Just had a weekend of the very best and the very worst of what Mid Devon has to offer. The very best in the Agricultural Inn at Brampford Speke ( see separate review) and the very worst in the breakfast we suffered at Thorne’s Farm Shop. A combination of local recommendations and TripAdvisor reviews meant that we had been looking forward to trying Thorne’s for weeks. How disappointed we were. Poor quality ingredients badly cooked dried out under a heat lamp and then served swimming in grease by staff that clearly didn’t care and didn’t understand the concept of social distancing or the restrictions intended to keep us all safe. An average greasy spoon café would do better shame on you.

We went to Thorne’s Farm shop to pick our own pumpkins. I think it had been really busy as there were not too many left. Our four year old still had fun though. Good selection of local produce in the farm shop and well worth a visit.

Visited here for PYO, having had a quick look around the farm shop we decided to have lunch here, glad we did. Lovely food, very reasonably priced and the added bonus of a wonderful view. Would highly recommend.

Have been before and enjoyed the food, unfortunately today we must have been an inconvenience. No interest from the staff to bring a menu. After 15 minutes decided to go elsewhere.

Having had many lovely lunches here we opted to go with friends to one of their monthly speciality evenings. This one was a curry night. Four courses were £18 each - fab value. All home made. Poppadum's with all the dips followed by onion bhajis, then three curry's, rice and nan and sorbet to finish. Would recommend highly.

Had a lovely late lunch (if you want the cooked specials then it's before 3pm) while my friend had the coffee and muffin. Friendly, welcoming service and top notch toilet facilities! My fishcakes came with a beautifully presented salad at a reasonable price of under £6.We then visited the pick your own section and came away with a mountain of strawberries and raspberries.Oh! And hubby liked his present of Hanlon's and Bay's ales from the good sized and interesting shop! Why haven't I visited before?

We visited here today on an absolutely beautiful day. The farm shop is lovely. The lunch cooked to perfection by two really hard working ladies. They cook, serve and run the shop at the same time. Do visit we loved it.

We so love coming here for our breakfast treat once in a while, we always get such a warm and friendly welcome from all the staff, especially Beccy, who cooks a fantastic full English, free range eggs, tasty sausages and bacon, served up with mushrooms, tomato's and toast, only quibble I have is the tomato's could do with being introduced to the flame for a bit longer. All the produce served for the breakfast is also available to purchase from the farm shop, so you know everything is really fresh. A really good value for money breakfast at a fine establishment.

We've been here many times for strawberry picking, and to source local veg from the farm shop, there is also a very good butchers department too, again all locally sourced, and great value too. The kitchen has now expanded, and you can enjoy a superb breakfast or lunch, all local products all cooked on site. The staff tare always friendly, and service is very sift. The full English breakfast is to die for, and very reasonably priced, so we regularly have a breakfast here now even if we're not there to pick our own fruit and veg. The Farm shop is also getting in more and more locally sourced gods, the Hogs Bottom sauces are a must try, try them on your breakfast first, and you'll be hooked as we were. The cream teas are also to die for, home made scones and local jam and cream, don't forget the Devon way is best, so cream on first.

This goes to the top of our 'cycle from Exeter for breakfast' list. Great local food. Great coffee. Charming, good humoured efficient staff. Nice airy space. Plenty of parking. And cheap cheap cheap. Not the fastest breakfast becuase the food is cooked fresh rather than pre-cooked and kept warm.

Thanks to a jam on the M5 we were routed through the country lanes and found this place. They are mostly a farm shop, with a lovely array of fresh fruit and a butcher's counter.
