Lovely local bakers. Popped in for a sandwich on our arrival for a weekend stay in Skipton. Great choice and friendly staff and locals - who even did a great "sell" on the lemon Danish pastries, which were superb and so large we had to share!

Amazing selection of fresh bread, sandwiches, pastries and sweet treats. Staff friendly and helpful and the shop was immaculately clean. We got the Ham Salad & Cheese Savoury sandwiches, both were decently priced & tasted great. Will definitely be returning when we next visit Skipton.

I dropped in here looking for a (non-meat) sandwich for lunch. Very limited choice (it was a bit late I guess) so I had to make do with a spicy cheese roll. Not overly special but it met the immediate need.

I have been buying bread here for sometime and I like it but find I do have to get there promptly otherwise it is gone. The cheese scones and date & walnut scones are very good too.

Visited here on a day out in Skipton as it seemed to look nice from the outside. This place has great service with many people getting served at once as it was busy at lunch time and we was served immediately which was great. We ordered 3 sausage rolls, 3 teas and 3 custard tarts and it only came to £7.50 which we thought was very good for the amount we ordered. The food was absolutely delicious and was served nice and warm, the tea was lovely and didn't want it to end it was that nice. Very nice dinner at a great price and would definitely visit here again in the future.

Best Yorkshire Curd tarts in Skipton. Don't bother going to Greggs, they are not interested in pleasing Yorkshire folk.

A good range of breads, cakes and pies. Their cheese straws are particulaly appreciated. Quick and friendly service and do a good trade in luncheon pies for local workers.

My wife bought a "Doncker Loaf" and although expensive from what we would normally pay for bread, it made a tasty change. We ate it all and the next day, went back for two more to take home to Bolton. Upon arriving home, we sat with a pot of tea and ate a full loaf between us, with lashings of butter! Cannot wait for our next visit.

We visited Skipton and popped into Thomas the Baker for one of their take away sandwiches as we know there is always plenty of choice and they are fresh everyday. Friendly service, good choice of fillings as well as good value.

I can only assume that our experience at The Bay Horse fell far below their usual standards. If everyone encountered what we did, I imagine they wouldn't stay in business for long. First and foremost, I want to highlight that the front-of-house staff were excellent. They were attentive, genuinely apologetic for the issues we faced, and did everything within their power to make things right. Their efforts did not go unnoticed. However, despite their best efforts, we did not have a good experience. The service was painfully slow, even though the pub was only about half full on the evening we visited. We ended up skipping dessert because of the delay. It wasn’t due to the staff being idle—they were busy throughout—but it appeared to be a case of understaffing, which unfortunately impacted the overall service. As for the food, it left a lot to be desired. The children's meals were of poor quality—cheap, unappetizing, and served in meagre portions. Just because it's a children's menu doesn't mean it should consist of food that most adults would refuse to eat. The "pie of the day," a steak and ale pie, was another disappointment. The meat was dreadful—over 70% fat and completely inedible due to the excessive fat and cartilage. While the staff explained that the meat was pre-diced and purchased externally, it’s hard to believe that the poor quality wasn’t noticed during preparation. On the positive side, the pastry and gravy were quite good, but the vegetables were only lukewarm. Two of us ordered the pie, and neither of us could finish it due to the poor quality. To their credit, the staff did not charge us for these meals, as they were clearly unacceptable. Another mishap occurred when one member of our party ordered gammon but was instead served scampi. The scampi was only on the menu due to a lack of fishcakes, so it’s baffling how the kitchen mixed up these orders. The ticket was correct, meaning the error was entirely on the kitchen’s part. By the time the gammon eventually arrived, most of our party had already finished their meals. We chose this venue because it is part of the Vintage Inns chain, which is known for reliable quality in our area. Unfortunately, this visit did not live up to those standards. Being in the area for only two nights, this experience really disrupted our plans for dining out. I can only commend the front-of-house staff for their sincere apologies and genuine attempts to rectify the situation. However, they have no control over the kitchen, which is clearly where the real issues lie. It's a shame, as their efforts were overshadowed by the kitchen's shortcomings.

I can't say enough good things about this little coffee house! The food was delicious as was the coffee. Their hospitality was warm, inviting, friendly, funny - my list could go on and on. They have seating inside as well as outside. There are lots of yummy choices on their menu. The baked goodies are made fresh each morning by the owner (who was just so lovely). Honestly, this was our favorite place to grab a bite in Grassington.

We've visited many times and chosen from the breakfast menu which has always been first class. However today I decided to choose a punjabi lunch special which was brown lentil Dahl yogurt, salad and freshly made chapati, oh my word it was first class. Well worth the 36 mile round trip. The owner & waitress are lovely, so friendly and helpful and seem very genuine that you enjoy your visit. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed

Always a great experience, but yesterday was exceptional. We arrived way too early and could fully understand us having a lengthy wait, given that they had a large party of diners. This would put extra pressure on the kitchen and waiting staff. Despite this we were shown to our table and offered the menu's ( we were even offered a quieter table). Food was excellent, service spot on. This was my husbands first 'dine out' since his recent emergency heart surgery 3 weeks ago, so it was a much needed break for both of us. We alternate with their sister establishment, The Tempest. They are run like privately owned hostelries and far outstrip their competition. Highly recommend The Fountaine
