wife’s toast was dry, no butter. Yes it says poached eggs on toast, but this was the no frills version, see picture. Had to ask to get some butter so my wife had some moisture in her breakfast. My food was lovely except the eggs being hard. The general area to eat in is tired in parts and quite dirty, yes possibly the weather, but I feel it could do with a good clean daily. The toilets were in poor condition, no toilet paper and dirty too. Waited in a queue of 8 to pay, no one available to take our money. Maybe overwhelmed with work but gave an underwhelming meal. Sorry TD. Better places to have meals now. Go back to the basics you had, smaller menu, more staff, sometimes less is more.

We visited for lunch on New Years Eve and had an expected 15 minute wait for a table as you can’t book. There is a dedicated area for people with dogs. Just be warned if can be quite cold so later up. There is a very extensive menu and a dedicated page of food for vegans which also has a great choice, which is a big attraction for us, and quite unique for this area. The only snag was that we ordered the nourish bowl from the Vegan menu and it came with goats cheese. We weren’t aware it was also available on the main menu, and the waitress who took our order didn’t clarify. Once informed, the waiter was very apologetic and the vegan version arrived very quickly. Excellent service, pleasant staff, nice ambiance. Just be clear when ordering if you have dietary requirements.

Thank you Alex for your 'loveliness' you seem to swiftly move around serving us, tidying other table, making us feel welcome. You even opened the door for my husband who was struggling. The food is fabulous, but we know this which is why we return. Alex was the icing on the cake; the feel good factor. Thank you.

Can I get GF food please I asked after a 30 minute wait to get a table on a Monday No problem I was told by the staff WRONG! No catch of the day, run out of gammon and no pork ( both on menu for the day) Couldn't see anything else that was GF, was offered pasta but I have that regularly at home. No puds were GF. So we walked ,the only good thing they decided not to charge for the one glass of wine we had, which was kind of them.

Always loved coming to the deli after a long walk but unfortunately it was cold until the place filled up, the food wasn't great, the plastic tumblers are grubby from the dishwasher but the staff are really lovely. Loos looking a bit tired and the general cleanliness overall has slipped. As for the shop, you do expect to pay a little more from a deli for food and drink but the clothes in particular are extortionate. Such a shame as its normally a lovely place to visit when on holiday.

Great food. Extensive menu. Happy, enthusiastic staff - what more can you want? Be warned though, the Thornham Deli is more than a deli. It has rooms, but we didn’t stay there, there’s a great shop alongside the deli, with lots of different things to tempt a purchase or two, a great place to eat and superb coffee. We have been there twice for breakfast, which we thoroughly recommend.

This is a great find. Thorham has a gem, only open during the day, which is a massive disappointment as the menu and atmosphere is excellent. You can take well-behaved dogs. Lots to choose from on the menu, and it's delicious.
