We had an amazing breakfast excellent quality food and wonderful service. Bought wonderful cheese and cold meats. Highly recommend a visit.

Michael's does a great 'Flinglish' breakfast and rather lovely sandwiches! Definitely worth a visit. You can also shop for the most wonderful sausages and other meats at the same spot!

Be sure to book a table to avoid disappointment. Best place for breakfast or lunch. Excellent quality with really friendly service. Take some of the cheese or meats also brilliant.

This was a good breakfast. Key message is YOU SHOULD REALLY BOOK.. we were there at the weekend and only heard about them while we were there. In the morning I phoned them asking if they had space.. after a bit of scratching about he confirmed a table is free in 10 mins and we went there. It was pretty full and tables by the windows reserved. We were seated at the back, right near the meat counter. That was fine, glass covered, no meaty smell at all, and we could admire all the cuts and items on display to buy later and take home for dinner (the lamb pinwheel was lovely). The full English breakfast was fantastic, really good quality sausages. All in all excellent and every was friendly.

Fabulous food, company and service/ great value for money and we were made very welcome. Knowledgeable local owner about the area . Lots of lovely food in the deli and butchery shop too.

First class . We were visiting as grandparents and ordered a celebration box for the new parents. The pate was superb, so much so we went back to buy more to take home with us. Will be calling in again each time we visit. Thank you Michael's

Just enjoyed the best meat sausage for supper in a while. Great awarding of the King’s sausage. Much deserved. A tasty ghost buster sausage also gave a great kick !

Stumbled across Michael's so popped in for light refreshments. What a gorgeous place. My grilled turkey with cranberry and Brie sandwich was delicious. Amazing deli counter and fresh meat on offer. I am only disappointed in the fact this place isn't anywhere near where I live. All you locals your very lucky to have this business on your doorstep

Heard from friends that this was a fabulous place for breakfast so made a special trip from Cirencester. I was not disappointed, I only had a bacon and mushroom sandwich but it was delicious and my pot of tea was perfect. I'll definitely visit again and mudt say that all the staff were really welcoming!

What a great find for breakfast. Ensure you book the day before or you might be disappointed. The breakfast was so delicious and top quality produce Michael and staff were brilliant too even though he is an Arsenal fan!!!

Absolutely super food. Can get a little busy as it's fairly small seating area. Well worth the wait. All freshly cooked and good value. Take home some meat,cheese or quiches they are great too !!

Amazing, tasty brunch. First visit definitely not the last! Had the sausage hash, and hubby had ham and egg breakfast. Quality meat, all locally produced. The staff was super friendly, lots of meat, cheeses, cakes and local produces available to buy from the deli. Little gem in Malmesbury, highly recommend!!!

We visited Malmesbury and whilst walking around the town found this place near the triangle and saw they did coffee so went in. Staff were friendly and we enjoyed our coffees so decided to go back for lunch. Lunch was even better, we had a Butchers breakfast which was amazing, black pudding, tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon, fried egg, hand made hash brown and the best sausage we have ever eaten. We also had eggs Benedict which came on wheat toast and with their own ham. Everything was delicious. We also bought some ham and black pudding from their extensive deli selection. It is the kind of place that you wish you lived near. Clearly very popular with locals and an excellent place all round.

A real gem. We stayed in Malmesbury for a few days as a mini break. We took our mini dachshund, Schnitzel, with us. We had breakfast here on a Thursday morning. It was delicious! I had the Eggs Benedict and my husband had the Lite Breakfast. Such lovely fresh food, beautifully cooked. Lovely staff too. They welcomed Schnitz, who enjoyed one of the award winning sausages all chopped up in his own little dish. Very happy puppa! We returned on the Saturday when it was a lot busier but managed to get a table. Equally as wonderful and we bought some sausages to take home. Highly recommended for breakfast or lunch.

Excellent. Beautiful home made and award winning burger. Also deli with cheeses, pastry and meat for sale. Everything looked delicious. A definite return.

Friends for dinner and a beautiful aged Rib of beef from Michael Thomas.Not only fantastic on the night,but gave us two more meals during the week. Both the quality and service are excellent.

