The Cellar by Wine Monkey in Wiltshire

I recently had an unpleasant experience at Wine Monkey, where the staff’s attitude left a lot to be desired. Despite having visited the bar before and having been a paying customer, I was refused the use of the toilet on my most recent visit. The staff were rude and dismissive, making me feel unwelcome and as though my previous patronage didn’t matter. What’s worse is that the place was nearly empty, so it’s not as if they were overwhelmed with customers. For an establishment that also advertises itself as a coffee shop, it’s baffling to see such disregard for basic hospitality. If Wine Monkey doesn’t want to offer basic facilities to its customers, they should at least treat people with more respect. I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone expecting decent service.

Great atmosphere. Amazing food. Lovely spritzers and 0% wines. Perfect music (90s Brit Pop (Oasis) followed by eclectic 60’s / 70’s). Not too crowded or noisy.

Amazing place to visit, the wines are the best I have tasted, the owner Bryan is so knowledgable and the food options are very tasty. Perfect evening for me and my husband to enjoy a beautiful atmosphere with great service and better yet the wine! I am looking forward to attending one of the wine tasting nights coming up. Highly recommend the Cellar by Wine Monkey.

Not here for the wine... Here for the coffee.. which is fantastic! Always get great service here, staff smiley and happy to chat to customers while you wait. Really love the atmosphere although I've only had drinks to takeaway so far. Have some really great variety in coffee beans which I've started to buy to try at home too. Love it 👍

Very nice looking please the owner seemed very professional and no his staff so eny wine love should good there deftly. Thay have coffee now wich is cool. Thay did not give me a job wich suck but still cool place.😄😀😁🙂👍🍾🥃🥂🥂🥂

Wine and tapas which are great. The venue is shared with coffee and cake business. Very nice customer service and really nice food. Venue is ideal for everyone and allows well behaved dogs. Well presented washrooms. Clean and tidy operation with a lovely atmosphere. Well worth visiting when in Chippenham.

I mostly visit for a coffee, and it’s a new favourite - a great alternative to the ubiquitous chains, and it very much enriches the shopping area. I haven’t tried the food, but from what I’ve seen it looks very nice.

Obviously the best place for a wine in the local area! Busy busy but great atmosphere

The coffee is really good but I particularly like the chai latte. I recommend the lemon drizzle cake too!

Stopped for a drink, will definately book for one of their wine tasting evenings.

We popped in last night for the first time. Excellent service and atmosphere. The wine was great and the cheese platter was fab. We had great time and we will be back.

Been there Thursday with wife had 2 glases of wine and cheese platter. Cheese board especially good.

Visited for the first time and was very impressed. My group had both white and red wines, both were beautiful. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable and with bringing out bowls of water for our 4 legged friend and some lovely snacks for us, will definitely be back!

Awesome, and a breath of fresh air for Chippenham. Don't really want to review it as it'll raise it's profile and mean it'll be harder to get into in future! Staff were great, food really good and the wine was fab. 5* from me!

This is such a lovely wine bar. The owner is so knowledgeable and the staff make you feel so welcome. Vince is awesome. There is a great range of wines so I can order my favourites and also try something new. This is a great place to visit in Chippenham!

Went to a wine tasting evening and had a brilliant experience. Fab people, delicious food and wine, all set in a gorgeous venue with a great, friendly atmosphere. A bar and shop aswell so you can enjoy some drinks in or outside and take a bottle or two home with you. Great gifts for wine lovers.

Fantastic asset to Chippenham! Classy yet relaxed atmosphere, beautiful decor, and of course amasing wine. I've visited a couple of times now and each time there were enhancents to the menu and shop items. It's so nice to have a place where you can have a good wine with friends, where you can chat with the ownder and get the load down of where each wine was sourced, and I also love the sustainability angle! This is definitely becoming a new favorite spot in the heart of Chippenham. Thank you Wine Monkey!

Great place! All the wines we tried were really nice. The food is really tasty and nice it's local produce. We were served by Ryan and he was friendly and knowledgeable!

Lovely addition to Chippenham, does offer a great beer too for those of us who aren't big wine drinkers. All the staff were really friendly and the atmosphere was awesome.

Brilliant new venue - finally Chippers has a decent wine bar. Distinctly better value than the competition in Bath and the same refined yet relaxed feel with delicious wines.

What a fabulous venue. Great wine and friendly staff. Good music at a sociable level so we could hear each other. Chilled vibe and can sit outside on sunny evenings. Thoroughly recommend this recent addition to Chippenham.

Lovely new wine bar in borough parade, nicely laid out with plenty of seating, amazing knowledge of wines and serving some lovely finger food to soak up the wine!🙂 My only moan would be that there is no intention to have a full menu at this time but that's just my preference. Wonderful place for a few glasses of wine and a nibble👍

This is exactly what Chippenham needed, a great place with fantastic, welcoming and friendly staff. Great selection of wines on offer all backed up by sound knowledge from the team. Stopped off here by chance on Saturday and the vibe was buzzing and relaxed, so much so we spent a great afternoon yesterday with friends and family. Strongly recommend you give it a go and support a new local business. We will definitely be back!

Great experience today. Staff very friendly and welcoming (even though we had a pushchair and moved tables as more of our friends showed up!) Love the ethical ethos of the place and good selection of wines at a reasonable price. Will definitely be going back.

Had a great time here today. Both wines I tried were really nice and reasonably priced. Staff were very accommodating to our group which kept growing over the course of a few hours and also explained about the things that we can look forward to in the future like wine tastings and food. A great addition to Chippenham 😊