We went to Michael's for breakfast and I absolutely couldn't fault it. The best ingredients, cooked to perfection, with superb, friendly service. If I was lucky enough to live in Malmesbury I would have breakfast there everyday.We also bought sausages for later and they were sensational.No idea why you would go anywhere else.

I have been supporting this establishment since the 70's. Visiting family from the USA and picked up sausages, lamb and a selection of cheese for dinner. Five star quality and service!

A group of us called for lunch. The bistro only has a small kitchen so it took a while for all eleven of us to be served, but the wait was worthwhile. Service was friendly, portions generous and the meat superb.

Dropped in for a light lunch and had a sausage and mushroom baguette and a cheese and tomato toastie. Both came with crisps, coleslaw and side salad. Absolutely delicious and very filling. Staff are very friendly. The whole place was spotless and clean and tidy. A very pleasant lunch. Also tempted by the various cheeses! May be back for some sausages yet!

Bistro style butcher selling the best meat, superb prize winning sausages and with a great selection of cheeses. As well as great food during the week the bistro opens on the first Saturday of each month when it hosts a very popular Steak Night!

We called in for lunch and we were very pleased with everything we received. Freshly cooked and delicious. We then went shopping for meat and cheese. Such a selection to choose from. We were very pleased and will be back soon.

Impromptu stop for quick lunch. What a find! A quality butcher proving excellent food in its in-house bistro with great service. More butchers should try this diversification.

Had the most amazing breakfast here last week as we were passing through. Such choice, but we settled on the small English. The sausages are the best ever! More than that the owner is very happy and treats all his customers, local or not, with the same curtesy. He is very interesting to talk to and extremely knowledgeable. Actually all of the staff were quite charming. We had planned to call in again on our way back from Devon to stock up with yummy food for our freezer at home but got caught up in the longest traffic jams all the way home but we will definitely make Michaels a destination stop as soon as we head south again.

A great traditional Deli without outstanding food. I come here every now and then to get their get breakfasts and baps. Quality food and fantastic staff.

Been all round the world from America to Dubai and this is probably the best burger I’ve ever had and the cheese definitely makes it. Will 100% be coming back. Who defiantly recommend.

My toasted chicken, onion and melted cheese sandwich was delicious, as was my husband's ham, egg and chips, and the warm hospitality of all the team was appreciated. Michael's Butchers has an alcohol licence, so a glass of Peroni each complemented our lunch nicely. Well worth a visit!

We only found out about this place earlier today and decided to give it a go. So very glad we did as I’m sure we will be regulars. Between our party, we had a light lunch of toasted sandwiches and breakfast. Being a butchers/deli as well, all the ingredients are fresh and top notch and everyone was very happy with what they had. Top that off with a friendly and fab service and no ridiculously extortionate prices, and you have the perfect place for lunch. We even bought our dinner for the next day.

Formerly Thomas the Butchers, it’s the same people with a new name, and remains the best place in Malmesbury for Breakfast/Brunch.

For a different coffee experience you could not find better. This is a long established Malmesbury Butcher who has incorporated a Café into his shop. You can now get the 'best Breakfast in the area' with your chosen meat prepared on the premises. You will have to walk away from the Town centre towards the war memorial at the 'Triangle' but it will be worth the effort. The coffee alone is worth checking out.

Not only a great butcher and deli but superb breakfasts, snacks and sandwiches topped off by the best Illy coffee.

We were not expecting to get a vegetarian meal in a butchers shop, albeit a bistro, so were delighted to find a homemade vegetarian quiche option accompanied by golden fluffy chips and a crisp salad with a tasty dressing. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming.

Visited this lovely deli and cafe a few days ago - bought some of the famous Malmesbury King sausages and had a cappuccino break in the cafe. The home-made coffee cake was the best I’d ever tasted, so light and luscious. I wish I’d had longer to browse all the delicious food on offer here. The cafe was dog-friendly too. Ate the sausages today and they were yummy.

Only stopped here for a quick drinks break but it must be said the food looked really good,and plenty of it to. Really friendly staff.

We were recommended to visit and we were not disappointed. The food was plentiful and of the highest standard of quality. Competitive priced and the service by all the staff and owners especially Thomas was a joy. Would recommend anyone visiting Malmsbury should go to this place.

Chanced upon this deli/butchers while ambling around Malmesbury looking for lunch. We had already rejected a number of very expensive and unappetising alternatives.

We went to lunch with two vegetarians and someone on a special diet and everyone found something to order that they could eat. The meals were nice, but not everything we ordered came - no chips (turned out to be a bonus as the toasted sandwich was generous) and no salad with the cold sandwich (some was provided when we asked again). The £2.99 milkshake was not nice with a lump of chocolate left at the bottom and half a glass of foam that could be eaten with a fork, but not drunk. Jacket potatoes with filling were £6.50, sandwiches were £4-5. No parking outside, but only 5-10 min walk from central car park. Traces of the original butchers shop visible e.g. china cows.

Stopped in Malmesbury with a work colleague for some lunch when in the area for a business meeting. We found Thomas Cafe easily and went in for lunch of toasted sandwiches and some olives and stuffed peppers from the deli. There is a wide selection of sandwiches and homemade pies etc to choose from. I had a toasted Turkey, Cranberry and Brie sandwich and it was very tasty and nicely presented. It is in a butchers shop but it is large and there is dedicated seating which was relaxed and clean. Prices are reasonable with my sandwich costing £5 The staff are friendly and helpful whilst you make you menu choices and the food is fresh made to order. A very nice place for lunch indeed... They have some great sausages too in the butchers counter, all homemade recipes.

although you can book breakfast,steak nights are once a month on the first Saturday of each month.This is a top quality butchers with a fantastic selection of local meat and cheeses.But once a month something special happens,Michael and Sandy our special people and the monthly Steak nights are a delight.But you have to book early to get in as there is only seating for 20.

We made an unscheduled stop in Malmesbury on our way from London to Edingburgh. As we visited the town center, we met two lovely ladies who referred us to Thomas' Butcher Shop. We had an absolutely lovely lunch! The food was delicious, the service was great and Michael is such a kind gentleman. We look forward to stopping again on our next trip to the UK!!!

Have been using Thomas of Malmesbury for nearly 10 years. The service is excellent staff are very knowledgable.

We have been meaning to have breakfast here for along time, but it’s always busy which is a good sign....returning from Australia and having jet lag, hence awake at a silly hour, were there very early for breakfast ! Great service, great food and delicious. Good sized portions and poached eggs were perfect. Nice little place to eat and will be back to try the sandwiches another time soon. I found this little gem by chance. I wanted to take my mum out for lunch and decided to give this a try. She is in a wheelchair and it is totally wheelchair accessible.

I arrived in Malmesbury in typical British countryside January weather. It was cold, wet, and windy and just not very pleasant at all. I was on my own with 4 hours to kill in a small town I had never heard of until that morning. After a short walk, I managed to find Thomas of Malmesbury and was very pleased to find that not only was I protected from the elements, but that they also had a great selection of meats, cheeses, drinks etc. Basically it had everything I could of asked for, and the breakfast was absolutely sublime. The staff were also incredibly friendly and welcoming, taking me in and letting me wait around, work on my papers, and order coffees.

Not just a fantastic butchers,but also great food using top ingredients.The selection of sausages is legendary.Also excellent home made cakes,a great selection of cheeses and a really good coffee machine.

Six friends visiting malmsbury, had one of the best breakfasts ever, chef so obliging catered for everyone's needs. Wonderful bacon and sausages.

Local people may not tell you about this place, just in case it gets too popular and they can't get a table. We've eaten here quite a few times and never been disappointed. Sandy, Michael and their staff provide excellent sandwiches home made cakes and meals. There is even a pretty garden at the rear with blankets or parasols dependent on the weather and where dogs are welcomed, even they get a little treat. As it is primarily a butchers/deli (hence the great quality food) with food served alongside the opening hours reflect this. So great for an early breakfast or lunch but no evening service. It's worth eating early and you can always pick up food for your picnic later.

Staying on holiday nearby in Tetbury. Had heard that this was the place to go for a good breakfast. We were not disappointed, lived up to expectations. Lovely friendly, efficient staff. Bought some of their award winning Malmesbury King sausages to take home. Can highly recommend!

Following other reviews decided to search this shop out for brunch one day. Not in the main High Street but worth the walk to find a friendly café set in a butchers shop, or in the rear garden if the weather is good! Excellent breakfast and breakfast sandwich at a reasonable price. Serving food until 3:00 pm so good for brunch when you need a good fry-up!

We visited for brunch while we were visiting Malmesbury and I opted for the sausage, egg and chips, which I'd say was the best that I can remember. The sausages were packed with meat and seasoned perfectly and the chips - mmmm yes please! The place had a rustic feel and didn't feel like most other butchers shops. I'd happily go back for more.

My wife no longer makes my bacon or sausage sandwiches, instead she is sent here. Absolutely amazing!

Popped in whilst on a day trip to Malmesbury. Plenty of choice on the menu - sandwiches were freshly made and generously filled. Definitely worth the short stroll from the Abbey to the Triangle to find it.

This is an excellent butcher's shop which also offers breakfast, lunch, snacks, home made cake and lots more. We have started going for breakfast once a week. The sausages are prize-winning and everything is cooked well.

Love this place and is the only place we buy out meat from now. The best sausages in the country by far and excellent and knowledgeable staff. I see they now have a small cafe doing breakfasts as well so even more reason to visit!

A few minutes walk away from the Abbey is Thomas of Malmesbury. The is part cafe, part local butcher, part deli and part just delightful. The cafe serves good homely food served from local suppliers - we had coffee and the bacon sandwiches - stunning on a cold morning. There is a good menu and local families were coming in and out - having coffee and buying food. The butchers is brilliant - excellent meats, award winning home made sausages and hams, great deli....if you like food there is great, if you just like a real ambience the come. Went to visit my mother in law at Stainsbridge house care home in malmesbury, after a horrible journey from Liverpool M6 and M5 traffic jams.

Went here a couple of times over Christmas for breakfast - it was really good, no doubt because the ingredients are all from the butchers! Really good value at less than a tenner for a full English and a coffee. Having been going to Thomas' for some time it's great to see the cafe doing well.

For me breakfast is the most important meal of the day.A satisfying breakfast fills you with joy and sets you up to face whatever challenges the day may bring.No surprise then that I chose to have a birthday breakfast in the cafe at the front of this butchers shop.I ordered a Butchers Breakfast and a large Americano with cold milk on the side.The coffee was very good.The breakfast was cooked perfectly with great sausage, bacon and eggs from the deli counter and black pudding to die for.This is no greasy Joe joint.Simply the best cafe in town.

I call here when ever in town to be honist i go out of my way when i want breaky i cauld talk all day about this place food is 1st class i put a review on about month ago but havent noticed it.all ther food is top quality bacon sausage amazing you can pick which bacon you like even mix it cooked to perfection homemade cakes pies quiesh coldslaw plus illey coffee its a must for eny one who likes proper food & real lovely people owners are there to serve you.

I live locally and have eaten in all my local cafes and restuarants and Michael has just beaten all of them. Thomas of Malmesbury is a butcher first who has diversified into a cafe too. It means you get the best possible local produce. The bacon and sausages cannot be beaten. I took the kids there this morning as a pre back to school treat. They loved it, as did I. I even liked the black pudding which is something I don't usually indulge in.

This Butchers shop in Malmesbury stocks some of the best meats and cheese for miles around. Michael and his team make all of the sausages on the premises and he has won the Country Life Best Sausage award for the Malmesbury King variety, although my family's favourite is the Colonel Mustard. The shop now has a cafe where you can get Breakfast and Lunch. Well worth a trip just to stock up on sausages!

Great home cooked food and great value for money. A very large and hearty breakfast all made from local produce. I have eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed. Another review mentioned the scotch eggs. I can confirm they are excellent.

Thomas's have recently added seats to their fabulous butchers & deli, serving all the excellent home-made pies, pasties, cakes and scotch eggs that Mrs Thomas makes herself from scratch. There's also a cafe menu with sandwiches and hot meals (their fabulous ham with egg & chips etc), daily soup and bread - again all home-made - and hot drinks. They're a couple of minutes' walk from the town centre, but absolutely worth seeking out - the butchery is the main business, and the meat is all scrupulously sourced so you can order with confidence whether you're buying to take away or eat in the cafe. We've been buying their meat for years and are never disappointed (try the chicken liver and country pates!). So pleased they've added somewhere to sit down and eat on site.
